Tired of being Overweight!

I need some daily accountability and a place to put my thoughts so I am starting a journal.

Today is Monday, October 12, 2009 and I weigh 186lbs. My goal weight is 140-145lbs.

I just got back from a 4 day weekend with my BF and we went to So Cal and spent the day at Disneyland, went to City Walk, drove along the coast, saw Ralphie May at the Improv....and ate and ate and ate.

My BF loves to eat and so do I. I really need to make a change and eat to nourish and not for pleasure. It is very hard for me as sometimes I feel I am addicted to food.

I have been on LC diet off and on since 2002. I know how and what to eat, I just need the discipline.

I enjoy exercising. It relieves my stress and makes me feel great.

I was also diagnosed with PCOS January 2008. This sometimes can be a problem in weight loss for me. I do my best to take my Meformin but need more consistency in that area.

So today marks a new day in my weight loss journey. I just need to come and post daily and do it!

Onwards and Upwards!

I know how you feel! Your stats are close to mine. I am 5' 4" and currently am at 150 but I was up to 192. I came to a stall like 2 years ago and haven't been able to break it. BUT I have no excuses because I can't stick to anything long term! Good luck. Hope you do better than I do!

Hi Dani!

Thanks for stopping by. How long did it take you to get to 150? I have never gotten that low in all the years at LC. The lowest I think was 158.

Well I ate off plan today...

I made a grocery list for all my LC food and was sooooo hungry on the way to the store that I stopped and had tacos with beans and rice for lunch.

I suppose I will start fresh tomorrow since I have all this yummy food!

Okay I am going to try this again.

Let me start at the beginning. I was not always fat. I was a pleasant 120 to 125 until I had kids. Then I hit 145 or so. I stayed like that till I had to quit my full time cleaning job. I ballooned up to 192! Ahhh!!! I cried. What made me realize I had gotten so big was when my mom sent me some pics of when she was visiting me. I got mad at myself. Really mad! I called myself all kinds of names and stuff. Silly huh....it worked though. I borrowed a cheap treadmill from a friend. I ran and ran every day on that thing. I ate way less. Probably too little at the beginning. I got down to 140. Then the tread mill broke! I went back up to 150. I joined the YMCA and work my tail off! BUT I was eating out way too much. Like 3, 4 or 5 times a week! We were doing very well financially at the time. We made the mistake of moving to Mississippi from Virginia. NEVER move here. We had NO JOBS for months! I went back up to 159. I did find a cleaning job though at the end of May. I am back down to 150. I had one day in Aug. where the scale said 149! It is my fault though. I KNOW I would lose more if I'd stick to low carb. We need to kick each other's butts!!!

So what is your story? What is that illness you have? I am 36, married for almost 19 years and have 2 teenagers. Our favorite place is Orlando! We love Universal Studios and Blue Man Group. I have 2 kitties and 3 birds. The cat in the picture is my little shadow. He follows me everywhere and has to sit on me whenever he gets a chance.

Thanks Dani for the reply! Sounds like you worked hard to lose the weight! Awesome job!

My story: 32 years old, no kids, have a BF, live in San Francisco Bay Area, 2 kitties. I have never been thin since I was like 7 years old. I was about 140 in HS. Got to my hightest weight at 190 and then dieted and have always hovered around 160. My job is very stressful and has caused me to gain 30 lbs and almost back to my highest weight of 190. I need to exercise and eat LC. The illness is PCOS. It is poly cystic ovary syndrome. There is some info on this site or you can google it. It causes weight gain around the middle, facial hair, infertility if you dont manage it. The best way to manage it is through LC but I still cant get my **** together.... LOL!

Hey! Oh I did work hard! I just wish I could get back in the mode again. I had noodles and sauce tonight. Very tasty but high carb. If my hubby would low carb it would help. He sure could use to lose a few! Or 30!!! How did you do today? My problem is still wanting night snacks. I do really good for a few days and then bomb again.

I have a bunch of chicken I need to get cooked up. I think I'll make a big batch of chicken and egg salad to eat for a few days.

The cat's name is Snuggles. I call him my little shadow because every time I turn around....there he is! Following me around. My other cat is a fat one named Chloe. She is lazy but sweet as pie! Mmmm...pie

Okay so tomorrow I am going to try to be good. Perfect low carb. Eggs, chicken, veggies, maybe an Atkins shake. Wish me luck!

HI...You didn't post for yesterday...Hope all is well!

I did fairly good yesterday. I had some chicken salad (homemade) for breakfast, chicken and egg salad for lunch, and for dinner I had pork chops and broccoli casserole. The broccoli casserole was really high in calories though. The pork chops had Shake n Bake on them...that is the worst I did. I did find a good snack! Well I created it...a cup of Calorie (Carb) Countdown, a tsp. of imitation vanilla, and a pack of splenda. Yummy! Like a creamy shake.

I am not feeling well today. I have been resting and not posting but I am here. I did eat on plan yesterday.

So far so good today too. Just gonna rest for the rest of the night. YOur snack sounds good. I cant find calorie (carb) countdown here anymore.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I live in a very rural area with few low carb choices...I can only find the Carb Countdown at Wal Mart. They have no South Beach meals here anywhere. I miss those. I am hoping to move back to Virginia soon!

Oh wow I have tried Wal*Mart and didnt find any. I live just outside San Francisco and havent found this in a long time.

So I have been eating on plan. Not exercising though. Feeling a bit better. How are you doing with your eating?

Well my last 2 days were very bad. Was out running around today and we got hungry so I had Burger King. It was delicious! mmmm.....

Do you have any fancy shmancy grocery stores nearby? Most of those have the off the wall products. How bout plain soy milk? I make it taste better with immitation vanilla and Splenda. Or cocoa powder and Splenda.

My local news station just picture a woman who lost 100 pounds in a year. She journaled. I want to lose 30 before Xmas so I think I will start my journal tomorrow.

I'm actually not a soy fan either but the vanilla DOES make it taste a little better. The 8th Continent brand is decent tasting.

I might do a 2 week experiment. I keep losing faith that low carb/low calorie works and that is why I fall off the wagon. So I might do a real strict 14 day meat, egg, and veggie plan....just to see what happens. And I won't weigh myself till it is done. If it even says 149 I'll be a believer. I've said before that I'll do it, but I always cop out. I get bored eating that way. Silly huh....Let me know if you find the milk stuff! I'd be lost without it.

Go for it! I was excited for a friend of mine today. She sent me a text from Busch Gardens in Virginia and was able to fit in the roller coasters today! 2 years ago she could not ride them and made a commiment to lose weight. She's lost a lot and sees a trainer 5 days a week.

How goes today? You feeling better? Hope so! Today was good. I had eggs with onions and mushrooms this morning. A very late lunch/early dinner of sauteed onions, peppers, spinach on chicken seasoned with seasoned salt with cheese melted on top. For snacks I had peanut butter, Calorie countdown, and broth with cheese melted in it. I will have some eggs and mayo later if I get hungry. If I keep plenty of onions, mushrooms, and peppers on hand I'll be okay. Mmmm.....Not in a hurry to weigh myself. And I need to get some exercise.

Well I havent been here in a long time. Thinking I have been depressed a bit. Lots of changes going on at my work. Things have mellowed out a bit now and I have come to terms with things.

While my relationship with my bf is not bad he says he feels that we have been "growing apart" lately. This saddens me bc we have had so many plans for our future. He is very sarcastic so sometimes I am not sure what he is about. I must remind myself that due to his job that is how he responds. It is his actions and not his words. We worked things out and had a lovely weekend at my house. Things are getting better and we are enjoying each other.
I started back on LC today figuring Nov 1st is a great day to start. A fresh new month. I also looked up a ladies bootcamp and seems like something I could get into!

So day 1 down and I want to lose 20 lbs by Jan 1st that is 2 months. I know I can do it!

Well minutes after last nights posting ....i ate the mashed potatoes I made for my bf for dinner. they were not even good so today is a new day and i need to get it together. start weight 187. cant even fit into my clothes!

Hey~

Glad you are back! I haven't been doing good either. The low carb was getting boring and not practical. When you have 3 other people to feed you have to plan accordingly. So I decided to just go back to a low calorie normal diet. Of course doing my best to avoid sugar. Yesterday I ate about 10 Dove chocolates. The Halloween candy is half off at Wal Mart... Couldn't resist! I think I'll start using Fitday again. Ever used it? It is helpful.

But, I'm wondering (again) if "straight-up LC" is the right WOE for you?
(it's not, for me, or for many others)

I think it's MORE much more) than "discipline and willpower" ~
I believe we must find what works for us & our individual lifestyles.

Just some food for thought...

Hi HB! I am required to do LC per my doctor for PCOS. By LC I mean Lower Carb (75-100 grams) but I restrict it too much and that is probably my demise. I just want to be able to button the top of my jeans!

Just did 30 min on the elliptical. Feeling good. i was reading a friends fb and it said how she exercises daily because she loves to eat....got me thinking!
