No wonder you feel hungry! Yep until your first fill, you probably will feel like eating more. So is there any restriction feeling at all yet? Have you weighed after a week of liquids? Brave woman!..

Is this a diet your dr has you on? Did they recommend low carb?

Hi ladies,

I lost 5 lbs from the liquids last week. I was told that I will not have any restriction for probably a 2 months. Every two weeks I'll get an adjustment, then I'll be closer to restriction. I feel like I could definitely be snacking right now all the time. As for the diet...my doc and nutritionist want me to focus on protein first, then good veggies, and some starch/carbs. The main concern is hair loss and thinning...not enough protein can cause this unfortunate event. I was also told to get my calories from food not drink so low cal drinks and no juices are suggested. This way I get my calories from real food. My menu today looks like this:

Breakfast: chobani yogurt 130 cals
Lunch: grilled chicken, refried beans, low fat cheese, avocado, and sour cream...basically a chicken fajita taco minus the tortilla. I guess it was probably 300-400 calories due to the small amount. I used a little bowl to make the food look bigger than it was
Dinner will be some soup or some sort of protein.

Thanks for the info Jen!! So nice to hear from someone actually doing it. I wonder why it is 2 months till restriction? That seems a long time to have to wait.. I would probably be tempted to eat too much..

Congrats on the 5 pounds!! Fantastic!

Hello ladies,

Sorry that I have been MIA...It's the end of our quarter at the job and I am slinging deals...lol. I wish. A lot has happened...the weekend before my surgery, I had to stand up for myself against my husband which he ended up in jail for two weeks. I am not the type of person to post bad news as I like to speak about good things on my journal, but felt like I should say something. He spend almost two weeks in jail and is out now on personal bond. He has been making great strides in getting help and has quit drinking. He is a good man. I love him very much. However, I'm taking it slow. Time will tell what happens between us. I hope we can reconcile our differences. I am at 268 lbs this morning. I'm happy with this as I am losing. I can see it in my face and definitely feel a looseness in my clothes.

Thanks Deb. My eating has been bad these past two days. I have been able to eat more and more each day. I am so ready to get a fill to make me fuller. I know the band will only work if I work it. I just want to get there faster...I'm frustrated

This is so true!! Why do they make you wait for a fill? I don't really get that, unless they have to wait for your insides to heal more? In any case, you have begun this journey so hang on girl!.. You know what to do!

I'm doing better today. I have to wait for the fill to allow my insides to heal. I'm so ready to begin feeling some kind of restriction. That is the reason I got this thing!! Lol

Breakfast:
Chobani yogurt with medium banana 230 calories

Lunch:
Chicken club chipotle flatbread 529 calories
small can of chicken salad and crackers 230 calories

Dinner:
?? probably progresso light soup. I want to try to keep under 1200 calories for now if I can. I did it before

That is what I thought it may be. Well Jen, you hang in there! 1200 with no restriction is hard! BUT you can do it!

So you don't have to do Low Carb? I guess I keep reading that those having WLS have to eat low carb like forever...

I hope you have a wonderful day hon! Thinking of you!

Hi Deb! Well, I did not do well yesterday. I got into the ice cream. I am so angry at myself. I did not get cut for nothing!! grrrr...lol!

So, as far as my mom and my sister state...they cannot eat bread anymore because they cannot get it through the band. They throw it up. Sorry if that's tmi...but it's true. My sister cannot eat bananas because she's so tight. I long for that. Not to not be able to eat bananas...but to feel restriction from bread. Ice cream though can go down no problem, so I've got to get a handle on the sweets. I think I'll allow a sweet once a week. That way I don't freak out. Still trying to figure it out

Well pick yourself up and dust yourself off!!! So awesome that your Mom and Sister also have the band. That would be easier in the long run as far as knowing what to expect. So no more bread for you!.. at least once you get the fill.

Now ICE CREAM.. well I think you could make a good choice there, but sometimes our minds overrule our good sense.. Just remember WHY you did this and WHAT you expect the results to be. Just do it! You are right, you did not get cut for nothing my dear. Use your tool to your benefit, even if your restriction is not there yet. Practice as if it is..

Many hugs to you!!! This is not easy!! Hope your home life is doing better also Jen, I think of you alot..

Hello!

So glad it's Monday. I do so much better with my eating when at work. Guess it's because I don't have time to think about what to eat. I also did a great job at preparing my food for this week. I did a lot of cooking yesterday and putting into individual containers to help me. I also have a great report...I'm back to my signature weight...266. I haven't been there since I started my new job 6 months ago. So happy right now. The band is working now that I have made my renewed choice to eat my protein first...then if I have room I have a few bites of string cheese. That is like heaven
Today's menu looks like this:

B-Scrambled egg whites with one turkey sausage patty and mushrooms
L-Lean Beef Brisket with BBQ sauce and two bites of string cheese
D-Leftover chili or chicken tenderloins that I baked last night...not sure yet. maybe chicken with chili...who knows, but that sounds really good at the moment.

Home life is okay. My husband and I are attempting to work things out. I've a short fuse right now so it makes it very difficult to talk through some of our issues. I'm still so angry and hurt that he did this to our family. I think I may find a counselor to work through this for myself.

Rory my three year old started day care today. He really did not want to go. I cried the whole way to work just remembering how I had to leave him. It is so hard having little ones. I received a bunch of pics from the day care. He's having a blast, just like I knew he would. Now to keep going and reminding him how much fun he has

I noticed I'm not snacking as much as I wanted before as long as i eat by the clock...My mom and sister also said that I will get hungry when I have lost weight.

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I've been missing a few days. I received my first fill. I am at 6.5 cc's in a 15 cc band. I must say the experience was less than stellar. The NP had a hard time finding my port...talk about stinging pain! At least from now on I'll get an xray prior to find the exact spot next time. I wonder why they didn't use that this time. Oh, well. I had a day of liquids yesterday, today is soft food and then tomorrow I will be eating a normal diet. I am looking forward to having a salad. It's been a while since I've had any crunchy food in my mouth! I'm down 12 lbs since surgery...so it's definitely going well.

Deb-I am eating very P2ish...so I'll come join you crazy ladies

Hi Lexi and Deb:

Good news...fill is working I am at restriction. Food is not interesting to me. I lie...the thought of food is appealing....eating it, not so much

Bad news...I have gotten "stuck" a few times now. Pita bread is not my friend. Neither are cherries. These two items are hard to get through the band. Being stuck feels like a tightness in the chest. The constrictions are really uncomfortable. No bueno!

I am definitely feeling the restriction I longed for. Yesterday I ate:

Chobani yogurt 130 cals
Tomato bisque soup 250 cals
1/4 cupcake 200 cals
2 bites of pita and hummus 100 cals? not really sure
1 glass of wine 200 cals

All in all not a bad day...just wish I didn't get stuck with Pita Bread. I love Pita

This is such great news Jen!!! Whoo hooooo now keep it up!! Sorry about getting stuck, that sucks.

So can you eat whatever you want so long as you don't get stuck? AND still lose?

you should google what types of foods others who have had the surgery have had issues with and just not eat those.

Thanks Ladies! I think I will take your advice Lexi! I have talked to my mom and sister. They say some days are differrent from others. I've just got to slow down and chew my food very well. That will definitely help me. Right now I'm eating an avocado. Seems to be going down nicely. I'm going to stick with softer foods a little while longer. Nothing too hard.
