Third times a charm!!! Keeping it real!!

Hello everyone. My name is Melanie. This is my 3rd time on Atkins. I did Atkins back in 2002, lost 60 lbs. Then Thanksgiving came around and I went off of it. Gained back all of the weight and then some. I got married in Sept. 2005, was a little skinnier than I am now. I was probably about 230 then. Weight creeped its way to 250 something. Got pregnant with my beautiful daughter in 2007, gained 20 lbs. I delivered at 273. Lost it once I had my daughter and am now currently at 262.5.

I am not going to make any open ended promises. I am going to keep it real. I will be here everyday and would like some support along this journey.

This morning my hubby and I started this together.

So far so good!!!

Welcome back Melanie!

You are in the right place for support. I wish you and your hubby the best of luck. I'm sure that you can keep each other motivated. Check out the induction food porn thread if you haven't already. It has really helped me through my first 14 days of induction. I'm trying to stay in the induction phase through March, so I need some variety in my life!:D

So far so good. Pushing along on induction!!! I peed on a keto stich this morning and I am slightly in ketosis. I have lost 4 lbs!!! Which is great!!! Hubby hasn't weighed himself yet, atleast last time I asked he hadn't. He says he feels better though.

Every once in awhile I get a craving for something sweet and wonder if I shouldn't get some l-glutamine to help me through these cravings. I will see how things over the next couple days and go from there.

hotchick818 03-04-2009 06:02 PM

Happy,

4 lbs is great! Keep it up:kicking:

Have you tried the mock danish recipe? This has been helping me with my cravings for sweets. It's very easy to make and it tastes really good...almost reminds me of cheesecake a bit.

2 oz. of cream cheese
1 egg
2 packets of splenda
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
pinch of cinnamon

Just put the cream cheese in a microwaveable bowl for 30 seconds on high power to soften it a bit. Then mix/beat all of the ingredients like you would beat eggs. Pop it into the microwave for 45 seconds on high, then rotate the bowl and zap it for another 45 seconds. Let it cool off a bit and sprinkle a tad bit of cinnamon on top. I've also melted a bit of butter and cinnamon together to pour on top. This is so tasty!

Happy2be 03-04-2009 08:51 PM

Thank you!!! I will have to try that. Sounds very good.

I am in ketosis!!! WOO HOO. We went out to eat for my brother in laws bday tonight. DH and I had a ceasar chicken salad minus the croutons, and we shared an appetizer of hot wings. Went back to the inlaws for a bit and of course they had cake and ice cream. I knew they would and I wasn't even tempted or wishing I could eat some. I'm so proud of myself and how fast my cravings are going away!!!

Happy2be 03-05-2009 09:36 AM

Today is a good day. I checked on the keto stix and I am still in ketosis. A nice dark pink color. Not purple yet. I weighed myself and I was up a lb. I am not sure why, maybe there were some hidden sugars in the dressings or something, or maybe I am just retaining water. Either way I am going to try very hard not to weigh myself until Monday!!! Operative word is try!!!! I know I am sticking to the plan and I don't want to get discouraged when I fluctuate during the week. So here it goes!!!

Happy2be 03-06-2009 08:24 AM

Well it didn't work not to weigh myself today. I just had to see where I was today. The ketostix are a dark purple!!! I was down 2 lbs since yesterday!!! WOO HOO!!! Makes me feel good!!

Just wanted to stop in, I need to get this day started. I think I'm heading to the mall to walk around a bit!!!

Hello, I am doing good on Atkins. I am in ketosis and most of the time I have to make myself eat. I just haven't been hungry. I have a bit of a cold, a runny nose and congested. I also am feeling a little sluggish and achy. Not sure if its Atkins related or not.

This morning DH and I had scrambled eggs and bacon. So yummy!!! Funny that a diet pepsi is tasting like a treat now. I had some this morning and it tasted so good. Like such a treat. I have been trying to drink a lot of water.

Well have a good day.

Hi Melanie,

Great job so far! I know it helps a LOT to have DH doing it together.
Dh and I are doing a mini induction to get back on track, way easier since i don't have to watch him eat snacks I love.

KUTGW!

Thank you all for the encouragement!!! I feel like crap today. It has to be the "Atkins flu"!!! I haven't wanted to eat anything but have been drinking water and I ate 2 pieces of cheese.

I made the cream cheese muffins today and haven't even wanted one of those yet!!!

So nice that hubby is doing this with you. We are all here for support, we all fall at some time. I seem to be at a stall or not really moving, gain a few then lose the few and back and forth.

What have you been eating? And are you exersizing?

Good luck to you and your Hubby....it is easier when you have someone to work
with on eating and working out..... I cook for my kids ( 2 )...and still make the
rice or pasta or potatoes for them...I find now...I DONT need them...!

Have your goals...and reach for them....( sure if you dont wanna make promises
that is fine..) but....set it and go for it.... it can be done.!!

We are all here for you !!!!!

You are definitely in this thing and in the right frame of mind. Veggies & more water sound like a good plan.

Way to go!

Happy2be 01-14-2012 01:33 PM

Thank you Maggie!!!

252!! WOO WOO!!! 9 lbs down!!!

Hey guess what, More water is the key. I have had 80oz today so far!!! 40 more to go.

B: 2 scrambled eggs
4 sausages
L: ham
D: Meatballs in tomato sauce
Celery green peppers and hopefully a salad. (going to my parents for a get together)

80 oz of water so far!!!

Hubby is doing this with me and he has lost 13 lbs!!! He came down from getting dressed this morning and he had a shirt on that he hasn't had on in forever and he looked so sexy. I got teary eyed and so happy that we are doing this together!!! Surprisingly it has even helped our relationship because we are a team again and have something to do together!!! Its a Christmas miracle!!!

Happy2be 01-15-2012 08:50 PM

Ugh, wanted to throw my scale out the window this morning. I was so sure that I was going to lose atleast a couple of pounds!!! I did so well making sure I was eating more veggies and got more water. I need to quit beating myself up. It hasn't even been whole 2 weeks yet. This past week was a little bit disapointing because the weight loss was a little slow, but I am in ketosis. So its got to be coming off soon. TOM showed up this morning so that might have something to do with it.

I did the Leslie Sansone 4 mile today. It was good. Hard in parts, but a good workout.

B: 2 scrambled eggs
4 sausages
L: Ham and 5 celery sticks
D: Chicken
salad
8 celery sticks
80 oz water

Went to my cousins bday party tonight and really wanted a piece of cake, but Hubby and I were good and didn't have any.

I didn't get enough at dinner though so I just had a jello and I'm drinking an Atkins shake. I don't want to go to bed starving.
