Worth the Weight
Me in a nutshell: Just turned 32 years old, I am a wife and mother to two gorgeous and brilliant (if I do say so myself) children. DS is 2 and DD is almost 11 months, they are 18 months apart.
I am mostly a SAHM but I am a self employed massage therapist 2 days a week. I am a stress eater and having two little ones has caused me to kind of go off the deep end with my eating. In stressful situations (like two babies screaming at the same time!), I reach for the sweets (pop, mostly) to help get me through. I am not necessarily any heavier (okay, 5 lbs. heavier) since having kids, but I am definitely bigger and smooshier:p. The second pregnancy really made a huge difference in my proportions and fluffiness even though the scale hasn't gone up much. I carry most of my weight in my midsection and I will for sure be doing before measurements and pics. After much internal debate and research, I have decided to take the Simeon's Protocol Plunge. I have kind of reached my desperation point. I feel like I need to have an "extreme" plan to whip myself back into having some self control. I am a huge skeptic, but the results (of others) speak for themselves. Oh, and my mom is a homeopath so I was able to obtain my hhcg for only $8, so there's really nothing to lose (except Pounds and Inches!)! I intend to do 2 short rounds and then start trying to get pregnant with baby #3 in January. I have my rounds planned out carefully to make sure I am not in P2 for any upcoming holidays. I would love to lose 40 lbs. (or more) total by the end of my second round, which is scheduled to end mid December. I am starting my first round with loading on Saturday and Sunday, then starting VLC on Monday. This is going to be tough, but I am excited about it! |
We'll need some pictures of those long and luxerous Mullets, lol!
Whatever "extreme" plan you use to whip yourself back into shape, the bottom line is diet and exercise, whether it's low carb, low fat, or whatever. Plan your meals, plan your workouts, and drink your water = 30 lbs. by Christmas! Mort |
Just wanted to pop in and say good luck!! I have some hHCG coming too and am both looking forward and nervous about starting the protocol - what if I screw up?!
Good luck, I'll be keeping tabs!! |

If I get my drops this afternoon I won't wait: I'll be dosing and LOADING to my heart's content.:up::hyst: Yes, I'll foolishly admit to looking forward to that part. :o |
Load day 1, start weight 219....highest weight ever ( non pg). :(
|
My load day 1 weight was 220 so we're close. I'm probably starting VLCD1 on Monday, what about you?
|
Yes, I am starting VLC on Monday! I bought some tomatoes at the farmer's market today, I already have extra lean ground beef in the freezer and bought chicken breast tenderloins at the store today. I still need to pick up some apples, oranges and/or grapefruit.
Today I ate: bacon egg & cheese biscuit, 2 cheeseburgers, 1/2 order fries (don't really like fries), corn on the cob with butter, bagel with cream cheese, coffee with heavy cream, and later some ice cream. |
Load day 2 complete! Weight was still 219 this morning. I finally felt the "ugh" feeling other have talked about on load days. I had: toast with butter, breaded fish fillets with tartar sauce, Reece's PB cups, peanut M&Ms, brisket, funeral potatoes, ice cream cake, pasta salad, cupcakes.
I would like to send props to my niece who had her 1st bday party today, which helped with my loading immensely. :) Tomorrow starts VLCD1. I just got back from the store. I have my grissini, apples, grapefruit, lemon, chicken, extra lean beef, shrimp, asparagus, lettuce, and I already had my tomato and cucumbers in the fridge! |
Vlcd1 today, weight was 220.4. Gross! But I have to remember that is the highest I will ever see! It's just downward from here! I am pretty hungry today, from others' experiences, day 3 seems to be when it gets easier. Makes sense, the same is true for low carb and ketosis.
|
STARVING! Ugh, I hope this passes soon.
Today's menu: Lunch: P2 chili, grissini Snack: apple Dinner: beef, cabbage & spices, grissini Snack: apple lots of water and hot tea |
VLCD2, this morning's weight was 217.8 so I am down 2.6. Is it ridiculous that I am disappointed with that number? Yes, it is. I need to readjust my thinking, this is going to be consistent weight loss even if it's only half a pound at a time, that just means I am that much closer to the 100s.
As far as my goals, I am just aching to have another baby. C will be 1 year old in 6 weeks, but I do want the next one spaced out a little further than T & C are. So January really will be perfect timing for trying again. I have time to do 2 full rounds of this. I am hoping to get into onederland with this first round and then down to the high 170s/low 180s with the second round. Other issues I have that I am hoping this protocol helps is my chronic acne (since 5th grade), and some new (in the past 4 years) hormonal chin hair. |
Congrats on the loss!! Don't beat yourself up - you're body is still processing the load days' food. The real test will be the next few days as your body gets used to the VLCD.:up: Just try to be as clean on the protocol as you can as it's your body, not you, that controls how much you release. What passes across your lips, however, is entirely up to you - focus on that!!
But 2.6lbs!! :kicking::clap: |
you are doing great, Potaty!! KUTGW
|
Thanks for the encouragement Sarah!
Today I was much less hungry than yesterday. My bottle says to dose once in the morning but today I dosed again around 4pm, by 3pm I was starving!!! Today's diet: lunch: garlic chicken, tomato snack: apple snack: grissini (snacks were 3 hours apart) dinner: steamed chicken, asparagus, grissini snack: 1/2 grapefruit loads of iced tea, coffee with 1 T. milk, some lemon water |
Vlcd3, weighed 214.8 this morning so I'm down another 3.
|
Hi Kandi, thanks for stopping by! Do you have a journal? I couldn't find one for you....
Today went really, really well! I really am amazed at how full I feel on the 500 cals. I am a huge skeptic so it's nice that I am actually feeling what I am supposed to with all of this. Today's menu: Lunch: asparagus and shrimp, grissini Snack: 1/2 grapefruit Dinner: tomato, ground beef, dijon mustard (surprisingly yummylicious) Snack: grissini and later will have a "baked" apple with cinnamon and sweetener loads of iced tea again! I have to mention how thankful I am that I decided to do this protocol during tomato season! I can't imagine how hard it would be if they were out of season and tasteless! I have been going to the farmer's markets twice a week! Tomorrow will be my first day to work while on the protocol. I have to have my kids to my sister's around lunchtime, so it is essential that I either pre-cook my food (I will need lunch and dinner to take, thinking P2 chili) and take it to her house or eat before I leave my house. I am only doing 2 massages so I think I will be okay. I need to make sure to take an apple or grapefruit with me too. I am horrible at pre-planning and that is when I usually fail so tomorrow will be a challenge! I only have to do 2 massages though so as far as energy, I should be just fine! |
Just had an idea and will be back to post how it turned out. I bought some Celestial Seasonings Vanilla Ginger Chai tea, it is so yummy and spicy. I think I'm going to poach my apple in it with some cinnamon. mmmmmmmmmmmmm
|
Potaty, yes I have a journal.. I think it is Cookie's journal to finally getting it right. Or something like that. Do you eat a whole tomatoe w/ your meal? I made chili w/ a fresh tomatoe and used the whole thing. Also.. do you sweeten your grapefruit? I finally bought one tonight and am thinking of eating 1/2 for snack later.
|
Yes, I use a whole tomato. I even go so far as buying the biggest ones available, lol! And I sprinkle some sweetener on the grapefruit too.
Um, the apple was awesome! Here's how I made it: Put about an inch of water in small saucepan over medium heat, steeped vanilla ginger green tea chai teabag for 3 minutes. Removed teabag, added a squeeze of lemon and a couple "glugs" of DaVinci unflavored syrup, cinnamon and apple slices. Simmered for about 10 minutes, removed apples and reduced sauce by half and then poured over. Delicious! |
sounds yummy!
|
VLCD4, weight 214.0 which is down .8
|
nice!!
|
Potaty you're doing awesome!! :kicking: I'm going to have to try that apple reduction, sounds positively divine!!
|
Another good day down, only 19 more to go. I had some hungry moments today but none that made me second guess what I'm doing. I just keep telling myself that if I can birth a baby with no drugs, I can do anything I set my mind to. Natural childbirth is largely a mental challenge and so is this. I keep telling myself the same things I told myself in labor:"you CAN do this! You ARE doing this!!!!
Today's menu: lunch:grilled chicken, tomato snack:1/2 grapefruit snack:grissini dinner:p2chili snack:1/2grapefruit l I also drank an entire pot of coffee this morning, sweet baby C was up all night working on some new chompers, the poor dear. Lots of iced tea, although I feel like I need to focus more on water because I am using a lot of sweetener in a day! Hoping using the massage lotion today doesn't cause a problem! Sorry for any typos, using my iPod touch |
VLCD5, weight this morning 212.2 which is -1.8! 212 is a huge previous setpoint for me so I won't be surprised if stall for a few days.
|
:kicking::clap: Way to go girl!!!
|
All Right, Potaty!!! KUTGW!!
|
Today's menu:
Lunch: shrimp, tomato Snack: apple Dinner: grissini, chicken, tomato Snack: grissini, 1/2 grapefruit Still need to work on the water but I drank lots of iced tea and some coffee. I was somewhat hungry but it went away with drinking tea and dosing again. I am still dosing twice a day, that seems to be my magic number. |
Morning Miss Potaty, how's the morning going?
