 no, I'm not sewing. I suck.

It seems I'm just slowly building up to "doing it all." At this point in time I can only seem to eat low carb food and do my color-coded exercises. I don't know why it's so hard for me. On the bright side, I feel good about the future! 7 months ago I was a 280 pound high carbing pig out slug queen. 6 months ago, it took every ounce of strength in my slug queen body to just eat low carb food and nothing else. 4 months ago I survived the holidays for the very first time EVER IN MY LIFE. 1.5 weeks ago I started organized exercise. Today for the first time in a long time my kitchen was clean BEFORE dinner was started. Slowly slowly becoming a regular person again, without burning out and reverting to the slug queen persona. I think maybe once I get this exercise thing down, I will keep feeling better and more energetic, and then BOOM I'M SEWING!

It will happen. I suppose it didn't help that after doing our taxes I realized my "business" is better catagorized as a "time sucking money wasting stressed out HOBBY." I'll figure it out... eventually.

I want to keep posting, as so many lovely ladies have commented here tonight, but

GOOOO BLAZERS!

Playoff game is on and don't want to miss even a minute-- have to go put on my Batum jersey and cheer!

oh, Martini, I think Happy Hour is now in Tiggy's journal. It's getting pretty steamy in there!

LOL Glenda. I don't know if it's a recipe or not, but my basic bonehead salad dressing is:

several glugs of extra virgin olive oil
several glugs of vinegar (wine or balsamic-- I tend to like it strong!)
small clove of garlic, microplaned
fresh cracked pepper

uh, that's it. I whisk in a big scoop of mayo, or mayo and sour cream to make it all nice and creamy if that's what the salad calls for.

you just gotta start whisking junk together and see what happens!

It's available in my local stores here. I don't cringe when my son drinks one, either. (I'd prefer he didn't drink ANY soda, but you know what happens when something stupid is forbidden!)

Weight today: 250.8

Exercise, day 9 of 67:
morning dog walk
55 minutes lap swim

Supplements taken

Food today:
B: scrambled eggs, bacon
L: albacore tuna mixed with mayo, garlic, dill weed, pepper, green onion, crispy fried onions; daikon radish, celery sticks
S: slice of sharp cheddar cheese
D: baked pork chop w/ rosemary & garlic, broccoli w/ mayo

Pool report: Yep, I went. I’m feeling the hurt, though, from yesterday’s “weightlifting” -- air quotes -- I tried a little harder yesterday and OUCH OUCH OUCH I’m feeling it today. So, I took it easy in the pool and did lots and lots of stretching.

I’ve also noticed that I’m hungrier, just like Gary Taubes said I would be. However, it’s not unmanageable! It’s not like I’m starving or anything. I did need a hunk of cheese at 4pm to tide me over until dinner, and I’m mildly hungry right this minute and I’m almost ready for bed. This is a real hunger, not the stupid snack monster. I can handle—it can EAT MY FAT while I’m sleeping. So there.

And, my weight today: REALLY?? I couldn’t have pissed out a few more drops so I could have a new low?? COMEON!!!! (<<<<< Don’t listen, Diane! Do as I say about the scale, not as I do! Hahahahahaha!)

I have pics of my lunch and dinner today, but I’ll post them tomorrow—I’m bushed and headed for bed.

My positive for the day: I cleaned up after myself today and it was no big deal… yay! The slob is leaving the building!

Success today. On to day 227!

Thanks for sharing your recipe, Angela... I'll save it and try it next month. Sounds super yummy! The house is wonderful, it's sooo nice to have a place of our own again. I mean, I love my parents and am grateful to them for opening up their home to us when we had nowhere else to go, but nothing beats a place of your own. We've been painting, making minor repairs, buying things slowly and even started a small garden. I planted that cilantro I said I would!

I can so relate with you about the sewing and getting the exercise routine in hand first. SInce I started this diet I have been so distracted that even though my eye doc has said I can get back to work slowly I am going at a smaller snails pace then even she meant I think. It's like my body has to get to a certain rythmn before I can add another thing into the routine. I dont know if that makes sense but I don't do well trying to change and it really takes some time for it to cement in my mind. This exercise thing is the next thing on my list to make into a routine. I worked yesterday on a list of arm exercises that I can do on days my hip refuses to cooperate...now if I just had some weights...
the sewing will come with time

Your menu for yesterday looks great. I never thought of putting broccoli with mayo. Mayo goes great with everything!

Ang- you were adorable!!!
I can so relate, I was telling Pooti yesterday like I am all or nothing I can only focus on 1 or 2 things, like my jewelry making has gone out the window while I focus on dieting and exercise, it is all consuming so I can relate to your sewing, and youa re so right, one day something will hit you like a ton of bricks, and you will be sewing your heart out and loving it, I can sooo relate. Like when I got into the jewelry I was obsessed with it, when I got my machine I took 2 days off of works just so I could do it all day and night, LOL I wish I could manage myself better, but I have just accepted that is how I am, and all my family knows it,LOL, but I do scrub my floors always, LOL

Thanks, Ladies! yep, it was a loooooong time coming. Now hopefully it will STICK! and not bounce back up for a few days. Haven't I suffered enough? lol!

Here was yesterday's lunch, tuna w/ daikon and celery:

and here was last night's dinner, porkchop and broccoli:

My family has always dipped stuff in mayo-- notably artichoke leaves, asparagus and broccoli. Imagine my surprise when, after becoming a grown up, discovering this was not the norm and some people even thought it was gross! their loss, more mayo for me!

crispy fried onions delish on EVERYthing! I get them at Trader Joe's. Unfortunately they are only seasonal--Thanksgiving time-- so my sister and I load up. I've run out, but my sister brought me a can because I watched her dog all day once. SUCKER!! I'd have done it for free!

Thanks everyone! It feels pretty damn good to be out of the 250's... hope this downward trend continues!

Thanks, Laura! I am definitely a mayo mustard vinegar dill pickle lemon kind of girl, but that cheeseburger dressing is just the bomb on a cheeseburger salad!

Thanks Keytones! I doubt you have read through my whole journal here -- and why would you -- so you probably don't know that I have been stuck in the low 250's since NOVEMBER last year. No matter what I ate, no matter what I did, I could. not. break. into the 240's. It was weird. It was dishearteneing. It was maddening. But these ladies here kept me going, kept me low carbing, which in turn helped me get out there and do some real exercise... which finally broke that monster 6 month stall. I love you guys!

But don't jinx it! It's like a delicate nervous little animal! I don't want to frighten it back into it's little hole!!

Weight today: 249.8

Exercise, day 10 of 67:
morning dog walk
20 minutes elliptical
40 minutes weight machines
Shooting hoops in the park w/ husband & son

Supplements taken

Food today:
B: scrambled eggs, large sausage patty
L: salad w/ leftover pork chop, green leaf lettuce, daikon, cucumber, green onion, balsamic & olive oil dressing
D: sirloin patty w/ mayo, dijon, ketchup, sharp cheddar, dill pickle, bacon, wrapped in red leaf lettuce

Gym report: Yep, I went. I tried out a different facility today, I had to pick up a library book and my personal little branch is in my favorite rec center, where I’ve been taking my son to classes for years and years. I’ve used their weight room a few times in the past, but it’s small and usually crowded. I went anyway, the library had a book for me to pick up (They have a love/hate relationship with me—I’m the interlibrary loan queen.) So, there I was. And it was crowded. It’s a much smaller room than the one I’ve been going to, and the machines are closer together which I don’t like. Anyway—there was the FRAKKING COOLEST LADY there, and she kept me entertained while I was working out. She was way more interesting than the dumbed-down vapid People magazine I had picked up off the shelf. Picture this: a 70 year old Granny, flabby, with short spiked hair, big earphones plugged into her ipod, a completely matching modern Nike workout uniform (head to toe, pink and black) The shirt was form fitting and sleeveless like a muscle shirt—and here’s the best part—she had a big pot leaf tattoo on her arm. --- GRANNY!!! ---but, upon closer inspection, it wasn’t pot leaves—it was actually a fuchsia branch – and that made it even more excellent. Fuchsia! Lol! She totally rocked that weight room, using the free weights like she had a Harley and a boy toy waiting for her outside. Loved it! She looked like she should have been a member of the Red Hat Society, but nope, she was rocking the tattoo in the gym. Sweet! The time went by pretty fast watching her go.

The “shooting hoops” portion of my day consisted of 20ish minutes before my son’s swim lesson, just goofing around—mostly lackadaisical dribbling, shooting, and walking after my air balls that rolled into the grass. YEAH! Suck it, LeBron!

My positive for the day: 240’s, baby! Man, that felt GOOD!

Success today. On to day 228!
