ArmyWife88's Journal

Hi Everyone!
Welcome to my journal.

My name is Christina. I'm 20 years old. I've been married to my hubby since Halloween of 2006. He is a soldier in the Army and we have an almost 3 year old son, Jonathan. I've been heavy my entire life but I'm ready to put a stop to it.

I began LCing in February of 2008 and lost 30lbs in the first few months. Then I fell off the wagon and tried SB. SB was way to flexible for me and I ended up binge eating a lot. I tend to eat my emotions. The months following my SB attempt were very stressful due to our move to Germany. I ate my way through it and I'm now sitting at 250lbs.

As of yesterday I'm re-inducting. I'm going to be posting my menus, weigh-ins, and overall feeling throughout my LC journey. Feel free to pipe in with any advice, tips, or comments.

My Goals

Stay under 20 carbs
Drink at least 100oz of water a day
Go for a half hour walk at least 3 times a week

My ultimate goal is to get to 150lbs and then decide if I should take my weight loss further or not. I would like to acheive this goal by November of 2009. My husband will be home from Iraq shortly after and I'd love to surprise him.

I'm in the gray.

First Day of Induction

It was very hard for me to get back on the wagon this time around. I kept making it through the day and then loading up on carbs at night. I finally said 'I'm going to do it today' and with the support of some fellow LCFs I jumped back on the wagon. It was surprisingly easy once I actually got started.

My Menu

B: 4 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs cooked in the bacon fat
L: Salad w/ tomatoes and Southwestern style chicken pieces; mayo as dressing
S: a piece of cheddar cheese
D: Montreal Chicken, Green beans, and Cauliflour
S: 2 pieces of cheddar cheese

Water was about 130 oz for the day.

Calories were 1,575. 17g of carbs (11 net)

Induction Day 2

I woke up this morning feeling amazing! I don't know why I ever stop LCing. I started to get some withdrawl headaches late in the day, but they weren't too bad. I'm also having a metallic taste in my mouth. It started after I used some new mouthwash so I'm think it might be a reaction between the mouthwash and my tongue ring.

Along with beginning Induction, I also began working on potty training with Jonathan. He's been doing really well. Just a few accidents yesterday and just one so far today.

My Menu

B: 4 slices of bacon, 3 eggs cooked in the Bacon grease
L: 1 1/2 Bubba burgers, 3/4 oz of cheddar cheese,a Bratwurst, and 1 tbsp mustard.
D: Chicken Breast, Broccoli and a salad w/ mayo a a few tomato pieces

Water: Working on my fifth bottle (34oz each)

Calories will be at 2,112 for the day. 11g of carbs total (8 net)

Christina! Came across your journal on my way to update mine and just wanted to pop in and give you some encouragement! Keep drinking that water and these first few days'll be over before you know it. Glad you're already feeling the LC boost, helps a lot, doesn't it

Well today I woke up feeling wonderful. I had my whole Menu planned for the day. Then something came up for Hubby's work and ihad to be out of the house for lunch. So I got a LC tendergrill from BK. On plan. The hardest part of eating on plan today was watching my son suck down his strawberry milkshake, and then trowing away his french fries. Normally I would have ate them on top of what ever I had already eaten.

Then I got invited to dinner at a friend's and declined because I finally restarted Atkins and she was making pasta. She gave me a dirty look and sighed. As far as I'm concerned she can sigh and roll her eyes all she wants. She's a heavier as well (not quite as heavy as me, but definitly not a healthy weight) and she solves her weight probably by restricting her calories down real low and working out for hours on end in the gym. then she stops and gains it all back, I will NOT be like that. She also restricts the amount of food she allows her 1 1/2 year old daughter to eat. This make me so mad. The poor little girl begs everyone for food off their plate and she's the size of a normal child her age. It's not like she's obese or something. It's all because of her mothers fear that she'll become fat. I see a little girl with an eating disorder in her future. Her grandmother is Anorexic so if genes play any role in eating disorders than she's doomed. On the other hand her Mom doesn't make 'real food', She won't go near raw meat and they eat Chicken Nuggets and other processed foods all the time.

We went grocery shopping and I bought Jonny a 'yummy yougurt'. Some German yougurt that comes with MINI M&M's to mix in with the yougurt. We got home and he wanted to eat it while I was making dinner. So I start mixing it up and I took ONe measley MINI M&M and I ate it.

I don't know why I even did it. It was just kind of compulsive. I really didn't even realize until I started chewing and tasted the sweet chocolate in my mouth. I was so disappointed in myself:blush:. But rather than give up and go on a carb binge the rest of the night, I mixed the rest and quickly gave it to Jonny to devour.

Normally, I would have used that MINI M&M as my excuse to binge the rest of the night. Not tonight! No I'll hop back on plan tomorrow, no one more won't hurt. I just moved right along to cooking dinner and staying focused.

My Menu

B: 4 slices bacon, 2 eggs fried in the bacon fat
S: one slice cheddar cheese
L: LC Tendergrill from BK (lettuce, chicken breast, tomato, mayo)
S: sugar Free jello
D: Chicken breast, cauliflower, maybe a salad w/ pepperoni, tomatoes, and mayo on it

water: working on bottle 4 (about 130 oz so far)

My totals today (not counting the mini M&M);
Calories: 1,654
Carbs: 14g (9 net)

UPDATE: Appearently the mini M&M contained one calorie and no carbs LOL Thanks to Kat for that information!!

Well today is Induction Day 5. We were out of the house for lunch so I got a salad from Subway. I only ate at the meat and a few bites of tomato and lettuce and I was done. Truthfully, it wasn't that great and I think I'm in Ketosis because my appetite is quickly diapperaing. I am so surprised at how well Induction is going this time around. I think a lot of it has to do with my motivation to get healthy once and for all. I hope it remains like this. My water intake is lacking today but I will get that up.

Menu for July 12th
B: 2 slices bacn, 2 eggs cooked in the bacon fat
S: Cheddar Cheese
L: salad and a bratwurst w/ a paket of ketchup
S: cheddar cheese
D: 2 chicken breasts, 1/2 C GB

water: 160 oz

Totals: Calories 1,746; Carbs 11g (9 net)

Today's Menu
B: 4 slices bacon, 2 eggs cooked in the bacon fat
L: Picked at a slad from subway
S: brat w/ ketchup and a cheddar cheese
D: 2 chicken breast and 1C. GB

water: 80 oz (so far)

Calories: 1,640; Carbs 17g (13 net)

Okay so today was fun. I got to see what the other wives in the FRG (and fitness group) were like, this was my first time meeting any of them. I walked in the room and was VERY surprised. There was one other lady who was a little heavier and then the rest of the girls were pretty much twigs! One of them was like the size of my left leg. Another one was complaining that since she married her hubby she gained 25lbs and now she sits around 230 (guessing) TOPS. Another one was telling everyone how she wants to weigh 100lbs when her hubby comes back from Iraq. So needless to say I'm the heaviest one there but that's okay with me bacuse I'm doing what I got to do and the trainer seems real nice.

I weighed in at 242lbs which is about 8 lbs lighter (I am using an analog scale until mine gets here, the trainers was digital) than when I started Induction! (weight was taken after breakfast and a bottle of water)

Today we went for a walk (about a mile), then when I got home I did 25 push-ups (girly haha) and 50 crunches.

Here's the menu for today:
B: 2 slices bacon; 2 eggs
L: Subway Club salad w/ tomatoes and light mayo (ate the tomatoes and meat and picked at the lettuce
S: Cheddar cheese
D: Steak w/ mushrooms and onions (was delicious!!)

Water: 156 oz

Something I posted this afternoon in one of the groups:

Just got back form working out a little bit ago and it was awesome! We did 30 minutes of pilates and then 30 minutes of strength. I did okay with the pilates. My form wasn't perfect and I couldn't do all the reps but I could feel it working and I wasn't the worst either! Then we did circuit training. I did awesome! I could do more reps than most of the girls. I now see why they joined a fitness group, in this journey to lose weight I tend to forget Just because you're skinny doesn't mean you are fit. And getting 'fit' isn't just about losing weight (steps off her soap box, those are my inspiring words for the day) They were all very nice and I had a lot of fun getting to know them better. I also found out I can bring Jonny and his DVD player to the gym (in his stroller) and go on the elliptical. SO guess where I'm headed this weekend! Well I've got some house cleaning to do I will be back later ladies!

Well unfortunately I have to start my "cheat-free days" counter over. I was making homemade Tuna Cassarole for supper for Jonny and the neighbors and I had myself about a cup. I used portion control with this one bad meal and it is going to be the only bad thing I eat tonight. My night time snack (if needed) and tomorrow will be right back on plan. I'm also hitting the gym tomorrow morning for an hour on the elliptical. I hope this doesn't show at my weigh in on Monday...

My Menu

B: 4 slices baon, 2 fried eggs
L: cheeseburger w/ mayo and 2 LC hotdogs w/ mustard
D: 1 C. Tuna Cassarole
Calories: 1,796 Carbs: 52g (11% not too bad)
Water: 170 oz
Exercise: none day off

Has anyone else ever felt like a friend of convinence? That's honestly how I feel right now. I hate being used and I will no longer put up with it. Just because I'm not a whiney baby because my husband is at training for two months doesn't mean I love him any less than you do and the fact that I'm a strong independent woman is a pretty lame excuse not to hang out with me. I can hold down the homefront while my husband does his job. I'll save my tears for when I have to worry about his safety and even then I'll put on my big girl panties and a smile and go about my day so my husband's not worrying about me being an emotional wreck while he's gone. I will be strong for my family!

A quote sent to me by my fitness group's personal trainer... She's wonderful!

Things cannot change without understanding.
Being awakened is to find understanding of Self.
When one understands Self, healing begins.

Be Touched. Be Inspired. Be Awakened.

I've been having a lot of trouble staying on plan. It seems as though things in my life are finally beginning to slow down though. Today was my first day back on plan and I did really well. I ate 2,026 calories and 14g of carbs. I drank 4 liters of water.

Good for you! If you stick with it long enough it just becomes "the way you eat" and not "the diet I'm on!" At least that's where I am with it.

Weighed in this morning at 236lbs. I can't believe I'm out of the 240s. and already 1/2 way to the 220s. I haven't weighed 220 since 2006.

Today is day 5 of reinduction. I am still doing well. I really need to incorporate more veggies but I just haven't been up for them lately. I'm inching my way down to the 220s This morning I was down to 235.2 i know I shouldn't weigh everyday but I always do. It keeps me on track watching the scale move downward even if it's only .2lbs I seem to be losing better when I'm not doing pilates so I might cut that out and just return to doing the elliptical.

I've lost 35lbs this year!! I can't believe it. I don't really feel very different except my clothes are baggier.

The hardest thing for me right now is living life as a single parent. I know the Army life has it's benefits but sometimes I wonder if it's really worth all the hassle? Sometimes I wish we were just a normal family. I love the experiences that the Army has given us (I mean who gets to move to Germany at 20?) but at what cost? The cost of being cut off from our family and friends? I know we have internet and phone and webcam and all that happy crap but sometimes you just need to hold your nephews and kiss their little cheeks. You can't do that from across the ocean. The 'honeymoon' phase of living life in another country is wearing off FAST! I'm beginning to get home sick. I cry over nothing, I have to drag myself out of bed in the morning to care for Jonny. I just don't know how much more I can take. One can only bend so far before they break. Ya know? Next thing I know my husband is going to be deployed. Having him at trainning is hard enough, but having to question his safety every night? I don't know if I can handle that on top of everything else. I thought I was strong. I thought I could do this but I guess I can't.

Sometimes I just wish I haden't let him choose this life. I wish I had just put my foot down and said no way. I should have known. I went through this as a child and was miserable whenever my dad left and now I'm putting my own son through that pain.... What kind of mother am I?
