Another Attempt at getting fit.
Hey. I'm Mari, and im 19. This is my second go at the atkins diet. The first time i tried it i gave up after almost 2 weeks. It's just that i was surrounded by so much food that i wasn't supposed to eat that i just gave in. This time around i threw out all the non-lowcarb foods that i had. EVERYTHING!
Just so that i wouldn't be tempted. Its now been a week that i've been dieting, and its getting alittle easier. I'm still craving for foods like Pizza, or pancakes, bread.. I'm hanging in there though. I've already lost 6 pounds. My cousin is on this diet as well so i guess it works as support. My goal is to go back to 135 pounds. I haven't really been working out yet, i'm going to start next month, since my cousin is getting me a free membership to bally's. The hard thing right now is saying NO to my cravings. Its so hard. My mouth is watering right now thinking of a pizza, but i think about it this way. Yeah, the pizza tastes good, but after i eat it i'm just going to feel bad about myself for giving in. I'm going to feel fat and stuff. So instead of feeling bad, i'm just not going to eat it at all. I've been drinking Atkins chocolate shakes that have 1g of Net carbs and it tastes just like chocolate milk. One a day. It helps when i need to taste some sugar. It also fills me up for a long time. If i want a snack i either have a bag of pork rinds or a little cup of Dannon light yogurt. Its so hard right now. I cant wait to be at my goal weight, but sometimes i wonder how long i can keep this up ![]() |

All willing to answer any questions you might have. Congratulations on your 6 lb. loss. Keep going you are just 4 lbs. away from 10 and that is motivating. |

Time : 1 WEEK 2 Days
It's about 1:52 AM. I can't seem to sleep because i slept ALL DAY TODAY. I felt really tired and i just had NO energy. I haven't really ate much today, I'm pretty sure i didn't even make 15 carbs today. It's not that I'm trying to starve myself its just that all the foods that i CAN eat seem unappealing to me, or i just have no appetite. I re-read some of the Induction articles in the Atkins.com website.. (Atkins - Atkins Phases) and according to the accepted foods i haven't been eating what i should be eating. I've been eating the light yogurts, and im not even sure if the Atkins shakes are good for induction I'll have to look that up. Ugh. I also went up one pound 170, and yeah im pretty disappointed. Although i know that it is common for the weight to go up and down during the day, but i just cant get myself away from that scale. Looking at the '6' made me feel good like if i was closer to my goal. My mini goal is 159~ I also have this bad breath that just wont go away, no matter how much i brush or use Listerine. It's gross. I've started drinking more water to try and help that. I'm fighting hard with myself to fight the temptation that im feeling. I feel like getting up right now and making some pancakes. Or making a sandwich. God, that sounds so good. I've been chewing my nails a lot. I guess when i get tempted to eat and fight with myself i tend to bite my nails. .. I guess, no one said this would be easy. I also decided to EXTEND my induction since the first week i started off wrong(with the yogurt and stuff). I t will end on OCT 10. Yeah.. extended by two more weeks. That means i'd have a month on induction by that time! My other side goal apart from the 159lb one is that. by Halloween i want to look at least decent in my costume.. (I'm going to be a cat girl) Oh hey! I was watching the Tyra banks show the other day, and she had these four women of different ages and weights try a Nivea product. I think it was called "Good bye Cellulite", I'm going to have to Google the exact name. Anyways, the results were amazing! It really did work. It took about a month of daily application though, but hey. It works. I'm going to try it out I have cellulite on my thighs and some on my butt. I want it gone! It'd probably help even more when i start hitting the gym.All i have to do now is figure out how to get rid of these stretch marks. 1 WEEK DAY and 2 DAYS
Miniie here. It's 9:45am. I did manage to go to bed last night after watching some discovery channel. I woke up at 7:00AM and i decided that i should go for a walk. So i got dressed quickly before i changed my mind. I'm not a fan of exercise. By 8:00 i was out of the house and walking. I walked to the park, where i walked around this track for quite a while, and jogged for one lap.. When my heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest i started speed walking again. After and hour i walked home.. And decided to walk up the stairs. I live on the 6th floor of my building so it was a long way up. I was sweating all over by the time i got home. After i took a shower, man it felt so good. I'm hoping i can do it again tomorrow. I weighed myself again, and i went back to 169.0. I cant wait to aleast go down to 165. Its going to feel lot closer to the '5's. I can't wait till my boyfriend gets home so i can tell him this. I feel really good about myself, and im more determined today than i was yesterday. My boyfriend is probably the reason i got so over weight. I lived in seattle acouple of months back, and i was practically living with him. Hes tall, and has an amazing slim body. All he eats is JUNK FOOD! Pizza, hotpockets, soda, ice cream, and he never gains weight. He doesnt even have one roll of fat. While i was staying with him he'd make me burgers and give me all his junk food. So i guess i gained tons of weight. Now i'm in NYC so i guess that helps. We are still dating, doing the long distance thing. I'm an emotional eater, and when im down i tend to over eat alot. Sometimes i get depressed because there are so manythings going on that i just stuff myself, but NOT ANYMORE. I'm going to make this work out for me, and get that body i've always wanted. I just want to feel good about myself and i guess everything else will improve. Being without Jeff (BF) gets me down sometimes, but i just think that.. we knew each other for 1 year before we started dating and were together for 5 months before we met in person ( online dating) then together for about 3 months. I wont see him again until next summer when he comes to NYC. We can make it. We've already stuck it out before. Ultimately, im doing this for me, but I'd love that by the time he comes to see me i'll look really good. I want him to stand back and say "WOW, that's my girl". He tells me he loves me just the way i am, but. I don't love me the way i am. Being overweight affects you in so many ways. Some people just dont realize. It affects your relationships with other people, the way you go about your life, everything. Writting this journal is helping me alot. It helps to vent out some of the tension i have. I'll end this entry by saying this.. Low carb friends, I'm going to work hard, and i will reach my goal! I'm looking foward to the HAPPIER, HEALTHIER ME! |

This is Week 1 DAY 3.
Just came back from my morning walk/run, and it feels great. I'm feeling kind of bloated though, and i havent lost any weight since monday. On my way back from my run i stopped by the pharmacy to pick up a laxative of some sort. I was there for like half an hour! I wasn't sure which to get so i asked some lady that worked there and she said that Dulcolax is really good. We'll see. I'm kind of down because of this stall,but its ok i'm sticking to it. My dad came back from my country yesterday and brought me food. I'm thinking of eating it.. I don't want to let it go to waste.. but then i dont really want to cheat. It's not like they sell that kind of stuff here so i'm fighting the urge. I think i might eat it though.. Just so that it wont spoil It's my favorite! |

Hang in there you will lose. I would like to make a suggestion. Try to eat really clean during indution. For example, no shakes, sugar substitutes, bars, etc. Have dinner items for breakfast. Grill some hamburgers and keep them in the refrigerator. Warm in the morning and dip in bit of mustard. Have chicken breasts and broccoli for lunch. Have fish or chicken for dinner with asparagus or a small salad with oil and vinegar. You will begin to lose.
You will do much better on Atkins if you stay away from the packaged low carb items. I had a friend who started the same time I did and she has lost nothing (using low carb products here and there) and I have not. I've lost 5 lbs. in the same time (only I am eating clean). Best of Luck

Thanks TG! I think i'm just going to start all over again tomorrow. I've been drinking the Atkins shakes and sometimes the morning start bars. I'll know this time to save it till after Induction.

Thanks for the support. Today I've been feeling extremely sick. I feel so bloated as if i over ate something, but i haven't ate anything i'm not supposed to eat.
For breakfast i had a atkins shake, and then for lunch i had a chicken salad, and for dinner i had chicken with broccoli. In small porportions. Some how i've gained weight again 2 pounds. I'm 171 now. I'm not quite sure what is going on, but hopefully when i restart my diet i will stop gaining/stalling and just lose lose lose. ![]() |

Okay. I ran into a little problem. Yesterday i got my tongue pierced. I don't know why i thought that would be a good idea being on a diet and all. So i haven't really been able to eat anything.. My tongue is like swollen twice its size. I've been drinking water and sucking ICE all day. I did manage to drink a lowcarb milkshake, and it seems i'll have to keep drinking low carb things. I can imagine that my metabolism will slow down. The person who did it said it should be fine in a week. Gah! A week with like so little food..

Ok. I know i haven't really said how i've been going for a couple of days.. That's because i wasnt really eating anything. My tongue swelling went down and now i can eat pretty well. I ate some Chicken, and brocolli for dinner that was so good. I haven't been out running.
I'm somewhat depressed, but im fighting the urge to cheat. Whenever i get depressed i tend to over eat. I won't weigh in everyday, because i want to surprise myself. SO i guess at the end of the week i'll weigh myself. I'm not even sure what weight i am at now, so.. I just hope i don't get disappointed! |

OK!. I have to admit. I've been cheating for a while. I just started induction three days ago on tuesday. My mom let my cousin borrow my scale for a bit and i just got it today. I was surprised that i actually lost 2 pounds and i was cheating so much. No more. I mean when i cheated i ate fries from mcdonalds. :X I know..It's bad.
So ok. I'm 167 at the moment, and i hope to lose alot more. I'm scared. I keep wondering how my stomach will look after i reach my goat weight. I don't want my stomach to sag, and thats the thing that scares me the most.. What can i do to prevent that? If i can? Anywho. YAY 167. |

What in the world?! I went to sleep as 167, and this morning i woke up as 163.. I had to get on and off my scale like 5 times to see if it was busted or something... Wow I feel great. I recently got the 10 in 10 Callanetics video so i'll start doing that. I heard great things about it.

Lately I've been feeling with less energy. I sleep in alot later now, and i'm really tired most of the day. I guess it's expected on the first week of induction. I'm almost on my 2nd week, which feels great. I haven't had the urge to cheat at all. I'm still at 163, but i'm not going to weigh-in again till the end of this week. Just so that i can surprise myself. I've noticed that through out the day your weight goes up and down so when i woke up in the morning i was at 163.2 then after i ate in the afternoon i went to 165 and in the morning i was back at 163.
I've been doing the 10 in 10 callanetics. Not completely.. Not yet! I cant get through the whole program yet haha. I do about 30 minutes of it. So i'm not really going to count my hours until i can do a full hour! lol I feel it working though! So i'm pretty happy. |

So this is now 1 week and 3 days into induction, and this week i haven't lost any weight at all.. Inf act the scale says i'm 164 other days 165.. Even 166 at times. It's just bouncing around. I'm not sure why.. I've been eating salads, and meats.. I'm probably thinking its because i haven't been going to the bathroom much.. This seems to always be a problem with me, even when i'm not on a diet. I've told my doctor before but all she ever recommends is to increase my fiber intake.. I'm not really sure what i can use for fiber on this diet.. I was thinking flaxseed.. Hmm. I also think, that maybe im just losing inches not weight.. I can't my measuring tape because we recently packed all our stuff.
Oh! by the way, I have now done 2 hours of callanetics.. I think this is a work out i can really stick too. Its really easy and it doesnt hurt my back like sit ups do! I've been really tired lately.. I drank a sugar free redbull.. Only has 3 carbs but im not sure if im supposed to be drinking that. It's just that.. I get up at 5am and say in the hospital sometimes till 7pm soo yeah.. Anyways. I'm doing good. At work today they had pizza, and lord knows how much i LOVE pizza, but i was able to look at it, and just ignore it.. My mouth didn't even water.. I'm amazed even . lol |

Hey everyone. I thought i'd update. So Tomorrow is the last day for induction, but im going to extend it for another 2 weeks.. Since i had a 1 week stall. Seems like my body took a bit to adjust itself to the weight loss. No biggie. I've grown accostumed to eating low carb and i rarely get cravings. I do however want to try this recipie for a lowcarb payday candy, but that will have to wait till after induction.
I've now completed 3 hours of callanetics, and i've bought the quick stomach dvd too. I was browsing the callenetics challenge thread and i guess it would be a cool idea to do 10 in 10 one day then the stomach, and in that pattern. I can already feel diffrent, i feel like my arms are getting tighter, and my abs were sore last weekend which is why i waited till today to do it again haha. Its one hell of a work out, but its getting easier, and i really enjoy the stretching portion.. I need it! I'm so tense. I'll post pics soon.. So i hope everyone is doing well.. I'll find a measuring tape soon also. lol ![]() |

Grawr. I guess my stall and unexplained weight gain wasn't over. This morning i weighed in at 166.It's so disappointing, but im not going to quit.. I've read that this kind of stall is normal and usually lasts 2-3 weeks.. So no worries i'm good.
I started taking a glass of water with metamucil 2 teaspoons 3 times a day and in addition to that 2 aloe vera pills daily. I finally went to the bathroom today which was a big thing for me. I hadnt went since i last took that dulcolax. That was like a week or so ago? So yeah i was pretty darn happy. I've completed 4 hours of callanetics, and 40 mins of the Quick stomach ones. I feel pretty proud of myself that i've been able to keep this up for alittle over a week haha. ![]() I think that another reason why im not losing as much is because im not drinking as much water.. So i have to work on that. I broke out the measuring tape today and my waist was 35! last time i checked it was 40.. 5 inches thats great <3 Next time i re measure will be next month to see how the callanetics worked out for me.
