I thought maybe put them on a like a broiler pan so the fat runs down and lets them stay crispy? I love frying them, but I hate that smell, since it is 22 I wont be doing it outside as I thought, the kids are crazy for these wings, it was so funny, TOny's daughter told her mother she wanted my old bay wings and she had to call TOny to aks me how I make them, LOL I bet she loved that!!!!

Ang I love Hot wings, we have them at least once a week. I am going to have to try Amber recipe with Butter and Old Bay, they sound really good. You must be creating the gown, take some pictures when you can so we can see the transformation in progress. Have a wonderful Sunday with your family.

Gosh those wings sound fab!!! Ok, I'm gonna make em on Monday's UD!!!!!! YUMMY!

Hi Ang! Didn't get to make your lemon bars cuz I was short on lemon juice! Super annoyed at that!!!!! Had my heart set on it, but didn't have time for a run to the store when I was making it. So had to switch on the fly to making a variation of Lauren's LC Key Lime Pie which turned out good but it wasn't lemon bars!

Hope you are having a lovely Sunday with the fam!!!!!! and talk more later!

AAAAAHHHHHH naked tanning is the best. Thanks, Juan!

Nah, I'm here. Still under the weather, despite my best efforts, so I just chilled and watched Netflix all day, and capped it with a Blazer loss to OKC. (bummer!)

Dinner was ground turkey and onions on top of cauliflower, smothered with cheese sauce and crispy fried onions. YUM.

I've been thinking a lot about what I need to do to break free of my slump. Well, I should say REALISTICALLY do to free myself. I know that if I slash the carbs hard and exercise like a madwoman, I'll be to goal in a flash. Can I do that realistically? uh, no. It's not going to happen. I can force it for a few days, but then it will all blow up in my face as I burn out. I can't afford to burn out, I need to take itty bitty baby steps.

So, what do I have going for me right now?

FOOD-- I am still all low carb, and I'm happy with what I am eating. So I'm not induction levels, so I'm not zero carb, so I eat lc fruit when I have it, so I have enormous salads heaping high with 10 kinds of veg, so I have low carb dessert bars here and there, and so I have chocolate creams every so often. It's all low carb. I am not struggling with not eating the high carb stuff, I am not struggling with wine or beer or soda.

TIME-- I have all the time in the world to get it right.

That's about it. Now I have to figure it out from here. I think my first baby step will be to break my day into 4 set meals, no grazing. 9, noon, 3 and 6-- breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner. When i try to eliminate that afternoon snack, I get into trouble, so i'm just going to plan it to be it's very own approved meal. Seems silly, but this will definitely help me. The mindless non stop snacking MUST STOP.

So, that is my first itty bitty baby step.

You know, I was sick of seeing all the negative BS on this board about Julian Bakery. It all stems from one person saying Netrition wouldn't carry it over a year ago, and thus everyone now thinks they are liars about thier carb counts. Well, the labels and stats all look fine to me; I know for a fact that it doesn't make me gain, I was losing while eating it, and it never jacked my mom's blood sugars at all. So, I emailed them and told them the story of what's going on here, and they answered me right away:

Quote:
"Angela,

It is very strange that Netrition has never even called us or asked us any questions regarding our bread. We have an accurate carb and fiber count that has been verified. We also sell our bread to thousands of diabetics that have Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes not to mention 30,000 online low carb diet customers. Our bread is sold in 1,000 stores across the country and we are the leading low carb bakery in the United States. We have found time after time the people that often write negative comments about our bread usually work for other bakeries and have an agenda.

Thank You For Your Support!!"
Anyway, I believe them. I don't know why they are getting such a hard knock in the main lobby. It bothered me that some people said the bakery was acting suspicious and not answering questions, so I wrote them myself. I am satisfied with their answer and their service. I will also keep buying their bread!

Yay you're back. Can you share Juan around now . I need a hip flexor massage.

Sorry to hear you're still strugging with motivation and direction hun. It does sound like you are developing a game plan on how to start to address things to get back to where you want to be, LC and otherwise.

It will come. Your head is working through it and I reckon you will have this aha moment in the near future.

Have you revisited that mood cure book. Right now I am allll about the dlpa keeping me peppy in the day, and that htp stuff so I get a decent sleep. Are you still walking a bit and getting outside the house? I remember you used to dog walk every day. If perhaps you are not getting out and getting that sunshine into you, it can have a pretty massive impact? Just some ideas.

Yep, still walking the dog-- not as much as I was, though. At least a morning walk. The weather has been super soggy and I wasn't feeling so good, so I let it slip. I had all these grand ideas to become a gym rat like Gymbalina-- MWF in the gym, TTh in the pool. Wow, that looks so great in my head! Then real life barfs all over my fantasy and nope, it doesn't happen. I really do need to re-read the mood cure, my motivation is in the dumps and I'm not sure why. I take vitamins and eat healthy low carb food and usually get a good night sleep-- is that not enough? What am I missing?

Maybe it's also time to get to the doctor for a check up. I don't think I've ever had any tests run on me (cholesterol, diabetic, thyroid, vitamins, bone density, whatever) I know my blood pressure is always perfect, they always check that when I go in, but never had bloodwork done. Maybe it's time. I'll call for an appointment in the morning.

Angela- Yeah I know too that the Julian bread does not effect me, I think it is a matter of marketing, if not sold here than people assume it is bad. I love the stuff, and frankly find the fact that their bread is all natural stuff and no frankenfood is much better than some other stuff we could eat, I ate 2 pieces slathered with PB and loved it yesterday since I knew I was going to the gym. I will always be a huge fan of it!

You know chickie we are getting older maybe some blood work is a good thing, you never know if you have something going on that is out of whack, and maybe it is something stupid that is messing with your weight loss. I am sure you are looking great and if you are happy with your loss stick to it.

AMber

Love the new attitude, Angela! I agree with you 100%. I weighed yesterday and wasn't at all happy but then I tried on a pair of pants that I haven't worn in forever and they fit great. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and not get worked up about the stupid scale.

The weekend was crazy busy with a birthday party, t-ball practice and then spending all yesterday afternoon with DH at Home Depot buying a stupid shed. I get that he likes my input, but I so wanted to be home curled up on the couch reading my book!

It's so funny that you mentioned the Julian bread. I bought some for the first time yesterday when I just happened to see it at the health food store. I had a piece of the cinnamon raisin with organic peanut butter yesterday and I also bought the Manna from Heaven, which I haven't tried yet. Yum!

Hi all! had a fine but very weird day.

I reread some mood cure last night, and decided my "blah" might be helped by tyrosine, which she recommended taking in the morning instead of coffee. ( ) I only had the blend aminos, so I popped one of those while my coffee was steeping. ALL DAY LONG I FELT FULL. Weird. It was actually unpleasant for a little while. anyway, had my 9am breakfat (bacon & eggs) and then my 12pm lunch (leftover cauli turkey & cheese sauce) and the I just didn't want a snack at 3. Weird. Then I had dinner at 6 (hamburger & brussels, cherry cream zevia soda) and now I'm still stuffed. AMINOS FOR THE WIN! I'm going to do it again tomrorrow.

YAY for the amino's!! Thats fantastic they are having an impact on your eating.

Are you able to get some of the tyrosine ones (or whatever derivative) and give them a run? Even though my 5htp and dlpa are both kinda (next stage) aminos, each have such a HUGE difference on how I feel.

Perhaps the blend for general appetite control and the specific one to see if it gives ya a boost?

Have an awesome day/night

I like the whole sheduled meals and one snack plna. I have been grazing like a cow. Nuts have been an issue. I think you have a good plan. I also haven't been eating enough during the meals and it causes me to snack because I'm not satisfied. I try that BS to eat only until your not hungry. My belly don't like too much funny busniess.
Either I feed it or don't bother...LOL

*14.6

I have gotten back to the same point I have been to for a month and a half. I got less than 2 weeks until the point where i was suppppooosssed to be under***(LOL). Well it don't look like its gonna happen. Soooo now if I can get to *10. I'll freakin take it.

I think snacking is bad unless you are truly hungry I tried to stop all that, at night I allow myself one treat after the gym like a SF candy or SF jello with whipped cream, but I really tried to stop the constant snacking jsut to limit the calories somewhat, if I eat a good meal it keeps me full so I know the snacking is more mental than physical hunger, I feel more in control if I dont let myself snack just cause its there, and I have talks let me tell you I have 3 boxes of those SF oreos and I have had 2 cookies, every night I talk myself out of devouring them, LOL

Snacking is my downfall. It's like a compulsion, I'm just driven to eat and eat no matter what's in my belly already. That's a clear signal the brain chemistry is off. When I was doing CAD, being forced to only eat three times a day really controlled the munchies-- for a while. Once I fell off the wagon all bets were off and it was back to snack monster time. This time I'm trying to be very gentle to myself-- taking that amino pill first thing in the morning has really truly helped! That bizarre fullness I feel really helps me say no thanks to snacks. GRATEFUL! Maybe now my scale will start moving.

Speaking of scales, I HATE MINE. I have two-- one 12 year old tanita I don't trust, and one 6 month old Weight Watchers one I also don't trust. That damn thing actually told me I weighed MORE without my clothes on. 252.6 with clothes, 254.3 without! W.T.H! Then I scooted it a few inches, and it said 251.3 with clothes on. So, I whipped my clothes off again because I was desperate to see 240's and NOOOOOoooOOOoooOOO. 252.6 without the clothes. It's enough to make me want to smash it with a sledge hammer.

I was thinking about getting a new fancy scale, the type that measures muscle and water and fat, etc-- the one I was looking at is an Omron at costco. $59.99 and it has the little handles you hold so it really gets a read on you. The Tanita one that does pretty much the same thing is $300 bucks. (I don't need to know how fat I am THAT much!)

Any suggestions?

I love my biggest loser scale!!! It has all the fancy crap on it but I don't need to know that much. LOL I hopped on this morning. It said *15. I ironed my clothes and asked the Poo Fairy if she she had anything for me because that number was unacceptable. She made me a happy camper. Gotta love her!!!

Day 2 of baby stepping it-- how many successful LC days have I had? Am I over 200 yet? LOL

6:30 am -- amino and coffee
9am: 3 eggs, jimmy dean natural sausage crumbles
1:30pm: leftover hamburger & brussels
3:30pm: remainder of the above leftovers
6:30pm: hot wings, assorted veg (celery, daikon, avocado, peppers, carrot)

I didn't really need the afternoon snack, but I was afraid I would start grazing an hour later so I just ate it anyway. Turned out fine, I was starving for dinner and wouldn't have made it! The amino really helped today. It's bizarre to feel completely full and yet be physically hungry at the same time. It's a test of true hunger, that's for sure-- the amino doesn't help that, but it does shut the munchies up!

So, Julian Bakery and I are now best friends. I emailed them back and asked them to come here to LCF and defend themselves, since there was actual LIBEL going on by our sponser. (I'm a lawyer's daughter, I can't help but notice these things.) They most politely told me that they were banned, not allowed by the forum or the sponser to respond. They were fine to leave it at that, as they had no interest in gumming up the sponser's business here, since clearly other breads were being pushed. My thought is there are most likely distribution deals we have no clue about, which is their business right. I just think the smear campaign is super weird.

I also emailed 2 local grocers and Costco, and asked them to carry Zevia. Turns out I like it! There are two stores that sell it around here, but they are just not convenient for me. ZEVIA SHOULD BE CONVENIENT FOR ME! and cheaper. Just sayin'.

Any one else have thoughts on a scale??

I am not a scale guru by any means. I love my old tanita - very solid unflinching changes. I know omrons had a good head start in the fat % testing (those handheld things from years ago) so perhaps they do make a good one compared to 300 tanita? The only thing I have to add is - are you sure that the floor you are using is totally level. I find if i move my scale around I get different readings as well. Turned out it was because my floor is dodgy and crap and unlevel. Wood floors would probably do it as well. If i want I can make the scale weight like 5lbs less depending on where in the house I put it. I ended up having to put marks on the floor so I ensure the reading is constant.

Congrats on another great LC day!!

It does really suck that sale motivations has gotten in the way of showcasing a good product, to the point of libel. It would probably be more trouble than it is worth for them to get a lawyer and sort it and may increase the smear. BUT this is not the only site and those in the know can get the word out. Did i ever mention marketing and PR people are the devil? Cos they really really are.
