That's great that you know what causes you to stall. Awesome! I haven't yet figured that out. Too many carbs is all that I know.

You just reminded me that I'm "supposed" to start exercising today. I don't usually mind, but this time...I don't want to do it!
HA! Great then I helped you too! It took me YEARS to really find out what tended to give me hunger cravings, what contributed to stalls etc. I can drink any kind of diet soft drinks for instance with no problem. Sugar alcohols affect me by giving me cravings like there's no tomorrow. More than 2 T. of heavy cream per day stall me. I can eat peanuts as long as I keep it under 2 oz. per day. A bite of real a sugary treat is the kiss of death for me like Dr. A. says so I just can't have one. If I take a "free day" like some people do, I tend to go totally downhill from there so it's just not worth it to me. Salads and veggies help my weight loss tremendously, especially green leafy ones. Eggs are GREAT for controlling my cravings and filling me up. I tend to go out of control with beef jerky. I can eat processed meats with no problem. That is all I can think of right off. Oh weighing less than once every other day is not good for me either. I actually do better weighing every day. Of course all of the above is certainly different for everybody. (bread gives me bad cravings too even if I add it into the number of carbs for the day, sometimes later on can eat ONE piece but ABSOLUTELY more is too risky). Wow, this was a good reminder for me!

Oh and I THINK the purpose of eating a salad for 2 of the cups recommened per day is more the fiber than the nutrition. I know I do lose better with including raw veggies. Haven't found a good substitute for them either.

Yeah, I was thinking that part of the reason might be fiber.

Lots of good information there for you to know!

Let's see...what do I know about myself?
  • Simple carbs are bad for me! They lead me down the fattening road.
  • I ate low-carb bread one week and gained 7 lbs. Maybe it was 2 weeks. Either way, my ND said, "Well, now we know that you should stay away from bread." And I have ever since.
  • Pizza toppings are GREAT for me for losing weight.
  • Processed meats are OK for my weight loss efforts.
  • I love cream, but haven't kept good enough food records lately to see if it's a staller.
  • Free meals usually kick me out of ketosis for days. Weight goes up, doesn't come back down for days.
  • I weigh almost everyday. I don't think that it bothers me to do that, but it isn't good for me to ignore the scale.

Wow, we are a lot alike then! Heavy cream and peanuts don't bother me until I get close to goal weight. Then it's EXTREMELY hard to get those last 10 pounds off. That's when I tend to get very frustrated and feel deprived because I have to watch high calorie things like heavy cream and pizza toppings.

Yeah, we do seem to be. Maybe it will be REALLY helpful for us to share a journal.

I don't want to watch high calorie things.

You may never have to. I am talking about when I got to about 145 before and wanted to go to 135 which I know now is too thin for me after I got there.

Eh, but I'll do it if I need to do it! I'd rather be thin (and healthy) than overweight and eating what I want.

I just know that when I was on LC and thinner, I did NOT have a problem with BP or cholesterol. When I gained back and went off LC I started having those problems.

I don't know what I should weigh this time around. I want to wear a size 6 or 8, probably 6. I want to have muscles this time, though, so that makes me not sure about the weight.

Oh, and I know what I want my stomach to look like. So, I plan to use my stomach and pants size as a guide.

Good thinking! You have to be ready to change goals at any point. AND be realistic about things.

When I was at 135 about 6 years ago I wore a size 4. When I look at pictures I see why everyone was telling me I was too thin. BUT I liked it. I LOVED how I looked. Everyone too has a different idea of what "good" looks like and I know that now. So if I still feel good at that weight then I will go there again. I can't rely on what people say because they tell me I look great NOW and don't need to lose and I know that I am an unhealthy weight for me for sure and it is causing health problems. I won't listen to people as much this time. Some more "otter" descriptions I just read are:
  1. cheerful and confident; optimistic; hopeful
I will use these as tools to get there. They are a part of me. Unfortunately impatience comes with those but since I have been on the LC road before I hope I can draw from that experience this time and remember IT TAKES TIME!!!!

Thanks! A nurse practitioner at church said if you can lose 10 pounds it can make a huge difference in those 2 things. I don't wanna be 60 and on 15 kinds of medicines!

I want to keep track of what I'm eating.

Breakfast
1 TBSP coconut oil
1/2 sausage (not breakfast sausage...the kind that people grill)

tea:
1 c. Ginger something w/ stevia and 2 TBSP HWC
1 c. haute chocolate w/ stevia and 2 TBSP HWC

I finally measured the amount of HWC that I use in tea and coffee. I think that I've been drinking over a cup each day lately! No wonder I haven't been very hungry most of the time. Yummm...HWC.

I want to find a source for raw cream, though. What I get is from skimming the milk that I buy. I usually only skim a little less than a pint from a gallon. I could get more, but I don't want the kids to not have fat in their milk. (Boy, I'll bet THAT sounds weird to a lot of Americans nowadays.)

Oh, gotta run! Heater repairman is on his way. Yay! I'm cold, and not enjoying the extra electricity that we're using trying to heat the house. Going to get back to our gas heat. Yay! (It costs less here.)

More food

other half of the sausage = 4 carbs total
smoked salmon dip (1 TBSP cream cheese) = 1 carb, probably
more tea w/ stevia

GOOD looking menus Wendy! Yeah I could drink a good pint of heavy cream by itself in one sitting. EASY. LOVE the stuff. 2 T. is not very much. I decided I want one cup of coffee (like 16 oz. with the 2 T. HC) and do without the rest of the coffee.

A girl next to me is seriously thinking of trying Atkins. She has diabetes and it's getting worse. I hope she does, that will be a good motivator too. AND I'll have to be a good role model for her!

I couldn't believe that I was blaming the scale!!

Mmm...cream.

I'm considering going off dairy for awhile, but I'll wait until I talk to my doctor about why I get so sick so frequently. I don't want to not have dairy which might indicate that it's a problem. I do have an intolerance to casien, which is milk protein. I just don't think that I have the problems when consuming non-homogenized and/or raw milk. I'm wondering if it's still lowering my immune system, though. Thinking...if he were to ask me if I'd rather try giving up dairy or try kicking the cats outside, I'd choose giving up the milk products, and that indicates to me that I CAN do it--I'd be determined to do it for the kids. Plus, I, too, like the kitty cats.

That would be awesome if somebody at work were to do Atkins w/ you!!
