My Journey To Fabulosity!!

It is me again.......this is like my third attempt at keeping a DAILY journal. I get frustrated at myself when I allow weeks to go by w/ out an entry. So much can happen in a week. I am sure I am breaking a rule or two by starting a third one.....sorry!! I promise this is the last one.

Anyhow...long story short, I am a happily married mother of four (14,6,2,11 month) who has about 50-60 pounds to loose. I have had sooooooooo many issues w/ food in the past. Atkins works for me when I stick to it, so thats the game plan.

I have no idea what my starting weight it because I did not weigh today, but I am sure it is 185-190.

Tuesday Menu

4 devilled eggs~3 carbs

2 pork chops w/ parm. cheese~2 carbs (??)

Coffee, splenda 5 carbs,s/f cream 4 carbs and whip cream 2 carbs

Diet 7-up and Seagrams (I usually only have a cocktail on husbands day off, this is not a daily routine)

So, if I gussed correctly, about 16 total carbs.

Okay...see ya on wed.

Mrs Leake~~~ HA!! You are sooo right. You would think chasing all the kids around would be enough........My theory.....pregnancy does "something" to your body. It seems harder to loose baby weight, than it would if I were just 20 pounds over weight. Who knows....it is not like I am a doctor, but losing baby weight, I struggle way more than if I were just doing one of my diets. How old are your kids?

I have been soooo tired today, no energy, just blah. I am assuming it is because I am doing low carb, but I do not know how accurate that assumption is. So, on that note, I have a few questions.

1. How long does this lack of energy last (day 2)??

2. What is a "whoosh?" I have been reading a little bit about it on theese boards, but I do not understand what it is??

Wed. Menu

1 pork chop w/ parm cheese~ maybe 2 carbs (cheese)

egg salad w/ mayo and mustard~ 3 carbs

Baked Chicken w/ parm. cheese~ again...maybe 2 carbs for the cheese

Diet 7-up and a little Seagrams (This is my last cocktail night, husband returns to work tomorrow)

Coffee w/ splends and s/f cream, whip topping

Splenda-6
s/f cream-3
whip-2

Maybe 18 carbs??
Not sure, someone let me know if my carb count is off.

See ya on thursday!

Oh......I forgot to mention...still have not weighed, I am very nervous, just waiting it out a little longer.

Third time's a charm!

You are doing really well so far! Your energy should come back by the end of your first week. Remember, most of your carbs are supposed to come from salad and legal veggies (I am bad about it too!), but those carbs will definitely add to your energy level as well. See if you can work some in! Maybe some celery sticks with your egg salad, a small salad or some broccoli with your chicken.... It keeps you from getting bored, too. (I am sure that pork chop looks lonely on that plate all by himself! )

As far as your counts, they look about right. I use fitday. It is really helpful to find accurate counts, and to see where you might be making mistakes.

A woosh is a big loss over a short time! I pray for one almost every day!

Again Jen, you are really doing well, and I can see how committed you are this time! You can do this!

Then break out that lettuce, and slather it in your favorite creamy dressing. You might be able to hide some other ones in there!

Deb~~~ So do you think I am having too many carbs in my coffee?? Or the coffee is fine, just incorperate veggies??

Mrs. Leake~~~You DO have your hands full!!! Thank God I have my 14 yr old, he helps A LOT...you have 4 little ones......I can relate!

Today was a bad day for me. I cheated....I have no clue why I allowed myself to cheat, I was doing good, had some energy back and could almost "feel" a little lighter. Now...after I cheated, I feel horrible, sleepy and no energy. UGH!!!! So.....I am not going to give up on this journal just because I cheated (seems to be a hobby of mine) and I am not going to feel sorry for myself. I read a few post today where some other people cheated....so in a morbid kind of way that made me feel better. Tommorrow is a new day......AND....brace yourself.....I think I may actually weigh tommorrow. I have already prepared myself for a high number, but I really do need a number to start with, just so I can gage everything.

Revoultion Rolls.....I have been reading up on them today...looks interesting, have you guys had them before??

I am so glad you are still here! Don't let a little stumble get you down! If you journal through it, you can look back on it later and learn from it! You might see a pattern to your cheats, and be able to predict them and prepare better! Plus, we are all here to support you! Don't give up!

Your coffee is ok. You could cut out some carbs if you want by switching to heavy cream instead of sf creamer, and davinci instead of regular splenda. You really do need to add some veggies, and possibly a fiber supplement since your options are limited.

As for the revolution rolls, I have just never had the patience to deal with the seperating of the eggs and so on. Just isn't worth the result IMHO. The one minute flax muffin is really good and easy, so I use that.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

I am still so surprised how horrible I felt from cheating....my downfall is the sweats. I bought the kids some cakes and for some reason could not say no......I was sooo tired. I have hypoglycemia........and thats what it felt like when I had the cakes....blood sugar went crazy! Lesson learned.

What is davanci??

It is a coffee flavoring syrup, available sugar free, and they have loads of flavors.

Click it here: DaVinci Syrup

I do get the vanilla in the big bottle at Super Walmart for about $5, and it lasts me. (It's usually on the top shelf in the coffee aisle, make sure to look for the blue "sugar free" on the label!) I use it in lots of stuff, baking, whipping cream, coffee and tea. Since the splenda in it is in liquid form, it has less carbs than granular.

Hello! Last night was a long one with the baby...she was up all night, and this morning it looks as if she has a rash or something, who knows?

Yesterday was busy and tiresome, I did not keep up w/ my menu like I should. I think what happened is....I cheated on my diet on Thurs. that night was another long night w/ baby, I was up all night w/ her then had to be up at 6am on friday......so I was out of it from the effects of NO sleep, and eating too many sweets from the cheat...yesterday was a blur, I really did not follow the low carb one way or another. I should have, but I had too much on my plate.......pun intended! )

I did end up weighing myself, 190, I knew it would be high....what kind of person weighs themself the day after they cheat on diet?!?!? Atleast I have a number to go buy now...TOM is right around the corner, so I do not think I will weigh again till AFTER it leaves or on the 28th (wichever comes first) That should give me a good week to do low carb AND EXERCISE!!! I want to start usuing my little 5 pound weights, just something to start w/ but I will post that later. On the 28th is my youngest son bday, that will probably be a bad day food wise....but I think if I go all week NOT cheating AND doing some form of exercise then it will be okay if I have cake and pizza???? No???? Kind of like my reward for going a week..............Anyhow, I feel like I am talking too much (again, effects of no sleep) How is everyone????

I will post my menus and exercise later....BYE!!!!

P.S
Deb.....Ready for the game tomorrow???? Do you think they will beat Green Bay??

Hi Jennifer,

You are doing so well. It is HARD to journal everyday...make sure you are kind to yourself during the journey. Think of how much you do each day taking care of the house and kids...any little victories are HUGE when you think of how much effort is expended.

Oh and, by the way...my DD just saw your avatar, and she is sorry for you

GO PATS

I have been having problems w/ the stupid computer, have to take it in. If I am gone, thats why. Hopefully by next week all will be good.

Still doing okay w/ diet, but have not weighed myself. As soon as my computer is back to normal I will post all my menus.

Deb~~ OMG!!! After the coin toss I was soooo nervous, I kept walking from room to room asking my husband what happened. I could not even look. I was in shock, I still am in shock. Lets face it, they did not start off the season that great. I am soo happy, I have the same kind of pround feelinf for the GIANTS that I do if one of my kids did something outstanding.

Are you going to try and go to the Super Bowl?? How ar is it from you??

Hey Jennifer,

Good to see you journaling again! I'm glad you started a third one...lol.

I hate to admit I kinda wanted to see Green Bay win--but I'm rooting for the underdog now!

Hope your little one is feeling better. Don't beat yourself up too much for the cheat day--they happen and it causes a little bump in the road but doesn't take you off the path completely. Just hang in there!

There is no way we could afford tickets. But believe me, it isn't unheard of for me to hang out outside the stadium to try and get pics and autographs. (Hmmm, Eli Manning and Tom Petty in the same place at the same time! We'll see...)

The stadium is about 45 minutes from us, but my sister-in-law lives about 10 min. away.

Jennifer, I didn't know you had a new journal or I would have been in here.

I know you'll do well this year. Just keep at it. I've got a lot to lose also, but we can help keep each other accountable, alright neighbor?

Jennifer, I don't have kids but I have the same amount of weight to lose - 57 pounds. I don't know how you mommies do it! It's hard enough when it's just me (and hubby and 2 doggies of course). I have never done a journal because I have been AFRAID of being accountable. Maybe it was what I needed all along, who knows? Anyway, nice to meet ya!

Deb~~Last year when the GIANTS came to Seattle thats EXACTLY what I wanted to do...hang out at Qwest field and try to get atleast an autograph (this was the play offs..AND Tiki was still w/ them) However....the fair was the same day as the game so I had to take the kids. The sacrafices us moms make!!

Sue~~WOW!!! Great profile picture....you can tell you have lost A LOT (going off of your previous profile pic) You and I are about the same height and weight, very good motivation for me! )

I have been doing really good with my menus (shocker) and I can tell a little bit in my face that I am starting to loose. I still have not weighed myself, I am scared that if the number is not what I expect it to be than I may have a set back, but I feel really good!! I am going to wait another day or two then post my menus, I am keeping track in a notebook this time around.

Mandy~~ Oh I was the same way you were in regards to keeping a journal (I have had three!) I felt that if I started one then messed up w/ the diet it would be "out there" for all to see, so If I did not post it then I really did not "cheat" then I came to my senses and saw that everyone else was right....the journal helps me a lot...not that I do not mess up, but now it is easier for me to stay on track.
