while you are so motivated to do it write fix your atkins emergency kit.
write yourself a love letter about why you deserve to be smaller and healthier eating Atkins low carb and you can get all sentamental amd mushy too like you want to see your grandkids get married ( yep I know you don't got any yet and nobody is even married yet to start making you some but think long term too) and get the old pics out of you big and goal weight and put them in there too. then put paper and pen too cause you never know when some mean toxic high carb food is going to demand you eat it and that paper and pen are your first line of defense against it. now put some legal snacks and a water bottle in there too. then in case you get stuck in the doctors waiting room you got food should you need it and fluids too. now when that toxic high carb attack comes you are ready. first you pull out your love letter and reread it every word and if that don't get your anti high carb txic foods shells to full power and repell it then you whip out your pen and paper and you write a serious love leteer to yourself about why you deserve to eat that food more then you deserve all the wonderful things you deserved in letter number one. drink your water bottle while you write this one. oh and I forgot you better put a box of klenex in there too for this occasion. I have yet to see anybody who has an atkins emergency kit say they actually finished the second letter writing assignment, but should that letter get finished then you need to call somebody and/or come post and let folk talk you down from that ledge as that is a lot better then having to call out the hazmat team to clean up the toxic high carb spill at your location. hang in there and whoo hoo on dropping those pounds already!

Maybe just maybe you have been right...and I mean it even on the pain meds.. I know I fought you every freakin step of the way before but you way is the right way. Ouch that was hard...lol so yesterday I was talking to MomtoE and she is telling me how you are helping her. Infact she said you were her biggest cheerleader..well okay fine..can I be the pom pom girl..ha. I picked her brain to see what YOU were telling her..so I would know without having to admit the above.. She tells me about the letter and the sec letter and I say..OMG that 2big is hardcore and she KNOWS how to tug at that emotional stuff...and it would so work.. She then tells me if that second letter makes you think you can go ahead and eat it..then to send it to you cause it is something woo hoo... Darn you 2big..why did you have to be so freaking smart and why is it hard to argue with all this information. so....2big I would feel thankful for your help and support getting my body and health back through a healthier LC plan and maybe learning to modify it to go along with my medical needs. What ya think? OH and I am the pom pom girl..lol

yep that letter works great cause it makes you be accountable BEFORE you put the food in your mouth. It is much easier to say I will restart tomorow while munching down that toxic food then it is to write down why you deserve to eat it more then you deserve to see little Emily get married and having kids. Being accountable makes any eating plan work.
LOL on the pompom girl. you can be the cheer leader. and I want to be Nick Saban before last nights game telling everybody how to execute the plan to make them be the best they can be. and of course I expect y'all to execute better then those Bama fellows did following the plan. ![]() Oh you will get a laugh out of this. Mother was rooting for BAMA but since both teams were wearing BAMA colors she just cheered all the plays thinking the BAMA boys were doing so well! made for an enjoyable game for her. actually low carb Atkins ( remeber there are a zillion choices you can make in OWL about what foods to include and exclude) should not need to be modified for your medical needs. So if you post them I'm sure we can fix you up. I gather you are having swallowing issues AND cooking locations. if you can checkout the induction forums for folk asking for soft foods for teeth issues you will see there are lots of easy swallowing Atkins dishes. And you know you can borrow recipes from other plans and adpat them like Vernswifevivkie's LDL plan just add somehealthy fat to her bean dishes and you got Atkins OWL dishes. Are you having friends cook for you or are you take out dining ordering? if so you can play the sympathy carb and call when the place isn't busy and say you are haing swallowing and food issues after your surgery and are on a special diet and can they take the sugar/sweetners, not allowed foods out of a dish for you. Mother had bad food allergies and one local resturant goes out of its way to accomadate her they fix her veggies and meat special and even clean off an area of the grill like they were closing for the night just to fix her food. Needless to say she eats there weekly to keep that relationship going but it is well owrth it when we are out and about to be able not to have to worry about getting home in time to cook her meals. SO are you OWL what rung? or are you just doing a backing into Atkins like Mrs Atkins recommneded and removed the processed high carb stuff from your diet? I low carbed Mother at the Atkins Maintnenance levles well for her I'd say it was actually premaintnenace and she is down 75 pounds since 2005. She still gets as part of her eating WOE one serving of icecream a day, fruits and veggies she like and a sandwhich with real bread for lunch but all the high carb sweets and junk food are gone. She is very happy eating her low carb pb cookies while others eat real cookies and even happier that her joints don't hurt as much any more. And her exercise plan started out very very slowly as we walked about 10 mi at less then 1MPH and now she does 4 miles a day and goes swimming too. She loved going out walking. So what are your limitations on eating other then swallowing issues and what are you doing as your exercise besided lifting your head to read posts? |

Amy, just had a chance to read your journal. Sounds like your on the right track, so is today your start day?
Your right when we have a ton of things going on, usually only some of those things are within our control to change, the way we eat is one of them but changing can be so difficult, it's one day at a time just like an alcoholic.....writing is great for the soul and the support here is always here. I was writing the other night and DH started reading over my back, I asked him not to and he asked how I could write for so many to read but I didn't want him to read it.....I couldn't answer...I don't know why but I feel that others here share the same struggle, they understand. DH has never had a weight problem, never he is slim, trim, and in shape he could never understand. I need to write this in my journal, right and stop taking up your space! LOL!! Much love to you Sister and we can do this, so lets.

I am back on plan (Let's Do Lunch) as of a week ago. I have managed to gain back everything I lost on Kimkins...or close to it anyway...but I am back on plan and determined to make healthier choices in 2009. It's good to see you feeling well enough to be posting again. ![]() |

Having a rough time staying on plan. I KNOW this is what I need to do and I am doing it..but it is painful ..lol. Sorry that sounded crazy but it is true. PAINFUL. I thought last night I should just wait till my kitchen is done..or I start my meds or I am off this or that med...Then I stopped and thought....where will you be when those things are done? So I stayed on plan ...and I will today. |

Me?...I just go on and off plan like a yo-yo ...but not in 2009! ATTACK OF 2BIG --> AMYB bad idea. Do not read about Vickie's LDL plan because it could very easily temp you off lower carb which is what you medically need right now!!! it uses complex carbs to slow metabolism of them but it is still a glucose based plan. Share and support each other but don't even think about eating like her which could easily happen should her pounds and inches move faster then yours.
After your appointment and your pour out your heart could you answer a few questions soi I know what your plan needs to be? what is your medically given carb limit? cal limit? minimum cal limit? do you have a medically based food avoidance list and if so what in it are you supposed to be avoiding? a mineral, a vit, sugar, etc.? medically based food inclusion list? ie certain high vit or mineral goals medicine based food avoidance list? same issues as above eating 5-6 small meals or 3 normal sized ones and a few snacks? craving issues other then emotional? medical exercise limits? physical exercise limits as in it just hurts to do something right now so you won't? Back to your regularly scheduled love feast hope all goes well with your appointment and that mass was just an aboration in life and not any other places located. |
