Vegasneon's 100 lb countdown Journal

It occured to me tonight that I now have just under 100 lbs to lose to get to my estimated goal. Somehow this is more exciting to me than reaching my first goal of getting to 250 lbs was. It was really hard to get to 250. I kept bouncing up a few lbs and it seemed like several weeks that I was so close but couldn't quite get there. When I finally did I was not excited about it at all. When I got to 248 I was down 50 lbs from my highest weight- that should have been more satisfying than it turned out to be. Maybe because each step seems to take forever, once I get there I am already "over it". Yesterday I just felt like I might have lost a couple of lbs- and I had. I weighed just a smidge under 245. It took me about 16 hours to realize I now have less than 100 lbs to lose! I have thought of myself as being more than 100 lbs overweight for so long I cant even remember when it started!
Crazy as it sounds the thought of now looking forward to double digits to lose instead of triple is very encouraging.

Thank you Blondie for the nice comments! Funny yours was one of the two Journals I read last night before posting mine. You are off to a great start!

Not weighing myself for a few days because yesterday I was at a Birthday party at Chuck E Cheese and ate pizza and had a lemon poppyseed muffin. I feel huge and bloated and I just dont want to know! Its really hard for me to not weigh myself every day, usually I weigh at least three times a day just because its a bad habit. Today I just shoved the scale under a dresser. My scale is so unreliable anyway that I prefer to go by what the Wii Fit says.

Congrats on the loss so far.

I used to step on the scale multiple times a day as well..it is a hard habit to break. I think after Chuck E Cheese staying off is a good idea...just keep working your plan..seems like you are on your way to meeting your goal

Diane, thanks for the good thoughts.

So often you read here about someone meeting their goal and then gaining it all back or losing XXX amount and gaining it all back and more. I have been dieting for over 40 years (I'm 50) and only once did I lose a lot of weight and start to come close to being my goal. I'm not sure which is worse!
I can't do anything about my past but I just know that this time I will continue until I am satisfied with my size and I wont ever let myself gain more than a few lbs back.

I still feel bloated and icky- actually more so than I did. Maybe I'm coming down with something. I'm just being a good little LC'er in the meantime.

Just checkin in. Have you weighed yet? I ate lots of salty ham on Easter and didn't drink enogh water. I went from 297.6 back up to 300+ and hovered there for a few days. I hated it. I started drinking a lot of water and am now finally losing again. Im like you, I weigh daily. My mother got me a pair of weght watchers digital scales for christmas and I love them. I weigh several times a day too...and see the fluctuations....but I only count the weight I weigh when I first wake up.

Don't give up if the scale is not your friend for a few days. Just tweak your WOE. Hope you check back in soon and let us know how its going!!! Im rootin for ya!!

Here I go again!

You would think I would have learned by now! Everytime I hit a new low weight I bounce back up a few lbs for two weeks or so. Sometimes I think it is because I am sabotaging myself but this time I didn't do that. Still today I weigh 246 and the day I started my journal I was 244.9.
I have no explaination I just seem to do that.
I just cant believe I fell for that lower weight again when I should know it never sticks right away!
This is my weight loss from my Blog:
Dec 2 - 265
Dec 5 - 266
Dec 17 - 270
Jan 2 - 272
Jan 15 - 261.5
So there I went up for 2 weeks then whooshed down.
Jan 28 - 260 scale had been bouncing up and down
Feb 9 - 255.5
Feb 24 - 253.5
Mar 19 - 253
Mar 25 - 251 per Cigna (Health screening)
Mar 31 - 251ish (scale was saying 248 to 251 )
Apr 6 - 247.5
Apr 13 - 244.9
Apr 18 - 247.something
Apr 19 - 246

So I am down 40 lbs since Oct 10? but 21 of that was in the first 7 weeks or so.
March and April have basically sucked so I have to get it in gear.
I started a Journal so that I would try harder since it was out there for other people to see. So far it hasn't made me work very hard.

Hi Rebecca..
I know you will push past this point...and I know it is frustrating..but you WILL do it

How about a reward for yourself once you push past this?
Maybe that will help you

Do you watch calories? Eventually in this journey they will matter...maybe that is something to look at.

Remember..we are here cheering you on

Thanks for the good wishes Diane. Actually I only track off and on. I always have to work at keeping my calories up- left to my own devices I'm usually at 800 to 900 calories. Which is OK some of the time I just don't want my body to get used to that. I should track again for awhile just to see where I am at.
So far today I've had 2 hard boiled eggs, I slice of turkey lunchmeat and one slice of cheese rolled up together. I'm making Taco meat for later- several people (Blondie for one) have been talking about their Taco salad and I really want it for dinner. I will likely have shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, salsa and a little sour cream. Maybe I'll get over to FitDay and see where that will put me for the day before I do it and then I can make adjustments beforehand.
Its a Beautiful day here in Las Vegas. Even better because my Grandbabies are here with me.

Too....Much....Cheese
Today I made the pizza crust that is 3 cups of cheese and 2 eggs and seasonings. I should not have put more cheese on top of the pepperoni but it wouldn't look right otherwise right? Like that matters. I think I will go back to making the deep dish pizza from about.com, it was really good, eggy but good.
Tonight I am having more of the Taco salad- it was pretty good yesterday.
Yesterday my husbands friend in New York called so I knew he would be on the phone awhile and I jumped up and went to sort my closet. I was surprised at some of the shirts I fit into, I'm going to wear something really old everyday this week and LOVE it! I fit into a size smaller jeans but they were tight and I knew they would be uncomfortable sitting for 10 hours at work so they went into the bag for the next size. I do still have one of those big buckets with the rope handles from Wal-Mart to go through but I was trying on clothes for an hour and my hair was all staticy and I was hot and tired.
Today I feel thinner- I can't wait to get home and jump on the Wii Fit and see what he says. I felt like crap all last week and finally tonight I feel good. Hopefully I feel this good and somewhat energized when I get home.

Hi Rebecca...
Sounds like you are getting a whole new wardrobe from your closet!!

I like that cheese crust pizza too..but like you I can easily overdose on cheese. Have you tried the cauliflower crust pizza that Cleo created...it is in the recipe forum as well and that is really good, plus you get to add in some veggies. I am not a big fan of cauliflower, but I do like this pizza.

Have a good day

Diane - I do want to try the Cauli Pizza because it seems to be so well regarded. Maybe my DH would eat that one, he won't eat eggy ones. He likes me to make a Ground Beef "crust" with sauce, veggies and cheese on top. I like Cauliflower but usually only eat it made like mashed potatoes or raw with dip.
I always wonder what your dogs are named, they are beautiful. Are they litter-mates? I am one of those "crazy cat ladies" so we feel a dog would be too much plus the cats would probably torture it- at least the evil one would. I have two elderly cats and four just over a year old. I really never meant to have so many at once.
I really do appreciate all your cheerful comments!

My DH who rarely like my lc meals enjoys the cauliflower pizza..it is probably one of the better lc pizza recipes I have tried.

Thanks for the comments on my dogs.
They are both rescue dogs and not related.

The one on the left is Duke, we just adopted him 3 weeks ago -- 15 months old and part Anatolian Shepard and part lab. The other is 6-1/2 year old Rex and we have had him about 5 years now..he is golden/lab mix and my big baby. These guys are also my walking buddies.

I do like cats but DH doesn't so we have the dogs. I just love these guys...they are there to greet me with tails wagging when I get home from work. Before we got Duke the routine when I got home from work was Rex would race me to the bed...he would sit there and listen about my day with no questions asked...and I just petted him. Now with two dogs they both seem to fight for attention, but they get along GREAT.

I realized tonight that I haven't been weighing myself! Until very recently I was weighing myself several times a day. Everytime I went into the bathroom I would weigh myself at least 3 times- why? because my crazy scale never says the same thing twice. One day last week I weighed myself then took a shower and weighed 13 lbs less afterward! Usually it only varies by 3 to 5 lbs but that was funny. So anyway I shoved the scale under a dresser and since I havent been going on the Wii Fit everyday like I should I have not been weighing. Two days ago the Wii said 245.1. The Wii always admonishes me to weigh at the same time everyday because we can fluctuate up to 2 lbs during the day- well I would like to know what is my lowest weight part of day so I could weigh then! I was trying to weigh at 11am because that is just before I go to bed but that only works Tues, Wed and Thurs so it always ends up at all kinds of hours. I have been VERY good so I better at least be back to 244.9.
So why is my goal weight 145 anyway? I dont know. I have never been at a good weight so I don't know where I will be at goal. When I was overdue by two or three weeks with my first baby they sent me to an OB/GYN from the Womens clinic I had been going to. I weighed 205 then, the Dr said "is this weight right?" I said yes expecting him to yell at me for being fat or say I looked like I weighed more. No, he said he would never have guessed I weighed that much and that because I carried my weight so well (thats a matter of opinion) I should never let anyone tell me I should weigh any less than 150. When I was growing up we always watched the beauty pagents and it always seemed like most of the girls weighed 120. I grew up thinking that MOST women should weigh 120 lbs. When I was 18 or 19 and worked at the phone company I heard a girl say she weighed 150 and I was shocked because she wasn't overweight, she wasn't a string bean but she looked fine and she was maybe an inch or two shorter than me! So for most of my life I felt that I should probably shoot for 140 and just recently (like within 2 years) I moved it up to 145. The last time I weighed 145 I was quite a bit shorter! At ten years old I weighed 130 when they weighed us at school. By the time I was 18 or 19 I weighed 250. I didnt look as bad as now though, I remember the waist size of my jeans then was 6 to 8 inches less than now. I gained enough weight after that to barely be squeezing into my clothes so I started fasting not even knowing what I weighed. When I finally weighed again I was 190 and ultimately got to somewhere in the 170s before I got pregnant. After I had my daughter (late 1980) I stayed at 180 for a year and a half and gained to 190 in a 3 month period. That was June 1982. After my son was born in late 83 I stayed around 200 for about 3 years then was up to 230 by 93. In 96 or 97 I weighed 240 and stayed there until 2000. I always had setpoints that I would stay at for a few years at a time. I could diet or pig out but stay at pretty much the same weight and then that setpoint would move up. In 2000 I gained weight for no reason I could see but didn't have insurance so I didn't consult a Dr not that I would have anyway- I hate going to the Dr. I believe at Christmas 2000 I weighed 286. In May 2003 after not weighing for quite awhile I weighed myself and the scale said 298! I was so upset that I was close to 300 lbs that I decided that I would do ANYTHING no matter how unhealthy to not gain any weight and to start losing quickly. I thought about going back to suffering a low fat diet and how slow it was but I was in a panic and decided to try the one diet I had never tired- Atkins. I had always heard all this bad press and that it would make you unhealthy, give you heart disease and you would lose and then gain it all back and more. I decided that I did not CARE, I had to give it a shot. I bought DANDR and started the diet and then just kept researching on the Internet and educating myself. I lost 25 lbs and was able to have a "cheat day" once a week. Well those cheats became more and more frequent and by Oct 08 I was up to 286 from 273. I did Low Carb off and on those 5 years or I would likely weigh more now. Still it is crazy that I could never commit until now. Every year at the end of the year I weighed 286 or close to it, I dont know why but that exact number is in Fitday over and over since 2003. Actually i dont know why I am ruminating over these figures, to me all that matters is I am fat and I dont want to be fat. The actual statistics are pretty meaningless. I'm just lucky I have always been healthy. Now I just want to be comfortable- both physically and mentally.

Well now I have gone from weighing too much to hardly ever. Mostly because I havent been doing the Wii Fit which is another problem. I havent been as careful this past week as I should have with my food either. I have decided that for the entire month of May I am not going to have anything off plan. I am also going to keep everything down to Atkins 72 levels. I usually dont limit how much splenda. salad or green vegetables I have so I will review the details by then and plan ahead for meals. I told DH I would not be having anything off plan in May and he said he will go along with that too. I just want to hurry up and lose a little faster before the heat hits.

Maybe start gathering some recipes for meals and snacks

One day at a time....

Well I've been reading the Forum but not posting much. I don't really seem to fit in here very well. I finally got under 245, to 243.4 by going back to just eggs, meat, salad and broccoli. I haven't had hardly any caffienne either since I had such a bad two weeks of not being able to sleep more than a couple hours at a time and never anything close to 8 hours in a day. What a pity party!! Time to lighten up. I need to be better at exercising. Lately even on the Wii Fit I poop out way too soon or start to feel really shaky and hungry coz I go on before eating to get the best weight! I know- just keep on working it. I wont give up even though this is going slow. There just aren't enough hours in the day to do what I want to do.

I just had the best lunch. I often have hamburger meat seasoned as taco meat or with italian seasoning usually in a bowl with cheese on top or on top of shredded lettuce or cabbage plus cheese. I kept seeing that others make "Big Mac" or PattyMelt in a bowl so I only seasoned the meat with garlic and lemon pepper and cooked some diced onion with it and at work I added cheese, mayo, mustard and relish and it WAS really good. Just a little different but a really nice change. I shouldnt have had relish packets from work though- next time I wont.
Last weekend I made one of those flax crackers that is just equal parts flax meal and water and whatever spices and then microwaved on parchment. Well last weekend I thought that was just the best darn thing and yesterday I made one to finish off some dip and it was just bleh! I made it exactly the same so its just me- I was probably more desperate for a cracker the first time.

Trying to figure out when would be the best time for a once weekly weigh-in. Since my hours are so different on work days than off days as far as eating and sleeping I just dont know what is best. I guess I should just go for a time and day that I can pretty much always bet on getting on the Wii Fit- I trust that scale more. Even if its not my lightest part of the week or day it will still show the differences the same, right? I really want to re-measure myself but dont want to be disappointed! I tried on a belt the other day that I thought would be plenty big and it barely made it around my waist so I dont know. I guess I should know even just to kick myself in the butt and do better!

Diane- I actually had started reading that thread of yours back when you started it for a page or two. I went back tonight at the point you linked to and got hooked! I started over but am only up to page 11. Maybe I'm weird but I like to read things from the start. Its almost like a soap opera- well not really but its nice to see peoples journey- for example Moggets getting ready for her wedding and the other weddings she has attended lately. I love that Spring graphic you started it off with too. Once I get caught up I'll say Hello to the group. Thanks!

This weekend I want to get some stuff done! I never have the energy and I am so sick of myself! JUST DO IT ALREADY!!!!!!

Monday I will be seeing my sister after over a year- if she doesnt notice I lost weight I will be disappointed but its very likely she wont since we rarely see each other. She lives clear across the US so its maybe once a year and not every year. Next year there wont be a person alive who wont be able to see the difference!!

I'm going to have a 4 day weekend and I have so much I want to get accomplished! I've felt fairly energetic this past week- energic for ME anyway so hopefully I will stay that way and do a lot.
I wasnt going to eat anything off plan for the month of May. Ooops I guess I am hopeless I had fries, freshly cooked fries from work which are soooo good. I didnt even think about my May promise until it was too late. Oh well life goes on.

In the morning I am going to go test drive a Chevy HHR, I have been looking at them since they came out and my car is almost 5 years old. I have to travel quite a way to work and now that we only have one car it gives me more of an excuse- I want to feel secure. If I dont buy a car I have to buy tires. I have always insisted on a V6 car so I may not like the 4 cylinder but we really dont NEED a V6, we dont go anywhere and this car was reviewed well. Its cute- maybe I wont fit comfortably in it anyway.

I've lost 56 lbs now. I am actually starting to feel like it too.

Well May hasnt gone as well as I had planned. I have to work hard to get losing- I seem to be fizzling out. Food hasnt been agreeing with me. Last night all I had was Kielbasa and I felt like I had overeaten by a lot. I guess I need smaller portions now. I felt somewhat energetic on Friday and Saturday but now I just feel blah. My DH said I looked like I had lost a few lbs- I think it was the shirt I was wearing but I did loose a lb.
Next week I will be on vacation- hopefully getting things done.

Well we had 4 Crystal Light Slurpees in the last 2 weeks and the Peach Mango was just too good to be good for you so I did some research and it has a LOT of carbs! Something like 38 grams in the big size, yikes! Yesterday both the Wii and the scale said I had gained 4 lbs! I'm sure its mostly water weight but I hate to see those yo yos going up. Still I usually only yo yo 2 to 3 lbs!
So yesterday as soon as I got home I did DDR and Wii fit. I need to do something every day- I have really been slacking.
We got EA Sports and I'm going to open that today and start their 30 day challenge.

I know we shouldnt compare ourselves to other but I see others doing soooo much better than me! I'm a slacker.

Well now its been 2 months and I have been pretty stagnant! This week really sucked coz I came back from vacation, had no food prepared ahead to eat before work or take to work and food at work has been worse than usual. Yesterday I was starving all night- good thing I couldnt leave to get food. Tonight I brought tuna salad and a really good cream cheese dip and celery and I havent eaten anything! Also yesterday after climbing the walls for food my brain got fuzzy. First I couldnt get this guy into his voice mail- it took me like 3 tries! Then I go to buy gas and cant remember my PIN #, the same pin # I have had for 9 years! Then I go to the lovely DMV to register my car figuring there is no reason to drag my plates in with me and I couldnt remember my plate # !!!! I always know my plate # !! Luckily its "tied" to my drivers liscense (who knew?) so it was OK. The reason I was hungry and then brain foggy was because of lack of good food choices I ate substandard work soft serve ice cream and popcorn! Damn Carbs %^&"d. me. UP. !!!

I know better. I have to get myself under control. I have just been too lazy to bake or cook good LC food and the chocolate cheesecake I made DH was sucky! It was very firm and dense but tasted better after a couple days- what is it with the taste having to ripen with LC desserts? Weird. It was dumn for me to make a full recipe of one I had never tried before- live and learn. I shouldnt be making LC desserts anyway even tho he is usually the only one who eats them!

I have to make a real plan for food and exercise and then DO IT!!

Maybe I will start posting my daily menu and then people can berate me and I will learn to eat right!

Ok so I am somewhat prepared for the week. I at least have boiled eggs and cooked seasoned ground beef. Also I made a triple batch of almond parm crackers.

My regular scale says 241 and it usually says more than the Wii fit does.

I want to be in the 230's NOW.

9 days later- still the same weight.
I went and ordered new glasses and the girl said "Did you just lose a lot of weight"? and I said yes, 57 lbs. She said "your face used to be so much bigger"!
Made me feel good.

Reading "The Stubborn Fat Fix" but dont know if I will try it. Its more relaxed LC, kind of like what I do sometimes with occasional bread or chocolate in a controlled way. Have to see. At least I wouldnt be cheating! LOL

I'm still stuck at the same weight! I have been so diligent and careful now for 4 days and very very VLC and.....nothing. Have not been able to exercise because I have been in too much back pain for almost 2 weeks but its starting to let up.
I may not be eating enough- I havent tracked my calories, but still I should at least have some initial loss even if I'm not eating enough.

Patience and time.........yuck!

Ok so I am still stuck in the same 3 lb rut (up and down, up and down) BUT at least I am still eating food that is healthier for my body.
I still have the benefit of very little joint pain, no more acid reflux and even though I am wearing BIG clothes they arent as big as they used to be.
I really should stop eating EDR food and bring all my own food to work. I end up getting things like breaded shrimp now and then and occasionally have nothing decent to pick from there but something kind of carby.
When I was losing weight I was preparing food ahead for the week, I was only eating salad and sometimes plain meat at the EDR and I was using the Wii Fit.
Got to get it in gear.
