Yay! Now you can be a wino too!

Cause we don't use those things ~ no need since there's rarely any leftover wine around here!

What I DO like to use is a decanter ~ pour the bottle in there and let it "breathe" for an hour ~ makes a world of difference on reds, esp cab sav.

TODAY is D-Day for me (again)
10/22 ~ it's back in the saddle for me!

Back to stricter LC + 100 oz of water + exercise daily!
The "vacation" is over ~ gotta get back in the groove.

WHY is it that every time I hit a new low on the scale ~
I subconsciously decide that it's OK to overeat ??
WHY do I keep sabotaging myself like that ??

I had a pretty high carb day yesterday:
Grapenuts & Almond Milk for breaky; Pad Thai for Lunch; Halloween Candy for Dinner!
Yup.
See! That's what happens when I go to the office; I eat freaking candy !!
Dontcha just hate those co-workers that keep chocolate at their desks ??
They don't even eat any of it themselves!! HOW do they do that??

Yesterday morning before I left for work I had an Amazon shopping spree!

I got 4 books:

"Crack the Fat-Loss Code: Outsmart Your Metabolism and Conquer the Diet Plateau" ~ Wendy Chant
"Making the Cut: The 30-Day Diet and Fitness Plan for the Strongest, Sexiest You" ~ Jillian Michaels
"Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes" ~ Teresa Tapp
"Dr. Perricone's 7 Secrets to Beauty, Health, and Longevity: The Miracle of Cellular Rejuvenation"
(the purchase of the last 2 books allows me 2 free T-Tapp DVD’s + a bunch of other freebies – yay!)

and 2 DVD's:

"Jillian Michaels - 30 Day Shred"
"Jillian Michaels for Beginners - Frontside / Backside"

Now that I’m down approx 15-20 lbs ~
I'm getting SERIOUS about shaping up & shedding the last 10-15 lbs!!!!!!!!!!

I would say that without a doubt, it's the support of all of you wonderful women here at LCF. It has made ALL the difference for me this time.

I am not proud that it's taking me so long to lose 30 lbs; I see tons of women on these boards doing much better at this weight loss & exercise thing than me; but I am not giving up and that is huge for me. Before 3/24/08, I always gave up on the WOE Du Jour after a day, a week or a month!

Plus my exercise MO has always been 6 months "on" and 6 months "off". Why? Mostly procrastination. So stupid, really.

BOTH! and that is exactly what has happened with me. I stopped tracking & planning. "winging it" has gotten me off track and into trouble. I'm just not "there yet".

So as of TODAY, it is back to tracking macros & meal planning. I did OK yesterday; but I will do BETTER today. I am still halfway to goal and I am NOT gonna stop or give up now! I want to see just how healthy I can get ME and my body to be physically & mentally & emotionally & spiritually!

It's the only thing that will save me from my woes: Becoming the best ME that I can possibly BE!

Nope, I suck!

My butt is awaiting your kicking!
(If I'm not fully "accountable" by Monday)

Seriously, I just re-started tracking macros (on Thursday) and as expected, it's really helping me to feel "more in control" of things...KWIM?

And up until Thursday, except for our camping trip (lots of exercise & lots of water) ~ water & exercise had both been in dire need of some improvement

But I'm back in the saddle again!

Yesterday’s Menu ~ Day 1
3-Day Egg & Meat & Wine Fast!

B: 3 scrambled eggs & 3 slices uncured bacon
L: 2 egg Egg Cream Frappuccino
D: 1 HB egg + 5 slices summer sausage * + 1 glass white wine
Water: maybe 40 oz (not enough)
Exercise: none (too tired)

I'm down 2 lbs since yesterday (159 to 157)

I was at 155 at the beginning of Oct. But I floated back up to 162 and now back down to 157 ~ I've found the up/down thing happens before I stabilize at the next "low" so it doesn't bother me (much!) anymore.

Ah yes, the very controversial “Egg Fast” -- there are no hard & fast rules -- but it's not meant to be long-term -- just a short-term "fast" with eggs as the primary source of protein and NO veggies/fruits/grains + very minimal dairy. That's really it in a nutshell. I’m using as a kick start while I decide how to best proceed to get the most “bang for the buck” over the next 6 weeks. I’d really like to hit 150 by Dec 1. (145 would be a happy miracle!)

* yeah, um, about that summer sausage, well apparently I forgot that I left that "yard of beef" (actually it's more like 18 inches) out on the kitchen counter and this morning ALL that is left is half of the plastic wrap ~ NONE of the beef!!!!! I have 4 dogs and 1 cat ~ but I know WHO is to blame! When I walked into the kitchen this morning and exclaimed "Oh My Gawd!" the guilty party turned and left the building immediately (he flew though the doggy door)!!!!!

Oct 2008 ~ Camping @ Cache Creek, CA

OK, here we go! First we have the 3 Shelties (mini-Collies):

Sunny (my crippled, stubborn & determined sweet old lady in the buggy)
Symphony (oh she's such a princess! ~ old female in front of buggy!)
Zeus (young male ~ happiest & sweetest & fluffiest dog of all)
+
Murphy (young male ~ super smart black & white border collie)
Wolfie (14 year old cat w/ heart of gold & truckload of patience)

Wolfie is fearless around the dogs & keeps 'em in line! I bottle-fed Wolfie & his 2 siblings (I placed them with friends); found them abandoned on a sidewalk when they were only 3 weeks old; so Wolfie REALLY thinks I am his mama and he is sooooo imprinted on me ~ I it! ALL my dogs are rescues; they are gorgeous but they are all rescues.

My dawgs & kitty & hubby are the apples of my eye & the loves of my life!

oh yeah that's me in the back; this was our camping trip weekend before last. I will get some more photos up soon (once I get them all uploaded to an online photo album) kind of a pain in the butt cause I have to reduce the size on all of them as they are too big to upload to Picasa (high resolution digital camera) I keep telling hubby I don't want or need fancy ~ I prefer simple!

TODAY is my 17th Wedding Anniversary !!

we're both working today (no rest for the wicked) PLUS hubby doesn't feel well

our camping trip the w/e before last, was our actual anniversary gift/celebration ~ we decided to do it early 'cause:

1 - the weather was a lot better then (sunny & warm!), than it is this w/e (kinda rainy & overcast).

2 - our best friends are in town (from Hawaii) so we're hosting a party here tomorrow night.

it's kinda beyond crazy today. muy loco! ay ay ay! I'm trying to work; clean house; post; bathe & brush dogs; deal with an elderly sick dog; get the other dogs out for a romp; do laundry & dishes; run errands; paint the kitchen & utility room; plus a myriad of other stuff all simultaneously -- oh and now I gotta go pick-up my friend from the doctor -- I dropped her off this AM for a procedure...AND get the hacienda shipshape for the ParTee tomorrow! oh and I'm trying to read enough of Jillian Michaels "Making The Cut" 30-Day Diet & Fitness Plan, at least enuf to get me started on Monday, 11/3 'cause I wanna be "cut" by my Hawaii trip on 12/4 !!

Calgon!!!!!!!!

Oh but I Halloween!

it's the night when the walls between the spirit worlds grown thin...

later taters!

gotta go get the pooches into their costumes!

my 3 little shelties = The 3 Little Pigs

my border collie = The Big Bad Wolf!

I had a a fabulous w/e ~
a wonderful Halloween w/ hubby & furry babies (photos forthcoming)
and a house full of friends yesterday from 10am to 10pm ... a blast!

LOTS of FUN for sure ~ but today I feel like I've been hit by a truck.
Thank Gawd for "fall back" and the much needed extra hour of sleep!

It was an off-plan w/e so now it's time to pay the piper and get back on track.
I'm only cheating myself; this I know.

my PRIORITIES for November are clean nutritious eating & exercise!

I can do this; I know that I can.

Um, well -- realizing it's a BIG Secret who I was voting for

I didn't dare hope OR expect anything -- (too many stolen elections).

BUT

I am absolutely giddy w/ glee today !!!!!

I Obama !! Long live Obama !!

I just wanna shout it from the rooftops !!!!!

I watched his speech 3 x's last night.
(that man makes me SWOON )

I could not stop the flow of HAPPY TEARS of relief & excitement !!

and the BONUS is:
the rest of the world is celebrating right along with us AND feels that AMERICA (and democracy) IS BACK !!

and my own belief in democracy has been restored.
what a momentous evening. anything seems possible.

!!!!! YES WE CAN !!!!!

It ain't gonna be all wine & roses tho.
There's a LOT of work to be done.
And we ALL have to do our part.

OK, that's as political as I get. LOL

my macro goals for next week are the same as last week:
to cap my daily calories at 1600 & cap my carbs at 30-50.
(except Friday's; keep it low during the day for pizza night)

so I did OK every day last week except Tuesday & Saturday...
(my calories were too high on both days)

next week will be better; much better!

What we weigh is the result of a meal, a day, a week, a month, a year of choices....

update re: me :)

R U ready for this?? my exercise schedule for the week!!

But first, a confession, until Thursday of last week, I really haven't exercised since mid-Sept (when my chiropractor & oncologist both advised me to stop exercising)!

I could have started back 2 weeks ago; but I didn't.
I was out of the groove + I'm such a terrible procrastinator!

FYI: that stupid MRI didn't show a freaking thing! (it took forever to get because they "lost" my paperwork!) In fact, the MRI shows that the compression fracture is NOT "remarkable" (medical lingo for "not that bad") ~ so I'm like, gee, thanks for the emotionally exhausting wild goose chase of chasing down bone cancer via bone density test & bone scan INSTEAD of just ordering the MRI (FIRST) which is what me/my chiropractor asked for in the first place! Both my primary & oncologist pushed back on my request for the MRI. Next time I'm pushing right back (as I usually do). Geez! Oh well, at least I know that 3 years post-chemo; post hysterectomy & surgically induced menopause, I still got "good bones" and NO osteoporosis whatsoever!

I'm still taking ONE pain pill each day (I wake up every morning in pretty excruciating lower back pain) but I'm maintaining OK on that ONE pain pill per day. The pain seems to be subsiding day by day, so I really think my back issue is exactly what my oncologist insisted that it could NOT be: A very bad fall that I took in an icy parking lot (in Alaska) a few years ago was simply aggravated by me carrying Sunny around everywhere in July/Aug. (she's my 30-pound sick & elderly dog; the one in the doggy stroller in the camping photos). My oncologist insisted (thrice) that the compression fracture could NOT be caused by "injury"; that it ONLY happened via severe osteoporosis or bone cancer ~ (that's what Web MD said too) ~ well, I guess I showed her! So I'm doing the back exercises prescribed by my chiropractor AND working to strengthen my abs...

AND I'm finally ramping back up on my Exercise Schedule!

M/W/F: AM JM's Shred (20) + Cory Everson Arms (30) / PM Callan Quick Stomach (20) + HIIT Elliptical (20)

T/R/Sat: AM Callanetics 10/10 (60) / PM Callanetics Quick Stomach (20) + SS Elliptical (30)

Sunday: REST

And every day at lunchtime (I started this last week) ~
I take the Zeus & Murphy & Symphony on an hour hike at Briones (60) !!
(Murphy fetches; Zeus frollicks; Symphony lollygags & gets "dragged"! )

Briones RAWKS ~ we try to go daily each year from Nov to May. It just gets too hot + the dogs get waaay too many stickers (from highly invasive species that we don't want in OUR yard) during the summertime. I Briones so much better than the Dog Park 'cause I get some exercise out of it too! It's a HUGE Regional Park just 10 minutes from here (right by the Ranch where I get my grass-fed beef!) it's called the "secret wilderness" and it's so beautiful and so nice to hike up & down & all around the hills...PLUS there are cows grazing everywhere so there are cow troughs everywhere so I don't have to carry water for the dogs + they love to jump IN the cow trough at the end of our hike, so getting muddy is never a problemo!

HERE IT IS: Briones Regional Park | East Bay Regional Parks

Quite a wild good chase, but glad that the MRI came back unremarkable. Pain isn't unremarkable, but at least you've found a way to deal with it.

You've come a long way!

my macros last week (Nov 10-16)

for last week, I kept calories @ 1500-1700 and net carbs @ 20-45 every day except Tuesday (LCF Dinner) and Friday (Pizza Night) ~ I only tracked through Lunch on those 2 days, so I really don't know where I ended up, but I don't think either day was over 2000 calories or 60 net carbs...

I exercised EVERY DAY last week!

M: JM 30Day Shred + 30min bike
T: 60min dog hike
W: 30min bike
R: JM 30Day Shred
F: JM 30Day Shred + 60min dog hike
S: JM 30Day Shred
S: 8-minute Abs

Hey Everyone! I'm baaaaaaaack!
BUSY day at work, just wanted to pop-in & say Howdy!
(and show-off my grandson's photo)

You know the saying: "When in Rome..."

well, although I did pack lowcarb snacks, and for the most part, ate eggs & meat & veggies ~ I did eat fried catfish; hushpuppies; potato salad; chocolate mousse on Friday night + nachos; 1 slice birthday cake; 3 bites ice cream; 1 cupcake on Saturday at the bday party + Mexican food on Saturday night (tortilla chips; queso flameado; 1 stuffed fried shrimp & 1 Tecate Beer & 1 Top Shelf Margarita!) ~ so I'm up 2 lbs at 157 today ~ but all in all ~ I don't think that's too bad

We had a GRRRRREAT time!! More later...

Totally back on track TODAY! (meat & eggs & caffeine)

Gonna eat CLEAN so I can splurge on Thanksgiving Day!

XO,
HB
