Okay. so my sister says..."you need to do this diet!" I have been doing LC.. well not in earnest but still.
she says "i will do ANYTHING to get this weight off" ( like I am not trying?) wel maybe not. so, here i am the NEW beginning. 160 this morning. doing that insanely crazy Dr. Eades middle age diet. starving myself for 4 weeks. what up? well, have i have been drinking my smoothie and am not really hungry. Just in time for a "birthday" food day ( if it's your birthday you get to bring in a spread of food for all the other peeps in the office) (as much or as little as you want to go) AND the peeps in the meeting room are having my FAVORITE barberito's (tex/mex)for lunch. leaving in a few to go to the dentist. I will maintain and persevre through this and lose the weight. My daughter says" momma, you only live once and shouldn't you be eating correctly?" yes i do only live once but I won't for long if i keep gaining weight. WAY TO FAT. I should post a pic ( i did take one) but am too ashamed. cannot beleive that i actually am seen in public. well journal, i will talk at ya tomorrow.! be good to yourself

Hi Kat!
I'll be interested to see how the Dr. Eades' plan works for you! I have been hearing of a lot of people who are doing it and are having a hard time getting all the shakes down because they are too full, believe it or not! Interesting concept about bringing in a spread for your own birthday. Please tell me the office pays for it though? |

well journal day 2.
okay, Sharon, the shakes are fine. I make my own and use koolaid with splenda. not much splenda as i don't like real sweet koolaid. well, got on the scale this morning 157 ![]() no, i am not celebrating just yet. i want y'all to know that i was FAMISHED by the time i finally got to eat solid food around 7ish. since this regime of eating says you can have your one meal ( for the 1st 2 weeks) any time I think I will choose lunch. I do love to eat Isn't that why I am here? yes ofcourse, and since i am over 50, (yes it's hard to believe when you look at my avatar) but things do slow down. I was reading an article about how MUCh they slow down even more after menopause. Told my daughter that I cannot eat the quantities like i used too. Heck, just look at my mother, she is 77 and eats like a bird. course she thinks she is fat ( all of mabye 120) but she has always been around 100-105 her whole life. I hope I can make it as far as she has. okay, mental attitude? positive. this is not much different than my normal jump start on the Low carb. but we will see about this, casue my normal jump is only for 3 days.... this is for 2 weeks! did the Dr.'s Eades actually try this method? I hope so. oh. for anyone reading this is the "meat" of this program is: 1 - 2 weeks 3 protein shakes a day with one meal 4 - 5 weeks 2 protein shakes and 2 meals 5 - 6 weeks 1 shake and 3 meals 1st 2 weeks --- no dairy, no ALCOHOL, no nuts, only protein and some vegies.. 400 mg magnesium/potassium (this to be take for at least the 6 weeks of this program) 2nd 2 weeks --- no dairy(i.e. milk and such) you can a an occasional piece of cheese ( reminds me of the movie Devil Wears prada -- "when i get hungry I eat a piece of cheese") ( okay, i do have a funny bone once in a while) also a little bit of nuts last 2 weeks -- regualr low carb and you can add back alcohol...only 2 drinks a day and only 2 x's a week. and no, you can not hold all of it for one day. this is a massive undertaking... will i last? will i loose more weight than my sister? ( i secretly hope so, but she already weighs less than me) back at ya Journal |

day 3
well, it went as expected. got on the scale and gained a pound.
I had my 3 smoothies and for lunch I had a Zaxby's salad grilled chicken no onion thingy's no bread blue cheese dressing. tasted yummy and lunch will be my meal of the day for the 2 week stint. mental attitude: i always get a little down when i see the scale go up. I know, it's only day 3 but still. I will get through this if only to tell my sister I told you so. Meeting tonight after work. will not have a chance to exercise will start that tomorrow. mmm, what to do, yoga? or something snazy like my dance tapes. or better yet, get my butt to the y and go to Zumba class. well tomorrow journal. ![]() ![]() |

yes I have. love it when I have a good instructor. I have had some instructors not say a word and just point.. what's up with that? I spend more time trying to figure out the move than acutally moving but it is a great relaxer and fun. |

Good Morning Kat! You started a journal, cool! You've gotta explain some of this plan you are on. I tried looking it up and didn't find much. Mostly links to buy a book, which I can't afford right now. Zumba looks so fun!

OMG. got up this am and got on the scale. 158.5. gained another 1/2 lb? what? okay tried again and the same thing. boy was I upset. okay, fed teh animals and got them settled. tried it again.. this time 157. okay i will take that
![]() mental attitude: good. this eating program is not something new to me so having only one meal is okay. in fact I need to drink my last shake before bed. the other thread has many more ladies who are doing this same program. already one has fallen. well diary, this is a strange diet. not for the weak.. will i fall too? ![]() |

DAY 5 big friday
well i am happy to report that my weight is now 155.5.
woo hoo! my middle is beginning to shrink. only a medium size muffin top! ![]() had a good night sleep, of course had to watch Grey's Anatomy last night. that went on until 11 pm. way past the normal bed time mental attitude: GOOD still drinking the 3 shakes and having my meal at lunch. I also added a little bit more fat in the shakes. fight fat with fat. so the stats are 160-157-158-157-155.5 not bad. better than i have seen in a long while. no exercising. but I have to sut the grass tonight. that burns a few. see ya tomorrow! ![]() |

155.5 yay! You are close to what I am stuck at. I really am interested in this plan. I went to the forum for it but it didn't really help too much. I get the basic idea from your list and I read about it on Web MD but I have to ask you....what kind of protein powder do you use? Is it available at Wal Mart since I live in nowhere'sville. Health food store? What's that?!!! I have been miserable trying to low carb. I hate cooking. Monday thru Friday I am in and out of my car all day so the best I can do is putting something in a cooler for the day. Saturday and Sunday we like to go out and find something to do which means eating out. So you know how that goes. I didn't even try this week.

well it's Saturday and i don't have the office work to help me get through the day. i really want to graze, but I threw away all me good grazing food when i started this. did not want to temp myself.. maybe I will go find a pair of shoes !
![]() 155.5 this morning. worked in the yard ( it's only HOT outside) I hope i sweated off some fat. still ate my meal at lunch. and already had my 2nd smoothie for the day. going to the store to pick up some smoothie items. mental attitude: good. I really want to go to Tally and party with friends but no alcohol and no caffeine. so, i sit at home. oh well. life will return after these 4 weeks well, i need to check out the receipe room for smoothies. I am Kitchen Challenged. ! ![]() |

day 8
okay, i missed day 7 cause i wasvery angry. got on the scale and it said i have gained to 157. whay up? okay
started the day to day at 155, i will take those numbers. I will not weigh myself until next monday morning. putting more fat in my shakes. yes, i did go and get some very yummy receipes off the board. thanks board. still no real exercise. I have to fit it in with all the stuff that i have to do around the house. Being single is not all it's cracked up to be, unless you live in a house that everythign is thaken care of for you. Would I call that an apartment? ![]() worked in the yard saturday and sweated bullets. have more outside work to do this week. can that be used as exercise? mental attitude: better than yesterday. i was so po'd with myself that i ALMOST stopped at the DQ for a treat. i did not. but still not understanding why it woild take me so long to lose this weight. Maybe I chouls have my thyroid checked like me sister. well, tomorrow journal ![]() |

day.. um whatever
okay, had lots of work to do yesterday and did not get on.
I did not weigh myself, dong that on Monday morning when i start the 3rd week. According to the lure ( I have not bought the book) I am supposed to reduce my carbs even further. ![]() I love my fruit, but will sacrifce for the greater fat if I can loose. Drinking the 3 shakes and only having one meal is actually filling OMG! cannot beleive i said that.Makes me take note of all the OVEREATING i was doing. but this 3rd and 4th week have me not looking forward to it. hard enough to get the meat in at lunch. and i do not have time in the morning. Anyone reading this give me some suggestions. I would like to stay away from the processed meats ( lunch meat etc.) I only have a microwave ( old as the hills) here at work) oh, did i say that i am kitchen challeneged? ![]() mental attitude: good. daydreaming of me being slim ( right) but hey, gotta have the dream or I can't do this. I can tell that I have lost the 5 lbs, mostly in the middle. I now have 2 little bumps instead of 1 BIG roll. I have a wedding to go too on Nov 14. AT TPC SAWGRASS no less. I have a stunnnig white house/ black Market dress but that is black so I will have to shop for something new... Looking forward to a nice size 10? hey, the girls have to fit in the dress, they don't make small size dresses for big chested peeps. (Drop Dead Diva, here I come!) |

well, i am on the downside of the 1st 2 weeks. my confidante is telling me that i have to eat the next 2 weeks with VERY LITTLE carbs. atkins extreme here i come.
I am wondering how I will be able to start eating again after not really eating much. I have been having salads with meat and sometimes just meat and veggies. I am looking forward to being able to drink my favorite drink. diet Coke with lime, ahhhh ![]() I am feeling slimmer, and one of these days I will post my fat picture and one I will take shortly Mental attitude: good. i think this will jump start me to feeling better about myself. exercise: cleaned the balsted front porch. PITA but now it is done and I have to paint. must get ready for the holidays. the BIG one is soon... Holloween. I live that one! wish i was suzie homemaker and could make me a nice costume and put something outside for the kids to have fun with. alas, i am not so good bye for today. |

Hey Kat...I was thinking of posting some "now" pictures too. I am just too embarassed to have my hubby take them. I don't know where my fat pics are. Guess I need to dig around in unpacked boxes. Glad to hear that you are sticking to your plan. I decided not to waste my money on shake stuff. I am afraid I'll hate it. I tried a few and .... yuck...I like the slim fast low carb vanilla BUT I can't find the powder anywhere out here! Been doing really good though. I've only had eggs with cheese, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers...a little cottage cheese...carb countdown milk...veggies...chicken and beef. I think I can do this if I keep plenty of onions and mushrooms around to sautee. Mmmmmm.....

Well journal, I guess I am a scale-*****. I broke down and got on it this morning.....152.5
![]() ![]() that is a nice surpise! still sticking to the program, but I think I am looking forward to actually eating. I am not an egg person so the monring maybe a bit tricky. although I can eat my weight in bacon. Sleeping better and guess what! Acid reflux is almost gone! that i really apporve of.now I only have about 25 lbs to go. wondr if I will make it. mental attitude: very good, can't ya tell! I hope to be down to 150 by monday, that starts my 3rd week. sstill no alcohol and is that why the weight is streaming off? not sure. DaniMae, get the protein powder from wal-mart. make sure it has the LOWER carbs. read the back here is a good receipe that I have been using: for 11 oz glass ice water - 1 cup? maybe 1 1/4 cup 1 TBS sugar FREE vanilla pudding 1 TBS envoa oil or coconut oil ( both at wally world) blenderize this until good and mixed... Add your protein powder about 1 1/2 scoops. PULSE until blended that is the low down.. I have also added greek yogurt ( not a wally world) used koolaid ( kind that you have to add the sugar - SPLENDA) for the water about 1/4 c berries ( straw,black,blue,rasp) It actually taste like the Slim fast. (at wally world only more expensive) well everyone thanks for all the good thoughts! |

152.5! Wow! You've almost caught up with me. Mine was 151 this morning which is good considering I blew it all last week and it my TOM right now. Maybe in a few days it'll be 150 again! Thanks for the recipe. I'll try it whenever I pick up some powder. I eat my eggs with sauteed onions and mushrooms with a little melted cheese on it. Mmmmm....Do you like egg salad? Lots of mayo....

start of week 3
okay. here is it is 151.5 this morning.
now i start the next "phase". so far okay. but I have to think of soemthing else to eat for breakfast cause I really do not like eggs all the time. actually i strated this phase yesterday cause I ran out of protein powder and was to cheap to go buy some more. We are not supposed to have shakes. I guess i will buy the pre-made. had a diet coke for the 1st time in 2 weeks. WOOO WEEE! i felt high! caffeine will do that to you. now I will only drink CF diet coke. more to the point I should be drinking only water. still taking my vitamins and such. the potassium is getting to me. I am starting to twitch when i try to sleep. ALSO, had a small bout if acid reflux. what up? did not sleep very well and am a little tired today. work was speeding by this am. everything doen for the day. ![]() mental attitude: good. with trepidation about the weeks of eggs and meat. DiSA, not sure how you did this for so long. You give me inspiration! ![]() well, ttfn DANIMAE! ![]() way to go! |

Hey Kat, acid reflux could be from the diet coke? Glad to see your hanging on. Girl I don't believe in anything but his diet and keep in mind for that past 4years I have started a diet every single morning. I am down from the past 4 years, not sure why it is so slow but I have areas that I can clean up or do better so I'll continue on this journey. It's either this or the other and the other is no option for me.... Who says you have to have eggs for breakfast or shakes, fry you up a bunch of ground beef patties, porkchops, or chicken and have it for breakfast too! Think of it as getting your fat in-take and your metabolism going, not a breakfast.

I started baking homemade stuff like cookies and muffins for the kids...well you know. Cookie dough just tastes sooooo good! |

well it has been a few days. Work has kept me going hither dither and yon.
okay, here sis the jest... My sister was on this same diet. she started about a week earlier than i did. got to week 3 and still did not loose.. went through the whole week and no loss. we talked and decided that the 1st 2 weeks was what our bodies needed. get all the gunk out and start relatively fresh. Now, I am doing way low carb but eating dairy sometimes and feeling much better. I gained a 1/2 but that is to be expected as this is totally different than just the shakes. so, this am i was 152. much better than 160 at the start. I find that my taste for reg diet coke is not there. I have switched to CF diet and feel lots better. but I only drink on moderation. for the otehr I am still using the diet rite tangerine flavor... yum! tastes like light orange crush. I have been eating more meat in the am. but this is only 5 days so we will see. Going home to mom's house and one cannot be on a "diet" there. keep your fingers crossed for me. I tried on my black dress... I must say, I look AWESOME! big chest is looking better all the time! ![]() okay, DiSa, thanks for the encouragement. It could be the diet coke, i never know what sets it off. I really think it's stress. DaniMae, you can make all the cookies you want. do not eat them! mental attitude: fairly good. i like the way the clothes are fitting one me and no matter how much i loose I won't stop because I am losing to fast ( which has happened in the past) who cares! as long as i lose weight. I need to get more protein powder as I really like the shakes in the morning. I know, i know, I should eat the main meal in the am. I never have time. that is my problem. well, I will think about this and get back to you on the subject. well that's it for now, hoping to lose a couple lb's this week. official weigh in on monday. okay.this past weekend was very difficult. did I not say I was going to my mom's? and THEN to a bridal shower. I gained 2 lbs this past week. but in a holding pattern. back to the smoothies in the morning. I was walking this weekend but I need to walk more. I look fabulous in the clothes though. I even got a new dress. okay, it's black but looks great on my. now a place to wear it!
mental attitude: I obviously like my self to some point. But I could still loose the lbs. what a difference 9 lbs makes. TTFN for now. |

still going on with this. I did gain 2 lbs when I went home but got right back on the wagon and have lost 3 lbs.
Eating as low carb as I can, but getting the most carbs in the morning. by dinner time all i really want is a protein shake. an that is good for my GERD. going to start this new exercise program at the Y. something WILLS? was touted as the BEST cardio porgram with a levels able to work it. we will see. last night went to a BREWFEST. yeah i know, they had LOTS of little beers to samples. yes I sampled. It's been over a month since I actually had a beer. was not even buzzed. but it might have been due to the chicken quesadilla that I had for dinner. Mental attitude: good but no one has actually noticed that I lost any weight, well except for my father. thanks dad! Dani, dont' give up. that was my mistake. just get on this site and talk. well ttfn and will keep me/you updated on this slow process.
