Dinner was chili with two small tomatoes, 3.5oz of 4% ground beef, and a tablespoon-full of dried minced onions. I used very little salt and probably too much chili powder, paprika and cayenne but it was filling. Unless I get very hungry later I'm going to forego my apple for the night.

I wasn't able to drink much water while at work so I still need about 40oz left for the night to get the minimum I like to have daily so best get cracking on that!

Ugh!!! Just took some pictures of myself and there is NO way they're getting posted until I have some much better after pictures!!!

I took no pictures of myself at my highest, at least on this camera. I think I remember taking some on my old digital camera, if I can find it.

You sound like me regarding the pictures. lol.. I have such a distorted image of myself.

I made a big pot of the chili on Monday and it has been my supper every night this week. I split it up into 5 portions and put it in zippys. Made supper so easy after work.

Kandi, the best part of this diet is that chili!! Seriously, I love the stuff!

Well, no weight today. I woke up hungry and groggy and before I knew it I'd scarfed down a burger and apple before even thinking about the scale. Meh, what can you do - this just means a bigger loss tomorrow.

I'm one of the weird ones anyway who has no problems with skipping the daily weigh-in. People seem to think it's necessary, then get depressed when they see it's not moving or not going down fast enough. This diet worked for me last time - 14 NET pounds lost (not including load weight) and I have no doubts it will again. So the scale has little to no hold over me - if I can lose another net ~15lbs this round I'd be stoked!! Until then I enjoy my burgers, cottage cheese and chilli. Nummy!

I love the chili too but I'm going to forego the usual recipe this round. Sodium just kills me! I might try it with fresh tomatoes. I love those fire roasted ones though!

I totally understand where you are coming from on the scale thing. I hate that the number can dictate my mood for the whole day. I am going to work on that this round.

You are doing great, Sassy! You will be in Onederland very soon! I keep wondering if our losses will be any different this time. Time will tell!

I put as little salt and sodium-rich spices in this batch as I could, instead loading up on the seasonings themselves, and it turned out okay. I'd forgotten how much chili could be made!

Honestly, I'm hoping to lose more weight this time around. 14lbs from my pre-load wasn't bad at all last time but this time I'm able to do a longer round so hopefully I can reach 185 and hold steady there through P3. Let me tell you what, if I reach that goal this round there is NO WAY I'm screwing up my P3!!! But yeah, 185 is the goal this round, with 170 by Christmas being my ultimate goal for this year (I'll do P4 at Christmas so only 2 more rounds this year, but one or both might be longer than 3 weeks).

I don't remember the last time I saw 170. Talk about an excellent Christmas present to me!! (and a HUGE surprise to my family )

That would be a great Christmas present! I can't wait to hear your family's reaction. Next Feb I am going to Vegas w/ a couple of my sisters. One is getting married. I haven't told them I am dieting either. no chance of them seeing me since they live across country. I want it to be a surprise too.

Now that makes me so excited for the holidays this year!

What phase will you be in on Thanksgiving? I want to get in as much p2 time as I can before the end of the year, but I need to be in p4 for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It gets confusing!

I keep playing with the numbers too but it all depends on how long my rounds will be. I have definite weight goals this time around that I want to reach before switching to P3. I intend to do 2 rounds to get to 170 by Christmas but ... I don't know about Thanksgiving, the dates don't work out with me being in P2 but if I was I'd probably work it as an interruption and finish to my goal.

Definitely going to be P4 for Christmas itself however, if I'm not loading.

Dinner was shrimp sautéd with celery and tomatoes, very lightly seasoned with some Creole/Cajun seasoning, and some green tea. I was leery of drinking the tea since I'd made it a few days ago using liberal amounts of cooking Splenda but it's my only bottle and I needed it for water so figured I'd rather the tea not go to waste.

I'm really hoping for a good loss tomorrow. I should be at or below my LDW and while it'd be nice to be in Onederland I'm not sure that's in the books just yet. Call me realistic.

Took a long nap today which I needed - no work tomorrow so I'll be sleeping in as long as possible as well. Tonight is shopping with the Dude for remaining groceries and other stuff I can afford, then going to bed praying for a loss in the morning.

Breakfast for today was a spinach and tomato omelet. I shredded (by hand) some spinach and let that cook in water, added a dash of ACV then added a small cut up tomato and let them simmer until the tomatoes had fallen apart. I gave it a dash of Creole seasoning, whipped up my eggs with very little salt (I'm trying to minimize my sodium input) and mixed it all together. Came out surprisingly good - a bit bland for my tastes but then I like things spicy. The tomato definitely helped in the flavor department, giving it a tangy flavor I enjoyed (and served as my fruit).

I'm doing something a little different today, eating breakfast and lunch instead of breakfast/dinner. I'll be eating before noon (possibly in just a few hours) because there's a lot I need to do today and I'd prefer not to have to worry about my meals later tonight when I get home. I'm thinking more shrimp and celery sounds divine (I'm going to have to buy more celery, I went through that quick!) - maybe even cook my apple down in the Torani's caramel SF syrup. We'll see, I'm also thinking of going to the store and picking up some radishes (which I hate raw btw but I'm willing to try again), boiling the snot out of them and seeing if I like them. I'll keep it posted whatever I decide.

Lunch was indeed 5oz radishes, boiled in several pots if water to get the horrible taste out; a burger, and apple slices grilled with 2 capfulls of Torani's and water. I was shocked: the boiled radishes weren't bad at all!! If I'd had less worries about sodium they might have been better (I added salt liberally for the first two pots of water then none the last pot) but I agreed that they could be mistaken for potatoes if you didn't know. I also finished off my 48oz water bottle and refilled it for drinking tonight.

I'd like to be in Onederland by Wednesday but am in no rush for it; I'll take it when it comes, having faith this diet will get me there.

Before today I hadn't had radishes since I was a little kid, but all I remembered was I really didn't like them in the slightest. However, boiled such that all the bitterness is removed they're not half bad! Now I'm curious how I can use them elsewhere, like in a stew or elsewhere. Definitely good though, I was pleasantly surprised!! Probably boiled out all the nutrients though!

You are doing great! I might have to try those radishes. This protocol is so bizarre... to make radishes sound interesting!

I have some caramel Torani's. Great idea about putting it on apples! I love the hazenut in coffee.

I wonder if boiled radishes would be a good potato sub in P3 for vegetable beef soup? I just bought ingredients tonight to make that (no potatoes though). Hmmm, might give it a shot! Great job on the loss!

Mmm, beef soup. Yum..... *drool*

Last night I was tempted with some mighty good looking porkchops but managed to get through it, only to have the scale show a +.4lb increase today to 202.6. No worries though: yesterday I got the chance to sleep in and weigh later than usual so I'm sure that's the problem. So far I'm still in new territory this round (LDW last time was 204 ) so I'm not sweating it any. Yet.

Breakfast was cottage cheese mixed with Splenda and cocoa, used as a dip for apple slices. Not too shabby actually, although I think I used too much cocoa this time around. A little goes a long way with that stuff!!

That's it I'm DONE!!

I'm 99% sure my multi is what's been killing my stomach in the mornings but I kept taking them because I didn't want to waste money. But when I get home today they're getting chucked. The daily stomach ache (and resulting backache from the pain radiating) is too much. I've never had these problems with this brand before and I'm really hoping it's just this bottle. I have another of the same brand I'm going to try but if I have any problems with them I'm going to forego further multis (but not my supplements) until P2 is over. I'm not sure if they're reacting to the HCG or my work conditions, but I don't remember having this problem during P3 so it's possible.

Just, ouch. I'd take an antacid but the only kind available are mint and, seeing as I'm on the homeopathic, that's not an option.

All vitamins make my stomach hurt so I take them at night, have you tried that? Then you kinda sleep through it all.

You know that's not a bad idea. I've found taking them at night gives me no problems, it's just the early morning pill. I'm supposed to take 2 per day and I usually like to split it up but I suppose I can definitely do them at night. Might save me some headache to sleep through it - my tummy doesn't usually start hurting until an hour or two afterwards.

Just occured to me...

Sometime in the next week or two I'm "scheduled" to have a visit from TOM so this week's losses may not be the best. Drat.

Last round was great, I started right after my period and had no problems up to the end. This round may include 2 TOM visits, depending on how long a round I finally do. I really want to reach my 185 goal this time and am willing to extend as much as my body/brain will allow to get there. Hopefully neither will rebel at the thought of P3 foods - so far so good, bit then it's been less than a week so far.

I had 2 visits from TOM last round AND he showed up on my first day of p3. Grrrr. I don't think I had much of a gain from it, but I did see slowed losses.

185 is very doable, especially if you consider a longer round.

Sorry about the vitamins. How much potassium are you taking?

VLCD7: Week 1 and 10 lbs!!

So: 7 days of Protocol and I am officially down 10.0lbs exactly.
Cue

I'm down now only ("only", HA!) 2.6 lbs from my R1 LDW and less than 2 lbs from Onederland. Yesterdays lunch (no dinner) was another spinach and tomato omelet with a teensy bit of Franks Red Hot, and over a gallon of water. I also got a full nights sleep (although while on HCG my body seems to run on less so I was awake early, to the joy of my pup) which I'm sure helped the loss.

Breakfast was cottage cheese mixed with sliced tomato and a bit of cayenne, and apple slices. Hate to say it but these apples are almost tasteless - next time I'm getting them individually, not in bulk. It's apple season so I should enjoy, right?

TOM should be arriving in the next week or so. I'm hoping () that I don't get cravings, increased hunger etc this week as is normal for my periods. This will be my first round with a bona fide period and I don't wanna screw this up....

So close to onederland!!! Great job! I had TOM last round and didn't notice any problems at all from it. I think I am one of those who is more likely to retain and crave around ovulation though, so I'm probably in the minority on that.

I'm seriously considering not weighing myself as often once I get to Onederland, just so I won't disappoint myself. At least, not the kind that I keep track of. I've pledged to do a full round plus added days to get to my goal, but between 199-185 I'm not really all that interested in seeing it, just in the final outcome. If it takes me 40 days to lose that last 15lbs, I'll do it. I'm bound and dead-set-determined to get down there this round and I know I can do it!!! I'm also determined to maintain there - the last time I was 185 was for ONE DAY back in 2003. I really, REALLY want to do it again and stay there this time, so P3 this next round will be IMPECCIBLE!! Last time I had a vacation; until Thanksgiving/Christmas I have nothing and plan to keep very close tabs on what I eat in every round. No more vacation splurges for this chica!!

Well crappers. The Dude informed me this morning that he has an outbreak of gout AND a probable kidney infection. This afternoon we'll be going over what he can eat (he's going to make this, hopefully, a lifelong thing as both these things are common occurances) and go shopping, so I've no idea what the final meal will be. On plan, certainly, but

Off work now, going to take him shopping!
