Thanks for posting that recipe -- I think I wrote it down before, but lost it. LOL

I'm going to make it sometime this week!

Happy Monday! (I know those 2 words don't normally go together...hehe).

Ok so by my calculations I am at 579 for my first DD. How does this look?

Atkins shake (160)
3 onion rings from kids lunch ( 90)
sugar free jello (10)
2 tbsp of redi whip (15)

Going to chug some water and then have some beef stew in stroganoff sauce.
1/2 cup of beef stew (203)
3 green pepper slices
1 tbsp of ranch dip

I don't feel terribly hungry. I am worried about the stroganoff sauce though.

Whoah!!! Did I miss something where you were thinking about JUDDD? What a nice surprise!!

Looks good to me! Of course, like any plan, sodium will always be the kicker so drink drink drink that water!

Can't wait to hear how it all turns out!

Why don't you introduce yourself on the JUDDD forum and you will get a lot of answers to your questions.

Good Luck!

I certainly enjoy this way of eating....

Hey Mel. Are you doing LC Juddd or regular (whatever goes) Juddd? I started regular JUDDD last Friday (as a DD) and am on an UD today. I haven't weighed yet since I figure going from LC to mod-carb/high-carb will cause a temporary gain at first.

Danielle~ I didn't really discuss it. I had been thinking about it and reading a little bit. The flexibility of being able to eat anything in your calorie range was interesting. I did good on induction for a week and half and then Sunday had ham at a get together. Without even thinking about it and that it was honey glazed. The sugar threw me right out of ketosis. Monday A.M I went to the refridgerator and nothing sounded good. I decided to make it an UD and go from there. I figured if I can't get the hang of it and counting calories after two weeks I will go back to atkins but really wanted to try this. So here I am.. My UD # is 2078 and my DD is 520 at 25%.

Thanks Seabreeze I will.

Amber (bejewelme) Thanks. I really wanted to give it a try. Just to see. I am not one for counting calories.... but will see.

Amber (Asmallerme) I am doing regular JUDDD.

Jayce Thanks. I am sure going to give it a good shot.

I believe the standard recco from the BUDDDs is to stick to 20% on the calculator regardless of exercise. I find that to work for me too..just an FYI for future use.

I didn't think I would EVER be able to hang with calorie counting.. turns out I'm actually pretty good at it and DD's, I LOVE those more than UD's go figure. I don't ever want to follow another plan, this has been such a huge help when having to cook for others..not to mention actually cutting our grocery bill drastically.

For me there really wasn't a trade off as far as losses were concerned like other's who've lost consistently with LC'ing and switch to JUDDD..I lost so slowly on LC or not at all...and on JUDDD it's slow too... figured I might as truly enjoy the ride while I'm at it and be able to live amicably with the family

Good luck!

Thanks girls.
Danielle. So if I put the calc at 20% it says 416 for DD. and 2078 for UD.
I don't know if I can do 416 on a DD.

I wouldn't sweat it the first few weeks. My DD calories were less than 500 starting out and now they're at like 426... I did 500 flat for the first 2 weeks until I got going... nowadays I am lucky to crack 300 on a DD cause I'm just not hungry. Do what you can until you feel comfortable. The biggest thing I have learned is hunger is not an emergency. Learning between head hunger and real hunger has been the best gift to myself. Think about trying this for at least a month before you decide, I think you'll be surprised.

Thanks for the guidance Danielle. I appreciate it so much. I'm sure I will be coming to you often for help along the way. If you say a month... A month it is. I just have to be careful as to not derail dh. He is still sticking with low carb and I don't want to derail him with my choices. It's kind of an obstacle but one I am willing to overcome.

I wish you best with JUDDD Melanie! It can be tricky when 2 people are doing 2 different plans. For me, when there is a certain type of food in the house I loose control and eat what I shouldn't. Can someone say "lack of self-control?" Carbs are not my friend and I have to get that through my thick brain. Well the good kind of carbs are and the ones I like to pick are not the good kind. Anyhow, giving it one month sounds like a solid plan and you are never locked into just one way of losing the weight. I have throw around the idea of trying it but haven't yet, who knows, never say never.

Have a nice day!

Thank you. I am going to give it a good shot. Until I get to losing and DH sees that it can be done I don't think he will change. I have to keep other foods in the house for the kids and he has been able to resist so I think it will just be the same. I am going to try and eat the same thing that I make him for dinner and just eat smaller portions probably. Thats the plan so far atleast. So far I am liking it.

So far so good this morning. Fingers are a little puffy today so need to chug a lug until my eyes are floating. Just drank a cup of coffee with 2 tbsp half and half and 2 tbsp sugar free caramel syrup and tsp of splenda.
Only thing that had calories was the half and half so 35 cals in on my 2nd DD. I plan on drinking water for most of the day. I'm not hungry yet. I ate late last night not because I wanted to but because my parents came over and for some reason I didn't feel like eating while they were here and then by the time they left it was time to put the kids to bed and then after that I ate. I contemplated not eating at all last night because have you ever just went so long that the hunger goes away. Thats how I felt last night. But if I hadn't ate I would have just been at 1029 for my first real UD. Did I do the right thing by eating late or what? Is there a cut off that you shouldn't eat past??

You need to try to eat as close to your UD calories as possible. So I'd aim for 1800-2000 per UD. If you find that you aren't close, eat something high in calorie, like a T of Pnut butter or a coffee w/ heavy cream. But don't go too low on the UD. The biggest reason that JUDDD works is because of the big swing between UD and DD calories. You want to keep your body beliving it isn't starving and that you are eating to maintain. It will release fat easier that way. So eating late at night was the right thing. Had you not eaten, your body may have slowed down the metabolism since 1000 is pretty close to DD levels.

As for calories, at first 500 is fine for DDs. JUDDD recommends the 2-week induction period to be 500 calorie DDs to get your body used to it. Then the Sirt will be activated and your hunger should decrease.

Hi Melanie!

I thought I'd pop over and check out your WL journal. Haven't read much of it, but wanted to stop in and offer moral support for JUDDD

My DH is still on LowCarb, I'm lucky that he just eats what he wants and doesn't pay much mind to what's on my plate. Hmm, perhaps eating in front of the computer instead of proper meals has something to do with that, lol We've always been very different though, I was a vegetarian and he was meat potatos only, when we got married 25 years ago, so food has never been our common ground.

I hope the best for you on your JUDDD journey For me, finding very low calorie DD food was a life saver. Here is my list of low calorie dd staples that I graze from:

Scandinavian Bran Crispbread - I usually spread a very thin layer of Walden Farms no calorie peanut butter spread (for flavor) on it, then a thicker layer of Walden Farms Marshmallow no calorie spread (12 calories)
Boiled Egg White (17 calories)
Magic Pop Strawberry (15 calories)
Magic Pop Cinnamon (20 calories)
Gelatin gummies, I use loose gelatin from Netrition, 1T/.5 cup water, sweetened with stevia and flavorings and get two servings from it (20 calories)
Celery stick (12 calories) surprisingly filling when the tummy is growling
Egg White microwave muffin, my own variation of a Linda's Low Carb recipe, add chocolate powder, stevia and gluc powder for extra bulk (20 cal)
Coffee with fat free half and half (10 calories)
Tea, cold and hot sweetened with stevia (0 calories)
Coke sweetened with Splenda (0 calories)
Bone Soup, made in the crock pot (30cal/cup?)

I currently eat every hour, (referred to as mini meals, or Barbie meals) this helps me not feel like I'm fasting and I only have to take it one hour at a time.

If you don't have a perfect DD, just continue with rotations and try to figure out what caused the slip so you can counter next time. With JUDDD, tomorrow really is another day! I love going to bed at the end of a successful DD, knowing that the next day I've 'earned' the right to pig out on candy, anything my heart desires (within calorie limits) and still lose weight!

I've been JUDDDing since August 2012, have lost 15 pounds and gone under my high school weight just to see how low I can go. I'm post menopausal and a very small size person so my calorie limits are much lower than most JUDDDers, except those who have metabolic issues. I've been trying to lose weight for almost 40 years, this is the first diet that has really worked for me - I that it works as well for you too!

Yesterday's DD ended up being good.

Coffee with 2tbsp half and half (35)
Fiber one bar. (110)
Atkins shake (160)
3oz sirloin steak (283)
106 oz water
588 total

I really didn't want to have the shake but was worried on the way to the gym if I didn't have something that I would get sick. So there you have it. Scale was 211 this morning.

Your menu looks good. Yea I always think that too before going to the gym... needing something on my tummy. oh and I like that Scandanavian Bread crisp. I buy them from Whole foods. Very low in carbs and cals.
