Deb's mid-year resolution

OK. I am really committed to this. I am going to start my journal today, and record my food/excercise log, as well as my obstacles. Maybe if I see them in writing, they will be easier to overcome in the future.

Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled cooked in butter (1 gram)
2 deli thin slices of low sodium ham (.5 gram)
1 oz shredded mexican cheese blend (.5 gram)
1 low carb whole wheat taco size tortilla (4 grams)
16 oz water with squeeze of lemon (1 gram)

Total carbs: 7

Off to a good start. Lets see how the rest of the day goes. Will be swimming this afternoon with the kids.

The rest of the day was really busy. Getting the kids to swim lessons, etc.

Quick lunch:

handful of raw almonds (3 gram)
Dannon carb control blueberry yogurt (3 gram)
bottled water 16 oz

Snack:

1 piece of jerky (2 gram)
bottle of water 16 oz

Dinner:
2 pieces of grilled chicken, skin on (0 grams)
1 whole wheat low carb taco size tortilla (4 grams)
1 cup mixed greens with cilatro and ranch (5 grams)
16 oz bottle of water (0 grams)
8 oz sugar free lemonade (>1 gram)

total carbs for the day: 24
water consumption:
64 ounces (need to work on that)
excercise: got a little swimming in during kids lessons. not enough. I am getting a tradmill on Sat. (a friend offered me her old one since she just got a new elliptical) I am really looking forward to having a decent indoor excercise alternative. It is too darn hot to go outside here!

Wow, if I hadn't kept track, I would have assumed I didn't even hit 20 carbs today. I think that this journal is going to work out well for me. I probably should have had either the yogurt or the almonds, but not both. I also should have had more veggies.

Thanks for the support Jhud and Airica! I know that this is going to have a really positive impact on me! Hopefully my scale will agree...

Day 2

Weight this morning: still 192. ugh.

Breakfast: 2 medium hard boiled eggs (1 gram)
1 slice provolone cheese (1 gram)
32 oz water

Lunch: 2 green chile chicken quiche "muffins" (3 grams)
2 tablespoons salsa (2 grams)
12 oz caffeine free diet Dr Pepper

Snack: 1 Atkins Advantage peanut butter bar (2 grams)
16 oz water

Dinner: Small piece of parmesan ranch baked chicken (1 gram)
mixed greens and celery (5 grams)
16 oz water

Total carbs: 15
Water consumption: 64 oz
Excercise: approx 20 min. light excercise. Sit ups, squats, lunges

Tomorrow PM I get the tredmill. It will be a good way to up the activity. It's going to be a busy day. Swim lessons early for both kids, afternoon playdate/lunch with my 3 year old. (Hope there are reasonable food options! I may just take a carb blocker before we go in, just in case!) Lots of yard work to do. Pick up treadmill. I probably won't get it set up and ready to use until Sunday.

Still, I think I have been really good this whole week with my food intake, and hope to see a drop the next weigh in. We'll see...

Today was a crazy day. Despite the odds, I remained pretty true to the diet and myself.

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs (1 gram)
2 sausage patties (0 grams)
16 oz water 0

Lunch: Salad with romaine 1
cucumber, 2
2 tomato slices 2
6 green olives 0
1 tbsp green onion 2
2 oz cubed colby/jack 1
2 tbsp ranch 1
16 oz water 0

Snack: 2 tbsp natural crunchy peanut butter 4
4 oz sugar free lemonade mixed with 0
12 oz water 0

Dinner: 1/2 cup ceasar salad (romaine, dressing, parmesan) 4
8 oz angus beef patty 0
2 slices colby/jack 1
2 slices bacon 0
1/2 cup steamed broccoli 4
12 oz Diet Coke 0

Snack: 3 buffalo chicken wings 2
16 oz water 0

Bedtime: 16 0z water 0

TOTAL CARBS: 25
EXCERCISE: 1 hour of yard work in ridiculous heat, light swimming with the kids
WATER CONSUMPTION: 76 oz

Not too bad. I could have planned a bit better and skipped the peanut butter. I had lunch around11:30 during playdate, and was starved at 4:00 PM when we got home, so I had the peanut butter. Later, DH said he wanted to go out for dinner. Calories and carbs a little higher than I would have liked, but seeing how lunch was out of my control, yet stayed on plan, was a big plus. Not falling off the wagon at one of my favorite restaurants: priceless!

Also, this has been a big birthday month so far. I have been faced with my biggest weakness 3 TIMES in the past week: Birthday Cake. Once at my office, my Dads birthday, and a kid party. Now if I can only get through both mine and my DS's Birthdays later this month, I will have made it. (mini goal!)

Was not able to pick up treadmill as planned today. My friend decided to go out for the day. Made plans to pick up tomorrow afternoon when kids are out with Grandma and Grandpa at "Diego Live". I really can't wait!

WOE: Atkins, chasing after my 2 and 4 year old boys!
Start Date: (1997, 2002, 2005) re-start June 1, 2007
Yesterday was another crazy day of running around. Got up early, took kids to church, stopped for breakfast, took kids to "Diego Live", PICKED UP TREADMILL (hooray!), shampood/vacuumed carpet, mopped floor, went grocery shopping. Still did 35 min on treadmill in evening after kids went to bed.

Breakfast: 3 egg omelet with mushrooms, bacon, fontina cheese (8 grams)
Iced tea with 2 lemon wedges (1 gram)
1 red seedless grape (OOPS! Accident while feeding baby!) (1 gram)

Lunch: none. I was honestly so full from late breakfast, I couldn't bear to eat. Perhaps next time I will eat a bar or shake early, and consider the large breakfast lunch.

Snack: 32 oz water
Diet Dr Pepper
I know this wasn't good. Will try not to do it again. Felt yucky after working on carpet and only wanted drink.

Dinner: Stir fried chicken with
onions, zucchini, mushrooms, celery, garlic and soysauce (about 12 grams)
water
crystal light lemonade

TOTAL CARBS: 22 grams
EXCERCISE: 30 min on treadmill, heavy housework, lots of running around and carrying kids.
WATER CONSUMPTION: about 72 oz. Lost track, drank lots throughout the day and after excercise.

I am not thrilled with my behavior here, but all in all, this weekend didn't go too bad. I really need to keep my meal schedule on track even on busy weekends. Plans just seem to go awry when DH is home and we have so many other things to work around.

I feel really bloated and backed up today, so I wont weigh in until tomorrow. I sure hope that the extra excercise will help to get me over this "speedbump".

Here goes. Monday felt like a successful day.

Breakfast: 1 Dannon carb & sugar control yogurt (3 grams)
Water 32 oz

Lunch: 2 tbsp tuna salad w/ mayo (1 gram)
2 tbsp egg salad w/ mayo (1 gram)
1 Wasa Fiber Crisp (6 grams)
Water 32oz

Snack: Atkins Advantage Shake - Strawberry (2 grams)
Water 16 oz

Dinner: 2 green chile chicken "quiche muffins" (homemade) (3 grams)
shredded cheddar 1 oz (1 gram)
2 tbsp salsa (2 grams)

Post excercise: 32 oz water

TOTAL CARBS: 19
EXCERCISE: 40 min on treadmill! Usual household stuff.
WATER CONSUMPTION: 112 oz! A record for me!

I really love the treadmill. I just need to get it in front of the tv, then I am sure the time will pass more quickly and I can do it longer. (Just need to get DH to carry it up the stairs. Ha)

Mom had the DS's for a couple of days, and DH and I always seem to feel the need to eat out whenever we have the opportunity with out the kids. I know I went over board. I will do better this week. It will be a rough one. Both DS #1 and my birthdays are this coming week. I pray I can stay on track. I am not going to get on a scale until Wed, after a few days of heavy duty induction.

Sounds like you are doing good. I just finished induction today (Sunday). I am going to stick to induction for another week or so. Would prefer to get to my goal weight before introducing other foods. I must say though, I feel as though I am running out of options. Thanks for posting your menu, gives me lots of ideas. Good luck. Please keep posting your success! It lifts my spirits for this diet!

Yesterday was pretty successful. Despite having to work a few hours at the office, and aa trip to the mall with my Mom and the kids, I did not falter. Actually, my Mom, who is classically and historically a "feeder", has been quite supportive since she saw the first 30pounds drop off. I am so thrilled. This is the first time in YEARS that she hasn't pressured me to eat at her house, or when we go out.

Breakfast: 32 oz water
Atkins Advantage Shake - Strawberry (2) not so good. better stick w/chocolate!
1 tablespoon all natural peanut butter (3)

Lunch: Triple Prime Cheddar Burger w/garlic mayo- no bun or fries (Ruby Tuesday-mmmm) (1)
Mixed green salad w/bleu cheese crumbles and balsamic vinegarette (5?)
water
diet coke

Dinner: Chicken breast
2 tablespoons of creamed spinach (HM- spinach, garlic, cream cheese) (4?)
32 oz water

TOTAL CARBS: 15
WATER: good
EXCERCISE:1+ hr mall walk w/ Mom, kids. Pushing stroller or carry child at all times.

Gotta be good today. Going to weigh in tomorrow. I hope I am on the right track.

Deb, I'm sorry I haven't posted here yet (almost did this morning) but I have been reading your journal for the past few days! I think you are doing fantastic! It is funny....we have the same journal format. I post my menu from yesterday...total carbs, water, exercise etc.! I also have boys in my house...3 of them (along with a little girl)...14.13,4,& 2. I love some of your exercise list! It reminds me of some of my exercise choices. I hope you have a great weekend! I will be sure to comment from now on!

Actually, I have been lurking around your journal for quite some time now, (long before I started mine) and you have been such an awesome inspiration, that I sort of modeled mine after yours! Oddly enough, I was going to post something to this effect on yours this AM, but then the phone rang, and had to get DS to school, and you know the drill. Your postings, menus, and busy lifestyle (with double the kidlings!) made me realize that if you had the time to keep this up, and were able to committ, then I might have a shot at it! I can't tell you how this has helped me. Thank you.

Today's Menu (Might not have time to get here tomorrow...)

Breakfast: homemade "quiche muffin" Egg, sausage, cheese, green peppers (1)
tablespoon of peanut butter (2)
liter of water

Lunch: the other half of yesterdays Atkin's peanut butter granola bar (1.5)
liter of water
(I know this wasn't good, was helping out at DS's school and that was all I had with me!)

Dinner: Grilled sirloin burger 8 oz
salad (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, ranch) (5)
Diet coke

Treat: 1 russel stover mini orange filled chocolate candy (.5)

TOTAL CARBS: 10
WATER: 2.5 liters
EXCERCISE: running after kids, pushing double stroller around the mall TWICE! and 40 min on treadmill.

I know that I didn't eat enough carbs today. I might have a small snack before bed to up it a bit. If I do, I'll post it later.

Tomorrow is going to be a REALLY big challenge. My best friends B-day is today, and mine is Monday. Her Mom takes us out to a special lunch every year to celebrate, and this year they chose a fave - Fondue. I pray that I can stay on plan! (If I can just leave before the chocolate one with the marshmallows and strawberries and CHEESECAKE chunks!) AGHHHH!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend! DH and I went out for fondue for my dad's birthday the end of July. I totally cheated on that meal!!! First time I have really cheated since starting LC. The chocolate was amazing I must say. But I planned to cheat and knew the consequences....weight gain, headache, feeling bloated. You just have to figure out is it worth it. You know...you can have a small taste and somethings that satisfies you enough and keeps you from bingeing. I do hope you can make it through and stay on plan but if not just don't sweat it and get back on plan the next day. Happy Birthday to you early!
