~~**~~I Want A Runner's High~~**~~

Can you be fit and fat?

I have no clue but because I lose at a snails pace only to gain it back the minute I even "look" at something off plan I began a journey to at least get fit no matter what my current size.

So, here I am in Week 5 of the Couch to 5K program.

I have my last workout for the week tomorrow. A little off schedule but as long as it gets done that's all that counts.....

I'm also doing Turbojam, Hip Hop Abs, Slim in 6, and Callanetics...along with a million other videos I have on hand and the stationary bike......Basically just picking what ever I'm in the mood for each day.

But my main goals through this all is to eventually be able to run for 1)time 30 minutes......2)then distance...a 5K.....and then once again 3)focusing on time to get that runners high that I've heard can kick in around 60 minutes.

I'd love to be able to run for a full 60 minutes one day......It would be so amazing.....

One day I will have the Runner's High.......and hopefully along the way I'll lose some weight as well.

Okay today is Day 3 of Week 5 of the C25K program and I'm honestly wondering if I'm going to be able to move on to W6.

I don't feel confident that I can do it.

I'll give it a try but if I can't do the full time I'll back off and do W5 again.

I'm also recommitting to my WOE again. I may never fully fall off the wagon but I've found that if I occasionally "recommit" it helps keep my spirits up.

So, I'm starting today feeling fresh and renewed and ready to have a great week.

Day 3 is DONE and I'm feeling a lot better than I expected.

Instead of taking tomorrow completely off I'm going to do a Walk 1/Run 1 program for my workout for at least 30 minutes and possibly for 60 minutes.

Then Wednesday will be Week 6 Day 1.

I guess I'm feeling a little more excited now that Day 3 didn't kill me.

I'm also Spot On eating wise today.

Just need to get better about my fluids.

Well, I thought about doing Week 6 this morning but when I woke up with TOM here for a visit I realized it wasn't going to happen and have been taking the day off to deal....

Hopefully tomorrow though like originally planned......

I'm attempting W6D1 today......

I'm so nervous......

My eating wasn't the greatest last night due to being attacked by the Poptart Monster.

Thanks Tracey for stopping by. You are too sweet!!

I forgot to pop on and say that yes I did accomplish W6D1 but it felt awful so I already know I'll be repeating it next week.

But heck at least I can say that I am in Week 6 of a 9 week program so I'm making progress!! Woo Hoo!!

On the weight front though I'm not really making any kind of progress. I've tried so many programs with no success. And yes I have worked each and every one of them. I know that I have thyroid issues that I'm having trouble getting treatment for but you would think I could at least lose a pound here and there. {{sigh}} But it's a struggle........which is why I'm supposed to be focusing on the workouts and such to get as healthy as possible at any weight.

But I still find myself having those moments of despair where I want to wake up looking how I feel "inside" and realizing that it may never happen. I had one of those moments yesterday when I realized it was my son's 4th Birthday and although I lost the pregnancy weight I haven't lost all the weight I gained with my daughter who will be 8 in September and I'm still morbidly obese by any doctors standards.....

I told my DH that at my next doctors appointment I will be discussing Weight Loss Surgery but honestly if I can be on a 400 to 800 calorie diet and still not lose is it really a viable option for me??

Okay enough of my boring musings for today. The only time I seem to lose is when I'm on Meat and Egg so I'm going to go back on that for now and see how things go.....and of course continuing with the Couch to 5K and all my other workouts.....

Eating is going well for now.

Haven't had much to write about my exercise because I had a day off but tonight I plan on having my run and some weight lifting for my upper body after the kids go to bed and while I'm waiting for the DH to fly home from his latest trip.

Today I got an email from The Biggest Loser show and a statement really hit home.

Just because you are fat doesn't mean you can't exercise and give it your all. Erin of Rhode Island

That really hit the nail on the head of why I'm doing this. I want to prove to everyone big or small that if you just get out there and move you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish.

Although it will be a while before I get the nerve to post my "actual" weight I can say that I'm closer to 300 than 200 right now and I'm running.

So, if I can do it I believe anyone can!!!

You really are inspiring!

Have you talked to your doctor about your thyroid? Pam on the boards is really helpful in getting answers on what to ask for and why! I think her name is nonstickpam and you can some information off the health board threads.

Keep it up, I bet you are firming up as well! Did you take your measurements???

Thanks!!

I have talked to my doctor and I also talked to Pam. The problem is I deal with Military Doctors and don't have money to go to a Civilian Doctor to get better treatment right now.

I have to be retested soon and I'm hoping that I can force them to start helping me. Until then I'm just doing what I can.

I did take some measurements but I forgot to do my legs.

I am so obsessive about my hips and waist that those were what I focused on.

But the DH says that just looking at my legs he can tell that they are changing and firming up.

I just realized that July 1st is this weekend.

That means that it's time for my Virtual 5K. For anyone who peeks in and doesn't know what that is.....

Those of us that have signed up on the Exercise Board pick a place to do a "5K" on our own. Some do it on a treadmill, some on their local roads, and others on trails.

I'm thinking I'll try to do mine tomorrow morning while the Hubby takes the kiddos to their swim lessons.

I mostly walked the "5K" for June and I'm hoping to run more and take my time under 50 minutes this time around that would mean getting as close as possible to a 15 minute mile.

I'm rooting for you! It's funny I just posted in my journal about how I should join the couch to 5 k and then I saw your thread.

You are an inspiration!!! I am in awe.

I hope that you can get proper medical care soon.

Oh and I can relate about measuring hips and the waist. I have the biggest hips ever so whenever they go down, even a 1/4 of an inch I have a party.

Take care and goodluck.

Thanks Emerald!!

Okay I confess there was just no way I was going to get my 5K in this morning. I'm still going to run later today but don't know if it'll be that. It may have to wait till tomorrow. I'll update later and let ya'll know what I ended up doing.

The main reason for this is because the DH got home later than expected last night. And after staying up really late talking and catching up. And then having both the cat and chihuahua decide to sleep with us because they missed him it made for a long night.

But I won't complain too much because I have him home for a week and I need to enjoy that time.

Having him home does make trying to get workouts in easier though. He can watch the kids for me instead of me trying to do it before they wake up, after they go to bed, or trying to take them with me.

Well, I'm off. Got tons to do today with painting and errands. Thankfully the DH is taking the kids to their swim lessons this morning and I won't have to worry about anyone wanting to "help" me paint.

My Virtual 5K is complete!!!

time~~53:27~~

It was done on the treadmill at home with a mixture of jogging and walking.

I didn't meet my goal of under 50 minutes

but I did beat my last time of 55:41 from June's Virtual 5K.

So, something to improve on for next month.

I hope to get under 45 minutes by September so that when I do the real 5K I won't feel like I'm going at a snails pace.

Congrats Siren!

You know 55 minutes of cardiovascular activity is really excellent. You have a lot to be proud of.

I'm here if you have questions. Sometimes I don't respond quickly because I get an avalanche of work (I'm in a PhD program)... but I'll try to help as much as possible.

So, today is another running day with my new program. But I'm so sore from yesterday that I fully expect it to be a bit rough.

The DH is home today to help with all the painting that I've been trying to get done before my family comes for a visit this weekend. I did a ton yesterday already so my upper body is sore like I did some weight lifting.

It's funny how even though you lift weights you still get sore doing projects like that. Makes you feel like maybe you don't workout as hard as you think.

In my weight lifting I've decided to start isolating. Instead of doing upper one day and lower another or even total body and skipping a day...... I'm going to pick specific parts to work each day of the week. I'll do it for 2wks and see how it goes. Just needed a bit of a change.

Well, I'm off to get errands done and then I'll be back to painting and moving furniture and organizing.

Can that count as a workout for today??

Okay I am officially exhausted and have no clue where I'm going to get the energy from to do my run tonight and do all the painting that I need to finish.

Tomorrow is my day off from running and I'm thinking I'll probably take a day off from all my workouts and just focus on the work I need to get done around here.

If I knew how much trouble it would be to buy a house and then make it "mine" I probably would have hesitated a LOT more.

Didn't get my run done last night.

But today was supposed to be a day off so it won't be a big deal to just make up yesterday's run.

Don't really have anything else to talk about today so it's going to be a quick one.

Happy 4th Everyone!!

I just completed Day 4 of the 3wks to 30 minutes and boy did it kick my booty, but I loved it every minute of it.

Okay maybe not minute 24 but I loved the rest.

Did it on the treadmill again but I'm really starting to hate that thing.

The Dh and I will be running outside together while my parents are visiting next week. We'll go before he heads off to work so the heat won't be as bad. I'm really looking forward to not only having that time with him alone doing something I love but also being outside.

Now, I'm off to paint my bathroom and then we'll be grilling tonight.
