Mandy's 2010 Journey

Well, here I am again! Have gained some but not up to original start weight which is encouraging. As I mentioned in my old journal I have had some tough times.

This time I am going to try a Protein Power approach, a little more liberal than Atkins and hopefully less likely to foster obsession. I will try not to be so involved in LCF as I used to as well because it's so easy to get caught up in all the fads and so on and become a totally one-track person.

Going to make the rounds of all my old friends and see what's new!

Hi Scrappychik and Krysta! Krysta, I always enjoyed your journal and am thrilled to have you post on mine.

I was 165 when I restarted last week, and am down to 161.8 today. Gotta love those beginning losses. I am taking my vitamins and mostly drinking enough water but NOT exercising. One of these days. I am not eating enough veggies but carbs are pretty low.

This is all very boring. My foster baby over in my avatar is more interesting. His name is Tommy and he is a rescued Toy Manchester Terrier. He will probably be adopted on Sunday by a nice family after we interview them and check out their house/yard/fence. He is super cute and a great cuddler. We will miss him a lot but I'm sure other needy pups will arrive needing TLC.

Awww what a cutie...and a kind thing for you to do! I worked animal rescue for a few years before my DD was born. There is a great need for it! WTG on the loss!!!

Foster baby will probably get adopted today, boohoo. He is such a great dog. But I think it's a great family he going to.

I realized I lied about starting weight, it was actually 165.8. So today at 160.2 I have lost 5.6 pounds in the first 10 days. Yay! Just induction losses, I know, but it feels good.

I am not eating all that much, surprisingly not a ton of cravings or being super hungry. Yesterday I forgot to bring lunch to work, so all I had the whole day was coffee with cream, macadamia nuts (maybe 2 oz) a large serving of strawberries, and when I got home I had some curried chicken salad from the gourmet deli that I LOOOVE. So I'm guessing cals aren't terribly high, and carbs definitely aren't.

strawberries and macadamias sound SOOO good right now! I can't wait till I am on those levels. I have one more week left on Induction, so it will be a few more weeks for me before I can add those back in.

Steady, so glad to see you! How's Vegas? What kind of dogs? What a huge change from your old life!

I am chugging along here, not seeing much loss and I fell off the wagon yesterday, at 20 days in. Despite eating lots of carbs I am still ketotic and didn't really gain from it.

I am restarting my extremely minimal weight-lifting program which I did last spring. I didn't lose much but my clothes were falling off me in no time. So that is well worth doing again!

I got a great haircut today! With all the moving I've had a tough time finding a stylist I like, and then the one I used to go to when we lived in VT is taking a leave of absence. I went to someone recommended by a coworker and she rocks! For the first time in 3 or so years I like my hair. It's made me feel so much better about myself and hopefully that will translate into successful weight loss!

I am on track but not losing very much. I made a casserole with ham this week so I know I'm holding on to some water. I will probably need to start tracking carbs/calories and not freewheel if I am to see some success. I did restart my strength training and it feels good.

Also I seem to be a on a good combo of antidepressants and am feeling pretty decent! My mind feels sharp and clear and I am not so anxious of dealing with people. Work is quite a bit easier and anxiety is better. So nice to feel better at last.

Your stall could simply be a part of the strength training you started. The best part is, though, once you build up your muscles a bit, they'll be burning more calories for you! Keep on keepin' on!

Finally seeing a little movement, yay! Down about 1.5 pounds. I fell asleep on the couch last night and didn't eat dinner, so both carbs and sodium were low. I think the lack of salt let me lose some water.

Jaimie I am shy about photos but I will think about it!

Mainegal I went to high school in Maine and I miss the ocean. The strength training hasn't slowed me down before and it is a very minimal program but - you never know. Thanks for stopping by!

I'm still here, still eating LC, and trying to keep down calories as that seems to help. I had one bad day and ate Easter candy and lobster mac and cheese - it was almost worth it. Hovering at 158 which is annoying since I saw 157. All very blah.

Hey girl,
Our dogs are littermates..two girls. They are Vizslas, Hungarian pointers. They are beautiful and 35 lbs each at 6 months. It is funny to watch a 90 lb me walk 70lbs of dogs. Actually they are pretty well behaved...I won't have it any other way...because I am a TYPE A.

You foster dogged? That is awesome...I thought about fostering before we got our two girls. My girls could help socialize a dog, but they are too social...all they want to do is play.

How is your job? Your home back in NE?
Things are good here, I am struggling weight wise, because of all the wine I drink to prepare for my Sommelier course (LOL). Alcohol gives me the munchies. I have to work out a more constructive (non-alcoholic) way to train my palate. However, I loved that walking was a mode of transportation in NYC, but now the dogs have me walking two times a day. So that should help.

Keep chugging along with LC, it works and you know it. The more other stuff you eat the longer it takes to get to goal.

Very pleased lately - I've been losing a half pound or more every 3-5 days. Currently at 13.8 pounds down in 8 weeks. I'm not eating a ton of food and I believe calories definitely count, at least for my body. I probably eat 1200-1500 during the week and then try to load up on the weekends, eat a huge steak or something, to shake thinga up and keep my body from thinking it should hold on to fat. I have had to go down to size medium scrubs at work, yay!

Wow, I can't believe this! Down to 151! On Friday we had some people over and I made a cake - really wanted to taste it to see how the recipe came out. Well, I had 3 pieces - and the scale was down 0.2 pounds the next morning! And down 0.8 again today. I have been losing so fast lately! I'm not sure what I'm doing that works so I'm just going to NOT CHANGE ANYTHING!

Wow, it's sure been quiet among my journal friends! I am still here, plugging along. 150 this morning so that was an exciting milestone. We are going to Arizona on vacation in a couple weeks and I am going to take full advantage of tex-mex, navajo fry bread and so on. Here's hoping the only weight I gain is water!

Yay, into the 140s, and my next size smaller jeans are fitting! I only got here for a few weeks last summer and the big D walloped me. I've been slowly increasing my strength training routine. I found an exercise room at work - it's kind of dumpy and doesn't have any windows, but has a lot of equipment crammed into the space. I don't have any way of working lats at home so I was excited to see a lat pulldown machine and a Smith bar I can use for pullups. I'm a loooong way from doing a pullup but it's a great goal!

Awesome Mandy! What is your secret formula? You will be looking fine for Arizona.

I am totally about trying foods (LC or not) when traveling. Heck, I am STILL working off the 10 lb weight gain from our 3 week cross country trip to LV back in September, but I still have no regrets about what I did eat. I do have regrets about not reigning in portions and diet immediately afterwards. So as long as you get back on track right away you will be fine...but you already know that

Happily my lack of posts is not due to falling off the wagon! Losses have slowed down and I know I need to cut back on treats like wine and LC desserts. The best part though is that I'm not too obsessed and am okay with the slow loss. I've seen some nice results from the strength training and am probably smaller at this weight than previous times. I got frustrated trying to patch together a strength workout at home and work so I joined a gym for the summer. I get intimidated by the people in the weight room but I still go. Starting to work in a little cardio too but I HATE it!

Tomorrow we are going to a friend's house for a BBQ and I am a little bit dreading bringing my "special" food, my LC ketchup etc. The female half of the couple is naturally skinny and the man is a tall guy for whom dieting consists of adding veggies and cutting back beer. They will respect my choices but totally not get it. Ah well. The social aspects continue to be hard. Not too difficult in restaurants but when we are invited over I have to explain my limitations and I feel like I'm putting my hosts out.
