Something about seeing others succeed ya know? I can't believe I'll be under 160 again soon!

Have I mentioned I am excited?

Yeah, me, too!

Last fall I was 213.5.
Last December I was 198.
After low-carbing for most of a year, I decided to DO Atkins '72 (not fiddle w/ it) and I started it weighing 204.

I'm glad that I learned a lot during the past year, so that it doesn't seem like a complete waste--weightloss wise.

Yes I heard somewhere you shouldn't "Waste your trials" LOVE that. It goes with seeming "failures" too. I KNOW how to do this this time and I hope I know how to maintain. That is my very hardest thing to do. I KNOW how to lose until I am underweight but don't know how to stay at a good weight.

Maintaining...hmm....have you followed the instructions in the book? I haven't been there yet, at least not low-carb. I lost over 20 lbs in high school, and kept most of that off until I got pregnant. Then I lost over 70 lbs and kept that off for a couple/few years until getting pregnant, again.

No I haven't. Since I don't really COUNT carbs except in my head I just keep the carbs low and then when I lose as much as I want I don't know what to do. I think I would rather die than follow the rules. Okay that's a weakness of a Sanguine.

Yeah, I have that weakness, too, except that I have the lion strength that says that when I know how to do something, and the rules make sense, then I'm going to follow them--until they no longer make sense, of course!

Here's what I would try, I think:

When around 5 lbs from goal, I'd start using ****** to see how many carbs I'm eating on a regular basis. I'd start adding to them (in the manner suggested in the book) and see at which point I quit losing. I would then continue (assuming that I'm at the weight that I want) to add carbs weekly, keeping track!, until I gain. Then I'd know the range that I could consume w/o gaining. I would THINK (and could be wrong, of course ) that I would just eat in the manner that I was eating between the CCLL and the CCLG. Then, if my weight starts to go up, I'd start using ****** again to see if I am accidentally started to exceed my CCLG. I know that tracking isn't fun, but if it helps to keep you where you need to be, then the inconvenience is worth it, IMO!

Holy moly! I tried to reread that to see if it makes sense, and I got lost in the middle!!

Seriously or are you joking?

Really...I hate rules unless they make sense. And I always think about whether or not they make sense. I wonder if golden retrievers have an easier time following a diet?

Serious I am afraid. When I just read your last paragraph which I couldn't finish I got literally sick at my stomach.

Peskie is the one that likes to graph and keep records. I think you have a lot of otter in you, just sayin'. Maybe you are half and half? Anyway, I have kept ****** before and with calories it helps a bit but not carbs. I can't even think about counting carbs and adding 5 or 10 a week. I don't know what the answer is. Maybe the ADHD makes it hard for me too not sure. I have that really really bad if you didn't know.

Oh and if it sounds like I am making excuses, ask anyone I AM NOT one to do that. But I have to look at reality and how it's been in the past. I have to pick something I will DO, something that is POSSIBLE to do for me. I can't even grasp keeping records and adding a few carbs a week until I stop losing or gaining.

If it helps, I don't even want to read what I wrote! Too much thinking required!

I don't like to count things, either. I do not like measuring my foods then putting them into ******. I like graphs, but I like to do things then be done w/ them. Not one for repetition! My otter score is really close to my lion score. I told DH that's why I get really frustrated when I play around--because I feel like I should be accomplishing something! I have had to work on learning that relaxing IS accomplishing something. My ND helped a LOT w/ that.

I can see how ADHD would make it even more difficult.

Hmm...maybe if you just eat the way that you want to eat--the lowcarb way that you want to eat, I mean!--and see how that goes? If you start to gain doing that, do the beginning of the diet, then go back to eating ALMOST the way that you want to eat? (I mean fewer carbs, less fat...cutting down on something.) That seems to me like it might be easy enough to stick to, and effective enough to work. What do you think?

I know that you're not making excuses!

Right now, maybe focusing on what you are doing NOW would be best, then consider what to do later when you're closer to it?

Maybe BUT I wish I knew the answer so I could sort of prepare for it this time. I think MAYBE if I just start adding a certain food that has more carbs that I really like say for a bit to see how that does it would work. Hmmmmmmm

Speaking of which those poppers burned me all last night until about 2 in the morning. Maybe no more of those for me. I hardly ever have problems with anything I eat.

OK. Tired, but not sure why.

I had leftover whipped cream w/ sweeteners in it for breakfast. After cooking the kids' breakfast, I didn't feel like cooking food for myself. I'll probably go cook some bacon, anyway. Likely having bacon for lunch, and pizza w/o crust for dinner. Yum!
