We made over $1000 at the garage sale. That was nice.
Wow! That's incredible!

BIL had another heart attack. That was stressful.
Good grief! Is he alright?

DS#2 has been severely depressed and threatened suicide. Not much we can do from 3000 miles away but pray, pray, PRAY.
Not good . . . Oh my! Have you suggested professional help?

DS#3 is on a mission trip in Thailand with his wife. I know this is God's will for their lives, but I still get nervous about it.
What type of work is involved in their missionary services?

Having a hard time focusing on anything, and DH doesn't understand or know how to help. Mostly he just stays out of my way, which really does not help. I need him to come alongside and just be there for me.

Gonna bake some LC cookies...
Just an observation here, but if your DH doesn't know how to help, have you sat him down and told him what would help? I know I've been working on communication skills lately and I've realized (FINALLY) that people really aren't mind readers. I don't care how clear a signal I send out, they just don't see it. I need to tell people what I think is the obvious. That might help out the situation a bit, Raini. I hope anyway.

The $$$ at the sale WAS incredible! just stuff we wanted to get rid of! We hired a lady to help, and she raised most of the prices much more than we'd ever have thought of doing. Maybe people don't see the value when stuff is priced too low???

BIL had quadruple by-pass surgery last fall. The other day he had a stint put in and they sent him home already. Wow...

Son #2 has suffered from depression for a lot of years. He hasn't followed any of our suggestions... not for counseling, an attorney for helping with the mess his ex-wife has made, not for... well, anything. We just keep praying.

DS #3 and his wife have a heart for sharing Christ with Muslims. They also teach English there and they work alongside pastors there, doing whatever is needed. This mission is just a month, but eventually they plan to live there full time.

As far as asking for whatever I need from DH, when I get stressed like that, I usually have no idea what it is I need. It's easier to ask for help for other people than it is to see whatever it is that I need. I'm through it for the moment, though. I think I just feel helpless when any of the kiddos aren't okay. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

I'm not a garage saler, but I think you might be right on that one.

I'm really sorry he won't listen. It's so hard to watch one our loved ones going through things like that.

Around here it is very hard to talk to the Muslims about the Christ, so what they are endeavoring to do I applaud them.

I'm sorry Raini . . . I'm a fixer . . . I hate to see people in trouble and/or in pain and so I try to fix. I'm glad you're over the hump for now. I SOOOOO know that helpless feeling.

I didn't do too great, but better than recent days...

Breakfast was an Atkin's bar around 11:35 or so. Around 1 pm I ate three leftover chicken wings, dipped in LC barbecue sauce.

I grabbed mixed nuts a couple of times when I was edgy. Late afternoon I made scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese when I realized that the snacking had to stop and I needed a real meal. That held me over until a late dinner of pot roast and a veggie stir-fry made with onions, mushrooms, zucchini, summer squash and tomatoes.

I made a low carb raspberry clafouti (sp?) for dessert. I would have been fine without a dessert, but we had raspberries that needed to be used.

Clafoutis is a dessert, or can be used as a breakfast. I found the recipe by searching "raspberry low carb" and it showed up. We had a lot of raspberries that we grew in our little garden at the Historical Farm here.

Breakfast today was Clafoutis, lunch was scrambled eggs with sausage and mushrooms. Dinner was leftover potroast and veggies from last night.

Where I screwed up was having another piece of Clafoutis when I got the munchies, and then nuts and more nuts and tonight Spelt pretzels with even ore nuts. Why can't I stop??????? Tea and chewing gum, here I come AGAIN!!!

Did great most of last week.... not so great today. Started out good but stress waiting for company to arrive and ended up eating maybe a bzillion tortilla chips. I'll be paying for this with heart burn for sure!

Another islander suicide on Saturday... walked in front of a train at the ferry dock on the mainland side. That's the 4th or 5th in the 5 years we've lived here... three were really close together, though. It's been awhile. I wonder about the stats... seems like an awful lot for a small community, but are there lots in the big towns and cities and we just don't hear about all of them?

Sorry I haven't been getting here to post. Just overwhelmed with company. Love to have folks here, but it doesn't leave time for posting!

Just got an e-mail from a dear friend who said her son died. No details and she said she just can't talk about it without falling apart. My heart is breaking for her. I haven't told my kids and am not looking forward to that.

Made a yummy chocolate zucchini cake- low carb of course. Really moist and you'd never know there's no flour in it.

It is so late and I should have been in bed at least an hour ago. G'night all!

DD went back home so no company right now. Next "expected" company is Labor Day.

We finally got hooked up to Skype and are having a wonderful time talking to DS#3 and his wife in Thailand. They even held up their computer and showed us around their room, and outside the window at the roof tops, trees and mountains. They moved south yesterday and we won't get to talk to them again until Sunday, but it will be fun to see their new location.

The roofers are finally here to replace the roof. The timing is actually good, because all our company is gone and we don't have to worry about the noise and the mess bothering anyone but us. Today I think I will be staying here, but the rest of the time they are here I will probably take the cats down to the campground and stay in the RV during the day while they're working. They get really stressed with the noise, and Thai actually started his asthma attacks after the construction workers had been putting our house back together last winter.

Hope all is going well for everyone else!

Hi Raini.

Hey! Lisa and I are starting Lowcarb/Atkins induction Monday. You wanna too?

I'm really sorry to hear about the son of your friend. I know you will be a good friend to her and help her through this.

Breakfast was hot flax cereal.
Lunch was leftover "crack slaw" followed by a chunk of LC chocolate to remind me that the meal was over. LOL
Dinner was 2 big bowls of ham soup that dh made.
Ate too many nuts (what else is new?) but stayed out of other things that I was craving.
Didn't count glasses of water and I'm sure I didn't drink enough; but I did drink more than I have been, so at least I'm heading in the right direction.
