6 weeks into it and hitting wall

Hello all.. this my 3rd go with Atkins and seem to be hitting a wall with weight loss. I am down 6.5 pounds after 6 weeks.

My atkins rotation consists of :

egg whites/cheese/sausage
ground turkey or beef and cheese simetimes with spinach and hot sauce
chicken with cheese
shrimp with cheese
tuna fish with mayo and no carb pickle relish
talipa with mayo and no carb pickle relishch
cheese
low carb tortillas [about 4 carbs after I take away the portion wo melted cheese]
I drink a lot of the Atkins shakes [probably 3 a day-either choc or van]
Occasionally like once a week have the 5 carb low carb Breyers ice cream bar

I feel I am consistenly under the 20 carb figure each day. I do drink a lot of diet soda.. approx 40 oz a day. I also drink flavored waters and crystal light. I certainly could be drinking more water. Is this diet soda consumption a real obstacle to losing additional weight? I also run about 4 miles 3 times a week on soft sand at the beach. My portion size could also be a contributor to wall.

Just looking for tips on additional things I could be doing or changes on items as noted above. I felt the first time I did atkins that as long as I kept it within the 20 carbs per day goal I would continue to drop weight of 2-3 pounds for the first months but not so much this time out. First time probably lost 18 pounds. FYI- I am 37 male and 225 currently. looking to drop just another 5 pounds... this difference will do wonders for my knees and back health.

Hi Kdog

Several things jump out at me. Firstly, you have to get rid of all the frankenfoods or low carb junk. Just because they say it's "low carb" doesn't mean it's safe to ingest. Atkins shakes, LC Breyers, tortillas, excess cheese, have been know to impede weight loss. Stick to atkins as written preferably the 1972 version. The later versions promote junk that will stall you.

Eat you meat, fat, low glycemic veggies and you'll begin to see the scale move. Also post your questions in the main forum so that others can assist you. They're very knowledgeable.

Good luck!

Note: Soda contains a lot of sodium. Limit your consumption to one can a day if possible.

Yea I would start there and just count calories for a bit to get a feel for how much you actually consume. There is nothing magic to these diets other than when you tell someone they can eat all the beef and bacon they want, they tend to quickly start restricting calories compared to what they were eating before.
