New Beginnings for aka Val

Hello,

I'm starting over today and you know what? So what!

I've lost 30lbs on atkins before and gained every bit back and them some. I'm at a whopping 190lbs! And I know why. CARBS!

So, I need to get my body back today. No special reason exept that I'm 45 yrs old and if I don't lose this now then what's the use later...right? lol

Anyway. I love wine and beer. This is my major downfall. Not that I'm an alcoholic but I love the taste of micro brews and imports and of course the heart healty wine. Yummo!

I'm not going on induction. Forget it! I'm just going to go 20g's of carbs. that's it for now. wine and beer will be worked in when entertaining. That's what I love...entertaining my friends.

I've also started a running program for the past 5 weeks. I'm going on 6 weeks starting tomorrow. Very Addictive. THat's a good thing.

I've been away for a long time due to depression. Some of you that read my first journal know that I lost my previous husband from lung cancer. That was years ago but I guess it just stayed with me all these years. I keep re-living it over and over, day after day. After a while it starts affecting your health. I'm on anti-depressants now. The fat pill as I like to call it. I don't think it makes you fat tho. I honestly think it makes you crave carbs more than anything.

But anyway.... I'm back for now. I'm not making goals as these always seem to lead me to dissappointment.

I'm off to make shishcabobs(?). yummo!

I bought a rotsserie chicken yesterday. So today I packed some chicken along with a veggie salad with a small amount of shredded cheese. I also packed left over egg salad (only about 2 TBLS. for a small snack)

I had a little of the chicken for breakfast and a cup of coffee.

I'm not sure what's for dinner. I'm sure I'll figure out what I'm hungry for when the time comes.

Today is a running day for me. I've only been doing this for the past 5 weeks. I'm a beginner so I run walk. I only do it for 20mins. When I first started this I ran for 1 min and walked for 1 min for the first week. I'm on week number 6 now. Today I'll run for 6 mins and walk for 1 min for 20 mins. It's tough. As the mins go up with the running I wonder if I'll be able to complete the week. I always seem to finish.

Anyway... Today I start with 6mins Run time and 1 min of walking in between.

I do have a goal for this. I'm going to participate in the "Run for the Cure" 5K run in September 2008. Can I do it? We'll see

Today I had a chicken leg and coffee for breakfast.
For lunch I have a veggie salad with 2 tsp. of mayo and 1oz. of chedder cheese.
Snack- hardboiled egg.
Water water water. (UGH…not lovin' it)
Dinner- Don't know yet.

*Yesterday's dinner was just roasted chicken.

Yesterday's run/walk was VERY HARD. My legs ached all night. I didn't sleep well and my DH's snoring didn't help either.

My friend gave me a bottle of wine to try yesterday. As much as I wanted to try it I didn't. No sense in opening a whole bottle of wine if you're the only one drinking it. But it was very tempting.

I stayed on plan yesterday to the tee. Let's hope today goes just as well.

I blew it.

I didn't mean to? It just happened?

It started with that bottle of wine my friend gave me. I decided I would give it a taste. And I was good with just one small glass. But then friends came over and tasted the wine too. We ran out. We ran out and got another bottle. We got hungry. We grilled hambergers. I ate 2. With the buns! I didn't even realize I was eating the buns! Okay... I'm a knob. Time to move on and start over again.

Maybe not having alcohol is a good thing. I need to stop it. At least till I get back accustomed to eating LC.

Gotta go to work. Talk more later.

You can say that again! I'm social and we like to have drinks. This will be a big hurtle for me.

Today I went to work feeling real crappy. I'm really tired now. I guess this is what most call a hang over.

I've been drinking lots of water and eating whatever. I'm off track already.

I was so tired I didn't even work out. Just didn't have the strength.

I've made up my mind that there is a new day coming tomorrow. All will be fine and I'll get right back on track as if nothing happened.

okay... I'm struggling. I do very well with all this while I'm at work. I come home and BAM! There it is.... wine. After a hard and stressful day all I want is a glass.

What's a glass? A glass would be okay. But then.... that turns into a second glass. That second glass is what gets me into trouble because then I'm ready to eat ANYTHING!!!!

My menu for yesterday was this:

All food was on plan until after 3:00pm.
After 3pm- WINE, WINE, WINE! Friends came over to see if I wanted to get a margarita... Of course I do! I love being with my friends!
3 maragritas later and 2 baskets of chips I'm done.
YIKES!!!

Today will be better.

Today I did very well and stayed on plan. Other than the fact I had 2 glasses of wine.
I rode my bike today for 1.5 hours (15 miles). Felt real good to be outside again. I'm going to take up running and am signing up for the "Run for the cure" 5k in september so I'm going to start training for that. Tomorrow. lol. I hope people don't mind seeing a fat girl try to run. hahaha!!! Tomorrow I'll be wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses so no one recognizes me. I don't care. I'm doing it.

I just wanted to pop in to say hello and offer my support.

It's nice to see you--I have thought about you often.

FWIW, I struggle with the EXACT same thing you do--I LOVE MY DRINKIES! Unfortunately, they make me fall off track too...

I had to come to the sad realization that if I wanted to keep the weight off, I just couldn't drink. What worked for me, is just staying away from beer when we're not socializing. Now, when I *do* decide to go out and knock a few down, I COMPLETELY indulge and jump RIGHT back on the bandwagon the next day.

Sucks, doesn't it? Such a simple thing we enjoy that we just can't partake in without consequence....

I am sorry to hear about your depression, but happy to hear you're working on bringing yourself out of it.

Hang tough sister.

Krissy and big black Jetta! I still use your kiesh(?) recipe. mmmmmm so good.

I've been away too long.

It feels great to workout again! I went for my little walk/run (I'm a beginner). Worked up a great sweat. Man that felt good!

This week I will be walking fast for 6 mins and jogging for 1 min x 3. I will do 3 sessions this week. In between sessions I'll either ride my bike or walk for 30 mins.

Stayed on plan today very well. Except for this small glass of wine sitting here beside me at my desk.

I'm thankful and greatful today for my health.

Thanks! I am happy! I've been living in the past and so sad for so long. I've been through the death. I've been through the burial. It's time for the resurrection!

The past 2 years have been very tough for me. I've been grieving alone. All by myself. This is not healthy.

I'm still dealing with this alone. But at least I'm talking to someone (professional). Getting it out helps TONS! The meds help too.

Did great today. Still had that glass of wine. Oh well... One thing and one day at a time.

I'm thankful and greatful today because I have a job.

sweetie. you sound like you're on the up & up! i'm glad you still use my QUICHE recipe, i found a new low-carb favorite breakfast: cheeseburger quiche. its a lindasue recipe and it's fab.u.lous!!

i worked on doing the couch to 5K program and it's very helpful to increase your running stamina. when i treadmill i'm like you, do a fast walk/run a lap/walk/run... as long as you're sweating, you're doing good.

Krissy thanks for the tip on the couch to 5K. I joined up!

Today went really well food wise. I'm also having my glass of wine today. BUT... I've watered it down with club soda. Wine Spritzer! Less carbs & calories this way. Believe it or not it's still pretty good!

I went for my walk/run today. It was wonderful! I love breathing hard and sweating!

I may ride my bike tomorrow if it's nice out.

Today I'm thankful and grateful that I don't have to go to work for the next 4 days!!!! Yipppeeee!!!!

I did great yesterday morning-afternoon and part of the evening. I made the huge mistake of waiting too late to eat dinner. It was almost 8pm. So needless to say I ate crap food.

Today is a new day. It's beautiful outside! I think I'll go for a bike ride.

I'm off work today and have a lots of housework to catch up on. I'll be back later.

Krissy, I also subscribed to the podcast "Couch to 5K" and downloaded it to my ipod. It's sooo cool! I'm already enjoying it.

I had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We grilled bison bugers and bison brats. We had salad. Baked Beans. And of course my all time favorite...Beer. Yup... Beer. We had lots of fun, good food, and good company.

This week I'm going to stop the booze. It's not really something I have to have on a daily basis. It also causes me to let my guard down to unwanted foods and over eating. I've also discovered Egg Creams. Wow! Talk about a quick breakfast when you're in a hurry. Yummo!

Today I'm thankful and grateful for my Husband.

The past 2 days I've stayed OP with NO Drinks! I've decided to do Induction after all because it's very obvious to me now that I need to get off carbs and sugar. I'm having too many cravings. So today is a new day!

Induction day 3.

Yesterday I did my C2-5K wk1/repeated for my workout

Yesterday's Menu:

BREAKFAST:
1 hardboiled egg
2 slices shaved deli ham
2 cups coffee w/lite creamer & Splenda

LUNCH:
1 salad w/let,tom,onion,green bell pepper,cheese,mayo
roasted chicken breast (no skin)
1 TAB

DINNER:
Pork loin
1 cup salad w/let,tom,onions,green pep,cheese,mayo

SNACK:
1 hardboiled egg
2 slices of shaved deli ham

CARBS: 22

I will try to get on her today and post my menu for today.

Good Morning all!

I have to confess. Last night after I posted my menu I got a phone call and didn't realize it but I was EATING while on the phone!

Good news it it was a couple of Hamburger patty's. Not big ones. So my carbs are still below 20. So I'm still good just guilty because it was not nessasary and I really wasn't hungry.

This is also a bad habit of mine. Feeling the need to eat when on the phone. I need to stay out of the kitchen during these times.

Other than that I'm okay.

As for today. I will be doing my C2-5K (hopefully). I have a hair appointment this afternoon after work and I'm not sure I want to go sweat with my new doo. If not today then tomorrow for sure.

Today will be day 4 on Induction. All cravings have left me at this point including the need for alcohol. I'm real happy about that.

I've been peaking on the scale lately. I just feel the need to do this. Not sure why. When I started I was 190. I'm down 3lbs. But it doesn't count until Monday so I won't be recording it until then.

I will record my menu later when I know what it is.
