Dani, It is good to here that you have a plan of attack in place. I know what you mean by the friendly competition. I don't see it as competition as much as I don't want to be the one to give up. It does touch competitive though. When I saw you post your bikini shot, that pushed me to do more.
It is strange how that works.

You are doing such a great job. Like I said in my journal. You are going to have those days, those moments. One great thing is that you can post here and be supported. If you step back and look at the big picture, You have made huge progress. I can identify with stress and wanting to overeat, but for some reason, This past year. When stressed or not wanting to work out. I have said to myself. "This is precisely when you need to take care of yourself the most". I have also had my moments when for whatever reason when my dear wife who can't say no to the ten girl scouts in our neighborhood and we have several boxes lying around. After 5 days of seeing them and passing them up. One night, I just say screw it have a glass of milk and about 10 cookies. next day, I shake it off and regroup.
I guess what I am saying is be gentle on yourself and let yourself be human.

P.S. I don't mean at all to lecture or pontificate. I just want to share my experience with you and I guess that I feel Protective of you being too hard on yourself.

Thanks Rich...you are so right...I have to keep the big picture in mind and not let a few bad days derail me. As you point out we are human after all.

Hi G! Good to see you! Hope all is well and you have a great week too.

Yesterday I went to my students' graduation ceremony. I always love graduations, especially being a teacher. I teach students who have been labeled "at-risk" for finishing school, so to see them up there beaming with pride over their accomplishments makes me so happy. Many of them are the first ones in their family to finish school which is the icing on the cake!

I had a great moment yesterday that is weight related. I saw a former student of mine for the first time since he graduated last year. Before the ceremony, I waved to him from the other side of the auditorium and he didn't wave back. When I ran into him afterwards he came up to me and said, "Mrs. D, I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you! You've gotten so much skinnier!" I thanked him and told him that his comment about my weight made my day!

Cold is a lot better, so I'm planning to get in 30 min. cardio today after work. Hoping this is going to be a great week! Only 9 more days of work left until summer vacation!

Hey, Dani. Chin up, girl. We women know all too well how TOM and hormones can affect our moods, our satiety, our scale weight, our cravings. It's totally beyond our control. It can sabotage us from every angle, and leave us feeling defeated.

Don't let it happen. It's a valley that you will emerge up and out of with renewed determination and focus. It's only a couple pounds on the scale, and it's manifested through water gain and bloating. A day or two, and it will be gone and you'll feel back in control again.

We've all been there. We can't be perfect with our agendas and our meal plans 365. I wish it could be that easy. But we all know it's not.

You've done a great job, and it's commendable that you're assessing your weaknesses and stumbles, and you know what you have to do to regroup, refocus, and get back on track. The hardest part of that is the first couple of days, and then it's autopilot all over again.

Hang in there and know that we're here to provide the wind beneath your wings.

Did 30 minutes of cardio walking this evening. In much better spirits...emotionally and physically. Cold is a lot better. Thank goodness it is over because it lasted a good, solid week.

Just was thinking about the 185 postings on my journal, but the almost 2,400 views it has received since starting it in April. Does anyone ever wonder about all the lurkers? People that read your stuff but don't post? It may just be my weird mind thinking this.

Night LCF friends!

Dani, glad you're feeling better.

As for the lurkers, I think it's great that fitness journals provide an excellent one-stop resource for people, whether they be lurkers waiting to start their own journey, or people whose journey is ongoing and merely wish to be fed with inspiration, insight, and motivation from others' experiences.

A little tired today...throat is still a little sore, but nose is much better. I'm going to take it easy this afternoon...don't want to get sick again and then do an hour of Super Callan later this evening.

Here's a few relatively new photos of myself:

This first one was taken a couple of weekends ago while out with friends:

This one was taken prior to my students' graduation Sunday:

You can see my gray hairs starting to pop out on the side near my temples...almost time to color! My students sometimes like to think that they are the cause of my premature gray hair.

Should I make one of these pictures my new avi? Or keep the current one? (taken in April)

Tough question about the new avi pic. I love the teal on you, but you just look so sophisticated and classy with your hair pulled back. Lemme look again.....

You're smiling more in the teal.

But your current avi is so cool... you look like you're either plotting something or (if you're like me) simply being a bit smug about how amazing you look and thinking "oh yeah...I'm hot!"

Obviously I am a Libra and completely inept at making decisions.

Mwah!!!

Funny that you should say that about my hair pulled back being so sophisticated. Usually I wear it pulled back when I'm too lazy to straighten it! Which is a lot of the time!

Yeah, I do seem to have a smug look on my face in the April shot...the old me would never ever classify myself as "hot" but I do kinda like how I'm looking now, lol. Maybe confidence has something to do with my look in that picture.

Mwah back you precious Libra!!! FYI, I'm an emotional and loving Cancer the Crab.

Thanks Rich and Twyla for your vote...I'll keep up April's avi for now.

Did 1 hour of Super C last night...feeling a bit sore today, but good. Eating is going great. Energy is better than yesterday. Cardio today after work.

Thanks! Well, it is actually 98 total...5 of the 98 are Super C. I should probably change the wording on my signature.

My stupid cold is back. Everyone at work is sick...students, teachers, administrators...I had about 3 solid days of feeling better, and then bam...sore throat, cough and stuffy nose is back. Headache right now, but I think it is because I kept waking last night coughing...not a lot of sleep.

Going to take it easy again today. So aggravating. I am eating well despite all this and I just really really want to exercise...but I can't feeling this crappy.

I hate to keep writing about this but this is where I am at right now. Maybe I should change my journal to "Debbie Downer's Journal" because I feel like that's how all my entries have been lately. Well, at least I just made myself laugh outloud......and then cough...damn sickness!

Dani, It is good to let us know what is going on with you. When people take off and stop writing in their journals, I take it as they don't care. It clearly shows that you do care. You need to rest. You have the rest of your life to exercise. right?

Take care of yourself. I am glad that you are posting.

Well, since posting this morning...my cold symptoms are getting worse. I started off this morning just with the cough, sore throat, headache and stuffy nose. As the day progressed (spent it literally in bed) I began to get warm. Took my temperature about 6 PM and I was 99.3. Took more meds, ate and drank some water and then back to bed. Just woke up (it is 1 AM here) and my temp is now 100.3. I'm thinking it may be the dreaded virus all over the news. The guidance counselor at school had symptoms of it (including the fever) but was not officially diagnosed because she didn't have any nausea or vomiting. Her cold/virus lasted about 2 weeks as well. She was out for a few days earlier this week and came back on Thursday. I started feeling sick again on Friday... I wish my school nurse had told her to stay home...thinking this must be who I got the current strain from. Most sick students, teachers at work just have the cold that I started out with...no fever.

Luckily, my husband doesn't have any of the symptoms yet. He's been taking care of me. If the fever persists, I will be calling out Monday and going to the DR. Not really how I planned on surviving the last week of school, but what can you do.

If I'm feeling up to it and bored...I'll post here. If you don't see me for a few days, it is because I am probably in nyquil lala land and turning on the Mac may be a challenge.

Love to all of you!

P.S. At least I'm not contagious thru the screen!

Thank you Rich. I think the prayers and positive thoughts helped...

My fever finally broke last night. Temperature is back to normal, but sore throat and stuffy nose persist. Was feeling really fatigued this morning so decided to stay out of work. May go in tomorrow. We'll see.

Hope to be back to feeling like myself soon!

Thanks Rich and T for your concern. I really am feeling much better today. Spent a half-day at work. Really had to go in...my last day of work is Friday and I would have been so behind with all the end of the year business if I had stayed out completely again today. My weight is down several pounds from signature but I think it is due to the fact that I ate so infrequently over the weekend with the fever so I'm hesitant to change it just yet. I slept so much over the weekend and I didn't really have an appetite. Going to weigh-in on Friday to see where I really am.

I'm still holding off on exercise...wanted to make sure my cold was really gone. Planning on doing an hour of Super C tomorrow night and then hopefully yoga class Thurs. night. If these go well, it will be back to cardio on Friday.

Shimmer!

2 more days of work...then SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!!

Feeling even better health-wise today. Sore throat is gone...just a little bit of stuffy nose left. No headaches, temp or aches. It feels good to feel more like myself.

I have tons of papers to correct tonight (got behind after being sick all weekend) so I hopefully will have time to do an hour of Super C. I'm sure my booty is going to be sore after almost a week of not doing it.

Eating is going very well. Feeling very in-control and back in my groove. Weight is still lower than signature (hovering around 138). Yay!
