Finally, a picture of Ashe off the CPAP! He still has the cannula, and they are sprinting him now, where he does 3 hours on the CPAP, and 3 hours off, but I was just so happy to see his sweet little face when I went in tonight! Now if he can just stay off the CPAP, he can be moved into the intermediate nursery with his brother!

Whew! I cant beleive how long its been since I have been on! Things have been crazy around here. Ronan came home 2 weeks ago today, so obviously hes been keeping me up and busy. In fact, I had a horrible migraine last night, probably from lack of sleep. Ashe is still in the hospital, so I still have to go and see him every day, which makes things a bit harder. And then my mom came and then my dad, sister and brother came for Christmas, so it has been a crazy, busy past few weeks.
Both boys are doing really well. Ronan is 5lbs 4 oz and Ashe is 5 lbs 11 oz. I cant beleive how big they are both getting! They have both really filled out. I will post some new pictures a little later. I am also really getting excited to get on some kind of diet plan. I am hoping to nurse/pump for at least 2 months (for a total of 4 months), so I cant do Induction until I quit. But I think I am going to try doing a 60 carb plan for now. That with some exercise should do something for me, even if I lose it slowly. So I am going to be doing some "research" the next few days to try and get some ideas for doing that. I hope everyone had a Great Holiday, and I will probably be online a bit more...I hope. Who knows when Ashe gets home? I may be a walking Zombie for awhile after that, too!

Hi Kyrsta
,Glad to hear from you and know that the boys are doing well. I think your plan may just do the trick; along with exercise. I wish you well with it and with the transition of becoming a mommy. I pray that you enjoyed all the love from your family, husband, and the babies. A blessed and Happy New Year to you and your family ! |

Ashe is coming home tomorrow! I will post pictures as soon as i can. I am going out now to get him a few more newborn outfits, since I hardly have any in that size and he is definitely out of his preemie sizes. Anyway, I just had to share...I am so excited to have BOTH my boys home!!

Well, Ashe didnt come home today. They decided to give him his 2 month vaccinations while he was in the hospital and keep him another day or two for observation before releasing him. SO I am hoping he comes home on Sunday. He is so darn adorable, I cant wait to have him home with me so I can see his sweet little face all the time! I was a little disappointed when I found out they wanted to keep him a bit longer, but oh well. I will, of course, post pictures when he is finally home!

I know you are disappointed.
Can't wait to celebrate with you though when they are both home together. They probably miss one another. Have you heard from Will. I can't imagine how bad he misses them. I'll be looking forward to you posting the pictures. Maybe you can get a nice one of all three of you for your profile picture. ![]() |

I know...I need to change my avi pic, but I havent had a picture taken of myself since the boys were born! How sad is that!? Maybe I will take one on monday, just so I have a picture of my starting, or RE-starting, point, so I can compare as I lose weight.

Ok, As I mentioned in Beth's journal, I have decided to do a 60 carb/day plan until I am done breastfeeding my twins. I'm not sure how long that will be...but probably at the very most it will be 4-6 more months. So, 60 carbs per day could be divided up a number of ways. I originally thought of doing heavier carbs in the morning and then no/few carbs in the evening, but I think I have decided instead to keep things even, just in case depriving myself of carbs in the evening affects my milk supply.
So, I will be doing three 15-carb meals + two 7-carb snacks. I think that will keep me out of ketosis, but still low enough that I can still lose some weight. Of course, I will be following all the rules of Atkins at that level, ie: no sugar, white flour, proccessed foods, etc. I am planning on eating my yogurt/spinach "green shakes", probably oatmeal (I have to check the carb count on this one), Fiber One, LC fruits (mainly berries and small portions of apple and maybe clementines) and maybe a small amount of LC bread and/or tortillas. Other than those items, I think I will pretty much be eating the usual Induction level foods, ie: veggies, meat, eggs, cheese, nuts, etc. It looks like there is a lot of really good Breakfast suggestions that are around 10-15 carbs in the Atkins for Life book. For Lunch and Dinner I will probably stick with a lot of the recipes that I already have, except maybe I will be having sandwhiches on LC bread for some of my lunches. Or wraps made with LC Tortillas. I think this is definitely going to take some adjusting, trying to make sure I EAT carbs at each meal! I know myself, and once I get into the LC "groove" again, I will mentally be wanting to eat very few carbs. I already know it will be a hard mental switch to try and stay at a higher level of carbs for each meal. I just hope that I can still get rid of my carb cravings while eating a higher level of carbs. That is one of the things I love about Induction...once I go into ketosis, a lot of my cravings disappear! It may be a little more difficult for me when I am not going into ketosis. Scary. This is going to be a challenge, I just hope I can do it successfully! Anyway, I wanted to start putting my thoughts and plans down, so that I can see them and refine them. Just 3 more days until I restart! |

OK, so my semi-official weight this morning is 161. I say semi-official because I forgot to weigh myself when I got up and so I had already eaten breakfast and drunk some water by the time I weighed. For breakfast I had a bowl of instant oatmeal (16) with 1 pk Splenda (.5), some butter (0) and 2 T cream (1) on it for a total of 17.5 carbs. I am probably going to be eating oatmeal for a few days, because I have heard that it helps with milk supply, and I need that right now! I am currently not making enough to feed both of my boys breastmilk at the same time for each meal. I will probably have an Atkins shake for a snack and I will have to see about lunch. We havent gone grocery shopping yet, so I dont have a lot of Atkins friendly food that I can grab and go.
But right now, I have to go on post and get the boys registered on our insurance, and then Ronan has a Drs appt after that. So I am going to go for now. Last edited by KrystaLyn; 01-05-2009 at 08:25 AM.. |

It's great to have you back Krysta!
A couple of things I would suggest.... Make sure you continue to take your prenatal vitamins. Also, after being on plan for a week I would check with some ketone strips to make sure you aren't in ketosis just to be on the safe side. You can burn a lot of calories breastfeeding. Keeping hydrated! This will help make sure you continue to make lots of milk for the boys. I used to keep a water bottle around me at all times. And exercise....get outside and walk when you can. As new moms, we can find ourselves stuck inside a lot. We need that sunshine! As I said before, I am proud of you!!!! Let me know if I can help you in any way! ![]()

I can tell I have been REALLY overdoing it with bad food...I have had 45 carbs already today, and I am STILL feeling the "ickies" from the sugar withdrawls, I am sure. Sigh. I should get over it in a few days. I just have to hang in there!

You can do it Krysta! Be patient with yourself.
Remember with breastfeeding you can have some days where your appetite will work against you. Some days you will find that you are much hungrier than other days. That just goes with the territory. So don't get discouraged. Some things are just out of your control. You are feeding three. It will get easier though I promise! |
