Start's Progression
I made a huge mistake today and made a taco salad with some taco bell meat.. which gave me bathroom issues and made me ravernous and i ended up eating a few potato chips just 3 and half a atkins bar while waiting for my meal to cook... not too bad and should have no effect.. but i'm trying to stay away from sugar alcohols and foods that could start cravings..
Todays weight: 235 Next weigh in August 15, 08 mini goal for that day 225 |

Whelp today started off wrong again lol... i'm sorry it's hard to do this without "treats" I like potato and chocolate lol....
I had 3 potato chips again today lol and before I realized it was eating a sugar free pudding, after two bites i realized i wasnt suppose to be eating it and threw it out.. i hope what i did eat doesnt effect me... we'll see tommorrow even though i'm not suppose to be weighing lol... I jumped on the scale this morning just because it's apart of my routine, forgot i was doing monthly weigh ins and it was 233 so YEA!!! I also had fast food again today, i figured some people on this board have done way better than i have consuming fast food, so maybe i should get with the program... had the famous wendy's baconator.... disgusting!!!! i forced myselt to eat a little under half of one of the patties and a little bacon... waste of 5 i'm not a huge meat eater in general(before this plan that is lol), but that burger made me want to gag... it stunk too lol.... LOL i didn't have any potato chips or pudding today.. but I did have a bite of pizza crust and a hand full of pepperoni, yeah i know lol.. I counted that pizza crust as 5 carbs lol...anyways... i haven't been happy with the way my low carb adventure has been going and as evident by my recent behavior i'm getting fed up not having things, i'd usually eat... feeling guilty about a bite of pizza or a few chips isn't a good thing... but for some reason i've committed to this plan.. I know people have seen good result with this plan, granted way faster than my results, but its a proven plan... even with that i was checking out weight watchers today and yikes!!! just for breakfast i'd use up my points lol...
Tomorrow hopefully i will not let temptation get in the way..no bite of pizza, no 3 potato chips, no sugar free pudding or atkins bar..even though i'm craving something sweet as i type this lol... It doesnt seem like it will be hard to give those things up because i am just so fed up.... I want this already... hope i make my mini goal... |

So today i didnt do so good lol.. i had 2 atkins bars and ate over 2000 cals.. i hardly ever go over 2000 i was really hungry today.. still am kinda hungry but I am gonna try and wait it out....
I also ended up weighing today..which is a bad habit, that hopefully ended today.. Today's Weight: 230 Next Weigh in August 15, 2008 Quote:

I went overboard on cheese today lol... i've been staying away from it, had about 3 ounces just for breakfast lol....
Also i read the lable wrong on some sugar free licorice, some how i thought it had 1 carb per serving turns out it has 10 and i ate a serving last night yikes... I also purchased some new atkin bars and they are totally gross..braf-a-rama they taste like they have coffee or hazelnut or some type of gross food i dont like that i can't put my foot on... I didnt weigh today because i was feeling like a blimp probably due to the licorice i misread last night.... Which is a good thing i need to break that habit... |

MmmMmm I forgot i bought cheese until i just read the above post.. now i want some badly lol... i'll try and hold off... we'll today was cool... i've been tweaking my calories.. i'm not sure if i should stay with last weeks amount or tweak it again this week and have a set amount for a month or so... I kinda like teh calories i'm at now, its around bmr, i just read that eating under bmr can cause bloat adn i've had plent of issue with that... and that could be the cause...this new set of cals per day i got from a website it's about 200 cals lower than what i'm at right now... so i dont know.. i dont wanna screw a good thing up and then be set back a week, i also dont wanna miss out on a good thing and not be at my goal sooner... I HATE TWEAKING!!!!

Bleh today was okay... i didnt eat on plan like i normally do i was running around all day... I went to my local health food store and they had flax meal i didnt buy any cause i have no clue what to do with it lol...i also bought some zevia havent tried it.... my local store didnt have a lot of the stuff i thought they would, they basically had most of the stuff teh grocery store has... blah...

i'm not sure what's going on with my body right now... i haven't cheated... all i did was switch up my calories and seems like i have been gaining daily.. i am probably 10 pounds heavier than i was 3 days ago... and today i was ravenous.. i ate probably 3,000 cals.. oh well... i'll try my cal tweak again next week.. i hope it doesnt take weeks to get rid of this water weight...

Today i felt so fat i jumped on the scale, i was trying not to weigh but i had to see and i have gained 4 pounds...why i have no clue the only thing i did was change my calories...i still ate the same amount just changed how many on which days... very strange...
And i've been having these strange upper abdominal pains, it's liek way huge 15 mins upper body cramp..it's painful very disabling, i almost went to the ER but it left... it was very strange.... I hope this bloat leaves soon.... Thanks i'll check it out... |

Today i felt less fat lol... jumped on the scale and have lost 2 pounds so i'm hoping the rest of the water will leave sometime soon as well...
my leg muscles ache... I really shouldnt have switched up my cals but i wanted to see if it would work and still do lol... i believe what the problem was, was one day i had to eat below bmr in order to make the days even out, and my body doesnt like that and rebelled ![]() Last edited by Start : 07-27-2008 at 04:02 PM. |

Basically i'm just maintaining... at 5 pound gain..*back to 235*
Hmmmm the only thing i did different was change my calories and added some cheese... darn it, i'm leaning it was more because of the cheese....welp i'll cut out the cheese...try and refrain from the low carb bars even though i dont believe they are a problem... and just generally try and eat lower carb... it has been hard this last week... i think i ate 30 carbs a couple of days... some days i just need more veggies... i've been eating cauliflower for the past 2 days, i've been craving salad but have convinced myself that just like cheese its a gainer/staller and looks like i was right about the cheese and am probably right about the salad... Pretty soon i'll just have to face the facts low carb isn't for everyone maybe i'm one of them... if i dont make my mini goal by the 15th i'll have to try some other mode of low carb.. cycling, sb..something.... |

Yesterday was really hard my body was craving carbs so bad.. it was sickening... i got threw it, i have given up the LC bars after i ate 3 yesterday and was tearing apart the house frantically looking for one this morning i have decided enough is enough... back to the basics..seems so sad that i cant even enjoy an on plan snack... i was looking at my online journal and food logs from a while ago and i did go a month without any kind of "snack" and all my post were about how i wasn't losing... so it might not be the snacks but still i'm going to try it without the bars since i've gone mad with them...
I went overboard on the carbs, yesterday i had around 30 net and today i've already had 7 net 11 actual carbs.. and i'm trying to give myself 20.. i think it might be time to see if i can force my carb tolerance up...i've only been up to 30 and gained..maybe if i go 35-40 net... i might start losing... I think i've lost 1 pound i'm not sure i moved the scale lol... |

good morning start
i think it's a good idea to keep focusing on one day at a time, eating right and not being too focused on the scales and what they're doing. i know this is a lot harder said than done and it's something i'm acutally telling myself over an over again too. i know in the past i've been obsessed with the numbers on the scales and i've fogotten the bigger picture of low carbing becoming a 'way of life' and not just a diet that i'm doing now. i need not to view a lack of movement on the scales as failure and an excuse to give up and get back to bad eating habits. i need to remember that if i stick to low carbing those numbers "will" eventually go down. ![]()

Why??? lol right after i wrote the above i went to get batteries and where i keep the batteries for some reason was the low carb bars i tore apart the house looking for the other day.. as well as 2 jars of peanut butter and some sugar free candies yikes lol... i bought all this junk a few days ago for some reason i got a junk food/sweet bug up my butt last week... i indulged in a spoonful of peanut butter, but a spoonful is never enough... i'll have to have someone hide the pb and bars pronto, i can't throw them out lol... the candy's in the trash though

SO today I tried to jumpstart myself with a fat fast since i have been gaining..from eating LC products... anyway it was too hard eating every 2-3 hours gross food is not for me... i was starving.. i fixed a steak *barf* i know i dont like steak i dont know why i fixed it lol... probably because i was straving lol... it was gross i ate some of it..at least it filled up my belly... i had to go to the store for something last night and i weighed myself and i was 4 pounds hevier on that scale than the day before... sigh...i'm tepted to go back today and see what i weigh.. but at least for 2 more weeks i'm done with the scales...

![]() just remember those extra lbs aren't actually fat. i have my own scales at home, i recently bought some electric scales as they tend to be more consistent and reliable than the old dial scales i had. i find different scales can give readings that vary greatly so only ever use the same set. also our body weight varies throughout the day too so i only weigh first thing in the morning after i've gone potty. finally i also weigh with the same amount and weight of clothing on (during winter it's pjs and underwear, no socks; during summer i'm buck naked, lol) so there's no fluctuations due to the weight of my clothes. this way ... whether the news from the scales is good or bad, i can be reasonably certain and confident of the accuracy of the readings. with doing this and in conjunction with keeping a strict track of the foods i'm eating in fitday ... i can determine what is and isn't working for me and make changes when necessary. i'm not sure what plan you're following at the moment but if you've the time or inclination to post your meals, others here might be able to help pin-point the weak spots in your diet. ![]() have a good day. ![]() |

Thanks Raine... i had eaten the other day before i weighed at the store.....
Okay so I didn't restart yesterday because I wanted to pinpoint when exactly i fell outta ketosis and why.. and i also wanted to exprement with my body and see how it would react... So anyway I went and bought some ketone strips yeah i know lol they aren't accurate... but i knew i wasn't in ketosis problem is i didn't know why.... and i knew i had been out for some time... so anyway I go to get the ketosis strips and barely even a trace it's in between trace and none...and i'm sure it was only slightly a trace because I tried to do the fat fast that morning and i had nothing but fat in my system and thus a little in my pee(if any) that thing was barely readable no one could decide if there was a trace or none.. the out side looked like none the inside looked like could be trace, but that could have just been the adhesive making it appear darker who knows who cares point is i wasnt in ketosis like i already knew ![]() So anyway I've had this rapid weight gain outta nowhere from eating nothing but low carb foods.... last week i was 227 this week 237 WTH.. it happened right around the time i changed my cals up i thought that was the culprit but looking at my food journals... on that same day, i had half an lc tortilla with cheese smh and a south beach bar that was suppose to be low carb and only contain 3 net carbs.... beginning of my downfall i believe, form that day on i had one low carb bar(whatever brand/variety) and i think i consumed 1-2 more of those low carb shells as well troughout that week... I also had a new brand of diet soda that i hadn;t had the previous week.... So i knew i had been out of ketosis for a while i felt i was out all last week... especially with my ravenous sweet cravings which i've never experienced low carbing... so yesterday i ate off plan to see how my body would react, basically to see how long exactly i had been off... i know in previous exprience that if i eat one thing off plan i'm 5+ pounds heavier the next day... I have gained 0 pounds so basically my body has already had time to build up it's water, food/carb tolerance etc.... and 237 is where i topped out at.. which kinda makes me feel good, makes me feel like i've come along way.. there has been times when i ate off plan and went from 240 to 259 in a matter of days.... well i'll be a freak with you. i have the ketone strips too and use them periodically to make sure i'm still in ketosis. like you i usually know though without checking. i've been in ketosis since day 2 of starting back except for that one day after i had a major blowout and cheated. it's good to hear that you are keeping a track of your foods though, i really does help when things aren't going right and you need to check back to see what you can tweak. i've never been one for the frankenfoods (aitkens bars and low carb this n that, etc) and have always preferred to stick to the basics and what i know. but reading these boards and similar i know a lot of people have problems with them, the supposed ingredients in them and the carbs. i also suspect not all manufacturers are completely honest about what's in their products but then i'm naturally skeptical, lol. ![]() i've also read bars and diet sodas etc can cause stalls and carb cravings and just figure i've got enough problems without adding all that too my diet as well. ![]() so hang in there ... i hope you don't mind me adding my two cents. ![]() |

LOL add as many cents as you want raine... yeah I think "natural" food is the best way to go too.....
So today I started my plan I won't say over because I never went off just experimented and ate on plan foods that didn't agree with me... anyways yeah so today i've had just meat and veggies and i've actually measured my veggies lol.... 1/2 just isn't enough for me... I have to have at least 2/3 of a cup..oh well... I hope i get into ketosis eating veggies, but i think veggies stall me but i certainly can't do an all meat diet... i just can't :::barf::: |

![]() what kind of vegies do you have and eat over there? it's winter here so vegies are damned expensive at the moment. my staples though are celery, broccoli and lettuce. i eat a tonne celery and i'm sick to death of it but i've heard it's good for you so persevere. i also eat small amounts of garlic, sun dried tomato and cucumber. so yeah ... there's not a lot of variety there for me but i love meat and eggs (which is just as well) so get by. ![]() my scales finally moved down a bit more in the right direction this morning so i'm glad i've been keeping at it. hope you're having a great day! ![]() |

Whelp yesterday didn't go as smoothly as i would have liked... I keep questioning if this was the plan for me.. i've been the same weight for 3 months and it's just frustrating... everyone was telling me to try another plan.. that losing a month on plan tweaking is not a big deal etc.. and it really isn't i'm just scared.. i dont wanna gain any weight back... and at least I maintain on low carb... i don't know, i really want to lose weight that is the point of this whole thing and i'm really not losing any...-sigh-
But anyway I got through yesterday and today has been cool so far.. not in ketosis yet i keep testing myself lol... *waves * thanks raine, i hope your day is going well, also.. we have a lot of veggies here lol... too many to choose from... right now my staple is letucce consisting of butterhead, romaine and iceburg.. as well as spinich, several types of peppers, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower and onions.. those are pretty much my staples... I can not stand celery lol i always pick it out... and when i was little always ate the PB out of it lol... Celery has it's own very strong taste/aroma lol... i've been wanting to try asparagus, eggplant, ginger root, mushrooms, zucchini, jimica and i wanna try and make my own tomato sauce outta fresh tomato's.. i'll wait a little longer on those though.... |
