The point is, I am making this too damn difficult!

Good job both of you though.

Hey Daisy! Yah, that's a BIG 10-4!

My hubby can lose 5 lbs just by skipping lunch for a day or two!

and he's already thin/muscular and doesn't need to lose a damn pound!
(and tells me I don't need to either; tho sweet, does NOT help me stay focused on what I need to DO!)
Last night he says to me: "you're looking skinny!"
and this is part of how I got fat, everyone saying how skinny I *was* and that it would be OK for me to eat "this or that"! when I stopped being skinny, I kept eating "this or that", and then before I knew it, I was FAT.

And of course, I do NOT look skinny nekkid! (yet)

and...this is silly, but when I *was* skinny (2005-2007) ~ he used to like to come behind me and pick me up in a hard hug, and say how "light" I was!! I am 5'8" *not* a small person by any stretch of the imagination (he's only 5' 11" and doesn't weigh much more than me!) so this is amazing and...I miss that... I'm never gonna be THAT skinny again, but hoping I can get close enuf!

HIDEOUS?? Hey, whaddya sayin'? I've been WORKING OUT!!
(to Cory Everson; Get Hard!)
I AM BUFFED ~ LOOK at those MUSCLES!!

PS: per Barry Groves (Atkins sans Induction)
if you keep your daily carbs at 50-60 (and very high fat) ~
you should NOT ever need to be hungry or fast while you lose weight...
I am going to do the IFing to jump start myself along with high fat and low carbs 50-55 like your example.

Then I will switch over entirely to a low carb day and do that for at least 6 weeks (Twyla's suggestion). Then I'll tweak.

I am setting up my new gym in DBF's basement (we're getting married and remodeling his house) so I have a good place to work out. I started last night with 20 minutes of a DVD that kicks my butt. Callanetics is next (Saturday morning) I swear to all that is good.

Ya'll have my permission to kick my @ss if I don't live up to my end - by just sitting on my end.

today has been jam-packed non-stop busy from dawn to dusk so I never had a chance to exercise although I've been "on the go" all day!

so instead of a "rest day" on Sunday, it will be an exercise day to make-up for today.

today's menu:
(no time to calculate macros right now)

B: 1-minute flaxseed muffin + cappuccino w/ 1/4 cup half & half

L: 6 oz grassfed hamburger w/ 1 oz chipotle cheddar + 1.5 oz tiger stripe tomatoes

S: 3 oz fuji apple (from our tree!)

D: wild alaskan sockeye salmon + butter lettuce salad w/ 3 oz cherry tomatoes & 1 oz feta

S: 1 oz raspberries; 2 oz strawberries; 1 oz blueberries w/ 1 Tbsp fage greek yogurt

Water: LOTS!

Wine: couple glasses

Exercise: see above!

- Just a heads up on the recipe you posted for pb cups cause I know you are into organic and whole foods. According to Mary Enig & Sally Fallon powdered milks have damaged cholesterol from the processing and they are often added back to 2% or skim milks and thats why they advise raw or organic milk. Do a search here for Dexmis PB cups-its a good recipe.

When I was a SAHM a million years ago I had a vegi garden. I canned all my own stuff. Those were good days. We ate so healthy! Fresh stuff all season long and my delicious canned stuff during the long winter. I need to investigate organic much more closely.

check-it out!
My sister lives up north from the cities. I should ask her if she buys grass fed beef. She has been getting more and more into organic stuff to help her deal with health issues.

Thanks HB! You kick!

all you ever wanted to know and MORE re: Lymphedema! :)

Initially triggered by the removal of 7 pelvic lymph nodes during ovarian cancer debulking surgery July 2005.

Lymphedema: Causes - MayoClinic.com

Now triggered by all sorts of things; heat; exercise; standing in the shower; taking a bath; being on my feet too long; sitting too long; salty foods; stress; breathing - you name it, it is triggered. I hate hate hate it - my legs were my BEST feature before Lymphedema. Now my abdominal area is always distended, I have to wear tight bike shorts under my clothes to keep from looking preggers; my left knee/thigh swell at the drop of a hat; and my right ankle is frequently a "kankle"

I know that I am LUCKY to be ALIVE and I try to look at Lymphedema as a daily reminder of ALL that I survived; against all odds.

I have to wear a special compression stocking all day;every day:

And every day I must climb in here for an hour:

And I usually sleep in this leg thingy:
Telesto Medtech • ERX and ERX Sport edema reduction systems
(I have an abdominal piece too, looks like a black diaper; makes me look like Baby Huey, very sexy ~ NOT!)

If I don't do ALL of this regularly, I swell up like a freaking tick.
Sometimes I swell up regardless of what I do; don't do

Oh and at least once a month, I go see this Therapist:
Thrive/Focus on Healing

Lymphedema cannot be cured. However, with proper care and treatment, the affected limb can be restored to a normal size and shape. In addition, Lymphedema can be treated and controlled so that it does not progress further.

If left untreated, Lymphedema can lead to increased swelling and a hardening of the tissue, resulting in decreased function and mobility in the affected limb. It can also lead to chronic infections and other illnesses.

Fun, huh?

oh wow, thanks Daisy! you are sweet. I don't know if I deserve those kind words, but I sure appreciate them! sometimes it helps me to just write about "stuff" ~ rather than complain about it. it's gonna come out one way or another, might as well be in a positive manner!

We will never forget.

This day each year is always very surreal for me. It's a day that makes me very sad; and also very mad.

When I first heard the news on that fateful day, 7 years ago today (can it really be that long?) I was on my morning commute train to San Francisco. I was working for a German investment firm as a Scheduling & Communications Coordinator. The commute train is very professional; and very impersonal. no one interacts; speaks or makes eye contact.

Except on this day.

Everyone was crying & hugging. I didn't understand.
I asked why everyone was crying. They told me.
It did not compute. I still didn't understand. Not fully.

My train arrived in the Embarcadero Station.
On a busy weekday morning, the downtown financial district was a ghost town.

It was as if an unspeakable nuclear event had happened.
it felt just like the day of the Rodney King riots.
Way too quiet.
I was scared.

I went to my 42 story building and rode the elevator to the 30th floor.
security told me to GET OUT and GO HOME because there was another plane headed toward San Francisco!
(that plane ultimately crashed in Pennsylvania)
In the weeks following, there were two bomb threats to our building and we were evacuated both times.

Now along with everyone else, I was stunned and numb and scared and frantic and crying.,
Somehow I made it home, don't even remember it, but I went home and turned on CNN.
That's when the 2nd plane hit; and that's when my boss' wife called me frantic and crying.

The CEO of our firm + my boss were both in Germany, I spent the next 3 days literally working around the clock trying to get them home as quickly as possible. They were the first Americans allowed to depart the hotel and board on an international flight.

All I really remember about that whole week, is watching CNN 24/7 and being on the phone with every airline under the sun. I don't' remember sleeping or eating or talking to anyone except the airlines frantically looking for a route to get my people home. It felt so urgent. My boss' wife would call me and we would talk for hours; she was so nervous with two small children at home, and her husband so far away.

What made matters worse, was that their neighbor's son was presumed to have been in the collapse of the North Tower. So this was on her mind and she just wanted her husband home. (later we learned that sadly, the presumption was correct).

Our SF equity traders were actually on the phone with some of the JP Morgan traders as their building collapsed. They heard the screams first hand. I cannot imagine hearing that kind of horror.

One of my friends was schedule to be married on 9/29/01. She cautiously proceeded with the wedding, and it was the most intimate wedding I can remember in a very long time. Emotions were so freely shared and it was a very beautiful and memorable celebration.

But I felt a black cloud approaching and told my hubby that I felt that I would be losing my job upon returning from the wedding in Oregon.

I was right.

Our firm was already imploding due several extenuating economic factors and I'd already survived several rounds of layoffs. I did not survive the final round and was laid-off on October 1st, 2001.

I was numb and felt so lost and I felt like the world was ending.

I floated for several months until I landed a temp job in Dec; a crappy perm job in Jan; and finally my current nonprofit job in March 2002. I had no desire to return to the corporate world; my priorities had changed, the whole world seemed changed; somehow different.

9/11 makes me mad because, for a brief moment, we had the empathy of the whole world in the palm of our hands. The whole world was watching to see how America would react. We could have asked anything of anyone. We could have negotiated almost anything.

But we all know what happened. Instead of taking the high road and seizing the opportunity to help the world find peace through compassion, we did exactly the opposite.

We let that amazing opportunity slip right though our fingers and we dropped the ball so hard that it smashed into a million pieces and can never be repaired.

This day is so sad to me; on so many levels. The loss of over 3000 lives at the WTC + the loss of a golden opportunity that REAL leaders would have seized to attempt REAL world peace instead of acting on a selfish, greedy agenda that would irreparably damage our Nation for decades to come.

Imagine the Tribute to the lives lost, if America had responded with Peace and Dignity instead of Lies and War.

Just read about lymphedema. What an ordeal you have to go through. But, the good news is that you're alive to go through it.

Your attitude inspires me; you made it through some awful times and I will also.

I'm NOT looking forward to weigh-in day tomorrow
I weigh MORE than I did 2 weeks ago!!
I was at 165 last Monday and at 163 today.
Still 8 lbs away from 155 (my Oct 1 goal).

OK, I'm on Induction today!
(20 carbs or less per day)

I'm keeping it SIMPLE; this is my plan EVERY DAY 9/15-9/30:

M1: 1-minute flax muffin & coffee

~ do back exercises & stretches

M2: 2-eggs scrambled w/ spinach; red onion; cheese & 3 slices bacon

~ do daily exercise (Callan or HIIT or Cory!)

M3: Cobb Salad

~ dog romp

M4: protein (beef; chicken; turkey; fish) + veggie (usually a salad)

Snacks will be:
cream cheese muffins or cream cheese clouds or cream cheese dessert square (there's a theme here!) or 1-egg Egg Cream or any other ideas for "healthy sweets"??

I'm going to limit my blog time to approx 1 -hour per day
NO wine Sunday thru Thursday; OK on Friday/Saturday ONLY.
aiming for 100 oz of water daily + take all AM/PM supplements.
strength training; HITT; Callan 3x's each this week + ab work

well I guess I won't be eating as much as I originally posted; I skipped the scrambled eggs today (thank gawd) and my calories were still a tad high! but carbs OK so I'm not going to sweat it (too much); but will definitely tweak my menu for the remainder of the week and do a better job at keeping calories at 1600-1800. HOW do the rest of you eat so dang little?? I felt like I was barely eating today and racked up over 2000 calories!!

AM: ACV + all supplements taken

M1: 1-minute flax muffin & coffee w/ 2 Tbsp HWC

S1: HB egg

S2: 1 cream cheese cloud

M2: Cobb Salad (lettuce; tomato; HB egg; uncured pastrami; bacon bits; cheese)

M3: HOT chicken breast tenders + lettuce/tomato/avocado salad w/ Caesar dressing

S3: 1 cream cheese cloud

PM: ACV + all supplements taken

calories 2096..........fiber 24.7..........fat 162.1..........protein 135.1..........net carbs 20.6
.................................................. .....70%......................26%................. .......4%

Water: 104 oz
Wine None
Exercise: None (Monday is "rest day")

HB, I have thought this very same thing SO MANY times in my journey. I always felt like I had to work so much harder at controlling cals than the avg person.

Quick peek at your food, and my guess would be your fat grams for yesterday were a bit high. That's usu what throws the cals over the top, more fat. Not knocking fat and its benefits, just saying. Afterall, you ARE doing induction and shooting for ketosis, and it's fat that's gonna put you there, so I wouldn't worry about cals for a few days till ya sink down in the comforts of ketosis.... you can go auto pilot then.

Hang in there! Have a great day.

thanks T!
nice to see you; where ya been?
yeah, those CCC's got me!
was a little more careful today + not as much hunger.
like you said: sinking into the comforts of ketosis!

I'm giving basic Atkins another shot because:

1 - It was successful for me in March/April, and in fact, the only real weight I've lost on this Journey;
2 - The Keto w/ ReFeeds plan just doesn't seem to be the "right fit" for me. Tried it twice (May/Aug);
3 - I don't need "planned" ReFeeds; I have enough "unplanned" ReFeeds! Part of My Life. Not gonna change.
4 - I really don't want to complicate my life with Carb Cycling (not right now);
5 - I actually really enjoy eating this way, nice & simple, and satisfying;
6 - My metabolism isn't "broken"; so no need to try to "repair" it w/ ReFeeds;
7 - I want to do Induction for 2 weeks or 2 months (not sure yet); then I want to climb the Carb Ladder. I won't know if Atkins works for me or not unless I JUST DO IT (correctly). I think I jumped ship way too fast looking for a miracle (and a way to keep my whole wheat pizza on Friday nights...KWIM?) Instead, I've just been shooting myself in the foot. Really wish I'd just stuck w/ basic Atkins; I'd probably be at goal by now.

Oh well...ANYWAY!!!!!

Tuesday's Report:

AM: 2 tsp ACV; 1 tsp erythritol; 10 drops Lymphomyosot + all supplements taken

M1: 1 egg EC w/ coffee; psyllium; erythritol; SF french vanilla Torani syrup

M2: 3 eggs scrambled w/ spinach; red onion; sharp cheddar; bacon + LC tortilla

S1: 1 cream cheese cloud + iced coffee w/ 1/4 cup half & half; SF Kahlua DaVinci

M3: 4 oz silver coho salmon + caesar salad (romaine; tomato; avocado; calamata olives; bacon bits)

S2: 1 cream cheese cloud

PM: 2 tsp ACV; 1 tsp erythritol; 10 drops Lymphomyosot

calories 1714..........fiber 23.7..........fat 142.1..........protein 92.75..........net carbs 22
.................................................. .....74%......................21%................. ......5%

Water: 96 oz
Wine: None
Exercise: 30 minutes HIIT elliptical
