Still tryin' to be unFLABuLess

So here I am again. New day, new journal, same old goal - lose weight. Atkins / low carbing works so well for me, why do I continue to give it up?? Surely I can last two piddly weeks without some sugar??

I have not regained everything I lost last year, but nearly. I have achieved some huge accomplishments in my life the past few months. I want weight loss to be another. Here's hoping!

I've been all over the LCF boards reading, studying, being inspired. I've read some things I think I should do prior to my "day one."

I really liked the idea of preparing to prevent myself from failing by stocking up on appropriate treats / snacks/ desserts. I know for sure that if I say "never" to sweet treats (or any other snacks) that I will not last long. So, I have decided to get some low-carb dessert recipes NOW and do my shopping NOW to have the right "goodies" so I can, indeed, prevent a hard fall off the low-carb wagon.

It amazes me how my weight-loss journey is so much - perhaps ALL - mental.

i know ur pain....just pull ur self right back up when u fall and keep on truckin' it's the only way too fly on plan that is. I know atkins works but it's so easy to stray of the beaten path, just remember we all strugle, and were not perfect or we would'nt be here.

Today has been a day of recipe planning in earnest. Thank you, Linda Sue, for awesome recipes! I am excited to try these new low-carb treats! Yeah, I'm excited about the dinners...but not as much, I have to confess!

I've noticed how grumpy and short-tempered I am with the kids. While some of it is deserved, most of it is not. It's the ugly monster - me - being mad at me. I am promising myself to work on ME. Complete make-over, baby!

Tomorrow I am headed to the grocery store (kids are out for the day) and can focus on preparation for the week. I'm am really concentrating on a sucessful week. Here's hoping!

Reward already planned for the end of the week: complete hair change - color and all! Can't wait!

Erin Go Braugh!

Nic - thanks for the muffin link! Sounds yummy!

I went on my big shopping spree yesterday for my menu this week. So far today I have had coffee and 3 sausages. I'm not giving up coffee and luckily it has never seemed to have been a problem for me. The sausages were yummy. I am going to have an omlete for lunch. I'll be trying one of Linda Sue's recipes for dinner and dessert, as well as Cleo's rolls.

One day at a time...

Fifi~I just found your journal. You did yourself a big favor by planning and shopping for the week. Then you won't get caught without anything to eat. Not planning has been my biggest downfall. Much luck to you in the next couple weeks as you get rid of the sugar cravings and make choices for good health.

Hi Sue - thanks for dropping and giving encouragement!

Yesterday was a low-carb successful day. For dinner I cooked Linda Sue's Green Enchalada Chicken. It was awesome! My kids loved it, too! Very flavorful and very filling.

Today I am having sausages and coffee for breaky, omlette for lunch, water, of course, and dinner will be Linda Sue's Korean chicken and her cream cheese balls! She said they taste like cheesecake...oh my!

Have not gotten on the scale and don't want to. These pants I am wearing are snug - when they loosen up, I'll step on to find out what pounds have disappeared.

Your menu looks delicious! The Korean chicken is good. Yum. I'm going to have to look up the cream cheese balls.

Day 3 and I am going strong! Does that statement sound as if I am surprised to you? Well, I am! I truly believe that the advice I read about preparing for the dessert and sweet craving prior to starting has helped! Plus, printing out real recipes and having a plan in mind for the week really set the tone.

I know, I know, this should not be NEWS to ME, but...

Yesterday I did not end up having the Korean chicken as it had to be marinated overnight - so it will be served up tonight! I did have, for the first time, a Mock Danish - love it!! I didn't have time to make the cream cheese balls/clouds but hope to tonight.

I am still taking it day-by-day, but I am on track!

Yesterday evening I had to go off plan due to a terrible tummy ache. I had to eat something to try to settle it and more chicken was not going to do. I am disappointed, but not defeated. Just back on track today.

The Korean chicken was a huge hit, as were the cream cheese clouds. I thought I made the clouds too sweet, but everyone else loved them just as-is. I am very, very pleased that I am having different and enjoyable meals to look forward to each day. It is really helping.

This morning I had sausages and coffee; lunch will be a lettuce wrapped turkey unwich from Jimmy Johns - I love them! Tonight will be interesting because there will be a lot of running around after work with the kids. I hope to be able to grab a nice salad while I'm out.

I still have not been on the scale. Normally I can't stay off but I am a little worried that I won't see any change. I am staying positive though!

Hi, Nic ~ I appreciate your encouragement. I'd like to say that I did not get discouraged when I saw the scale did not move last week - but I did. Very much so. I guess I am going to have to really keep things simple for a while to figure out what happened so I can lose.

I don't feel great today. I hope I am not getting sick or something. Otherwise, it could be just feeling in the dumps. Maybe I am PMSing...would explain the feeling LOL.

Here's to a new day!

Sorry you're not feeling well, Fifi. I know the scale can cause so much discouragement. Please don't let it defeat you, though. Just keep going, forget about the off plan eating when you weren't feeling well and you'll do fine.

Well, this is depressing: I just found old threads I was subscribed to back in early 2007. That means, had I stuck with "it," I would not be chubby right now. (sigh)

Even more depressing is that despite my wanting to come back to low carb to lose, I have put on even more weight recently. WTH?

I have been reading up on PSMF, and I am going to give it shot. It is strict, no dobut. But I like the RF and FMs. Like little "gold stars" for good work.

Now, to find that STRONG WILL I misplaced so long ago...

Haven't had the chance to be online because I have been so busy with work, and my sister showed up for a week's stay.

I did weigh myself yesterday afternoon: 154! Down 2. Very pleased. I will be very happy to be BACK in the 140's.

Monday I am going to officially begin the PSMF diet. That means I need to put together a good shopping list this weekend.

I am so glad it is Friday!

K. Today is Day 1 on the PSMF. I was so shocked to see the scale had not only gone up the amount I had lost, but added more! I am now starting to wonder if my allergy meds are contibuting at all to this. I am not going to take them for now.

In addition to weight, food stuff. I am going to start writing about the other stuff going on in my day so I can figure out what my emotional triggers are.

Buying a car stinx. Haggling, waiting, spending money. Spending money for car repairs stinx even more. UGH

My new hair color is two days old. I have not gotten used to it; not liking it. Wish the salon was open on Mondays so I could call. I'm going to get in there this week for some tweaking.

Menu
B: egg white omlette - bland, need to work on that; coffee
L: cottage cheese & celery; diet coke
S: more water
D: grilled chicken breast; salad greens

I found it hard to be good last night. This diet does not offer much in the way of food choices. I need to get some different options for drinks besides water. The scale was kind today: down 2.

I will stay on track and keep reminding myself of my FM on Sunday.

Still not liking this hair color.

Stats:

W: -2
Menu: Breakfast - egg white omlette, coffee; Lunch - salad greens; Dinner - prolly chicken again. Diet soda and that currently dreaded water.

Down another 2. With results like these, I'm going to have no problem sticking to this plan.

Yesterday I was pretty hungry though. I had a friend visit in the evening which was a good way to keep my mind off the food.

I know what's coming off is water weight, but I really like it!

Todays menu:

B: egg white omlete; coffe
L: salad greens topped with cottage cheese
D: -not sure yet- chicken and veg

Very interested to see what happens with the scale tomorrow...

Last night I had my first free meal. It was not planned, but it is part of the diet, so I don't know why I feel so guilty. LOL

I had a glass of wine, two small slices of fresh bread with my chicken and an ice cream. Yum!

But, I am up .6 today. I know it is to be expected, but I just don't like it! I do have my refeed planned for Sunday. Until then, I am hoping for a 1 or 2 pound loss!

Menu for today:
B: egg white omlette; coffee
L: quarter of a rotisserie chicken
D: chicken breast with salad and veg

I am happy that tonight I will be changing this "new" hair color. The kids are going to be upset to have to sit there and wait...but mommy's got a hair emergency!

Hi! PSMF - protein sparing modified fast. It is a short-term very low carb, very high protein diet that incorporates one free meal and one refeed each week, depending on your body fat composition. It's not long-term, but a kick-start if you will.

As if it being Friday wasn't enough to make me happy, I am down another pound. At this rate, I think I can make the low 140's before my trip in two weeks. YES!

I changed my hair color again yesterday, and I am very pleased. The red was just not a good look on me. All this, and having the weekend a few hours ahead, has put me in a decent mood. LOL

Today's menu:

B: egg white omlette with cheese and sour cream; coffee
L: cottage cheese and ? (haven't decided yet)
D: chicken breast smothered in cheese and veg

I added some fiber powder to the eggs and the cottage cheese. I am hoping that will help keep things...in order...
