G8rchic's Weight Loss Journey

OK so I really want to get my butt in gear and lose this fat! For the last year and a half I have done calorie counting and then LC'ing and lost 60 pounds. I want to lose 70 more but I am setting my initial goal at 150 so that would be 50 more lbs. I have been LC'ing since April with only a little success. I lost well in induction and then not much since. I don't know if it is being a little lax with the diet or what. I have had some cheat days but not many. I work out about 5 times a week, a combo of cardio and weight training. At times I feel like if any "normal" person were to workout and eat the way I do they would lose, yet I stay the same.

I am hoping if I start journaling everything I eat and my workouts it will help me focus more. I think my body has changed a lot for my workouts but at 197 and 5'5" I should see a drop in the scale as well. UGH.

OK, Stats;

Age: 28
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 197
Chest:41"
waist: 33"
Hips: 44.5"
R Arm:15.5"
L Arm:16"
Neck: 13"
Thigh: 25"

I read so many theories on this website it is hard to keep up. I am going to try to limit cheese to 3 oz a day, cream to 3 oz at most and 2 cups of veggies for now. I can easily go overboard on veggies, thinking that can't hurt but maybe it is. OK I will post at the end of the day with the day's exercise and menu.

If anyone reads this and has journaling suggestions please let me know, this is my first journal (other than simple food diaries). Thanks!

Hey G8rchic It's good to see you over here. I have a journal if you would like to check it out. It's lllllllloooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg

I think it is very common to stall out after the first few weeks of Induction. I did, got discouraged, went on vacation, etc...but I have found a few things that have worked for me over the years.

(Keep in mind that I am not LCing right now...just trying to eat what doesn't hurt my stomach.)

*limiting cheese/cream cheese is a good idea. I tried not to have more than 2-3 ounces a day, and actually didn't eat much cream cheese

*follow the book to a "T"

*add carbs back in very slowly - This is important because Dr. A says in his original book that by adding them in slowly, your body adjusts better

*when you are hungry, eat!

I had a lot of success following the Atkins original version of the diet last year. I started it again in January, but got sick and couldn't do it anymore. But, it starts out with very few carbs, and adds them in very slowly. It works! If you have any questions about it, I can find a challenge thread that I was on last year where we posted the "rules" for Atkins 72 in the challenge.

You have come so far. I know you'll get this figured out. BTW, I saw your comparison pics in the Main Lobby a while back and they were very inspirational.

Thanks Sue! I really hope everything turns around for you!

Here is what I ate today:
B: Egg Cream (3 egg, 3 oz hw cream, splenda, coffee)
L: One Minute Muffin
D: 6 oz Sirloin with salad with shitake sesame dressing (1 carb)
Snack: Oopsie grilled chese (2 slices premium american cheese)

Totals:
Carbs: 17-9 fiber= 8 net
Calories: 1488
Fat: 114
Protein: 101

Exercise: 1 hour upper body strength training

My exercise plan is going to be - Monday Lower Body, Tuesday Upper Body, Wednesday Step Class, Thursday HIIT, Friday Full Body Strength (PowerPump) We will see how this goes.

I am back in ketosis! Yay! I was knocked out by the pizza that somehow jumped into my mouth last Sunday. I have a party to go to the first weekend in August so I am going to stay on plan until then, my little mini goal. I would really like to get below 190 for the party but I don't know if it is doable.

Yay I got rid of that water weight from my indiscretions last weekend. Back to 195.6. Hopefully weigh in on Monday will be even lower! I am being good about staying away from sf chocolates and ice creams and I think I have to treat those as very special treats. Definitely not an every day thing. I did that in the beginning and was successful, that is just the way it needs to be! OK so 5.7 more pound by August 1st. Lets do it!

I just had a good breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs mixed with bacon and cheese. Also had my coffee and mixed some coconut oil in. I am kinda skeptical about the coconut oil. Do I really benefit from it or am I adding unnecessary calories?

So I had one of those days today that I just wanted to eat and eat and eat. I made myself stick to my eating plan though and am I happy I did. Here is today's menu:

B: 2 eggs scrambled with bacon and 1 slice american cheese, coffee with 1 tbsp cream and davincis
L: 1 oopsie with roast beef, cream cheese and 1 slice of muenster melted
D: 1.5 pork chops, breaded in parm chese with sauteed mushroom sauce
S: One minute muffin, One Diet Soda, SF Jello

Totals:
Carbs: 18-9 fiber= 9 net
Calories: 1665
Fat: 123
Protein: 123

Exercise: 60 min step class

I could SO eat more right now but I am not gonna do it! I don't know why I was so hungry today. My ketosis stick was nice and purple after dinner, thats cool.

OH I just realized I didn't journal yesterday...whoops. Here was yesterday's (Thursday) menu:

B: 3 egg egg cream
L: Cobb Salad with ranch dressing
D: Gorgonzola stuffed Chicken Breast wrapped in Bacon
S: Roast Beef & Cheese, Cheese stick, pepperoni

My weight is up a little today so I think I had too much pepperoni late last night. At least it is probably just the salt, I know I am still in ketosis.

Tomorrow we are going to the Tampa Bay Flugtag which should be fun but it is going to be really hard to stay OP. I know I want to drink with everyone. Hmm I will just try to do so in moderation. The website says you can't bring in any food but what if I just claim I am diabetic or something? I dunno...

OK it is really hard to keep up with journaling every day, esp. on the weekends! Even with Flugtag this weekend and some Indian food I am down. Woohoo! I am now at 193.4. so 3.5 pounds in a week and a half, can it be done? My body doesn't like giving up the pounds so we will see but I think if I am super strict I can do it.

Yesterday's menu:

B: Cheeseburger Pie, Coffee w/ hc and davincis
L: Ruby Tuesday salad bar w/ Ranch dressing
D: Chicken breast stuffed with swiss cheese and ham and topped with parm cheese

I have definitely noticed that if I keep my calories below 1600 I lose so I guess I just have to do that. It sucks because part of the appeal of Atkins is no calorie counting but oh well. I also wonder if perhaps it isn't the calories but the lower carb count. I have been around 10 net carbs a day. Hmmm now I wonder which it is...
