..well any beverage but make it a rule to have water with them.. it truly helps..Joining the gym is the best thing I have done.. I have wanted to do it g=for some time now.. the when dh said he would join with me.. I jumped at it.. because I just knew if I put it off.. he would change him mind..lol.. I love it.. so far I work my arms and legs then ride the bike for 10 minutes.. as I loose more.. I will venture to the elliptical..I just don't wanna look stupid only being able to do it so long.. them girls( all thin) stay on it FOREVER.. and it makes me want to huff and puff just for them.. .. but I WILL get there.. and i can't wait.. .. when I go , I feel so much better about myself.. ..have a great night hun.. ![]()

Hi!
I've just been lurking and came upon your posts and blog. We're about the same weight with the same long term goal so I thought I'd drop in and say hi and introduce myself! Sounds like your doing well getting back on plan. I just started my lc lifestyle Jan 1 so I'm right there with ya! I know about temptations myself..my DH and kids had burgers and fries for dinner! While I ate my lc dinner...But I know it'll be worth it! So good luck!!! We'll be "afters" in no time!! By the way, I love your wedding pic!!

Hi, I am just getting back to this woe and thought I would drop in and introduce myself. We have similar long term goals and I am still at Induction level for now. Probably for a couple more months any way. Best wishes on your journey! Water is sometimes difficult for me too.

Hi Valerie and Fancy! Thanks for introducing yourselves! I would love to keep in touch on here so that we can encourage and keep each other as accountable as possible... do either of you have blogs? If not, I check in on here every day (well, that's my goal at least, especially on weekdays)! It looks like you're both doing awesome... how encouraging to me!
Monet, thanks again for the scale tip... I went out and bought the Prodeux at KMart tonight and... I've lost 4 lbs in my first 4 days!!! What a way to stay motivated!! ![]() As a side note, I went to Red Robin (which, sadly I think is only on the west coast?) tonight with my DH and two of our neices. I got their cobb salad... oh so good!... but my DH tried something new that I think has got to be aimed directly at lc-ers! It's called the "Burger and Greens" or something to that extent and it's in the salad section. Well, it's a burger patty with swiss cheese and grilled onions on it, all on top of a HUGE bed of yummy mixed greens with bell peppers, grated cheese, grilled mushrooms, some tomatos, and with a side of dressing! YUM!!! I highly reccommend that anyone who has this restaurant around them tries these two salads! Ok. well, I'm off to change my "current weight"... woo-hoo!!!

Hi! I do not have a blog yet, but am thinking about doing one through this site. I am committed to posting everyday (or as much as possible) to keep myself accountable too, and think it would be great to share progress and encouragement.

Sounds great, Fancy! I enjoy having a blog so that I can go back and see what my menus have been... I figure that way too, if I stall, I'll hopefully be able to see why! Plus, it's a great way for others to check in with me... so we can always correspond on here if you decide not to start a blog!
![]() I'm proud of myself because my DH and I had my neices spending the night for the last two nights and I completely stayed ON PLAN! NO CHEATS!!! Usually, I think I would use something like this as an excuse... "well, I don't have the neices over that often, we can treat ourselves...", etc. Not this time! Plus, one of my neices has always been on the bigger side and is now getting heavier. I want to be able to set a healthy example for her... that life's about a lot more than yummy meals and treats... but also that she's beautiful, inside and out, just as she is. I'm not a parent yet, but I can see how it's a TOUCH responsibility! Anyway, today's menu: B- scrambled eggs w/cheese, bacon (2) L- lc tortilla, cheese, pepperoni (like a pizza!), salad (7) S- sf breve mocha (6) D- roast beef, mashed cauliflour w/cream cheese (5) TOTAL = 20 P.S. Does anyone know how I can/if I can edit my posts from previous days? I see an edit option right after I post something, but when I log in again, it's not there. Sometimes I end up having something different to eat and I'd like to be able to update my menu! HELP! ![]() Last edited by behind_the_mask : 01-26-2008 at 11:39 AM. |

Congrats on the no cheating with your nieces!! Each and every accomplishment needs to be celebrated! I've learned that every day there is a new and different excuse to eat off plan..and it's not always easy to resist! It's really tough for me sometimes! But when we do resist, not only have we not sabotaged our plan but we feel so much better about ourselves for resisting the temptation! So, here's to you, YOU GO GIRL!! ![]() |

Someone posted a thread asking what our goals are for 2008... I thought I'd repost my goals here so that I can look back on them from time to time when I need to be reminded...
My goal is to lose 100 lbs in 2008! That would bring me down to 259 and about another 100 lbs from my goal weight. I also just started taking blood pressure medication for the first time in my life, and I hope to be off of that by the end of this year, if not sooner. I realize that this is going to be a looooong journey, but I am really committed this time and I'm actually very excited! To reach my goal, I'm going to STAY ON PLAN (even if my DH decides not too), log in here as often as possible (every week day is my plan), start working out more frequently, drink more water, and stop making excuses! Also, I hope to deal with some of the "issues" that I covered up with fat to begin with... so, I'm hoping to seek out counselling for some big hurts in my life that I don't think I've completely worked through. Best of luck to us all! |

I'm so glad that you decided to start a blog! I'll go in search of it right now... which makes me think to suggest that you might want to include the link to your blog in your signature, that way people can easily get right to it! Have fun blogging! |

Fancy~ What I did was go to my blog and copy the address (or url), then paste it in my signature (you can choose "edit my signature" under the "Quick Links" option at the top of every page). Hope that helps!
![]() UPDATE: I just weighed myself again... and I've officially dropped my first 10 lbs!!! I'm SO EXCITED!!! I am NOT going to weigh myself again until Tuesday (my one week marker), so we'll see what the result is then... but I am so encouraged by how this is working out so far. ![]() Today's Menu: Brunch- coffee w/half and half, sf vanilla syrup, omlett w/cheese and sausage (2) S- 2 mozzarella sticks (2) D- carl's jr. low carb burger (5) S- lc fudge bar (2) TOTAL = 10* *we're going to our small group tonight that is a potluck, but we're eating dinner beforehand... we're also leaving some room to see if there's anything there we can munch. If not, we plan to have coffee or diet soda rather than eat! Wish us luck! |

Oh, congratulations on the 10 lbs gone. Time to do the happy dance!
Sounds simple. Thanks, I am going to try doing that with my signature. Hope it went well with your small group. |

Okay, I copied and pasting. Here's testing to see if it worked -- I have dialup and sometimes it is iffy.

Yep, your signature works, Fancy! Sounds like you had a great weekend too.
My DH and I made it through the potluck at small group, NO PROBLEM! They had pepperoni and cheese pizza, taco salad and brownies... WE had the taco salad, the topping from the pizza and NO brownies! I really wasn't even nearly as tempted by them as I normally would have been, and eating what I did, I didn't really feel deprived! I think this is the time I'm really going to DO THIS!!! I hope that everyone's weeks start out well!!! |

Thanks for the encouragment!
![]() I have to admit that I couldn't resist and I weighed myself again this morning... and I've dropped another 3 lbs! I'm REALLY excited about this, but I'm also wondering if it's normal to drop this quickly!? I've been averaging 2 lbs per day so far. Until I hear otherwise, I'm going to stay excited and take what I can get... plus, I'm sure it will slow down sometime... Best of luck to all of us! Today's Menu: B- lc Monster drink, garlic stuffed olives, egg salad on lc tortilla (10) L- pepperoni, mozzarella sticks, lc yogurt (4) S- 2 hb eggs (0) D- grilled chicken, veggies with cheese (4) TOTAL = 18 |

You're doing so good. My loss came quickly at first too. 20 lbs in the first 23 days -- and now I have gone 3 days with no loss.... just waiting for the next whoosh.
Congratulations! 13 lbs gone is awesome. I believe you are going to surpass your short term goal with flying colors. It is such a wonderful feeling isn't it. It really seems to help me to see others doing good ---- keeps me motivated to stay on track with lc woe. Have an awesome week! Looks like you're off to a great start. |

hey darlin..
yip.. its ok.. these first weeks you will loose alot.. .. I did great like this the last time.. but I will tell you.. I came to a huge halt for like months.. and nothing .. then I messed at at Christmas time and it took me a full year to get things rolling again.. so I want to tell you DO NOT take a cheat week just keep doing what your doing.. I stayed in here during my year.. and watched everyone else stick with it and they started losing again.. they say it takes your body time to catch up with your losses.. so STICK to this no matter what ok.. I ended up gaining back most of the 80 I lost.. so please Stick with it !!have a great day!! ![]() |

Thanks Fancy and Monet for the heads up! I am definitely planning to stick with this wao, but I know that it will be discouraging if/when the scale doesn't show an improvement... maybe now I'll be able to expect it!? I AM DOING THIS!!!
So, today is my OFFICIAL weigh-in day (because it's my one week Atkinsversary!)... and it says that I'm at 347... one pound up from yesterday (I think it may have had something to do with the LC Monster drink or having so many carbs at breakfast?)... BUT, I'm still down 12 lbs in just one week and I am completely encouraged by that! I'm going to REALLY try to not weight myself more than once before next Tuesday... and drink more water. I'm also thinking that I'm going to start posting my menus either at night or the following day because I keep changing a few things (usually dinner) and can't edit them... so I want them to be more accurate. I hope you are all having a great week so far! |

Yesterday's Menu:
B- lc wrap with mayo and turkey (4) L- 2 dill pickles, ham, cf tea (3) D- carl's jr lc burger, diet soda (5) S- pepperoni with mozzarella (2) TOTAL = 14 My hubby weighed in yesterday, and he's lost 4 lbs so far (which I think is great considering he's 6'5" and started off around 220)! I have to say, I'm glad I 'beat' him, but more importantly, I'm so grateful that he's doing this with me and being so extremely supportive. He's NEVER been on a "diet" before (I can't quite wrap my mind around that since I can't remember when I've NOT been on a diet of some kind or another)! So, it's even more special to me that he's willing to help me! At the same time, he continually tells me how beautiful and sexy he thinks I am and how he just wants to help me lose weight so I'll be healthier... he's not perfect, but what a prince! Anyway, I'll post today's menu tomorrow... so far, so good! ![]() |
