Lucy--how much tyrosine are you taking? I can't wait to get that book. TOM arrived with a headache and cramps--oh joy. But the good news is there should be a good whoosh after it.

I have read a LOT of different dosage recommendations for it but essentially it sounds like it is different for everyone. I took about 2000 to 2500 mg each day so far all before 2:30 in the afternoon. I THINK 2 when I get up, 2 at about 11 and 2 about 3 will be good but not sure yet. It warns in the book that taking TOO much can cause high blood pressure and jittery feelings and your body's reactions are the best thing to go by. It says don't take them after 3 so as not to interfere with sleep. So far I have no jitters at all but one capsule at a time doesn't seem to be enough. Tomorrow I am going to try what I said above and see how it works. I did NOT want a nap again today at lunch or after work which is a miracle for me trust me.

For me I am particularly excited about the ADD part. I can definitely tell a difference in focusing and clarity of thinking.

Yeah...it's pretty much that amount everytime that I wash my hair, maybe a little less if I've washed it everyday, plus they fall out during the day and night, too. They're everywhere right now! (I think that my med is too low, again.) In the bed, on my jacket, on my shirt, on my apron, on DH's shoulder, on the cat! Seriously! I found one on the cat one time! THAT's a switch, eh?

Thanks Wendy! I really am very excited that I may have found my "get up and go" again!!! I am SO glad I got that book!!! Thanks SO much! You are right. I had almost resigned to the fact that I would always be like this. But it's NOT normal. I know that now!!! I am excited about Spring now! Does that make sense? I mean I was before but now that I am not so tired I am REALLY looking forward to doing things outside and stuff!

151.5 again this morning so it STUCK!!! A new low doesn't usually do that. WOOT! I am wondering if the l-tyrosine will help it move along. That is a benefit it says. I can't tell if it helps my appetite because I am never really very hungry usually anyway on LC especially this time.

I had to go "shopping" in my closet for some less baggy pants. I found a couple pair to get me through until I get to about 145 or so. Then I'll be able to wear a LOT of them! I am glad I kept some now from that lower weight! I have some jeans I can wear now that I kept that I LOVE, have a pair on today! Also looking forward to wearing some sundresses and things that will look better on me than they did last year.

Okay rambling... sorry!

Oh and with my hair as long as it is, you would not BELIEVE how much is found everywhere. Of course one strand seems like a lot because of the length but still..it is embarrassing sometimes. It is EVERYWHERE  oh and especially when I have a season where I shed more which is usually in the Fall when I am getting ready to get my thicker coat for the winter

Oh but I understand with your hair shorter that it shouldn't be like that and probably something needs adjusting. I forgot that it's not all about meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee LOL

TODAY'S WEIGHT

177.5 *faints*

I can't find any record of my lowest weight in the past several years, so I have to go w/ what I remember, and my memory says that 178 was my lowest. Which means...that I'm at a NEW lowest weight!

Weight up a bit but not too bad, just a pound. Not sure what did it. There are several things that could have, no deliberate cheats but some eating out foods that were questionable as to what it had in them. I am HOPING to get under 150 by next week. We'll see! Oh what a glorious day that will be

Just for my benefit, going to name the suspicious things that could have caused the gain.

1) wings at Zaxby's, not sure what is in the dressing, could be more sugar than I should have, also ate more wings than I normally do
2) stupid salad I didn't even like at Beef O' Brady's that also had questionable dressing
3) had fajitas with probably too much queso on them yesterday (along with other things may have added up to temp gain)
4) too much half and half yesterday also, more coffee than usual in the morning
5) Oh and also at the Barrel on Saturday had the skillet breakfast with bacon, cheese, tomatoes onions and egg. Again, if that had been the only "extra carb" thing I had this weekend probably would have been okay.

Breakfast, 2 hard boiled eggs with butter
One cup of coffee with heavy cream (about 2 T.)

Going to go "lighter" on the menu this week to see if I can get under that 150 number! I am going to go walking today after work if it's sunny. If not, going to drag a workout video out. Darn, meant to bring my shoes and change of clothes. Oh well. I'll just go by the house if I decide to go walking.

I was reading journal entries from fall '08 through spring '09 and guess what I discovered?

I actually WAS losing weight doing different things!!!

I was eating 70-120 low-glycemic carbs per day and 1300-1600 calories and losing weight!!! WHAT?!?

I think that the problem was that I didn't ever stick w/ it for more than a month, so I kept questioning whether I was losing water weight over and over or not. I suppose that's possible, but I really don't know for sure what the weight was, you know?

BUT the most interesting, yet confusing, information that I found was this:

One week, I didn't have a scale AND was eating sprouted bread, beer soup w/ rye bread croutons, potatoes and some carrots. I gained 4 lbs, BUT it's the only time that I mention feeling GOOD! I wasn't tired. I wasn't lethargic! I got things done!

In the weeks after that, I cut those simple carb items, and my weight started going back down, but my lethargy and extreme tiredness returned.

I don't know what to make of that! Normally, simple carbs make my blood sugar levels wonky and I fall asleep. Plus, my ND said to not eat them because of my hypoglycemia. I'm wondering...did increasing my carbs make my thyroid work better? Do I need to eat way over 100 carbs/day for my thyroid to convert properly? I haven't read anything saying that I should need THAT many carbs, but if it wasn't my thyroid that made me feel better, what was going on? I'm pretty sure that my blood sugar levels weren't better, so that can't be it. Any ideas?

Wendy I am sorry I can't help you. Hope someone else can! Last time I was on Atkins one of the reasons I stopped is because I was extremely tired a LOT. If I stayed below 10 carbs or so I felt great but over that I felt awful up to eating too many carbs to lose. I have no idea if it had anything to do with my thyroid or not. My count is low for nonstickpam's guide but not by hospital/my doctor's guidelines. I have a sneaking feeling it needs adjusted and have felt that way for a while. This time on LC it's a little different. At first I felt great but then the fatigue has started setting in in the last month or maybe a little more. I chalked it up to something else but now that the tyrosine is helping not sure there either! So I am as confused or more confused than you!

I called my doctor and asked him to send out a copy of my blood tests. I am not even sure what he ordered on thyroid if anything. Probably just TSH. Anyway, whatever he didn't order I think I am going to get done myself. That way maybe I can rule that out if nothing else as a fatigue cause.

Based upon my chiropractor's idea that maybe I had felt so well last March while eating sprouted bread, potatoes, beer soup, etc. because I was eating more frequently, thus keeping my blood sugar levels more level, I am trying to eat 5 times/day starting today.

Eating a Thai salad.

I used to do that Wendy and it did work well. It is supposed to keep your metabolism going and energy level up.

I am so excited today! 19.5 pounds down as of today! Was just looking at my goal and that I wanted to lose 25 pounds by July and it LOOKS like I am going to hit the 25 pound loss way before that!!! I really can't believe it my own self!!! You guys have helped SO much, don't think I could have done it without you.
