Write the vision, and make it plain...Tamekia's Victory

OK, here goes. I am no stranger to journals. I've written in a personal life journal since the age of 10 and continue to do so but I guess it was all a matter of "opening up". I actually started writing a journal for the board last Friday but decided NOT to post it because although it was truly a journal entry (how I feel, how I got here,my plans, etc.) it was really long.

Since I've become a member of lowcarbfriends.com, I have truly been motivated to stay focused. It has truly helped and the numbers don't lie (neither does the scale).

When I began "lurking" this board (August 30th) I weighed 219. When I weighed this morning I was down to 209.4. I am very motivated and it's primarily due to my new low carb friends!!! Thanks to everyone. I will eventually post my initial journal entry. It's looooong but I am going to post it because it's to remind me why I can't go back.

I have been successful with low carbs and high protein.

8/30 219
9/17 215.4
9/18 213.8
9/19 212.2
9/20 214.2
9/21 213
9/22 213.4
9/23 211.2
9/24 210.4
9/25 209.4

Thanks

Thank you guys for stopping by "The Journal". Yes, it was indeed a leap but I have been having great success so I wanted to share it with you all . It's been your journals, thoughts and input that has actually helped me.

I must admit my stats are impressive to me as well and although they are impressive I realize that I have such a long way to go. But........

I'm in it to win it!!!!!

Janice, journals are such an asset. I LOVE to read and write. Sometimes I thumb through my old journals and take a trip down memory lane. Some things I have actually forgotten and then when I read what I have written, I begin to remember them like yesterday. That is one reason I believe I am going to post my initial journal so that it can serve as a reminder ofTHEN and why I do not want to return there. I hope your daughter begins to write in her journal. She won't regret it.

Hello,
I hope your are having a blessed morning.
Girl I made pizza last night using a pizza dough recipe I found some where on this site.
I really liked it.
My family had homemade pizza and I can't eat it.

Brought some for lunch today.
I was glad it turned out pretty good. Alot of recipes I try may or may not pass my taste test. If you know what I mean.

Talk Later,
Janice

Janice,

Are you saying that you did or did not eat the pizza? I want to try it. It seems like you were saying you made the homemadepizza and only your family ate it.

My morning is going very good. Just trying to stay positive around negative people.(same ol' same ol')

Sorry it took so long to reply.
Yes I did eat the Low carb pizza I made.
My son loves to make Homemade pizza and I cannot eat it because of the carbs.
I used this recipe below. I've had this recipe for a year and thought I would try it. I did not add the green peppers because I was out you can add delete any toppings.

9/26/2007

Weighed in this morning at 209.

9/25/2007 209.4; Yesterday was a very good day for me.......in spite of.

B Protein shake
S 2 strips of bacon
L Chicken Caesar Salad w/dressing
S Peanuts
D Chicken Caesar Salad w/dressing

This morning
B Protein Shake
S 2 strips of bacon
L Protein Shake
S ????
D Gooey Mexican Hamburger Casserole

I have noticed that my old habits (eat just because) want to show its ugly face. I was used to eating almost anything in a small portion (one million carbs and all) and on yesterday, I was DETERMINED not to do that. And then it happened. My co-worker/friend was hungry all day yesterday and had no problem voicing it. So after report she was ready to eat breakfast and frankly, I was not hungry but out of habit I went down to the cafeteria with her and bought 2 strips of bacon. I made that my snack because I had already drank my shake and was full!!. My intention was to drink a protein shake for lunch but when lunch time came she asked if I was going to eat lunch or have a shake. When I said I was going to drink a shake she said, "You looked kind of weak yesterday, maybe you need to eat today." After battling with her about NOT being weak but was just tired from a busy evening the day before, I bought a Starbuck's chiken caesar salad. We usually have an afternoon snack in the afternoon after things have died down a little so when 4:00 came she went and got each of us a bag of white cheddar cheese popcorn but I had brung peanuts as my afternoon snack. So I took the bag, opened it, ate 2 popcorns and nicely placed the bag in my lunch bag and got my peanuts out and ate it. I should have stuck to my original plan earlier. I was kind of upset with myself for going against what I had planned. That was totally out of character for me to have someone alter what I have planned to do. I knew I was not really hungry when I was persuaded to eat and just because I went to the cafeteria with her to get her lunch did not mean I had to buy lunch for myself. I knew the shake was going to fill me but no...........I went against my own will. Today is a new day and I am sticking with my meal plan. She has already started harping on being hungry. Oh well.

Tamekia I am sorry to hear your co-worker is being unsupportive it sounds like they are even trying to sabotage you.

My grandmother used to have me read Psalms 70 when I was having problems at school. Maybe this scripture can help you at work.

Consider taking a caloric approach to your plan as well as a carb approach which might allow you more foods to help or get some tea you like and drink that in between snack and meals. These are two of the things I’ve tried. First I started with calories and carbs (I was a little bit more liberal with carbs than you probably want to be) then as I started reducing calories I added tea to help with the hunger.

Fortunately my co-workers are very supportive and this really makes all the difference. If you can/if it’s possible, try and find another person that wants to lose a few pounds and form and alliance with them.

As far as calories… find your daily allowance, BMR, and subtract a few hundred calories and try and stay within that window. For example my BMR is 1700 and I try to eat no more than 1300 calories (when I’m focusing well) this makes for a deficient of 400 calories.

Since it takes 3500 calories to lose or gain a pound, in 8 days I would lose 1 pound if I did nothing else. Add exercise and ketosis to this equation and you decrease the amount of days it takes to lose 1 pound.

Sorry if I’m sharing something you already know, I’m just trying to be helpful.

Oh no mstamika. Please do not apologize for helping me. Everything you posted was information I can definitely use. Thanks a million!!!

Yes, I agree, my co-worker is not supportive. It was all good when we were losing weight together but the good thing is I am used to doing things by myself (being an only child has trained me well). I lost weight "alone" before and I guess I will have to do it again (of course along with you guys).

Hang in there Tamekia,
My Co-workers always complain about their weight, start a diet stop the next day or a couple days after. They always complain about what I eat, I just tell them if you are not eating it don't complain. They stuff their mouth with tons of sugar every day and complain about their ailments.
I have worked here 6 years and we had no diabetics (10 workers). Now we have 3 diabetics out of the 10.

Today is a great day regardless towhat it looks like. It is a GREAT DAY!!!

I missed you guys on yesterday!!!

Thanks for dropping in everyone. I'm doing just fine

Nkechi, enjoy yourself outside of working so hard when you come to Charleston on Monday.
The weather here has been great so pack in anticipation of warm to hot days.

This week has been hected and the week to come will be worse but I'm soooo proud of myself as well as my friends on the board.

We are doing the dang thang!!!

Yesterday I did not log on at all as I was preparing for the upcoming wedding. I've been helping the bride tie up last minute things as well as getting me and my children's dresses adjusted, shoes, sons' tuxes etc, etc..

I was lost. I can definitely say "I'm addicted to the lowcarbfriends board." Once I was finished with helping her it was time for my son's football game and once that was over I was ready to shower, drink a protein drink and hit the bed. And that is exactly what I did.

All and all I did OK with my food intake on yesterday. It could always be worse. I could have stopped at Sonics like she wanted to and had that coney meal deal topped with chilli and cheese, fried jalepenos and a cherry limeade!!!!!(Sounds good)

Hello,
Girl I could not have eaten the pringles or cc cookie with out bingeing.
I have to stay away from them.
It's good to know that you can eat carbs and stay on track.
Congrats on your weight loss.
I know you are proud.

Janice,

Trust me, I wanted to eat the whole can of Pringles but I didn't.
Yes, my falls are with those dang carbs and that is what makes my "watch" hard. I'm proud but not satisfied (yet). Not even remotely satisfied.

Hello girly! Just spreading a little love around your journal! You are doing a fantastic job, and you will soon see the inches melt away!

In regards to the lack of support from your co-workers... You don't have to go it alone - you have us! You will find more than enough support around here to make up for it! In her face! When you are skinny and she is on whatever fad awful diet, there will be a moment of truth!
