PreciousOne's journal

Hi all -

I'm starting a'new in August, with LC'ing. I'm hoping, with God's help, (and a lot of support from people here) that I will lose the weight I've gained the past few years... and then some...

In this journal I will post what I eat everyday, and my exercise, and even pictures.

Thanks for dropping by!

I'm excited about starting LCing again. I am mainly doing The Light Weigh but I will only eat LC foods.

The Light Weigh is a spiritual based weight loss and bible study program.
From their site:
Quote:
The Light Weigh is a 12 week Video Series - Bible Study where you will learn a new approach to eating and to prayer. Light Weigh members learn to eat the foods they enjoy in moderation. The Light Weigh is international and is done throughout the United States, Canada, Ireland and Australia. All Light Weigh groups use the same format.

The Light Weigh Video Series is designed to be done in small groups in your parish or in your home. The Light Weigh is Catholic, and so it is able to draw upon the FULLNESS of the Truth found in our beautiful Faith, the Faith that Jesus Himself founded personally and designed.

By following The Light Weigh, you will learn to attain peace with food by imitating the example of Jesus and the spirituality of two of His devoted followers; St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Therese, The Little Flower.

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

OVEREATING verses PEACE WITH FOOD

The reason people overeat is not due to a nutritional need, but an emotional need. We tend to go to food for emotions such as, stress, worry, anxiety, boredom, relaxation, nervousness, distraction, anger, sadness, loneliness etc.. God (The Father, Son and Holy Spirit) has designed everyone with a ready made hole in their heart. God did this so we would be incomplete without Him. This longing, this incompleteness, causes us to seek Him; which is what He wants us to do! God is the only thing that will fill our "heart hole" perfectly. The problem is in trying to fill this spiritual hunger with everything but Him. God alone is the perfect "piece" to our hearts, that gives us perfect "peace." This is why it is so important to approach attaining peace with food from a spiritual perspective.

Dieting puts people into a "shortage mentality" and steals from them the ability to gain peace with food. The goal of The Light Weigh is to help you attain "Peace With Food." Dieting will never give you peace with food, because it is totally food-focused and self-focused. In The Light Weigh, God’s Love transforms.

MAIN MESSAGE and MATERIALS

The main message of The Light Weigh is to remind people how PRECIOUS they are to God. To remind them of God’s immense and continuous love for us, no matter what they weigh. God wants us to go to Him for the spiritual hunger we have been trying to fill with food. When we begin to fill our heart with Him, that is when we begin to see our temptation to overeat diminish. The filling of the heart is a process and The Light Weigh gives members specific materials; a Light Weigh Workbook, a Light Weigh Audio series and a Light Weigh Spiritual Growth Kit, which when used along with the Light Weigh Video series, help this transformation in the heart to take place. The Light Weigh also does an eating example every week to reinforce The Light Weigh approach to eating and peace with food. NOTE: The Light Weigh videos remain the property of The Light Weigh. The Light Weigh video series is on loan to your group for as long as you are meeting as a group and doing the program. When you are finished with the program you return the videos to The Light Weigh.

MEETINGS

The Light Weigh meetings are an hour and a half, once a week for 12 weeks. There are no weigh-ins at the meetings. The first 30 minutes of the meeting is spent discussing the Bible Study, written around the topic of the week; the rest of the meeting is spent watching the weekly Light Weigh Video. The videotapes for each week vary in length, but are not longer than an hour.

A GROUP PROGRAM

Why do I have to do it in a group?! The Light Weigh is designed for group use only. It takes 3 people including yourself to make a group. A group provides many things necessary for you to change. Your group meetings are a sign of commitment on your part; they help you to fit the program into your busy schedule and provide a weekly check-in and accountability. Jesus has said, "Where two or more of you gather in my name there I will be also." Groups provide encouragement, friendship, example and the opportunity to help one another. Suzanne Fowler, the author and founder of The Light Weigh, also joined and started a Light Weigh group when she launched the program many years ago and lost her weight in a group setting. It makes a difference when people pray and make sacrifices for each other. Over and over The Light Weigh has heard how much people enjoy getting together for their Light Weigh Bible Study and meeting. It’s fun!

BECOMING A LIGHT WEIGH MEMBER

Once you have become a member of The Light Weigh and receive your materials, you are ready to begin! The cost of The Light Weigh materials is $135.00 plus S&H, per person. This covers the workbook, audio series, spiritual growth kit and attending the video program. As long as your group is continuing to meet, you may repeat the program as many times as you like during the first year without paying the full cost again. All you need do each time your repeat is purchase the next audio series for $30 plus S&H. Light Weigh Members have told us they love their meetings! They have formed wonderful friendships and gained wisdom, strength and encouragement from other Light Weigh members.

Over and over we hear how The Light Weigh has changed peoples lives, and we give total credit to the Holy Spirit. Read the "Success Stories" section. It is our prayer that each Light Weigh member will experience a greater appreciation of God’s great love for them, rediscover and connect more deeply with the Catholic Faith and the treasures our Church contains to help them in their daily struggles and attain the peace with food they seek.
I don't have meetings I attend, but two LW yahoogroups I check in to. I am a member but can't make any meetings due to where I live (Sweden)... no groups exist...

I am crossposting this between the dietalk forum journal and Christian thread, and my lcf journal here; Devotions for Dieters...

Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.

Terry had been a savior. It was so nice to find someone who had gone through a long, hard diet before. God had really brought them together. At the time Lisa needed someone most, Terry had miraculously showed up. Lisa wondered whether Terry wasn't an angel in disguise. She had been such a great help. God often answers our prayers through the people He sends into our lives at key times. It is good to seek out the support of others who can relate to what we're going through. Pray that God will lead you to such people, so they might accompany you through the tough times.

Today's thought: Help me remember that I'm not alone!

Good one...

Quote:
Tomorrow Is Not Promised

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, they serve some sort of purpose; teach you a lesson, or help figure out who you are, and who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be: your neighbor, child, long lost friend, or even a stranger who, when you lock eyes with them, you know at that very moment that they will affect your life, in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you, and at the time they seem painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize, that without overcoming those obstacles, you would have never realized your potential strength, or your hearts desire.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness, as well as experiencing sheer stupidity; all occur to test the limits of your soul.

Without these small tests, whether they be events, illnesses or relationships, life would be like a paved straight flat road to nowhere, safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life, and the successes and downfalls you experience, create who you are, and even the bad experiences can be learned from; in fact, they are probably the poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them; for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart...

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love, and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count. Appreciate every moment, and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again...

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high...

Hold your head up, because you have every right too. Tell yourself you're a great person and believe in yourself... for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.

Create your own life and then go out and live in it! "Live Each Day As If It Were Your Last... Tomorrow is Not Promised."

Oh how I love my Holy Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary -

Message of July 25, 2008 (from medjugorje.org)
"Dear children! At this time when you are thinking of physical rest, I
call you to conversion. Pray and work so that your heart yearns for
God the Creator who is the true rest of your soul and your body. May
He reveal His face to you and may He give you His peace. I am with
you and intercede before God for each of you. Thank you for having
responded to my call."

Wow, got this in my inbox, it sure touched me.

Quote:
A little six-year-old Protestant boy had often heard his Catholic companion reciting the prayer 'Hail Mary.' He liked it so much that he copied it, memorized it and would recite it every day. 'Look, Mummy, what a beautiful prayer,' he said to his mother one day.
'Never again say it,' answered the mother.' it is a superstitious prayer of Catholics who adore idols and think Mary a goddess. After all, she is a woman like any other. Come on, take this Bible and read it. It contains everything that we are bound to do and have to do.' From that day on the little boy discontinued his daily 'Hail Mary' and gave himself more time to reading the Bible instead.
One day, while reading the Gospel, he came across the passage about the Annunciation of the Angel to Our Lady. Full of joy, the little boy ran to his mother and said: 'Mummy, I have found the 'Hail Mary' in the Bible which says: 'Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women. ' Why do you call it a superstitious prayer?'
On another occasion he found that beautiful Salutation of St. Elizabeth to The Virgin Mary and the wonderful canticle. MAGNIFICAT in which Mary foretold that 'the generations would call her blessed.'
He said no more about it to his mother but started to recite the 'Hail Mary' every day as before. He felt pleasure in addressing those charming words to the Mother of Jesus, our Savior.
When he was fourteen, he one day heard a discussion on Our Lady among the members of his family. Every one said that Mary was a common woman like any other woman. The boy, after listening to their erroneous reasoning, could not bear it any longer, and full of indignation, he interrupted them, saying: 'Mary is not like any other children of Adam, stained with sin. No! The Angel called her FULL OF GRACE AND BLESSED AMONGST WOMEN. Mary is the Mother of Jesus Christ and consequently Mother of God. There is no higher dignity to which a creature can be raised. The Gospel says that the generations will proclaim her blessed and you are trying to despise her and look down on her. Your spirit is not the Spirit Of the Gospel or of the Bible which you proclaim to be the foundation of the Christian religion.'
So deep was the impression which the boy's talk had made that his mother many times cried out sorrowfully: 'Oh my God! I fear that this son of mine will one day join the Catholic religion, the religion of Popes!' And indeed, not very long afterwards, having made a serious study of both Protestantism and Catholicism, the boy found the latter to be the only true religion and embraced it and became one of its most ardent apostles.
Some time after his conversion, he met his married sister who rebuked his and said indignantly: 'You little know how much I love my children. Should any one of them desire to become a Catholic, I would sooner pierce his heart with a dagger than allow him to embrace the religion of the Popes!'
Her anger and temper were as furious as those of St. Paul before his conversion. However, she would change her ways, just as St. Paul did on his way to Damascus. It so happened that one of her sons fell dangerously ill and the doctors gave up hope of recovery. Her brother then approached, her and spoke to her affectionately, saying:
'My dear sister, you naturally wish to have your child cured. Very well, then, do what I ask you to do. Follow me, let us pray one 'Hail Mary' and promise God that, if your son recovers his health, you would seriously study the Catholic doctrine, and should you come to the conclusion that Catholicism is the only true religion, you would embrace it no matter what the sacrifices may be.'
His sister was somewhat reluctant at the beginning but as she wished for her son's recovery. She accepted her brother's proposal and recited the 'Hail Mary' together with him. The next day her son was completely cured! The mother fulfilled her promise and she studied the Catholic doctrine. After long preparation she received Baptism together with her family, thanking her brother for being an apostle to her.
The story was related during a sermon given by the Rev. Father Tuckwell. 'Brethren, he went on and said, 'The boy who became a Catholic and converted his sister to Catholicism dedicated his whole life to the service of God. He is the priest who is speaking to you now! What I am I owe to Our Lady. You, too, my dear brethren, be entirely dedicated also to Our Lady and never let a day pass without saying the beautiful prayer, 'Hail Mary', and your Rosary. Ask her to enlighten the minds of Protestants who are separated from the true Church of Christ founded on the Rock (Peter) and 'against whom the gates of hell shall never prevail.'
