We were. Someone hacked into and wiped my old account, so I had to start over. I look for the request!

Just checking in.

Two weeks in and four pounds down!

I wish I would have started weighing before one week in. I have no clue what my starting weight really was. I really need to tape measure myself too!

I've been re-discovering great low carb recipes. I think that's the key for me-- stay far, far away from anything processed BUT actually cook things that are appetizing to me, where I'm not "depriving" or boring myself. I'm allowing myself to still have wine and coffee, but I'm drinking my coffee black, and I've only had two glasses of wine in two weeks, so I'm still limiting myself. I've been doing true induction otherwise -- no nuts or berries yet. And, no soy this time, and I feel worlds better because of it! I'm avoiding anything with any bit of wheat in it, no matter how "low carb" it may be.

I joined a 24-hour gym, and I'll be starting to work out again this week. Hopefully tonight. I just need to buy a new gym back and find my workout clothes!

I know what you mean. I'm addicted to the casserole recipes lately, and most use cream cheese or shredded cheese!

Time for a quick check-in. I'm finally getting my thyroid straightened out and I have really high hopes that my body is getting back on track! FINALLY!! I restarted back in January and stayed the course; however, after about six months of low carbing and exercising my arse off, my weight still refused to budge! I was all kinds of frustrated and decided to pick back up in my quest for a good endocronologist who would finally listen and treat me.

Well, I found one. It turns out that Hashimoto's wasn't the only thing affecting my thyroid. It turns out I had papillary thyroid cancer too. So, thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes removed, radiation meds ingested, and I'm to the point where we're tweaking my thyroid meds. For a while there, I had to follow a low iodine diet, and I put low carbing on hold. That was in early July. Between the thyroid woes and the medication and the eating, I gained back everything plus in no time flat-- it's scary how fast I can gain weight now-- I didn't think it was possible for me to be that heavy! I started back up with low carb again in late August, at 238. Ten lbs came off immediately (water weight, no doubt), and six lbs are due to low carbing again. Today, I'm at 222.

So the scale is going in a downward direction again! =) I'm low carbing again, and I'm feeling great, better than I have in AGES =) Things are going really well!

Thanks, Jarrod! You know, I had to look twice and then three times to decide if that was you-- you've lost weight and it shows! I hardly recognized you/your picture! The "....'s" in your writing gave it away to where I was like, okay, that IS the same person! =)

I'm back on my way. Very happy to report that I've been addressing my health issues and the weight is FINALLY coming off.

As of today, I’ve been back to low carb eating for one month and have lost eight pounds total. That’s an average of two pounds per week. It’s time to put some goals in place.

Mini challenges keep me motivated so, last week, I joined a Halloween weight loss challenge here. I started the challenge on September 6 (56 days—or eight weeks-- until Halloween). I figure if I can keep losing two pounds, that’ll be 16 pounds gone during the challenge period. I am exactly one week in and exactly four pounds down! (Two pounds of that were weight I already lost that appeared back on the scale for some reason for a couple of days... grrrr).

As of today, I have a total of 90 pounds more to lose. If I can hold steady at a two pound per week loss, I can be my at goal weight BEFORE this time next year!

I want to see Onederland by Thanksgiving and, if I keep this up, I can definitely get there!

Hi Jarrod! I'm playing catch-up with my pounds =( I was on such a roll and then three pounds appeared back on out of nowhere this weekend. Noticed it when I weighed on Sunday night, and that was the only time I weighed all weekend, so I can't pinpoint where exactly the damage occured. The only thing I ate, all weekend long, was Linda Sue's Deep Dish Pizza (yep, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.... really love that stuff!) Maybe it was too much cheese? It IS mostly cheese, after all. I made a quadruple-batch of it, so I have deep dish pizza to last through the ages... figured I'd better freeze some and switch back to my shakes/meat menu. One pound is back off. *sigh* I must stay patient and keep trying to get this right.

How are YOU doing?

Hey Alisa..! Well...I can pinpoint it for u..! First off....don't weigh at night! Haha...also cheese (dairy) effects some people differently..so that cheese...if it was mozzarealla..looook at the sodium in the cheese it is a lot.! So I'm sure the 3 lbs was ur body holding onto the water.. sooo drink lots of water today to flush that outta you..by tomorrow u will be just fine.
Sounds like u did really well this weekend...so dont fret it.

I am doing good...I grilled an awesome streak last night..had salad..and didn't want to..but I did have a little bit of baked beans. I didn't weigh today...but that's ok...I wil wed morn... (no...not weighing at night.!! Haha)
Have a great day!!

Yeah, I guess the weighing at night didn't help matters! I'm sure hoping it's water weight, but thanks for reminding me to chug the water today. I'm *horrible* about drinking the right amount of fluids every day, and I know that alone can hinder the weight loss and all of my hard work.

Steak sounds really good... I haven't made that in a while. I made so much bison chili that it lasted nearly two weeks, for a family of three! Then the huge mass of low carb meatballs that I used in every dish imaginable. Now this huge batch of the deep dish pizza stuff.... I've been doing low-budget low carb lately, I guess... lots of ground meat and tomatoes =) Means I'll enjoy the steak more, when I get to it!

I added it to my brand spankin' new attempt at a blog/favorite recipes database. Low Carb Bison Chili | Alisa's Low Carb Diaries

I'm STILL sitting at 222. Guess sitting still is better than even more showing up, but I was on such a roll... I want it back! LOL

LOL! It's been a VERY busy fall so far!

My latest news: I'm at 215 right now, thanks to my doc starting me on metaformin, for my high leptin (a.k.a. "leptin resistance"). She suspects that I must also be insulin resistant, just that it's not showing up in the bloodwork because my sugar levels and insulin and stuff look great. We just about have my thyroid meds tweaked to optimal too.... no signs of the cancer returning, everything is looking great! The scale wasn't budging down for the longest time, just climbing up or staying the same no matter how good I've been... I've been the model Atkid, scout's honor, and NOTHING... until this medicine, and now it's FINALLY budging again, so WOOT! I figure I'm obviously *something* or the medicine wouldn't be doing jack, y'know? I hope this is the start of me finally getting all of this weight off and keeping it off!

Alisa- I am so glad you are losing again, I swear I think the Metformin is what helped me, obviously I am very insulin resistant even with losing all this weight by my 19 pound gain over the wedding that came off well I was 221 now down to 203 in less than 2 weeks, carbs blow me up like crazy, I wish I could take more Metformin again I think that is what really helped!!!! I am glad you joined our challenge, I do think if helps to stay accountable, I need that. I have been avoiding 199 for over 2 months now, and it is me thinking oh I work out, I can eat this or that, and no I cant, I gotta shut my trap on the weekends and have that militant dieting as Tony calls it, LOL SO that is what I am going to do for the next 3 weeks and that scale better move!!!!
