I'm gonna live... just in time for work.

UGH.

Everytime I could roll over in bed comfortably, I was praising God, let me tell you. The sad fact - I don't appreciate my health until I lose it briefly!

Heather,
I finally finished all your blog. It took me 4 days of computer time but I enjoyed every minute of it. You and Ron are great folks.
I used to work at the blind school and adult vocational rehab center here in Raleigh, NC.I was a housekeeper there for 8 years and a house parent with the kids there for 1- 1/2 years. I got real familiar with the vending machine program while working there and also saw all the training to run a snack bar and grill.
I was very friendly with all the vocational rehab teachers and lots of the clients they served. One of my best buddies was a visually impaired secretary and her totally blind husband. They did vending machine buisness after their snack bar couldn't turn enough profit. They had lots of challenges with transportation much like you and Ron.
Anyhow, I just wanted you to know how much I admire you and Ron and tell you what a talent you have for writing.
HAGD!
Jean

Hi Jean! Sad fact, snack bars are only good for the customers! It's rare for one to make enough to live on.

Sad fact about self employment, you have to go into work even when you feel LOUSY. I didn't even get paid today.

I think I'm going to cut out the sardines for a while and see if that helps. They were implicated in the last migraine. Also coconut oil.

Ugh... I have piles of dishes and dirty laundry, too. Not today.

Hi Heather, Someone posted on the playground that you posted regularly here in your journal. I'm happy to find you. I was afraid that you disappeared from LCF. I think we may live near each other, I'm close to Tomball, and I was hoping that we could meet up sometime for coffee.

Glad you're getting some relief from your migraine. Have you ever kept a calendar of your migraines to see if it relates in any way to your your menstrual cycle? (Forgive me if you've already tried that, I haven't read enough of your journal to know what you have tried) My dr. had me keep a journal of what I ate and time of month and we found a pattern with my menstrual cycle. She wanted me to try birth control pills; but after doing some research I decided on natural progesterone cream. It has worked wonders. I can't even remember the last time I had a migraine, sinus headaches yes, but no migraines. My cycles are also much more regular, not as heavy, and much less PMS symptoms. Have no idea if this would be helpful for you, but it worked for me. For more info you can search natural progesterone cream. Dr John Lee pioneered a lot of research regarding women's progesterone levels. Hope you are able to determine the cause. I remember how difficult life was to be out of commission for a couple of days every month.

PM me if you'd ever like to meet up.

You have a private message!

You sound just like a family member of mine, Myrtle! I've never noticed a direct correlation, the one I had last week was a couple days into my cycle, and then this one was about 10 days in?

I am standing firm in blaming the coconut oil, and keeping a fishy eye on the sardines. You know what our weather's like, and I walk around in it shopping! I'm sure that's a factor!

So, today, after I got home from work, I went shopping and Ron went to the Waffle House. Since I had just eaten a Waffle House omlette 24 hours before migraine I'm avoiding them for a bit! Ron said fine, but he was going. He ate some grisly conconction of fried eggs, hashbrown, chili, and cheese. It must have been a mess!

Anyway, I went to the Sporting Goods store, I wanted to see if they had any cute shorts. Not. Really. Then it was off to Walmart. I turned in the photos I wanted and looked around. Yes, the size 10 skort fit decently. I was happy. No, the size 10 shorts did not.. it really depends on the style. Some are more generously cut. I got a t-shirt and finally spent some quality time bra-shopping. I decided to go with sportbras, because my band and cup size can vary depending on where I am in my cycle. Thank you, antipsychotic! It works wonders for my chest.

So, I got 3 sportbras, a skort, and a tshirt. I also got some Powerade Zero because it's hot out there! I got my photos. The ladies found them "cute". She even rang up my whole order right there in photo! Ron finally has some new photos for his "brag book" - he loves to show the photos to people as he meets them, to let them know about his life. I've got photos of Ron moving a vending machine on a pallet jack, filling machines, riding a horse, using a meatslicer, and mowing the lawn. I added in some fun in the sun photos too.

I ordered some wallets so I have 2 cute "Galveston" frames with cute little "lovebird" photos on the fridge, and one larger 4x6 on the bookcase. I'm happy. The frames are cute, the photos cuter.

I was talking to a lady at the bus stop and she said I just "light up" when I talk about him. I thought that was sweet.

Then I went to Starbucks, and had a drink. I showed off a photo because Ron goes there often, and talked zombie movies with one of the guys.

After that, Foodtown! I drank up A LOT of my Powerade Zero during the last migraine, I had some stashed under my bedside table, so I could just grab it if I were really sick. I try to plan for the worst. Anyway, I drank a couple bottles of that plus a gallon I had stashed in the fridge (4 more quart sized). EEEK!

I wanted to buy another 8-pack of the 20 ouncers, but reason won out. Ron has offered to "take" me to Foodtown on Metrolift, and I'm going to take him up on the offer! Why should I lug pounds of the stuff home if I don't have to?

It's one thing, bringing home some hamburger, it's another hurting myself by trying to drag home a couple of cases in the heat!

So... I just bought myself some Diet Dr Pepper, and 2 cold bottles of water. I drank one and gave the other to the hot-looking bus driver who brought me home!

We need rain here bad...
My garden has done just awful this year, even my potted plants and hanging baskets have not thrived.
My cucumber plants bloomed like crazy and no cukes. My squash plants produced very little and are about done.
Even my tomatoes are not happy this season.
How does your garden grow Heather?

Most of it's pretty dried up, except for the scented geraniums.

I'm gettin' my butt kicked pretty bad by depression today. Normally I only take 2 lithium tablets a day, I'm about to take #3. Probably 4 tablets total by the end of the day.

It's just that kind of day. Agh.

I did! Wait until you hear about this!

AGH... My first post got eaten, this is take 2.

Anyway, I got home, posted, took lithium. More lithium, I should add. I normally take about 600 mg, but today I went up to 1050. I feel fine now so good call. I also added in some Magnesium and laid down for a little nap.

Ron had planned a trip to Starbucks. Sounded fun, and I don't mind going up a tad (read 12 gram heavy whipping cream drink) on the carbs when I'm down, it seems to help if I choose smart carbs obtained from real food.

So, we went. We had a good time, Ron showed off his photos, everyone complimented my photograpy - I thought that was great.

I felt a little more sociable, I called my aunt and we yakked. I decided to go to the Christian bookstore and look around. I wanted some more Footprints bookmarks. I walked out of there with 39 Bibles, the bookmarks, various tracts, and a t-shirt. So far, so good.

Not so smart to get all this when I didn't have a cart. One day I'll learn!

I ran over to the Dollar store, no carts so they were TOTE bags, alright. Getting heavier and heavier. Maybe I should call a cab.

I called Ron and he said he wanted cat treats, and chicken. I got both, and I decided that yes I would take a cab! Well worth the $10, as opposed to probably an hour on the bus and guaranteed 20 minutes of "toting" my treasures home.

I've decided my new policy will be to take a cart EVERY time I go to that store!

So, I have 3 tote bags and a backpack. I'm walking along a busy street trying to get to the Burger King.

All of a sudden I hear popping noises and my leg is killing me. I look down. I have a welt. I look up. A kid, I swear he is demon possessed, is staring at me with a heartless expression.

I blurted out the first thing I thought "Not cool!"! I kept "totin" my stuff because I'm hungry and I want to get off the street.

Poor Ron. I call him "Would a BB break the skin?"
WHAT?
"Some kid just shot me with something, I'm wondering if it was a BB. I'm OK, but it hurts. It didn't break the skin."
-Lots of male outrage-

So, I decided not to report it. I don't have any identifying information and I did kind of damage my credibility with the whole "naked wife" incident. Let me put up a link: Heather knits, the junk food queen: "The Guy with the naked wife"

I prefer to keep a LOW profile these days. I couldn't identify him anyway, and I'll have a bruise but that's about it.

Thank God it was only a pellet gun! It could have been so much worse! I could be in surgery right now... or dead.

How awful for everyone.

Anyway, I got off easy, getting "shot" while walking to Burger King with 39 Bibles in my tote bags!

It could only. Happen. To me!

I have my Pomada de Arnica (Arnica salve - good for bruising) on my table, I'm giong to apply some after I take my shower). I always bruise spectacularly so it ought to be interesting.

I'll sure have something to talk about at work!

Edit: I'm feeling OK now, after taking almost double my daily dose of lithium today. I guess I just needed extra. My doc is cool with me doing this.

Yeah, he's a little pig. Funny thing is, now he's on my prayer list! That would really kill him!

I didn't think it was "that" big a deal, but everyone at work and on Metro was aghast to hear about it. It still hurts but not much.

We went to Sam's club and bought candy for work. Took the candy to work and then stocked it, fixed a naughty soda machine, and filled 'em up. Sales seem to be coming back. Good.

After work we went off to Walmart. I lost the head on my lancing device on my blood sugar meter, so I couldn't take my sugars. It was cheaper to buy another meter than a lancing device! Anyway, after I got it home I found the head to the lancing device in my trash can. Agh. It can be RON's meter, then.

I got exciting things like lavender-scented bleach, some citrus Lysol, room freshener, and of course some diet soda. We got Ron some low carb beer, TV dinner type things, batteries, and some splenda tablets. It's a little tic-tac type dispenser, and you just click the button and a tablet falls out into your drink. Ron can carry it in his fannypack. It's a lot easier than messing with packets and now he can sweeten his own drinks. Yay!

When I checked the mail, we had a terrifying thing from sales tax saying we owed them $1,500. No, we don't. It took Ron a while on the phone to sort it out, but it's clear. We paid them when we should have, and the amount we should have. I always write his taxpayer ID # and the quarter and year, so they don't get confused. Apparently someone on their end lost the form, even though we had all our data on the check as well. They didn't credit it... and took $100 Ron had owing from the state.

I doubt we'll see THAT. Pretty good scam.

Anyway, he's just happy we're all settled. AGH. We don't have ENOUGH stress?

I wore the size 10 skort all day and it felt great, even when I was lugging heavy cases and crawling behind a vending machine.

I HATE checking my voicemail.

I hate checking my email. I hate thinking I've been ripped off, too.

I finally dug through all my old emails. As near as I can tell, I had an overdraft earlier this month when they charged me for my debit card fee ($12 a year). Then daily fees... ack.

Fortunately the $20 I put in ought to cover everything, if I read it all correctly. Some days, I feel very brain damaged. Today is one of them.

My sugars averaged 106 for the week. I am not happy with that number. Today, it was an average of 109. I took 2 readings, the first said 113.

It looks like I'm going to need to account for every speck I put into my body so I can figure out how to get the sugars down to a better level. AGH.

Now I'm going to go have fun - don't know how or what, but I'll have fun doing it.

Boy, I'm getting my butt kicked with this depression today! I don't think the Twilight Zone marathon is helping much, either.

Years ago, I wrote a poem, I was too depressed to save it... I painted an image of myself as captain, fighting a war, ("It's not a disease, it's a war!") against depression. The ship was in flames, the decks ran with blood, and I kept fighting wondering if I'd ever win even a respite.

That's how I feel today... the last thing I want to do is go out. I want to go into the bedroom and go to sleep. I want to stay at home, curled up in my chair, but those are the last things I can let myself do. Today, I'm forcing myself out into hot, humid, sticky, heat index warning, ozone warning day because I don't DARE stay home. I need to eat, and I need another lithium on board.

The great consolation of my illness, whatever mood I've got will change soon. I just have to hang in there.

Normally I get depressed after I donate blood (every 2 months). It came a little early this time, but that's good. This time, I don't have to worry about a depression eating me alive after I donate, because it's already had me for dinner.

Oh, and many diet Dr's will be drunk today. I have to stay hydrated you know.

Feeling better.

I had a good trip to the fireworks stand, foodtown, and a food place.

I had an interesting talk with a homeless, bipolar, alcoholic. It reminded me to take my lithium!

And, I handed out a bunch of Bibles too.

I woke up with a headache, I was pretty worried but it went away. We went in to work, busy, filled 'em up, got it all done. Then Cracker Barrel. OMG! So busy!

We bought some candy to give to the Metrolift Dispatchers downtown, so I was lugging it with me. Heavy! I had felt so lousy when I woke up I took my pills later... and I started getting toxic!

We went downtown and did the party, I thought it was fun to see people but Ron didn't like it. We gave them the candy, yay! It was a big hit. I handed out some Bibles today too.

On the way home, with one of our favorite drivers, I began to get miserably nauseous. I still am. Cramping.... I'm toxic.

Ugh. All the heat and increasing my lithium, made me toxic. You can google "lithium toxicity" if you're ever bored, it's not fun. The therapeutic dose and the toxic dose are pretty close together.

All I know, I won't be taking tonight's dose and I'm going to go curl up in a ball with some powerade zero on the nightstand!

Oh, I will... eventually.

A lot of belching and groaning tonight... I have some wonderful Kitchen Basics broth I heated up for days like this.

I read in a book - I believe it was Atkins, where he mentioned a program of "intelligent coddling" because we all need coddling at times. Like many women, I'm terrible at pampering myself.

So I did that... and uploaded a new avatar. Whatcha think?

Hi Heather; loving your new avatar!

Between the heat and humidity, you sure didn't need the migraines, getting shot by a punk, then being toxic besides. I'm so sorry you've been feeling so lousy.

Before my hysterectomy, I used to get migraines that coincided with my cycle. I'm so glad I'm done with all that. Hope you can find the cause of yours. Sounds like you're working on that and finding your triggers.

Have a great and happy Independence Day! Happy Birthday America!!!

I'm going to set off firecrackers, I already bought them. A neighbor is setting some off right now.

I had about half a gallon of powerade, 2 cups of chicken broth, and a small dinner. I'm feeling a lot clearer and less pukey.

It HAS been a helluva week, huh?

My friends sister drives one of those special transit rides you take. I thought she lived in Houston and was afraid you might run into her sometime. But she's not in Houston. She can tell by looking at you if you're going to hell and is always trying to convert people to her 'religion'. I didn't think you needed someone like that!

Oh, I've met a few... one guy told Ron he was hell-bound because he was too happy. A real Christian, he said, was very grim. Ron was too busy "jestering" to be an effective witness and had no business even speaking Jesus' name. The man was literally shouting at us, almost in tears. I wasn't submissive enough for his taste, either.

We didn't call him in because we figured, accurately, he wouldn't last long.

There's another lady, who is handing out her group's tracts. No names mentioned, In her own way, she is serving God, but God let me know I could be AT LEAST that bold in handing out my Bibles!

But yeah, better to avoid all that. God doesn't need ME to drag a soul to him. All I have to do is be a good, kind person who hands them a Bible. What's her secret? She's so happy and they have so many problems! Hm. A Bible, huh? Let me open this up... and from then on God will continue to draw that person to him.

All I have to do is to attempt to treat everyone as if they're Jesus. Attempt. And, hand them a Bible. The other day, this was funny, a longer-term driver showed up and banged on the door. She needed to use the bathroom.

That could have gotten her fired; but she knew I wouldn't report her. All I've got in the bathroom are my girl things (help yourself), and some basic OTC remedies (again, help yourself). I had a bottle of Lysol right there and plenty of hand soap. Go for it! Afterward, I did spray some Lysol after we got home but that was it.

UGH; more drama today.

Why, you ask? Someone got Ron's debit card number and tried to extract money from his account... over a mortgage payment. Ouch. Ron is livid.

THEN... Bubba cat, yes, this sweet little face:

Brought home a LIVE RAT. It is still in the living area. I have all the bedrooms closed off. It's large. Bigger than a can of soda, about a 20 ounce size. Ron actually kicked it, it just squealed and ran off. I'll be going to the store, to buy rat traps!

I'm feeling fine now, just a little dried out and headachey because I hid in my room when I heard all the meowing, squealing action this morning... ugh. Time to eat and take my pills.

On the plus side, my 2 best friends from high school have found me on Facebook this year - one of them yesterday. I dropped off the radar when Ron and I ran off together. I really loved Eric like a brother, still do... very fond memories. I was NOT an easy freind and he was very loyal and sweet. I'm happy he found me.

It's nice to know he must have seen my photo and figured out it was me. I still look like Heather.

Edit, cat and Rat are confined to bathroom. I will warn Ron and bring him the commode chair until things are -finished-.

Any news on who is winning, as cat and rat face off in the bathroom? Maybe animal control will come out and take a look at what sounds like a really large rodent???

The rat hid in the trashcan and kitty got bored.

I knew rat was in the bathroom. I very carefully hunted until I eliminated every possibility (about 80 square foot bathroom), EXCEPT the trash can. I tapped it, and it rustled. I sat down on the toilet and had a talk with the rat. I was going to pick up the can and put it outside, IF Ratty didn't bother me, he would be outside in less than a minute. I opened the backdoor and went back into the bathroom.

I put oven mitts (Ron's idea) on both hands. I picked up the can, talking to it, telling Mr Rat he was going outside, and wouldn't we both be happy... dropped it in the backyard and went back inside! The can was - stirring - as I shut the blinds. The rat was about 9 inches long, or about the size of a 20 ounce soda bottle.

The rat was happy. I was happy. Ron was happy. Bubba is unhappy because I shut his cat door.

UGH. What a horrible way to wake up, a meowing cat, rodent squealing, and the cat coming towards me with a long rodent tail hanging out of his mouth. No wonder I screamed!

UGH. All over!

After taking my shower, Ron and I went to Starbucks. We took the wheelchair; and the bus. It was fine, easy, and Ron would do it again. I'd do it again.

I got more diet pop, plenty of time in the heat. I need to be drinking more fluids...but I just don't feel thirsty. I need to make up some good diet tea and drink that, perhaps.

Ron gave me tomorrow off. All we have planned are Foodtown and a trip to the Waffle House.
