~*~*~* Maggie's Journal *~*~*~

A quick lowdown..

I'm 27 (turning 28 this Dec) ... married with 2 kids, had my 2nd child on May 19th 2008 - reaching my all time high of 270 lbs (I'm 5'9" with a "large" frame).. before my pregnancy, I was on and off Atkins the past year and a half ~ losing a max of 30lbs before wrecking all my hard working and piling it all back on. Lowest weight of my adult weight was 217.5 and I reached that with Atkins, so I decided on July 2nd (2008) to start it up again... been kinda bouncing around on it ~ not really counting carbs all this time, but after DH's birthday in August and a few indulgences in some ice cream cake (doah!) I'm counting carbs now - strictly - and the weight is coming off again.. YAY!

So I'm using this to post my menus - keeping track of my water intake, exercise, etc ... feel free to post any comments, encouragement, anything - I love the company!

Thursday (Sept 4th):
Weight: 230.2
Water: 4L
Exercise: 30 mins on treadmill

Breakfast ~ 7 oz bacon, 2 eggs = 1.78 carbs
Lunch ~ leftovers of the previous nights supper (Spag. squash mash) = 6 carbs
Supper ~ steak, BBQ sauce (2T mayo, 1t garlic powder, 1t onion powder) = 4.56 carbs
Snacks ~ Coffee: 1t instant coffee, 2T cream, 2 Sugar Twin ~ 2.81 carbs X 2

Total for the day: 17.96

Hey Heidi honey - thanks for posting! Sorry WW isn't working for you right now - get back on track and you'll do great - or come over to the dark side and have some bacon and cheese with me! LOL

Eats for Monday, Sept 8th:

Weight: 227.6
Water: 1L or so - did really crappy with my water today!
Exercise: nothing AGAIN

Breakfast: Steak ~ 2.28
Snack: 5 deviled eggs ~ 1.9
Lunch: Steak ~ 2.28
Supper: 2 deviled eggs ~ 0.76 (Not hungry!)
Snack: coffee X 2 ~ 5.62
Total for the day ~ 12.84

Definitely not pleased with my carbs being SO low and eating SO crappy today ~ I NEED to stop being so lazy and make my salads and veggies - I LOVE eating them so that's not the issue - just tired/lazy.. lol.. it certainly isn't cause of Layla cause she's SUCH a good baby But I really wasn't hungry all that much today.. I would get hungry and then would say "OK - after I get this done, I'll go eat" but then I wouldn't be hungry anymore

Anywho.. scales right now are saying 227.2 and usually I drop 2 lbs thru the night so that's pretty sweet, but I know tomorrow when I get back to drinking my water that it'll go up again.. hehe.. stupid water - god I hate drinking it! 4 L is a little much.. maybe I'll drink 3L tomorrow.. we'll see!

Night night!

If you're not hungry, that means that ketosis kicked in. Whoo Hoo!

Hon, I don't think you're lazy, just busy. Or like I said the other day, I'll admit it, I didn't feel like it.

I know you hate water, what about adding some lemon to it? do you like green tea? I bought some powdered Mint green tea. It's not bad.

Just some ideas.

You're doing good though.

Hey Karen I don't like lemon flavor at all :P I don't mind green tea, but I would have to use a bunch of sweeteners in it and they make me retain water so it kinda defeats the purpose for me - LOL.. thanks for the tips though - I may get desperate someday! lol

So.. BIG changes in my life will start taking place soon. What you may or may not know about me is that I am a chef ~ I haven't cooked professionally in years but I graduated from Culinary Arts in 2000. I took a break from it because cooking in restaurants isn't what I liked doing.. I enjoy more "institutionalized" type work settings and around here, the pay is just not feasible.
Another thing you probably don't know is that when I was growing up, I was heavily involved in Sea Cadets and LOVED every moment of it. When I graduated from high school and had to move on to college, I had to hang up my cap and say goodbye (Cadets end when you're 18/19 anyway). I had always thought about joining the Navy as a cook, but never tried because you have to be very fit. So I went to Culinary School instead.
A few months before I got pregnant with Brayden, I decided to give it a go anyway and started filling out all the paper work to join the Navy ~ it's called "Regular Force" - Canada combines the Army, Navy and Air all into one.. I failed the physical fitness test miserably, but alas I got pregnant and never thought too much about it again...

Until now. SO.. DH is behind me 100% and I'm starting to fill out the paper work and get this show on the road - I'm finally going to be a cook in the Navy! (or Army or Air.. LOL ~ wherever they stick me!) Since I have a family, they would stick me on a base somewhere in Canada (hoping for somewhere in BC or Ontario) so that I could just go to work, do my thing, and then go home to my family at night. SWEET.. the pay is amazing and would do so much for us.. only downside is that I would have to go away to Quebec for 13 weeks of "Basic Training" .. I still get paid for that and also get separation pay for being away from my family, but that'll be a LOOOOOOONG 13 weeks *sigh* But the benefits far outweigh the negative..

So my trainer is whooping my but into shape - big time! There is no physical fitness test anymore, but you still need to be able to run 6kms and do at least 3 chin ups, 9 push ups (real ones, not the girlie ones!) and at least 15 sit ups (elbows to the knees!) by the time you go to Basic Training. I probably won't be doing Basic Training until July of next year - that's when we can finally get Layla into a daycare so I'll have from now until July-ish to get in shape - very do-able and I'm so excited!!

SO this is why I'm not going to really have much time to spend with all my lovely ladies on the other thread..... my time will be devoted to family, and getting in shape - and then come January - back to work :P

I have so much paperwork to get together it's mind boggling - I'm going to go get a head start on it now!!

Night night!
