Cait's Reward
If you were to get to your goal weight, what would be the ultimate reward? My reward would be: to be lean and muscular....and stay that way...
Here's a bit of background on me: I am an avid exerciser and a hobby powerlifter with a medium frame and a lot of muscle. My daily activities include flow yoga, spin classes and more recently, jogging, following the " Couch to 5k" program. I suppose you could say I am classified as "fit, but fat". The bottom line is: I want to be fit, but not fat...and smaller than my current size 14. For the last two years, I have been on and off the LC WOE, but in April, I decided to cut mostly all processed starches and sugars out of my diet 90% of the time. Well, I was successfully maintaining a lighter weight and tighter physique using that methodology, then came my birthday. The fallout from my birthday was disasterous, sending me for what could be classified as a two month long binge. Needless to say, I have some work to do...... |

Hi, Cait!
By the way, I totally agree with Lei....doesn't look like you're eating enough to support your workouts. Do you track carbs? Keeping track of carbs, and then eating them strategically around your workout times will give you the best bang for the buck in the fat loss category. Taper with fibrous (green) carbs at all other times. Regardless, tracking your food (both cals and carbs) will be very telling and helpful in your journey. For fat loss, try shooting for 10 x your body weight (up to 12 x BW) in calories. Tracking is CRUCIAL. Think of it as your map to getting fit.

I'm back after a small holiday
*walks in...blow dust off the journal cover...sitting down*
Hey girls!!! Good Lord, I have been away in Kelowna, B.C. I was there for some RnR and a concert. It was a fabulous time! I got the rest I needed and I am ready to face the holiday season with gusto!! My nutrition on vacation was less than admirable, but I have been back on track for two days. WOOT! OKay, I only did one running workout last week, but attended all my usual yoga classes and abs classes before I went away. I am back to the running workouts, as of tomorrow. I will do them 3x per week and stay on top my nutrition. It feels good to be back! Thanks for stopping by girls*missed ya* Last edited by CaitSith; 12-07-2008 at 03:37 PM.. |

Thank you cdn_gal! I hope you all had Happy Holidays!
OMG! It has been snowing like crazy here! DH and I did not get to go to my parents house for Christmas as planned because we could not get our car out of the driveway. We were going to plan another day to exchange gifts and have dinner, then it snowed AGAIN! So, far, I have not seen the parents at all this holiday season and I do miss them...*sigh* Hopefully, I will get home to see them soon. As for my actual Christmas festivities, my niece took the bus over to my house for the day. Having anticipated a snow storm, I bought all the fixins for a Christmas dinner beforehand, just in case. The three of us had "the traditional turkey dinner" and we all enjoyed it. Over the last two weeks, I have eaten more cookies and chocolate and drank more egg nog that I should have...thats for sure. How much weight did I gain over the holidays? Five pounds. Yes, I have some remedial work to do. I started the day before yesterday. I did not have a drop of alcohol for New Years or any junk food for that matter too. So, onward we we go. I will restart my "Couch to 5K plan this week. I am going grocery shopping today to restock the house of "holiday free" foods. LOL Happy New Year everyone! |

Seriously, enough snow already..it makes me want to weep! argh...We were not prepared for this. I dont own a shovel, snow tires, waterproof boots or scrapers of any sort!!! I am going to try to find some this week at Revy. I just have not had a chance to look around with the holiday store closures. So, I am doing well in my WOE..no processed starches, no sugar, getting everything in line. I will weigh in next week on fri or sat morning. Gotta get this confounded holiday weight off!! I am going to jog and do some weight lifting today. I will continue to work toward a slimmer me for 2009!! I have been snacking on jerky, nuts, protein shakes and veggies! YUM! |

So I'm snowed in again...good thing we have exercise equipment at home! I will be doing a chest and tricep workout today at home. I am really stoked about the fact that I am weight lifting again. Last year, I did some powerlifting. I was getting in some MONSTER numbers...like in the hundreds. I have since lost A LOT of strength, coming off of that program, but I am ready to get back there again.
Today I have DOMS= delayed onset muscle soreness, in my forearms, believe it or not! I love being sore form lifting weights..its all coming back to me..my love of lifting, my challenge to continue jogging, my passion for PROTEIN! I feel I am finally coming out of the holiday haze! I am kicking things into high gear, people! WOOT! I will post my workout numbers later on today. |

okay, so I havent been around in three days...only doing fly by in the "slimfinity" challenge thread.
Here it is...I am trying desperately to stay on plan and be strong. It is not helping that I have SAD, hubby eats crap food, havent exercised consistently and I think I might need to get my thyroid checked. Talk about stress... I am going to give myself to the end of January. If I dont lose any bodyfat (not weight) by then, I am going to have things checked out. So: today I do my couch to 5k program. I am one day behind, if I am not mistaken. I stay on plan and carry on....*fingers crossed* |

WEIGH IN DAY, BABY!
POST CHRISTMAS WEIGHT: AN UGLY 190 LBS!!
NEW WEIGHT( a week later): 187lbs!! ![]() 'Been working my butt off all week. Yesterday, I couldnt get into the weightroom for a workout. It was way too BUSY (new years resolutioners). I went home from work, pulled out all my old fitness equipment and set up a "Fitness Nook" in a corner of the small one bdrm apartment I share with hubby, 2 cats and a dog!. I did a shoulder workout with following exercises: 3 sets , 10 reps per exercise. DB shoulder Press: 20lbs DB lateral raise: 8lbs DB reverse flyes: 8lbs Fitband reverse flyes: thick blue band Today: Lat (back) and bicep workout. I will post the numbers for that one later on. I actually have to go to the gym for this workout because I dont have weights that are heavy enough for my back/bi workout at home. Menu: all LC baby! Its posted in the "To Slimfinity and Beyond" challenge thread. I encourage all of you journalers who may be reading this to join a challenge this year. It is very motivational having a group of people to cheer you on in your effort. We all need a support system, that's why we are here, right?? Join a challenge TODAY! P.S. Fitness nook pictured below...tilt your head to right the right to see it properly! LOL Last edited by CaitSith; 01-12-2009 at 12:42 PM.. |
