Mog is getting Married - Mid Year Journal

Sarting a new thread for the mid year. Old one was "Halve the Bride" if anyone wants to check it out....

A brief re-cap: I have been doing Paul McKenna's ICMYT program in a haphazard fashion since December last year and losing slowly but very steadily. So far down 70 pounds in total. I recently added in a personal trainer twice a week. I LOVE it. Originally I posted my weightloss goals (which have not beenmet) and my New Year's Resolutions, which Ihave noe reviewed below.

New Years Resolutions revisisted - so how am I doing...

New Year's Resolutions

Firstly, I always get diapointed that we set these goals at the start of the year and don't leave room to ADD to them - like your peak of ambition is on January 1st? There's a whole year ahead with it's own exciting developments which might competely shift my perspeictives and render my current Resolutions insufficient... so I reserve the right to add them in.

Secondly some of mine are NOT expected to kick in straight away - it's not about doing it every day, but about getting the job done eventually.

*All my weightloss/fitness goals still stand (first post) as I missed Goal the First and still need to get there...

I am well behind my original goals.
I am ok with this for several reasons.
One I was TOTALLY in denial about my starting position size wise and my goals were size oriented (and frankly a bit ambitious). I did not start at a size 18-20 I was staring at a tight 22 POURED into an 18-20. (it is telling that 70 pounds down I am still wearing a couple of the same pairs of pants and mostly the same shirts, only now they fit or are a little bit loose but I don't need the next size down)
Secondly my progress has been slow but steady.
Thirdly I have not been particularly strictly adhering to the 4GR's and I am getting out the effort I put in
.
So in other words I am consistantly losing about 8 pounds per month eating whatever the hell I want whenever I want to. I am ok with this!

My NEW goal - get into a comfy fit size 14 for the wedding starting at a easy/loose size 18. I have nearly three months. I hope I can pull it off!

* Do this whole wedding thing. Nice 'n' vauge. by terms this loose I have damn near acheived it already. 80% done

A few subheadings:

- Pick a dress style done
- Get house sorted out for reception 75% done
- Finalise vows/music etc 90% done
- Invites/Decorations 80% done
- Organise Cattery (honeymoon related) done
- Make/buy rings
- Chinese Lanterns!!!! (I know what I mean) done
- Registery, somehow overcome the boy's reluctance done

*Stay at my current job (I have a habit of leaving jobs every 12 months) so far (but I am loathing it... havedecided that a new job in the same company is acceptable)

*Continue Good Work on NOT taking sick days (I have a bad history of wagging) took a lot of sick days but was genuinely sick for almost all of them

* Start taking Life drawing/Painting classes and Start making art again. This really needs to happen!! but hasn't yet - however HAVE been very creatively engaged with the wedding planning so it is not a total loss (I love how little idea I had of the impact of my wedding on my resolutions, the wedding has eaten my LIFE!)

* Use writing prompts to ... well, prompt some writing. Take part in 09 nanowrimo - Have been writing in response to prompts and of course blogging all over the place

* Join Friends of the Zoo and vollunteer there. not yet but membership is on the wedding registry and after the wedding I would have time.

* Find and take some classes during the year - Mog needs to have people to hang out with! And start Uni course via correspondance again - Mog's brain needs stimulus!!! not yet unless you count the personal trainer! but I am listening to audi lectures to keep my brain alive.

* Make more of an effort to be social. sorta we are inviting people over for cards more often. For us this is rampantly social.

And here is my CREED for 2009.

Think of the 5 Top things I am currently avoiding. Do one of them.

I still maintain that it is a good creed when I remeber to use it. I shall try a little harder.

So Mid-Year Resolutions

*Spend less time at work online and more time working
*Continue to go to the trainer 2xper week
*Add more at home exercise back in now that I love exercise and have all the gear
*Get to a size 14 for the wedding
*AFTER the wedding take a course and join a gym (it won't happen before)
*Sew my damn dress!!!

Food journalling - a new thing for me... this is mostly to help me keep track of my choices and to encourage a committment to breakfast.

Yesterday:

B: Special K and whole milk
L: Tuna
S: Handful of dried fruit and nuts
D: Chicken enchiladas with tomatoes capsicum and side sald.

Today:

B: Wholemeal multigrain toast w/butter and jam
S: Apple
L: Forgot to bring it!!! *Annoyed*
S: Dried fruit and nuts and two "full of fruit" bikkies
S: Pink Big M (flavored milk)
D: (planned) homemade burgers plus side salad.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Ok I am having the BIGGEST pout ever.

My personal trainer is trying to break up with me!!!

He is trying to get me to swap to Cameron the guy who took me on Tuesday. Now Cameron is nice and when he gains some confidence he'll be really good but he's not Mark. Mark is awesome, Mark is PERFECT for me and Dave. We have a couple-crush on Mark and he is THE reason we love training SO much.

I totally appreciate that as the business owner he wants to move away from one on one training and use his time to develop the business but at the same time I do not particularly feel motivated to spend SO MUCH MONEY (it is REALLY expensive) on Cameron, where as I am HAPPY to spend it on Mark.

I'm really diappointed and upset and WORRIED that this is going to derail Dave who has only just started (after all it is having a crack at derailing me and I have been going longer and more often and as we all know LOVING it). There is bugger - all chance of him going to two days a week if it's not with Mark.

We had one of those really unsatisfying "we need to talk" type conversations that you have when a professional service provider tries to break up with you. Basically I can't FORCE him to train me and I don't want him to resent training me which would also suck, but I don't want to pay someone else that much money.

This is so ridiculously like breaking up - he doesn't want to stay with me and I'm not ready to let him go!!!

*Sniff*

I'm not ready to start seeing other trainers - I need time to grieve. How am I supposed to commit to Cameron when all the time I'll be casting longing glances at Mark wishing it was him causing me huge ammounts of pain.

hmph.

Ok MASSIVE pout and small teary and several sulky emails later I have decided that I will probably be able to grudgingly live with it on my single sessions (though all the color has drained out of my little world), but I don't think Cameron can cut it on the doubles yet.

And Mark is just so perfect for bringing out the best in Dave... this matters SO much to me.

I just don't want Dave to lose out because of it.

SO much of what we rave about after the session is not the work out but how great Mark is... Cam was .... nice. These things are NOT the same. I don't want Dave to stop going.

Mogget this is really sad. I think you should give it a week or two with Cam then speak to Mark again.

So sorry this has happened when you have been on such a high.

Ahhh well it's ok.

I get all attached and clingy and don't like change so I overreact like crazy - but basically I am over it now and don't care much one way or the other. I'd rather not work with someone who wishes they were doing somthing else, ya know.

Talked to Dave and he will keep going regardless and hadn't bonded too strongly with Mark not having had any one on one sessions and only recently having started. So it's fine.

Didn't end up having the burgers last night - Dave wasn't in the mood for food, so I just had cheese sandwiches instead.

Was HUNGRY at brekky time this morning so it looks like I have adjusted to the notion of breakfast.

B: Cheerios
S: small pile dried fruit and nuts
L: will be Tuna
D: The burgers or possibly eggs on toast - whichever dave cooks for me (I hate cooking after gym)

Woke up at 5am today and couldn't get back to sleep. Ideally in this situation I should get up and shoop but it was so COLD. So I read instead.

Okay, first of all, where I come from, if you want a trainer, you get the one you want. You're paying the $$ and unless he has a HUGE client load, he should continue to provide service to you and Dave. I have only ever referred a client to another trainer when they have been training with me for 2-3 years and I think a change of trainers would give them benefit (new ideas, new inspiration)! I am ranting mad at your trainer for breaking up with you! It simply ISNT professional!!!

Now onto your lovely new thread *hugs* very nice! I love how you have laid out your achievements and your future plans. I love reading the scribblings of the MOg! I look forward to following your continued progress!

Well I am cutting him some slack because he is the business owner and when I started he made it clear that he didn't want to take on clients personally - it was only after Aida did such a bad job with my first two sessions that he took me on to rebuild a client relationship (and he did that very well). To his credit he didn't unload me till he had a new good compatible trainer to unload me onto.

Happily my session on Friday with Cam was fantastic. He praises me wildly (which is all I ask of the world) and actually made me work harder than Mark - I work SO hard on Friday it was GREAT (and I am excited that he wants to get me doing assisted chin ups soon. CHin ups!!! Me?!).

Dave is happy to work with him too.

So I am ok with the new arrangements - but it's nice that you are outraged on my behalf

Dave and I went window shopping in a sprts store (a first for both of us) and ogled dumbells, treadmills, rowing machines and boxing training bag kits. I'm planning my next big purchase for after the wedding and the downstairs is becoming a fully equipped gym!

So my workout on friday was awesome. I am just improving every session, it's funny how at the moment my one armed push, abs, cardio and triceps are going off and improving by leaps and bounds but the seated row and bicep curls are plateuing with only slight improvement. Other times other areas improve... it's all this dynamic dance.

So what's news? One armed cable f*cker is currently my b*tch!!

80 lbs 15 reps
70 lbs 28 reps
60 lbs 25 reps

NO TEARS

I own it!

Rowing machine is up to 620metres in 3 min.

Tricpes push down is now 80 pounds - over 15 reps but can't remeber exactly.

In addition to my medicine ball swings for my obliques (LOVE them) and fit ball crunches (now with added weights oh my!) I am now doing fit ball prone holds (planks) which are a brutal way to end my session. I do them on the bosu at home as I don't trust my self on the ball without someone to spot me.

Have been doing girly push ups, bosu squats, and resitaband exercises, tricep dips etc at home too. And dave and I tqalk about gym and working out and exercises CONSTANTLY to each other and to unwary vistors. It is quite hilarious. Everyone who knows us is all confused and stunned. Dave has NEVER exercised deliberately before, and while I have at certain times in the past and knew that i loved exercise - the fact that i am so fat and LOVING working out just perplexes people.

Really ogling getting some weights, and a medicine ball or two. Found a new shooper that I am coveting - such a nice nice stride motion! Think the next BIG purchase will have to be a cable weight set up though as it is SO versatile, and Dave and I can both use it. He really wants a tready but I LOATHE treadmills so don't plan to buy him one (he also has expensive taste, not for him a cheapo model). I'll split a rowing machine with him though if he likes.

Caity might know the answer to this: Can you do Bicep curls on a cable weight? We haven't done any on it and I can't quite see how it would work, but assume with all the various options that it would be possible.

Once the wedding is over I am going to take up something like kickboxing as I have all this energy to use up the day or two after my sessions but I think I still need the structure of a guided class.

Dave has been telling me how gorgeous and hot I am looking (gee I wonder why I love him) and even my future father in law says I am looking really good. More importantly I am FEELING so good it is ridiculous. Next pay day I am buying my wedding corsetry... which means almost all my wedding stuff is done. outfit wise anyhow. And we have ALMOST chosen rings, probably get to order them after payday too.

I can tell once the wedding is over I will have so much more time and money to devote to being a fit little hardbody! How fun

stat updates

Had to measure for dress stuff so thought it would be worth recapping my stats.

When i started.

117kg/258 or so pounds.

Currently wear Australian Size 20 in most things, some things in 18 fit me (more or less), some things I need a 22. Bra Sixe 18G!

As of today...

Under boob = 102cm
Waist = 110
Hips = 135
Thigh = 82
Neck = 39
Upper Arm = 43cm
__________________

July 5 2009

Loose size 18, 16's fit depending on cut. Boobs hinder accurate judgement of fitting into tops.

96kg

Underboob - 92cm = lost 10cm
waist - 94cm = lost 16cm
hips - 120 cm = lost 15cm
thigh - 72cm = lost 10cm
neck - 35 cm = lost 4cm
upper arm - 40 cm = lost 3cm

16F bra size.

--------------------------------

Not where I wanted to be but ON MY WAY! (actually you know if I lost the same again off my measurement I would for the most part be really happy!)

I am finding it most interesting how much weight has come off my thighs. I have always be heavy legged, thunder thighed and thoroughly expected them to come off the slowest, but at the moment it would seem that the thing I am having the most trouble shifting is my big belly. This surprised me as it was the last place i gained, so I assumed it would be the first place to lose. Maybe it is just my least favorite so I notice it more... TMI ahead, it feels like the fat on my belly is harder, more solid than my other fat .... sometimes I worry it'll never go away!

Miss Iron Mogget! So many updates...where to start?? First of all, I am THRILLED that you are getting into exercise mode and it is becoming an important topic of discussion with you and Dave! Hurray! I love that you perplex people with your love working out! Stick it to 'em, Moggy!

It is marvelous that you are working on the ball, Bosu and cables. It sounds like your workout has become more advanced and challenging from where you started in the beginning. Doesnt it feel great to make a tough exercise your ******??? I am currrently owning the stiff legged barbell deadlifts! I am spanking them HARD!

Snaps for the fitness nook transforming into a fully equipped home gym. Indeed you will be the hard body Mog within the year! Can I get a WOOT WOOT!! To answer your question, YES, you can do bicep curls on a cable at home.
OWN IT!

You are transforming before my very eyes. I am so excited for you and your new shrinking measurements! Keep up the great work, girl. I am your biggest fan!

This is just freking hilarious to me.

Today I am scribbling out budget notes as wedding costs are being finalised, rings purchased etc - so on one side of the page we have paid for, on the other still to be paid.... and in all the margins the model numbers and costs of various bits of fitness gear, with purchase plan info. one thing at a time Mog. Pay for the wedding!

Great wrokout last night - to my surprise I hammered out 22 reps at 80 pounds on the cable push so if I am not careful that will go up again soon! Also up to 15 pounds on the bicep curls, whew! It's amazing how out of breath you can get working such a tiny muscle.

It seems each trainer wants to prove for himself that I can't yet do pushups so ate a little carpet again last night. However faced off against Dave for our ab portion and whupped him in the medicine ball twists... though he did better on prone holds (I haven't done them much). He was pretty green at the end of last night so he worked HARD.

It was the first session last night where my cardio level was not increased, though my step rate did go up, and I improved a little on the rowing machine but not much.

We've switched from swisse ball hip flexes to floor hip flexes and next week I get weight added.

Everything else is much the same.

Although last night was my 11th session so after Friday we will be changing up my program a little to keep my body on it's toes. Fair enough but 'grump, I hate change!'.

i love it. squee!

Eating well, and ramped up my walk to work this morning to a higher pace (knocking 6 minutes off my usual time) - bugger them they can with me being sweaty and whiffy :P

The logging my food thing didn't last long, it is so TEDIOUS to do. Anyhow my breaky eating is now sorted and I am making good choices 80-90% of the time now I would say. Particularly if I don't keep soft white bread in the house. Too easy to shovel down and not easy at all to eat mindfully.

Hiya Mogs!

Looks like you have had a very busy week, indeed! How is the new change up to your workout program going? Any soreness? I am still sore after every weightlifting workout. It is DIVINE!

How are the wedding plans coming along? Any new news? We need an update, girl. Miss ya!

P.S. You have email!

Last Friday I was having an offically crap day. OMS and feeling fat and ugly and SOOOO tired. Was generally depressed and convinced I would look like crap at my wedding. Wanted to quit my job, dump the boy, give up on gym, cancel the wedding and eat myself to death. (BUt as I knew it was all PMS induced madness did none of these things).

I dragged myself to my training session Friday night and within 10 minutes was happier than I had been all day and by the end of my hour felt fantatsic! It was a great workout and I felt awesome afterwards, high as a kite on endorphins. WooooT!

I also just completely kick that one armed cable wuss's booty - 80 pounds, 30 reps. then 2 sets of 70 pounds 30 reps. BAM! I'm so on top of it I am almost sorry to see it go!! (but not quite) Bought myself new sneakers, even though I actually refused to add treadmill inot my routine. It's only there to change up the cardio and I am not interested in jogging. At all. Personally i think it is a silly thing to do if you are very heavy as it is really hard on your joints, and hello? BOUNCING!!! So why do it if you can get your cardio elsewhere. But still, new runners that make walking all comfy.

Also I tried on a 'new' (not worn in several years) top over the weekend that looks so smoking hot that I have had a complete turn around and felt pretty (even put on make up!) so I am much less bummed about the wedding now and feel I will probably scrub up okay. Plus I have two more months of busting my butt at the gym.

My program changes TONIGHT and I have some new exciting exercises to do... this of course means no more nemisis, the one armed cable push will be gone from my life!! Joy! no doubt I will find a new exercise that gives me trouble, but as I have done before I will triumph and kick it's behind

Wedding update!!

The boy's amazing super hero comic book alter ego inducing purple leather trench coat arrived on Saturday. It is pants wettingly perfect and he looks HOT (or will once he stops grinning like a schoolboy!).

We also FINALLY placed our ring orders and paid for them so the wedding rings are on the way.

Dave has been working on bits of the ceremony and his vows (and making me cry with sappyness).

Still procrastionating wildly on invites and dress, which are our last remaining BIG issues. Still undecided on whether to fork over stupid amounts of money for an industrial strength corset for me (that won't fit in 6 months), or whether to just get some spanks type support wear for far far less.

I've been a bit quiet lately - actually working at work :P Things are going well, eating well and continuing my training. Getting OBVIOUSLY stronger all the time which rocks. My trainer has promised to give me the Assisted Chin up Machine on my next cycle if I keep up the good work. I am getting PECS! I find that hilarious. While I don't feel like I am losing weight at the moment, and things aren't falling off me I AM seeing some subtle differences in my body that I am enjoying. While I am not getting appreciably leaner at the moment, all the blubber is hanging better! I am ALMOST not hating my bare arms!! No visible tone or anything and I have crazy bingo wings, but just the regular side view is getting okay... it looks like a plump arm instead of like a leg of ham.

My belly vexes me - I have worked out that it IS getting smaller but because of the stretchy skin it hangs - if I support the stretchy skin bit the actual belly wouldn't have a fold-over hang - ie if I was on my way UP not down my belly wouldn't be as bad, and pants would fit better!! grrrr. (anyhow ordered industrial strength belly squishing corsetry for the wedding woohoo!!)

Softly softly catchee monkee.... I am on my way. 2 months to go folks.... I WILL continue to improve. I WILL be pretty on the big day. I may not be at my goal size but I will be fit, strong and healthy with great posture and a huge smile. I am actaully having a training session the morning of the wedding! What a great way to burn off some nerves!

Man I can't believe how slack I am - I never posted my new workout details. It's pretty awesome.

5 min high intensity elliptical
5 min high intensity cycling

Kneeling Dead Lifts with Dumbbells (20 pounds +)
Bent Over Row (17 pounds)
Hammer Curls (15 pounds)
DumbBell Chest press on the fit ball (20 pounds each hand)
Tricep Pushups (this my friends, is my new Everest!! I accidentally told my trainer to "go bleep himself" when told how many I had to do... well... as a result I had to do another set Arrrrrrggggghhhh!)
Dumbell Russian Twists on the fit ball (not so much hard as bloody awkward)
Crunches with Medicine Ball Throws (owowowowowowowow)
Prone holds

I LOVE it. We have changed out times to morning (ohmygod) so that Dave can stop *****ing about being stressed at work trying to finsh early enough to get to the gym (the PLAN was for him to go to work early so it was easy but he doesn't and then gets pissy).

Everything is going well.

Tremendous workout this morning! Morning sessions obviously work really well for Dave and for me as well. We went HARD!
All the same stuff but harder faster better more...
Cam is going to get me doing pench presses soon! Weights added to the Russian Twist, that helped and they were less awkward this time.

All really brilliant. Absolutely perfect way to start the day.

Wow I have been drinking SO much water today... I'm on my third litre (and about 400th trip to the loo). This confirms my suspicion that when i was working out at night I was not completely rehydrating afterwards.

I love getting to walk around all day feeling my post workout muscle tone. My favorite sensation at the meoment is the sensation of a perfectly flat plane of abdominal muscles. True, I AM storing them behind hilly jiggles of fat, but I can FEEL the flat core. Exciting. I can feel this awesome toned buff body, I am STRONG, I have energy I feel good... it is frustrating that it is still hidden but it is going to be SO exciting when it is revealed.

I cannot belive I ever wanted to be "thin" and not toned/fit/strong!

Fancy actually looking fine and NOT even getting to feel as awesome on the inside as someone who weighs twice as much! NOT FOR ME!!

A big Aussie MWAH! to Caity.... coz I am bouncy like a bosu and happy as!

"Ab"solutely! LoL I am right there with you. If I didnt have a layer of fat over the core, it would be rock hard like a bodybuilder. It DOES feel good to feel the solid wall of muscle underneath!! WOOT for muscle!

I KNOW!!! How can people not want to workout, be fit and strong (both inside and out)??? it is So empowering to have toned arms and legs and to know that your going to crush the numbers on your next workout...improving each and everytime you hit the weights. I LIVE for this sorta stuff. It makes you strong mentally, being disciplined, tracking your workouts and striving for more. Get in there and own those bench presses, Moggy!!
