For the last time!
Im not big on journaling but I think its something I need to start doing regularly. I think it will be a good tool to look back on as far as progress and for motivation.
I am a mom of 3 wonderful kids and will be married 11 yrs this coming November. I spent most of my life overweigt, I was always a big kid. After I had my last son in October 2004, I decided I had been fat long enough and made a major change. I used Atkins to go from 254 to 160 in 10 months. I loved it, I loved the way I looked and felt. I loved my clothes, loved shopping and I for once felt like I was taking care of me. I was proud of myself and felt like I could do anything I wanted to do. Well, I kept that frame of mind until July 2006 when the weight started creeping back on. First it was 10 pounds, then it was 30, and by Aug 2007 I had gained back all but 11 pounds of what I had lost. Im not a person who gets depressed but this ate at me. I put myself down for it, I thought negative things, how in the world could I let myself gain all this weight back? I was an idiot. I hate the way I look, cant wear any of my clothes, dont want to go anywhere, I feel like crap, I dont want to get out of bed in the morning, I jsut want to stay at home. This really got to me. After several attempts at trying to get back on Atkins and failing I realized I was tired of bing a failure, I was tired of people telling me that they couldnt tell I had gained weight to keep from hurting my feelings. Hellos..Ive gained 74 pounds. That brings me to here, I was a member at another BB and I have been lurking over there but out of shame I couldnt bring myself to post there again. I had a major fall and was down for a long time but I got up, dusted off, and am back in the game. I realized that getting back up meant that I wasnt a failure, that I wanted this and no matter how many times I screw up the only thing that matters is getting back in the game. I decided it was time for a fresh, new start. I want to make this one permanent. I always missed being on Atkins cause I felt so wonderful. I had energy, I had a desire to do stuff, I didnt feel bloated, I was never hungry, I enjoyed exercise, I was just a happy person in general. Today I am 7 days in on my Induction and so happy that I am back. I am down 14 pounds already, the most I have ever lost on an Induction given the fact that my last succesful attempt (2004) I lost 16 pounds during the whole 2 week Induction phase. Its gonna be a long road, I have alot to lose but I have every belief that I will get there. I hope to make many friends here and be able to give and recieve support and Im looking forward to journaling my process. ![]() |

So Im bored and dont have anything to do and I thought I would come write a little bit more.
Over the last few days, I have noticed severe dry mouth..even though Im drinking plenty of water, and that queasy feeling. The queasiness comes and goes in a few minutes time, but its like all of a sudden I feel like I may have to go throw up and a minute or so later Im fine. I must be in some deep ketosis. Right? I have never experienced such a deep level of ketosis before. Cravings are gone, which is a great thing. I havent done any exercise yet, Im going to go buy one of those light weight strollers so I can go for walks during the day with my youngest while my 2 oldest are in school. I figure that would be a great opportunity to give him some fresh air/outdoor time while getting exercise in. Im hoping he will cooperate, he usually wants to get out and play so I may have to find a plan B. I have quite a few videos to fall back on if that doesnt work out. Ok, gonna go get some lunch now. (Tuna salad) |

Just finished up my supper, made it through the day without a singel cheat! That makes 7 days without cheating. I did have a Diet Lipton Green Tea, but I think thats legal as long as I count the carbs for sweetner in it. For some reason I was thinking it was made with splenda but looking on the bottle it says aspartame. Maybe it wont stall me much. Trying to do DANDR to the T, guess I should have read the label before I drank..oops.
Menu for today was: B-2 fried eggs, 1 sausage Snack-20 oz Lipton Green Tea L-1 can of tuna w/1 tsp mayo Snack-1 oz cheddar cheese Supper-Egg salad (3 eggs), 1 tbsp mayo, 3/4 c steamed broccoli and 3 brussels sprouts. 80 oz water down so far No exercise today (gotta get on that) Still feeling great, I did get a little tired around 3 so I layed down and watched a few minutes of tv and then I was fine. I am having a craving, but its for Induction legal food..I want wings! I think I may go in the morning and get me some to cook for lunch. Those would hit the spot and soooo yummy. |

Thanks for you positive words Debra! I sure hope so!
Today has gone well so far, I dont have much appetite at all. This morning for breakfast I melted 1/4 c. grated cheese in a pan, let it cool for a minute cut it in half and wrapped my 2 pieces of sausage in it, I wanted to put sour cream on it,(extra fat) but checked fridge and you guessed it I was out lol. Checked weight this morning and still holding steady at 229, which I figure it good, atleast its not going up. Ive been reading on here about CLA/GLA and I really want to try it out. Ive took CLA in the past but never realized the benefits were so good and never took it regularly enough to notice anything. Also in the past I dont think I took the right dosage, I usually only took one pill. So this is something Im really considering. Although Ive lost the 14 pounds I havent went down in sizes yet but pants are getting a little loose and I hope another 10 pounds I can fit in 16. Im in 18's now but pushing a 20 (well before restart) Im looking forward to hitting that point where every 2-3 weeks I get to go down a size. I checked my closet and there will be no need for shopping. Last time doing Atkins I rewarded myself for every 10 pounds lost with buying a piece or 2 of clothing. I have 32 pairs of jeans ranging from size 16-10. I guess thats good, I dont have to spend a fortune on clothes throughout the losses. It will be like having new clothes anyway since some of the stuff was only worn for 1-2 months at the most (especially from size 14-12) I am looking forward to fall coming around, the weather here has been so hot, its cooled down a bit now but for the 3 weeks before now temps were over 100. Poor hubby works outside in it and I know it took alot out of him. Well I was just feeling a little chatty and thought I would write another entry! ![]() |

Menu for today
Breakfast : 1/4 c cooked cheese wrapped around 2 sausage links Lunch: 4 oz ground beef, 1 whole lettuce leaf, mayo, pickles, cheese, mustard (bunless burger) Supper: 4 oz ground beef, 1/2 c lettuce, 1 tbsp sour cream, pinch of cheese, 1 tbsp taco seasoning Water is looking good so far, Ive drank about 75 oz. Went to walmart looking for CLA and Borage oil. They didnt have CLA, when I asked the pharmacist about it he acted like he had never heard of it. duhh Got a bottle of borage oil but I think its the wrong thing cause goofy me didnt think to look on the ingredients for GLA, get home realize its nothing but vit E, borage oil, getlatin and glycerin. Oh well, it says it supports healthy skin and nails. Every woman could use a little bit of that so I guess I will take it until I can get the right formula of borage. Guess Im gonna have to get the CLA from netrition. Thats fine with me cause I think its cheaper on there. I thought about exercising today, but I figured wait a few more days, get adjusted to the eating and then add the exercise. Dont want to dive in too deep just yet. Im beginning to like the idea of journaling. I bought myself a pack of diet 7up today, I know Dr A strongly reccomends not drinking soda with aspartame but I think I will treat myself to one a day. If I see a stall I will quit indulging, just gotta see. I know everybody is different, maybe I can get away with the 1 a day. Well thats about all I can think of right now, maybe I will get to update my stats again in the next few days. Im keeping fingers crossed! |

Checked weight this morning, still holding at 229, although I didnt see the scale go down I actually felt slimmer this morning! Inches count also! I need to dig my tape measure out and take measurements. Just finished my breakfast..3 eggs scrambled in 1 tbsp butter and drank 40 oz of water already. Of to a good start for the day if I say so myself!

Checked the scale this AM, still standing at 227. I need to quit doing the daily weight thing and start maybe doing a weigh every other day. Im just so anxious when I get up in the mornings to see if I have lost anything more.
I am pleased at how well I have stuck to plan this time after trying to get back on the right path (Atkins) so many times and making it 2 or 3 days and sometimes not even until lunch on the first day. I guess that 'thing' just clicked in my head again where you make your mind up and decide to go full force for it. A funny thing happened today, and I know it is gonna sound strange to others. But, I was eating my lunch, about half way done with it and got up to go put cartoons on for my 2 yr old. I come back, sit down in my chair (plate of food sitting right in front of me) and after about 5 minutes I realized that I had been eating and my plate with half the food was still sitting in my face and I never even thought about it. The mental hunger must have left me now as I obviously was satisfied and the plate of food never caught my second glance. Normally I would have eaten it just because it was there. It feels good now to take the focus off of FOOD! So far my menu today has looked like this B: 3 sausage and 1/4 c cheese melted (sausage rolled in cheese) L: 1/2 c cabbage fettucine and small steak No snacks so far 1 diet 7up 32 oz water (a little behind today) The cabbage fettucine is yummy btw, Im gonna keep this recipe around. |

Christy you're doing great. Please keep up the good work. The scale lies more often than it tells the truth, remember that. Treat it like it's a man, and you'll be fine.

^^^Definitely, and I tend to have a bad day if the scales go up, even by just a pound or so. But so far its been going good. I have felt a little bloated today so I think Im going to skip weighing tomorrow and Monday and check it on Tuesday. Ive been snacking a bit too much today on pork skins and I know they tend to make me hold water. Im thinking tomorrow doing really low carb like 10 or so just to get back in a deep ketosis and drinking alot of water. I overdid it with crystal light today too. Weekends are my worst when all the kids and dh are home. I tend to be a little less strict with myself. I have no trouble during the week when I home alone sticking to a strict plan.
Todays menu Breakfast: 3 sausages Lunch: nothing Supper: wings 7 pcs with ranch dressing and 3 celery stalks water: not much, had way too much crystal light today Snacks: way too many pork skins and 1 oz cheese |

Today is the 14th day of my 2 week Induction. I feel that I have done a great job, no cheats at all! I will weigh tomorrow AM to get the final total of my Induction weight loss and I plan to continue on for a few more weeks at Induction level intake. Also starting tomorrow I will begin adding in exercise, I have several workout dvd's and vhs videos. I think I will start with a 1 mile walk away the pounds video 3 times a week and increase it every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. I will also start doing cruches and core exercises on my exercise ball to start the toning process and then later on add in some weights for the arm area. I think I will start with 30 crunches each day, everyday and increase by 10 or 20 each week following. Also I think I should quit drinking the diet drinks and stick to water and maybe an occasional crystal light. My long term goal, which really isnt long term is to be at a minimum of 190 by Christmas. That leaves 37 pounds to be lost over the next 16 weeks. That averages out to about 2.3 pounds per week. If I meet that goal before the middle of November then I will aim for 180 by Christmas.
Ok, just wanted to update on what my plans are after the initial 2 week Induction and have a plan down. Menu for today looks like this so far Breakfast: got up too late to eat Lunch: leftover t-bone Dinner: will be a bunless burger with mayo, mustard, pickles, lettuce, tomato and onion. Water for the day as of now is about 40 oz and I had a 20 oz diet lipton green tea Be back later with an update |

Thanks kmf! Im doing so well Ive started wondering why I ever left Atkins in the first place! Good luck to you on your restart! Adorable kids in your avi btw!
So...I have more good news! The scale showed 223 this morning! Ms Whooshy Fairy is being generous to me, I hope when she leaves she comes back shortly lol. My sweet mom came for a visit today, hasnt seen me since the day I restarted Atkins, said she could tell I am slimming down already! I hope she was being honest and wasnt just trying to say what she thought I wanted to hear. Shes like that, I think most moms are. ![]() We went and did some more grocery shopping together, nothing like having a good conversation while eyeing a pack of t-bones on sale lol. It was a super deal and I got a pack of 4 for $15.00 I havent decided if I will let hubby enjoy these lovely pieces of meat with me or if I will just not tell him and freeze them individually for lunches later on. Yes I am bad! ![]() So far my menu today looks like this B: 2 slices fried bacon and 1 fried egg in bacon grease (32 oz water) L: small salad with mushrooms, baon bits, ranch and cheese and 2 eggs scrambled in 1/2 tbsp butter Diet Sunkist (yes I know I said I wasnt going to drink anymore :\ ) Need to work on more water today and getting some exercise in. Not sure what supper will be. Either some wings or steak! Mmmmm Both sound yummy! |
