Weigh-In
Highest Weight: 264 (12/07) Lowest Weight: 228 (5/08) Start Weight: 248 (7/9/09) Current Weight: 235(8/6/09) This week's loss: -2 Current Loss since restart: -13 Total Loss: -29 First Goal = 240 (8lbs) -- made goal (7/30/09) Next Goal = 230 (10lbs) -- 5 lbs til goal ************************************************** Thanks Monet and Jaimie !! I wish I could manage the why's and how's set before me. I eventually have to look at this as a part of our lives. Just as I have times alotted for work, practices and worship ... I must make time to prepare. And then someone infiltrate some exercize into the schedule. For now, I can only take the Wii and that's usually some good family time. I have a lot on my plate, and I am praying for a peace in my heart and for God to guide me with my schedule and to show me what items can be "trimmed" from it. I know HE can and that we can do ALL things through HIM who gives us strength !! I actually have an extra fridge w/freezer in the basement that one day I hope to utilize more. Right now it only gets used if we are having a big holiday dinner here and I prepare more stuff than the fridge upstairs will hold. Kroger has the Bryers Carb Smart on sale this week for $2.47 .... that is an incredible deal. Around here you can only get it there and at Walmart and it is always around $4. So, we decided to buy up a couple of extras. We don't really have the money, but in the long run we will save money. Guess what ?? They ran out ! DH will go back before the sale goes off to see if they have restocked. We've got a few expenses coming up that weren't budgeted and I covet your prayers. We have to purchase Awana leadership shirts (the Church will pay 1/2). They actually will purchase them and then we owe them the difference. We will need to purchase Hannah's uniform soon too. Tonight we have to pay for pom-poms .... and the list goes on ! DH has been trying to give more to the Church and I've been trying to get Him to see that when we put God first ... it will ALL work out. Perhaps not on paper, but it will !! We saw that first hand when I lost my job. As hard as things were ... it may not have been LC friendly foods, etc. but our needs for food, etc. were met. Happy to report a 2lb loss for this week's weigh-in. Only 5 more til my 2nd goal. Then only 8 more goals to go !! I would LOVE to be in Onederland by the holidays.

Thank goodness it's finally Friday .... I like this job, but the pay isn't the greatest (it's better than nothing) and the hours are long .... it's not a miserable reason I live for Fridays, I'm just ready to not be at work ... does that make sense ?
The HS has a scrimmage game tonight, so hopefully the nephew will get to play at least 1/2 the time. It's sooooo hot ... too hot to think about playing football !! Not positive we are going, but we shall see. DD has a cheer camp in tomorrow ... it is most of the day and the HS cheerleaders do the camp. We've planned on this all year (as she loved it last year). Then she gets invite to a b-day part that starts about 30 mins after cheer camp is over. Hello ........... isn't it short notice to send home invites on Thursday for a party on Saturday ?? I told her we weren't going and you'd have thought I took away her prized position. This kid had a melt down !! Ugh .. I felt horrible ... maybe I was wrong .... Ate good yesterday and "plan" to today .... got to go finish the coffee, etc. I had leftover chicken brocc. casserole for lunch yesterday and pork chops and green beans for dinner ... and my small bowl of ice cream. Today, I'll have leftover pork chops ... there is no plan for dinner as we may go to the game ... you know what usually happens when I don't have a plan. |

Man, I am tired !! Back up and at it again this morning. Went to the football scrimmage game last night. It was much too hot. My clothes and hair were soaking wet. Ran into some friends and we got to see the nephew make a few plays. All in all it was good night.
Speaking of clothes .. I was able to put on a pair of my old capri's ... I couldn't wear them for a long time after I gained some of my weight back. They were a little snug when I first put them on, but were feeling baggy shortly after. It was nice feeling. Now if I can get back to where I was, I have a nice pair of jeans I'd love to get back in. After that, I'll need more clothes ... but can't afford them nor do I want to ask to buy them until I hit a good goal. I figure when they start falling off it will be time to ask. I don't think that will happen for a couple of months though. Getting ready to take DD to cheer champ at the high school. Then planning this week's foods. I thnk DH is making a Kroger run shortly. I need to work on adding a few recipes to my little notebook. I just have a pile of LC recipes and some are on index cards in a recipe file. But I bought this Little Big notebook to put them in. It is a small spiral bound book that can lie on the counter. I haven't made up my mind completely though. I really like the index cards. Guess I should decide .... Hi Sweet Candy,
Know that I am keeping you and yours in my prayers. It is difficult to figure out how things will work, but trust that He knows and will guide you. Wow, lots of cheering! I have to say, as busy as my kids are, they fully enjoy the quiet days of summer vacation. Sure, they love our trip to Maine and I am sure would love if we could afford to go on one more trip...but with summer reading and the extra work DD has to do for HS...they are happy to have down time. DS1 had an opportunity to make an Elite-Club All-Star baseball team for the summer. We sat with him and explained the time, travel and money commitment...and we all decided that it was too much for our family. He opted to play on the town's All-Star team and the regular Summer League team. It keeps him playing baseball 5 evenings a week, but it's local. DS2 plays on the regular town Summer League team and he has 2 evenings a week. It can add up to 6 evenings at the fields, but it's close, fun and very affordable. I guess I am writing all of this as a bit of "food for thought" so to speak. Your DD is very young to have such a big full schedule. Is there anyway to lessen her time commitment? I don't have any football/cheering experience, so I am not sure how it works...I just know, that around here, football is 3 hours each night...Mon---Thursday and then games on the weekends...that's a HUGE amount of time. Does she thrive on all the extra activity? Is her school workload going to increase? Is she cranky when it's time to leave for her cheering? Honestly, I am just rambling...please don't think I am criticizing...just wondering. Have a wonderful, wonderful Saturday, and congrats on meal planning! If I have a chance later, I will post the recipes for the 2 LC meals I made and froze. Hugs

Jaime, I don't think you are criticizing at all. I don't think you have said anything else that we've not considered. I do think it is way tooo much.
They practice 1.5 hours 3 nights a week and then we will have Awana on Wed. night and Church on Sunday nights. That only leaves Fridays. The games are on Thursday nights and Saturdays. Her school work has increased a bit, with her picked up the gifted classes. I would prefer that she didn't cheer ... but she doesn't have the coordination or ability to do much else and it is the only thing she's asked to do. I know when she reaches the age where you have to try out ... we are done. She isn't cranky until bedtime, but it has really become annoying and I've tried to deal with it in a good way .... as I can't blame her for being that way. But it is hard .. when I am cranky too ! She doesn't really thrive on the extra activity. She isn't really a "good" cheerleader, but she takes pride in it and does her best. It is truly something we've been torn about. It is a constant struggle that we are trying to manage. Hopefully it will all work out. She DREADS summer vacation because she has to stay at her Grandparent's in AL during the week. We see her once a week and on the weekends ... it is very difficult. As much as she loves the grandparents, she is so excited to come back home. She could barely contain herself the last week before school started. She loves school too ! I probably have rambled, but I do that quite often. |

Monet, sadly I've not taken my camera to practice yet. I hope to take it this afternoon for a few pics at the expo from the cheer camp. The lighting in the gym is horrid, so I don't know how well they will turn out. However, when she gets that uniform and gets all dolled up ... she'll be asking me to take pics and I sure will share ! I have a bunch on FB from last year.
On the recipes .... I like the card file idea where they are seperated by categories .... but that is a lot of work. That is why I considered the small notebook. I figure I will only put the ones I know I'll use in there. Still haven't fully decided. DH has already been to Kroger, so he has two more stores to get to. I guess he's planning this week's meals. I've been browsing the main lobby and spending way too much time here this morning ... but I think I need it. |

Oh, I understand a bit more now...I understand why you would want her to enjoy this cheering now...but are you sure that she won't be able to continue? I teach dance, and some kids have a slow start, but really improve with age!!
Maybe over the school year she will find an activity that she enjoys as much, that won't be such a large time suck! I feel your pain, sista! Thanks for understanding that I was only sharing thoughts and ideas, not questioning your parenting! Love ya lots ![]() Glad to hear DH is involved with the shopping and planning, he is a good guy! Monet, I took the camera. I snapped one picture and when it came up on the screen it was dark. I tried to switch to anther setting and the battery died ... I can't remember when I change them anymore.
Jaimie, thanks ! I never thought you were questioning my parenting ... although I sometimes wonder if someone should. I do think she is doing too much, but we are a work in progress. I do know that if her Dad has to drive to another location for work all of schedules will be modified. For now she gets picked up from school and is home by 3:30. She has a snack and does her homework before I ever get home from work. Usually dinner is ready when I get home so she can eat and then we go to practice. Then we come in and I eat dinner while she is in the shower. But, sometimes the perfect schedule never works. If DH's job location changes with the merger, then he would not be able to get her when school was over. She would be in after-school care and it would be probably 5 or later before we could get her. I don't think I could let her do that unless she did her homework there. There are a lot of parents that still have to go home a do homework, etc. prior to bedtime. I bet the kids aren't in bed til 11. We try for 9 or 9:30 at the latest. I've often thought she'd get better at the tumbling, but I had one of the coaches tell me her legs were so long it was harder for her to get the flips and stuff. She finally learned a cartwheel/roundoff thing. I think it is a cartwheel, but she says a round off. All I know is that she can land on her feet now and for that I am proud. I know she was tired yesterday, but she was not "into" their routines they did for the Expo yesterday. They did 2 cheers and 1/2 a dance. But she talked all the way home about how much fun she had ..... Twink !! I am so glad to see you. I was reading the main lobby yesterday and I learned something VERY interesting. They were talking about the carb count in Crystal Light, etc. They were saying that because the label on something says zero carbs, it may not be zero. But, you don't have to wonder you can add it up yourself. You can also tell by certain ingredients. This wouldn't just apply to Crystal Light but to any label. LindaSue explained it to me: Quote:

Morning Candy girl..
![]() Cartwheel.. you land on one foot at a time.. round-off.. you land on both feet at the same time.. ![]() wow on the crystal light.. I am trying my very best to just drink water.. I have had a 2 liter of sprite zero in my kitchen since I started this back up.. and just drank the rest ( and not all of it) night before last.. and last night while talking on the phone with my friend Beth.. she was having a glass of tea.. I said.. that sounds good.. so I fixed a glass and didn't drink the whole thing... BUT I already had my 4 liters in for the day.. of water.. ![]() I figure.. my water is free and tasty.. so why not drink it.. but it is nice to have flavor every now and again.. that's for sure !! |

... so, she can now do a cartwheel !!We had a busy day yesterday, but a slight break in the middle of the day. Good service at Church and a very deep service last night. We have started The Truth Project (Focus on the Family) and I feel like such a dummy. It is actually video of a "theology" class at a seminary (it may change later, but that was the first one). The break up in small groups and discuss. The devil was attacking, as the video failed and Plan B had to be implemented. - back up projector and CD player. It put us behind on schedule so we only briefly met the people in our groups, and had prayer. I know NO ONE in this group of 8. I was amazed though, we had at least 200 people show up (on a Sunday night in a Baptist Church) ! I had a crockpot roast and salad for lunch yesterday. I'll refrain from telling you what I had for dinner (I'm internally dealing with that one). Today is leftover roast and green beans for lunch. I packed a small amount of LC ketchup. Today DH has to take DD to the dentist. Then I'll take her to cheer practice. Here's to a great week !! Praying that God will transform my life physically and not just spiritually ! |

I ended yesterday MUCH better than Sunday. Everything went well with foods yesterday. The scales were back in sync this morning, which is what it was the day before I ate what I shouldn't have. I suppose that is why I don't beat myself up. There is just something psychological going on with me ....
The scales are my whole focus. They determine my emotional status a lot of times ! That is a transformation I pray for. One that will not be chained to a scale and a number but one that will be based on knowing I am eating properly and feeling smaller, looking smaller ... and actually getting new clothes one day. Yesterday was so busy (much busier than normal) as DH too DD to the dentist. This left homework having to be done AFTER cheer practice/uniform fitting. It was 9pm when we got everything done. She was asleep by 10, but that is just way too late in my opinion. I am sure it will be hard to wake her this morning. I cannot imagine trying to do that to my child on a regular basis. IF she didn't have the extra 2 hours in the afternoon to do homework, eat a snack, etc ... no way would be doing what we do. I thank God for allowing our schedule to work thus far. IF DH's job location changes (still no more news) and he is unable to get her at the normal time, life will change for us. BUT we will worry about that when/if it happens. Had some ham/cheese rollups and drinking coffee. Packed a big pork rib, green beans and 3 strawberries for lunch. Dinner is up in the air ... but I think DH will decide around his 10AM lunch and then thaw something out. He is leaning towards cube steak. We shall see. Monet, you mention something in your journal about things tasting different. I remember 2 years ago when I was in "the zone" and added strawberries to my menus. I remember adding splenda to them after slicing them. I sliced these last night and ate one slice .. oh my they were so sweet tasting. They came straight from the Atl Farmer's Market, so maybe it was just these strawberries, but I was proud that I didn't need to add sweetener !! Oops, time has slipped away yet again ... better run for now. |

Whew !! We are all exhausted ....
Last night was cube steak and green beans. This morning I am eating 2 scrambled eggs. WHY in the world do 2 scrambled eggs have twice the carbs of 2 boiled eggs ? I just don't get it. Lunch today is a salad with ham/cheese. I have 3 more strawberries cut up for a snack. Now, I am beginning to wonder if I should have had them yesterday as I was back up a pound. We'll see how they do today and what happens in the morning. Surely, I can have a couple of strawberries. But, they will be gone today ... oh well. DH bought them for DD and she hasn't been able to eat them all. I just don't want them to ruin, so I was helping her out. We have an Awana leader meeting tonight ... hopefully it will be short & sweet and we can all get to bed on time ... I might be in bed at 6pm on Friday night ... it will be the only sleeping time I'll have this week. Conference on Saturday - but at least DD and DH can sleep in (like we ever do ... we can't we've tried). |

Weigh-In
Highest Weight: 264 (12/07) Lowest Weight: 228 (5/08) Start Weight: 248 (7/9/09) Current Weight: 234(8/6/09) This week's loss: -1 Current Loss since restart: -14 Total Loss: -30 First Goal = 240 (8lbs) -- made goal (7/30/09) Next Goal = 230 (10lbs) -- 4 lbs til goal ************************************************* I am glad I can report a 1lb loss this morning, but wonder how much better it would be if I had made some different choices. A loss is a loss, and it is step in the right direction. I know part of this issue is plumbing, as I did not have flax muffins this week. Hopefully I can make some Friday night. I wonder about the strawberries ... I should probably research. But, then again there are none left. I am having trouble with water intake and I have to work on this. I'll probably never drink as much as I should, but ANY would be better than none. I am constantly either sipping on coffee (mornings) or diet drinks (during the day). It's a caffiene thing I suppose. Hopefully, as the pounds drop and the energy decreases I can wean myself off or at least add the water into the day. I am searching for a add to the bottle drink mix that truly has no carbs or at least won't cause a stall. I decided against Crystal Light. Last time I had some Walmart brand stuff and I loved it. We didn't make a Walmart run this week. However, I tried a sample of Hawaiin Punch Lemon Berry ... and I think it was the best thing I'd ever tasted. It was an individual pack so nutritional values were on the box (which I didn't have). It did say sugar-free, so when a lady at work offered I took one. I've always said I am blessed to have my DH to this with me. I am so proud of him. He has lost 20lbs and is at 196, so he just has a few more lbs to lose. He does LC during the week and usually "WHATEVER" on the weekends. The "whatever" is where I struggle ... I have to be strong and realize that I am not in Onederland and I will never get there at this rate. I think a cheat meal at the chinese rest or mexican is OK for me .. as I still do LC friendly, but just a higher count than normal. It is hamburgers and fries and such or a piece of cake, etc. NO sugar regardless of my higher carb meal choices sometimes - must be a rule for me. I had a lady in another dept. at work bring me a plate of choc.chip cookies over to my desk ... she offered for me to try them. Telling me she made them SF just for me ... all splenda, etc. Well, I didn't want to hurt her feelings, and if I had been uneducated on LC I would have said OK ... but my first question was "don't they have flour" ? She said yes, and I when I told her I couldn't have flour ... she apologized and said she never thought about that. She is a diabetic and focuses solely on sugar free ... we chat about foods, etc. at lunch quite a bit. I guess I felt comfortable enough to ask about the flour. I told her I had to have almond flour or a LC baking mix. It was a sweet thought for her to offer, and I am proud I didn't taste them. Why do diabetics only count real sugars ? Why do they not count the starches so much ? |

Mornin' Candy,
Your lady from work SHOULD be counting the carbs. We have quite a bit of diabetes in our family, and the new way of thinking IS counting the carbs. It's that and the combination of carbs and fat. Maybe you can help her learn! Think of how cool it would be to positively influence those around you!! Sounds like you have had one busy week!! Bet you'll be glad when the weekend rolls around! Congrats on your pound...every loss adds up ![]() Hugs |

Good morning Candy Girl..
![]() yeah.. alot of diabetics.. only count the sugar.. either they are not educated on it fully or they just choose to ignore the true.. .. my best friends hubby is diabetes.. and he will STILL eat M&M's... Cinn rolls.. what ever.. then his sugar goes high.. and he doesn't feel well.. ![]() I know its hard.. but if its life threatening.. I would think I would try a little better.. ya know.. ![]() good job on the cookies.. hehe.. and congrats on the pound Like Jaimie says. it all adds up..you have a great day!! |

Jaimie and Monet that's what I thought on the diabetics. My FIL is just like Monet's friends hubby. Jaimie, she is supposed to be going to an education class about it. The same one my FIL went to. They allow starches, etc. and you get "points" for so many carbs. They can still have many more a day than we do. So, some of the education classes have shocked me.
I am soooo soooo glad it is Friday. I was down another lb this morning. Don't ya love it when it doesn't happen til the day after weigh-in ? Oh well, it all counts like you said. I got an interesting proposition about a job yesterday ... I'm not a liberty to say a whole lot right now I don't think. BUT .... I'll say it is with the college that I applied for before I got this temp job. Those of you following may remember that I never got a phone call and I had some pretty good connections. I later found out that over 300 applied, and they quite possibly hired from within. Let's just say on this one ... THE BOSS of the department sent me a FB message. He wants me to interview with HIS BOSS, THE BIG BOSS ...... we are trying to coordinate a time so I don't lose time from work ... I covet your prayers. The most interesting part is that the BIG BOSS is DD's Sunday School teacher and goes to Church with us. They joined about the same time I did. Anywhoo, I "think" he would be the decision maker. DH and I had decided NOT to search for a job while working, etc. it was just too much on me. PLUS I don't get time off and I get a 30 min. lunch, so when would I interview ?? We decided once this assignment was over ... then we'd start looking. So, this is such a Divine intervention !! I am praying and believing for good things !! |

I just don't even feel like posting here this morning, but I am making myself do it. There was something that happened to DD last night, and I am not dealing with it very well. I pray that she will be "mentally" and "emotionally" resilient (I can't spell) to this "event" as she was to illness, etc. I can't say much more and she is physically OK, but I fear the scars will be there forever. It is probably best I don't even comment on this publically at all. I know I won't mention it on FB, etc because of the nature of this "event" ... I covet your prayers and perhaps one day I can share.
