April's 130 lb. Journey

I posted this as a blog too,,,I was a little confused:

Hi there,

Here is some info about me:
My name is April.

I'm 30.

I have been married for 9 years and our first and only child is 13 months old now. We finally conceived after trying for 2 years. He's our JOY!

I work full time as a customer service rep and I've been here for 7 years.

I have some stats posted but I'll be updating everything on Monday (11-9-09) when I start Atkins. On Oct. 26th I started at 296 and lost 4.5 lbs before I started struggling. That usually happens pretty quickly as much as that sucks! This time it was about that time of the month so it was a bad time for me anyway. That doesn't usually bother me but this month it did,,,,of course that is just an excuse really.

I've always thought about starting a blog but I never have. I found this site yesterday and it is AWESOME. Then I found the blog section and thought it was pretty cool. I had thought about blogging on FB but it would depress me to work on a blog with no comments and to feel like no one is reading it. I feel ignored on FB enough as it is so this is so much better.

I have dieted MANY times. I've been successful on Weight Watchers before but my last GOOD run was in 2003. Since then I've lost and gained and lost and gained and lost and gained.

My goal is to start Atkins on Monday along with using my elliptical trainer. Depending on how my son sleeps I'm planning on getting up at 5-5:30 am to exercise and get my breakfast ready. No boiled eggs for me Monday,,,I need some scrambled eggs or an omelet! I don't have the Atkins book so just holler at me if you read that I'm eating something that I'm not supposed to!

I definitely welcome your comments and encouragement! Also,,,as I tell my friends,,,I'm no grammar major and my punctuation skills STINK so keep that in mind when reading.

And this is why I'm fat....

Good morning,

What do they say about good intentions? I didn't get up to exercise this morning OR cook eggs. I didn't even go to the grocery store to get ready for the week. I just had a few almonds,,,,which I realized AFTERWARDS that it isn't on induction,,,oops,,,and I had a cheese stick. I go to lunch at 1 and I have to run to the store so I'll stock up on some stuff for work then. Any suggestions?

I hate how I lose my motivation and/or drive so quickly. Friday I felt excited about getting started. It just feels so impossible really. I know it is possible....I've seen OTHER people do it. I can imagine me doing it,,,,I really can. I just don't do it.

Oh,,,something else I should mention is that I signed up for a 9 week weight loss challenge here at work. I started a week late because of vacation but I thought I would be ok. We're giving half of the $800!! pot to the person who loses the most weight and half to the person who loses the highest percentage. It ends on December 18th. I really need to have SOME weight loss when we weigh in to end it!!!! I hate that they thought I was just giving them my $100 and it turns out that they're going to be right!!

Lunch shopping trip

I went to the grocery store at lunch because I had to get baby food so I picked up a few more things. I got pepperoni, ground beef, cream cheese, cheese, steak umms (never had them) and eggs. I'm going to make that ground beef stuff I've read about with the cream cheese and rotel. It sounds good. Oh,,,I got some breakfast steak too....whatever that is.

I might make some deviled eggs tonight because that sounds better than regular boiled eggs for breakfast or snack. I might go ahead and scramble up some eggs for breakfast since I never have time to do it in the morning. Does anyone do that? Hopefully they'll be good.

Actually,,,I have a quiche recipe so I might make that instead.....we'll have to see how my one year old is acting when I'm trying to get all of this done. So I have a lot of ideas in my head I guess. I have to get some shredded cheese to try those chips I've been reading about! Looks yummy!

I will either exercise tonight or tackle that mountain of clean clothes that I need to fold....or go to bed early. That late night on Saturday and early morning on Sunday is getting the best of me!

At any rate I'm feeling a little better since I have a few more choices of stuff to eat.

Down 2 lbs today

Good morning!

I know I'm not supposed to weigh every day but it is so hard to stay off the scale when I'm trying to lose weight. Some days it helps me and some days it doesn't. Today it helps because I'm done two pounds from yesterday,,,,three pounds total now. Yay!!

I had a good night last night. I browned some ground beef for my husband for "burgers" and then I made the hamburger/rotel/cream cheese stuff. It was yummy! I have some today for lunch to eat with a bag of broccoli. I also made some egg salad to bring for breakfast. I had decided yesterday that plain boiled eggs just didn't sound good but then I decided that I didn't want to mess with filling the egg whites with stuffing. It was the first time that I made egg salad,,,haha. I'll eat it soon. I was sweet and left my husband a boiled egg to eat today.

I feel good that I'm prepared for the day.

I haven't mentioned it yet but my DH has been out of work since July 10th and had surgery on Sept. 10th so he'll be out for the rest of the year and some of next year too. He can't help around the house now or with the baby so that has been part of my problem of getting exercise in.

Down 3 more lbs!

Good morning!

This morning I was down THREE more lbs! I am excited. So that makes 6 lbs total.

I had a great day yesterday on Atkins.
B-egg salad
L-ground beef/rotel/cream cheese with pepperoni
D-Steak Umms with provolone cheese and green beans

I should've had more veggies but I forgot to eat my broccoli at lunch. It was the first time I had tried Steak Umms and OMG!!! Yummo!!

Last night I scrambled some eggs with fresh jalapenos and added some steak to have this morning for breakfast. It was SO GOOD this morning and SO LEGAL,,,woohoo!! I need to make that a habit!!

Hi April.

Great job so far. We have basically the same stats so I thought it would be fun if we could keep up with eachother's progress and help eachother out when we can. I have lowcarbed in the past with good success. I re-inducted on 11/9 as well. I am at 290 and will be weighing on Mondays. I'm gonna try and start a blog soon to keep up with my menus. Good Luck and stay focused!

You are doing great! Sorry to hear about your husband's injury. That must be a lot to deal with. Good for you taking control of your health! You will be a great role model for your baby!

Thanks! It has been a lot to deal with. I can't wait until he can help me around the house and with the baby again.

Thank you so much for saying that about being a role model. I always worry about "making" him fat! AND I don't want to embarrass him when he's older by being fat.

I had McDonalds last night. Down 1.5 more!

Good morning!

I hadn’t lost anything when I weighed yesterday but today I’m down 1.5 more pounds!! That makes 6.5 since Monday and 7.5 total. Woohoo!!

Last night I had MCDONALDS for dinner!!! I ate a double quarter pounder with cheese without the bread and two side salads with ranch dressing. How cool is that? I forgot and got the whole meal but my husband ate my fries,,,along with his fries. I did have ONE fry but that was it.

For the rest of the day I had a steak, cheese and jalapeno omelet for breakfast and ground beef/rotel/cream cheese and pepperoni for lunch.

This morning I stopped and got a western omelet with bacon for breakfast because I didn’t have time to make anything last night or this morning. Yummo!! I have buffalo chicken in the crock pot and I’ll probably eat it over a salad while my hubby eats it in a sandwich. I’ll probably eat more of that ground beef stuff for lunch but I have to go to the grocery store at lunch so I might make myself a salad instead. We’ll see how I feel then.

My plan is to be SO GOOD this weekend and have a loss on Monday,,,,or at least maintain. Who am I kidding?? I want a LOSS on Monday!!

Hey April. I see you found my journal. Thanks for leaving me a message.

For the weekend, i'm gonna aim to do exactly what I do during the week. I know for myself, one cheat leads to a downward spiral. I feel so focused right now that i'm not even tempted to go off plan. We can do it!! It will be soooo worth it!!
