horseluvr's journal...comments welcome. May 21/2010

Well I've been on the induction phase of atkins for 2 weeks now. Was so excited initially because I lost 19lbs.

Now thought its been 3 days since my last weigh in and just stepped off the scale and i haven't dropped one pound Still in strong ketosis too...

I usually eat 2 scrambled eggs with onions, maybe half a pepper cut up and yesterday I added 1 stick pepperoni cut up...was yuuummy..lol.

lunch is usually 1c veggies, fried or steamed with 2 pork chops or chicken burger. Also to tablespoons whole sour cream...instead of ketchup for my chop.

supper is whatever protein I'm feeding my family( chicken, beef, fish) with a veggie side dish for me instead of carbs. Later I usually have a romain salad with small crumble of feta cheese, tomato, cucumber, and 2tablespoons blue cheese dressing or three cheese dressing. these dressing are 1carb to 1 tablespoon.

snacks for the day consist of a romain salad like the one above and 2-3 pepperoni sticks..1 carb a piece.

I also drink 5-7 710ml drinks a day. Its a re-used gatorade bottle I add water to and add a single packet of crystal light flavor crystals...

If I'm not doing something right please tell me...

p.s starting weight.......260 @ 5'6

now 241...

thanks!!

I will be updating weeky if not more.

Getting ready to eat my stir-fry hamburger and veggies...cooked stroganoff for the rest of the gang, lol.

Anyone here had a food nightmare? I dreamt today that someone stuffed a cupcake in my mouth...I was so upset and spitting it out and trying to rinse out my mouth with water.....it was rather upsetting!!

Hi, there !

I am not familiar with Atkins but just wanted to ask you how much water do you drink. Because it sounds like a lot of the foods you have are high in sodium and sodium will cause you to hold onto water weight even if you eat a tiny bit. A potassium supplement will help flush out salt, too.

Hope the scale gets better for you !

Thank you Stina!

I drink between 5-7 710ml bottles of water with crystal light(1gram of carbs) added per day as well as a few bottles waters. Potassium supplement eh?! I did not know that. I will look into adding that into my diet. I take a multivitamin called "one weight" once per day but just looked and it doesn't have any added potassium. Do you have any idea how much is a good daily dose?

I would like to add....

I'm going in to the doctor on June1st for a pre-hysterectomy shot, (depo prevara(sp?)..) I'm hopefully going to have my hysterectomy by the end of July. anybody else here dealt with getting this shot? AND trying to lose weight? Also losing weight after a hysterectomty? Any added info would truly be appreciated. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot concerning my weight loss... My doctor would like to see me another 20lbs down to before my surgery date...

I should ALSO add... I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 1992. I take 2.25 mmg of eltroxin daily which puts me at a normal level.

Thanks Mel, I think it must have been alot of water weight because I'm REALLY slowed now...lol.

I live in beautiful Alberta, although right now I'm not loving the freezing temps we're having every night! I'm having to cover all my garden plants and flowers every night and uncover them every morning...lol!

I don't ride hardly anymore since I've put on so much weight I feel very unbalanced on her and don't think its fair to her either....she's not a really big girl. She lets me up there fine but......I feel like if she spooked or something I'd land like a wet pancake. Took a fall a few years earlier (overweight then too) and really hurt my backside....its still not the same:blush:

I know that if my legs could give her aids properly and my belly wasn't in the way I'd be much more confident. Till then she's content being ridden by my kids and devouring the pasture

p.s. I love wine too, my inlaws make it by the TON...lol. Not touching a drop right now though!!

Hopped on the scale this am and was down 3lbs!!! YAY!! Really starting to feel a pride from within now:blush: So many times in the past I would go to bed at night stuffed to the gills, feeling disgusted with myself and think tommorrow will be different....then tomorrow would come and it would be the very same. I find myself starting to get excited now about the changes in by body, My hubby is really starting to compliment me now I know I've got a long ways to go but I've been doing this WOE for almost a MONTH now and I'm feeling so encouraged! I guess I;m having a really good day today, I finally fit into a pair of capri's that I haven't worn in years and they REALLY FIT!

B- 2 scrambled eggs with spinach and onion, 1tsp ketchup & black coffee with 2tsps splenda.

Hope everyone else is having a GREAT day too

Your user name caught my eye ... just wanted to poke my head in & say YOU ARE DOING GREAT!

Just make sure you are eating enough! Remember, the good thing about Atkins is you don't have to go hungry ... EVER!

I have several friends who ride and they are large riders, so don't let that stop you ... think how great the exercise is. Even taking a turn or two around the corral makes you feel so good and your horse won't mind that at all.

Don't get discouraged; this is my 2nd time around on this way of life and I can tell you sometimes the scale goes up before you get a big whoosh. So you may be due a loss right around the corner.

Thanks so much for the encouragement ladies I have tried riding but my mare is a spooky sometimes, don't get me wrong, she's a very good girl and the average rider could sit her little spook but I'm a worried lump up there because I feel so unbalanced.... I was riding alot at the 200 mark and know that if I get there again I'll push myself much harder to ride around the paddock Is that a TB your riding? Love your avatar, can't wait to put one of my own up sometime this summer. I love trail riding but don't have anyone to ride with here yet either....gonna have to work on that once the weight its down...lol.

Had a rought day today, had to go to the gyno got a shot of depo prevara...and a sample of my uterus was taken. This is all for preperation for a hysterectomy. I feel like I'm in TOM again now.....ugh.

I know I asked earlier but any of you ladies had any experience with having a hysterectomy while LC'ing? And the depo shot? ANY info would be sooo apreciated...I'm so nervous of this surgery and the after effects....If it'll be harder to lose weight...mood changes...ect.....

Been good today LC'ing... had a ceasar salad for lunch minus the croutons and a diet pop. lots of water too...

Keep up the good work!

There is no shame in having one of the kids or your DH lead you around on your horse until you get to feel more comfortable. When I worked with beginners that's what I would do ... I sure lost some lbs leading horses around LoL

In an enclosed area some of the more timid riders would eventually get up the courage to allow me to turn loose. After that, I would lay poles on the ground and have them get used to riding over them and then obstacles to train them to guide the horse around them. Lots of fun things you can work on in a small corral and a horse is less likely to spook there.

My horse is not a TB, all of ours are Quarter horses
