I miss you all. It's been so quiet here. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
I know, I miss you all too. I've finally been feeling well enough to do stuff at home and go out so that's why I've been missing. It should mellow out soon. Glad you got to rest.

I hope so! I told you that stuff is the debil himself!!! It always does that to me. At least you only had a shot and didn't have to take the pills.

I hope so! Yeah I have been resting a lot. For one thing I am enjoying my Bible study, the olympics and reading and listening to my CDs. Tomorrow I have to get some cleaning done though.

Oh oh, I forgot to mention that we made our own corned beef once out of beef brisket. It was awesome but it took weeks to brine and didn't have the pink color although I could do without the color--it was just weird.

Why do people think that we want food coloring in our food? If it's from a spice, fine, but chemical crud? Do they really think that we'll eat beef when it's brown but that our corned beef needs to be red?

Wendy really? You haven't seen ANY? DH doesn't like them a lot but we still watch them some. I love the ice dancing.

Still doing good on eating. Getting ready to add some weight training here. I have several pairs of dumbbells of different weights. I decided at least I could do various things with them. I noticed my arms look flabbier Summer is coming ya know! 152.5 this morning so guess I have to do something to get that scale moving again. It seems like it will be another plateau at least for a couple weeks or so. I find I go through that on the way down especially the closer to goal I get. Not complaining, I already can wear way more things than I could before and feel a LOT better!

Great job w/ your eating! My arms are flabby, too! I have jello arms! I do not want to have jello arms, so I need to get movin'!

I'm glad tat you're feeling a lot better, and that you can fit into more clothes.

I bet there were some rules about what could air on youtube before it was over. The couple from the US that won the silver in ice dancing was just adorable!

So how's the eating and exercise coming and weight?

I forgot to weigh this morning. I am going to do some more weights tonight. Back hurt last night some from the last time so I have to take it easier. I am saving up money for a treadmill now. Right on track with eating. Still having only one cup of coffee a day usually. May have to also evaluate other things if the scale doesn't start moving soon again. I have been at 152.5 for over a week. It's too soon yet though. I'll way maybe another week and rethink.

Saving for a treadmill. You're getting a used one, right? 'Cuz you know that a gazillion of them are out there being used for nothing, and people get rid of them all the time.

Great job w/ your eating and coffee!! And great job being patient!! AWESOME!

Eating is fine. Lots of salt and not enough fluids. I keep trying, but I don't feel well, and filling my belly w/ liquids when it feels icky already is difficult.

I did eat bananas and potatoes for a couple of days to combat diarrhea and to eat SOMEthing that wouldn't make me feel worse, but I'm back to meat and fat. Nothing sounds good yet, but I've been eating onplan when I do eat.

Thanks!!!! About the treadmill not sure about anything. I may look around but it is hard to find time. I was thinking of one at Walmart since I don't really care if it's fancy.

copied from the WIT thread

I've been reading about thyroid and lowcarb. I had completely forgotten that (apparently) consuming under 45-50 carbs and fewer than 1500 calories is worse on thyroid hormones.

I eat almost no carbs so that I can lose weight. I lost and kept off around 14 lbs from Oct 08 - Oct 09 while fiddling, trying to figure things out. I've lost 22 lbs in the past 5 months while doing Atkins 72. BUT my thyroid symptoms are more severe, I think.

I think that I should up my carbs by increasing veggies, get some exercise, then get everything tested to see what's going on. If I can get my thyroid regulated, then maybe I will be able to lose while eating more carbs. I mean...it won't be Atkins in that I won't be doing ketosis and CCL, but it will still be Atkins foods...I'll just have to learn to watch calories, probably, so that I lose. (Assuming that it will work!!) It didn't work last year when my thyroid wasn't regulated the way that I've been reading that it should be. I think. I want to get copies of my lab tests from the past year+ to see what's been going on.

Enquiring minds want to know.

I'm actually excited about this now...it took a bit. Because:

1. Maybe it will help to get my thyroid meds regulated, then I'll feel better, quit losing my hair, etc.

2. I love vegetables!!

Even though I don't expect to lose weight for awhile, (but you never know...maybe it could happen? a little?) it will be fun to eat things like Yum Thai beef salad, stir-fried veggies, Thai beef w/ green beans... VEGGIIIIIIEEEESSSSSSS!!!

I LOVE the way you are thinking through this instead of giving up Wendy! You are doing exactly the right thing! If you are determined to do it then you will. That's what it takes!!!

Thanks so much!

I'm actually not sure of what I'm doing. I read more, and it sounds like it's the COMBO/ratio of net carbs to calories that's important. For example, eating low carbs and low calories isn't good--1500 cal w/ 45+ net carbs sounds like it's OK, and eating around 1800 calories w/ lower carbs is OK. I'd like to know some specifics, but I can't find the studies!

I typically eat more calories when upping my carbs (2000 calories on days w/ 30 total carbs--not net) and fewer calories w/ fewer carbs (sometimes 1100 calories w/ under 10 carbs) (1400-1500 calories w/ 20 carbs). I'm doing it backwards!

I think that the carbs make me hungry, so I eat more. Maybe I'll start my own thread in the thyroid section. That sounds like it might be helpful.

I know how to lose weight, but it might be messing up my thyroid medicine so... I don't know much about it, either!

Yeah that's tough when you have something else you can mess up while doing the other thing. Like Peskie's BP.

I have been really tired lately but sometimes I think it's just a part of life for me. Ya know? It's hard to know how much tiredness is normal, how much is laziness and how much you shouldn't be because of something else!

I don't think that it's normal to be tired.

Have you done the quiz in the Mood Cure?

Nope! Fast quiz! There's one online if you want to print it and actually write on it. I did that and took it to my ND to show to him.
