I didn't keep all of the losses off but still down so I'm happy with that.

This week we got all of the curtains hung down stairs and in the loft. Now I just need to find something for the kitchen window and the 3 bedrooms upstairs. The boys don't care one bit about curtains so no worries there

DH has his list for tomorrow He'll be putting in two more ceiling fans, new kitchen faucet and new floor board under the kitchen sink. While he's doing that I think I'll see if I can whip up the headboard with that fabric I found. Hopefully that and the bench won't take me too long because I'd also like to refinish the french doors. The outside of the doors are in rough shape so I'm hoping I can do a decent enough job for now. I have a few more pictures to hang also.

I'm almost ready to release DH from his inside the house work He's really itching to get into the yard to work and actually I'm surprised he's lasted this long. Actually the only thing that has prevented him from already doing the landscaping is the fact it's been so dang dry here. I suppose there's no use in putting a bunch of new plants in the ground and losing them to the heat and drought.

ok here's a living room picture.

Before (remember these before pictures were taken while the former owners still lived here)

And after. I still have a few little things to do in this room like get a couple more red pillows and of course lots of cleaning still to do. But you'll get the idea from these anyway.

Here is the Master Bath

Before, this was the day of the home inspection--the guy in the pics is the home inspector

And after. I still have new hardware to put on the doors and new faucets going in. Eventually I'll do a new countertop and sink.

We hated the shower stall that was in so tore out the stall and jacuzzi and put in the tub/shower combo. The new tub is 6' long and has a deep soak level. I sanded and painted the vanity. I'm still debating on what color towels and rugs to use so for right now I have a little bit of everything.

And one more picture. I'm not quite ready for master bedroom pictures, but here is a photo of the headboard DH and I made today. I love it!

I can't see them today, but the first set of pics were beautiful! I love being able to say, "I did this myself!".

I loved the carpet tiles in the basement. I ordered them online which was scarey, but the price was irresistable, even with shipping. These were the kind you just lay down. No glueing or taping at all. They stay down too. We even moved furniture over them and they didn't move. I have plenty of extras, so if one gets stained or torn, I just lift it up and put a new one down. They only drawback is that you can't put a pad under, and they are very tight and hard. Not much cushion.

I hope I can see your pics later!

Those sound perfect for a basement Dharma. I especially like the fact that you can probably easily replace one.

Bad news today, our A/C went out! We got home from church and when I went in to change clothes I could hear the unit making strange noises. Then I noticed the thermostat was set on 80 and the temp was 82. Not good. Good thing we purchased a home warranty when we bought this place. We called the warranty company today so hopefully someone will be out tomorrow to take a look. It's about 86 in here now which isn't too bad considering it was 96 or so outside today. Gosh I hope we can sleep tonight!

I love the headboard. It's gorgeous! Did you actually paint the top of the bathroom vanity or did you replace it? LOVE the new tub!

Ev, I painted the cabinets, not the top. The top of the vanity is still the old one. It's a cultured marble so I just cleaned with a little car wax. I hate it so it will be replaced eventually I'm going to go with a dark brown top with white rectangular shaped sinks.

Yesterday was a bad day I ate everything in site. I'm not sure what it was really except I was craving chocolate. Instead of eating some chocolate, I ate everything else then finally had some chocolate last night. Maybe next time if I'm craving chocolate I should just eat some first.

I spent most of the day at work in crisis problem solving mode which I love to do but it leaves me exhausted. Maybe that was the real problem. Or maybe it was spending the rest of the day working on the company finances.

The mortgage market is a tough place to be right now. Our company is surviving but that's just about it. I guess I should look on the bright side that the bills are paid and we're meeting payroll each month. However we may be forced to make some tough decisions down the road. Ahhh, the joys of owning your own business.

I'm not really sure why eating junk food makes me feel better. Of course it doesn't make me feel better in the long term and eating crap certainly didn't solve any of my problems yesterday. It just added another one to the mix. And this morning the first thing I thought about when I woke up is how remorseful I felt about eating all of the crap. I didn't think about some serious issues I have to deal with at work today, I thought about what a "bad" girl I was.

Gosh I thought I was done with "good" girl "bad" girl diet mentality. I guess not so I'll work on that a bit.

I sure didn't have the best week this past week and now I have a few extra pounds to show for it. It's frightening how fast I can gain weight. I know a lot of it is water retention, but still The best part is (yes the best part) I feel like crap. I'm amazed at how much worse my joints are when I don't eat low carb. So, back on track today!

Here's something that made me smile this morning so I'll share it here. This is a recap of Vacation Bible School held last week at our church. I love this song and now it's in my head I'm a fisher...I'm a fisher...I'm a fisher of men...

Hey Leenie! Good processing. I always find it AMAZING how quickly the weight comes back on. It's frightening!

I notice, as well, how sluggish and icky I feel after eating poorly. You'd think that alone would stop us but it doesn't. Alas, it takes a balance, doesn't it? I can't become too hypervigilant or I rebel.

I'll check out the video when I'm at home. No speakers at the office!

Hi Ileen, good to see you!

I'm not doing well. For the past two weeks I've been up and down half of the night with night sweats, etc. then the days are filled with crushing fatigue.

I was managing well on a few hours sleep for a few days but it finally caught up to me this week. I came home from work early today just to take a nap.

My usual patient, understanding and helpful self has been replaced by short and snippy.

Menopause, ain't it grand?

Lots of stuff going on at work and on the home front but honestly I'm just too tired to type it out. Maybe another day.

I'll get to the doctor soon and get it all figured out.

This is actually probably still peri too. It's difficult for me to know for sure since I had the hysterectomy. I have a doctor's appointment Monday afternoon so we'll do the labs and figure it all out again.

Last weekend we started working on the condo we own, getting it ready to sell. We bought that condo thinking the kids could live there while they went to college, but that just hasn't worked out the way we thought it would so we're going to dump it.

Last weekend we stripped wallpaper from the kitchen, the master bath, the downstairs half bath and the hallway. This weekend we'll be sand and primer and get it ready to paint.

We're not going to show it until we have everything done but we're already getting calls from our word of mouth advertising at the complex. I think we'll be able to sell it pretty fast, especially since we're not looking to make a huge profit but just break even.

DD is moving back home the 26th of this month. I'm excited and she's excited. She's been on her own for the past few years, but with the rising cost of fuel, etc. she's having a difficult time making it on her own. So she'll move back home until she finishes college. She said she plans on getting her Master's and maybe PhD so she might be there awhile
I'll really enjoy having her back in the house.

Gotta run and get started, have a good weekend!

I know Ev, it's been crazy with all of this going on at once. But, the end is in sight and we have some fun trips coming up.

The good thing about the condo is while we are working over there we're also taking advantage of the fabulous pool. That's our motivation to finish the work as quickly as we can then spend an hour or so at the pool. It doesn't take us long to relax; I was drifting off and I heard DH snoring

Later this month I'm going to tag along with my husband when he goes to a conference. I'm looking forward to having a couple days down time!

Leenie - How great that you're enjoying the pool! Balancing work and play! (And some snoozing for DH.) Where is the conference you'll be attending? I'm so happy your daughter is moving home. I would love it if my daughter decided to come back 'home' for grad school. I'm afraid she's really falling in love with northern Cali and is settling in there.

I'm heading to the lab soon for the fasting bloodwork. I won't know anything for sure until all of my labs come back.

Ev, the conference is in Nashville, TN. We're staying at the Opryland Resort Hotel so I'm looking forward to that. Nashville Resort Hotel - Nashville Convention Center - Opryland Resort Hotel & Convention Center Nashville TN
There's plenty of shopping nearby but right now lounging by the pool sounds divine

I have a busy day ahead so I best get at it!

So sorry to hear about all the menopausal problems! I'm so not looking forward to that! Please let us know what the doctor says! Pool sounds like great fun! It's so hot hear that I can't even abide going to the beach. The sun beats down on you, the humidity is a million % and even the sea water is like bath water! it's not refreshing and cool when you jump in! Oh how I long for winter!

Great that your DD is moving home! Mine just left on the morning of the 17th. She went to live with her Dad in VA for college. I already miss her so much. She has always gone to spend a month with him in the summer and I didn't miss her this much. I guess it's just knowing that she won't be back until Thanksgiving!

My weight is holding pretty steady and that's because I'm not really doing anything to lose it. It's just been too difficult these past couple of weeks to think about dieting when all I could think about was sleep.

Here's the weird thing, I actually had cravings for baked potatoes earlier this week. I mean big time cravings. So much so I had a baked potato for lunch and a VERY LARGE baked potato for dinner.

I slept like a baby that night.

I guess my body was telling me what I needed to get the sleep. I'm very very happy I listend to the craving I can't even tell you how much better I felt the next day getting a solid 6 hours of sleep.

So no more cravings for baked potatoes and the next day I was craving a very large salad. Good thing I didn't ever crave chocolate

I've had 3 solid nights of sleep I feel like a million damn dollars!

I go back to the doctor on August 4th and will get all of the results then. My hubby did print out a copy of my labs for me and I'm not seeing anything there that might indicate a problem. The only thing out of range has to do with my arthritis so no surprises there.

The only one in range I'm a little concerned about is the glucose. That one was at 101. The range shows 70-115 so maybe the 101 isn't so high anymore, but I was thinking 101 was rather on the high side for fasting.
I'll check that out and see.

The bad news is I'm not seeing any testing on the sex hormones Either Hubby didn't get that page printed or they didn't test. If they didn't test I might just have to blow up Isn't that why I went to the doctor in the first place? DH won't be back to his office until Thursday so I'll have to wait until then to see if he can find it in the system.

Maryam, yeah I guess at this point you do mostly inside activities until it's dark? That's pretty common here in San Antonio. You see many more people out and about after dark than during the hot days.

Today we're heading over to the condo to paint for a few hours then enjoy the pool again. We should finish
