"Fifi's FLAB-u-LESS Journey"

June 12, 2007
Weight: 153
Goal: 20 - 30 pound loss

My birthday was last week. While I love the celebrating, I hate that I am getting older. What I hate more than that is this body. This was especially true when I spent my birthday weekend away at the pool - in my bikini (there should be law!) I am 5'3" and have been carting around this extra FLAB for a year now. I had made a good effort in January to lose it, but then fell off the wagon. Tried again in May but did not see any results so I took a step back to look at myself and find out why I am standing in my own way.

There is no reason that I cannot achieve all of my goals and dreams, including getting my body back. So, here I go!

Today is DAY 2 of Atkins Induction for me. This is the first time I have ever used a journal or blog for any reason. I think it may help me over the long haul to track where I am doing things correctly and, more importantly, where I am going wrong.

I had a nice egg and sausage breakfast with coffee. I'll be having eggs for lunch today. Lots of water, of course.

I CAN do this! 12 days left of induction.

I made it through another successful day of Induction! Yea! I was happy to see the scale go down ever so slightly this morning. That is motivation! I won't bother changing my stats until the end of the week, when I hope to have a couple pound loss.

Yesterday I drank up my water like a good girl! I hope to stay on the water track as it sometimes gives me quite the belly ache.

The induction flu is not too bad. I do have a constant headached and I am sluggish, but I know it will pass.

While I want to lose up to 30 pounds, I decided yesterday to break my goal into two phases to make it seem more do-able. So, I have marked my calendar at the 6 week point and, by then, I HOPE to have lost 15 pounds.

Eye on the prize; eye on the prize!

June 14 - Wt: 150.8!

Well, this morning I was happy to see that the scale had moved again, BUT it is reserved happiness. Two weeks ago I was at this exact weight (to the ounce) and the scale did not move AT ALL. I'm hoping that was a fluke, and I will continue to see results.

Yesterday I was a good girl getting in my water, eating some salad greens, and lean protein. It was hard to resist my children's ice cream...but I am glad I did.

I still have the headaches and my arms are a bit crampy. I forgot my vitamin last night; I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. Otherwise I feel good.

I am hoping that the next few days will bring the movement of the scale that I so desperately want!

Fifi~sounds like you are doing great. I take a calcium pill at night before bed and it helps me with cramps. I get them in my calves and ankles when eating LC, even though I'm eating about 30+ carbs right now.

that you will get below this weight by the next weigh-in. Glad you're in our A72 group.

Seb, thank you for taking the time to post over here! I appreciate the welcome and encouragement at the A72 thread, too!

I'm surprised you are still getting cramps. When I did Induction in January (lost 7 pounds), I really only suffered one day. This time it's lingering. I might try adding in a calcium pill tonight.

Thanks for being so sweet!

UGH!! Stepped on the scale twice in the hopes that it would slip down to 149 - nope. This stinks. I want so much to get below that 150 mark! I want to be in the 140's!

I know that complaining won't make it happen, and I do plan on staying on track, but it is very frustrating nonetheless. Yesterday I had eggs for breakfast, small salad for lunch, bunless burger for dinner. I am ready for something else so perhaps this weekend I'll go with a nice juicy steak and ceasar salad for dinner one day.

I hope to report in on Monday proudly standing in the 140's!

I hope that for you also Fifi. I was in the upper 170s for 2 months and finally broke free of that, but it took a lot of patience and just waiting for my body to do its thing. I was losing inches the whole time, though. Have you measured?

Ladies, hello! Thank you for checking on me. I have been laying low because I wasn't doing well - weight loss wise.

I have decided to do Kimmer's Experiment and after one day, I am FINALLY, FINALLY in the 140's!!! 149 - but I'm there.

I thought K/E would be murder, but actually it is quite easy for me. I'll stay on it 3 to 5 days and switch over to an Atkins/Kimkins WOE. I am hoping for 139 by July 22 as I leave on a business trip that day.

I know if I keep checking in to LCF, I CAN do this!

Well....I did, just for a second, see 147.8 this morning! Then the nasty scale move up to 148.0. A couple of "rechecks" confirmed the 148. But, I'll take it!

I am doing quite well on K/E. I know I could be losing faster, but I don't want to give up half-n-half in my coffee or my low carb beer with dinner. I find that these little things help me to stay satisfied. As long as the scale keeps moving, I won't be dropping these two things from my diet.

What surprises me is how much I want a salad right now! On K/E there are no veggies allowed. At first I didn't care, but now I am craving a huge ceasar from Outback. LOL What happened to the days of craving some cheesecake?

I am having potty...um...issues despite taking a magnesium supplement. Perhaps I am not taking enough or perhaps I need to switch to something else. I hate the idea of taking a pill for constipation because I hate being gassy. Although I am very close to TOM, and that always "helps" in the potty department so I may just wait and see.

All and all I am very happy. I see changes in sight - eye on the prize. It will be nice when I am at goal and can say "I did it!"

Hi Fifi. Glad that Kimkins is working for you. And being below 150 is great!

I'm the same about cream in my coffee. I don't want to eat on any plan that excludes it. I've given up so many foods, but don't try to take that cream from me.

Congrats Fifi! Great job

You may feel comfortable trying Colace for your potty issues...very mild stuff.

KUTGW!

Seb & Livywilltim-mom: thanks for taking the time to read and post. It means so much. I appreciate the Colace advice. Luckily today I had "success" in the potty, too. I think now that I am adding my veggies in I should be okay from here on out.

Today's update:

Oops. Went a little overboard on my carbs yesterday so the scale is up .8 ounces. I am not going to take this lightly because I don't want to slip. 145 is in my line of sight and I oh so want to get there soon. I wonder why when I am doing so well and want it so bad that I will do something so silly like eating more than I should??

Yesterday was the end of my K/E. I really had no problem staying on that "experiment" but I could never sustain that in the long run! I know there are many questions about the entire Kimkins diet and I think they are legitimate. The big red-flag for me is the photo issue. Hopefully the answers can come out so people can make some more informed decisions. I certainly cannot see anyone living with so few food choices, but of course people do claim to drop a lot of weight so I guess some do what they feel they need to.

As for me, I am back to Atkins72 today! I had a luscious Ceasar salad for lunch!! I am going to have a nice steak off the bbq for dinner, too. I may even steam some broccoli just because I need that fiber! LOL

Fingers crossed for a continued slide toward the 130's - and fast!

WT: did not weigh in

I didn't weigh myself today because I didn't want to see anything to upset me. I am getting close to TOM and added in veggies yesterday so I thought it best not to even attempt weighing myself. I think I'll try on Saturday, depending on TOM.

I'm a little blue today, too. Perhaps it's because of PMS, but whatever. I had been feeling really good and really confident for an entire month and lost 5 pounds because of it. I hope I can get back there soon.

Today I had bacon and eggs for breaky (yum), will have the same for lunch since I need to go grocery shopping, and chicken ceasar for dinner. I have at home, but have not tried, some new diet drinks - orange soda and root beer. I am going to try those with dinner.

Well, here's hoping today will turn out better than I feel right now.

Still July 5, 2007 LOL

I'm concerned now about my calories. Fitday says I had 1700 with 16 total carbs. Since I am just coming off of K/E, I don't want to be eating too many calories all of the sudden. Hmmmm.

On another note, I decided to cut the beer with dinner. I realized that since I don't really care for the low-carb beer, why bother? Just adds more cals and carbs. Should save it for something yummy instead. Hopefully this will be another important change that will help.

Fifi,
I think dumping the LC beer for now is a super idea...maybe it is something that will really help...and if not, then you know it isn't a staller for you.

Happy Fat Burning Friday!

Had a major setback on Friday. Suffered a terrible migraine in the morning and I just could not function after that. I upped my carbs throughout the day in hopes of added relief. I ate comfort foods the next day, but there was no real change. Then TOM arrived. Now I have a cold, too. UGH.

BUT, I got on the scale this morning and it was only up one pound. That I can live with. I did go back on plan Sunday, so I'm sure that helped. And I have upped my water intake.

I was hoping to really lose about 10 pounds by the end of this month, but I doubt I am going to make it. Perhaps 5? I know a loss is a loss, but it is disappointing to go off track for other reasons.

Anyhoo, today I am going to have a nice omlette for breaky and a Caprese salad for lunch! YUM!

ETA: I almost forgot the most exciting part: this moring at pre-school, a dad was actually flirting with me! And he was very handsome! Hee hee Then, at work, another woman in my office building stopped me to tell me that I LOOK GREAT! What a sweetheart! She couldn't put her finger on it, but said to keep it up. I love it!

Oh Fifi!!

Flirting and people noticing your loss...You are AWESOME!!

Sorry to hear you have a cold, but you must feel better than when you had a migraine!!!

It is a good lesson for us all that a day or 2 of carbs will not derail us...if we get back to it.

Thanks for sharing that.

Gonna go watch the All-Star Baseball Game with my guys! 6 or 7 Red Sox players there, YEAH

Jaimie - you are sooo sweet! Hope you enjoyed your American League win last night!

Wow - I am so happy to see the scale move right back down today. I feel bad with this cold, but as Jaimie said, not as bad as with that darn migraine! I can actually see myself getting to mini-goal by the end of this month! I know I am running out time, but I think it is doable!

The kids have been promised McDonald's tonight because their dad is picking them up; I might splurge with a couple of burgers from there (tossing the bun, of course). I am really not strong enough to even think about cooking anything for tonight, even if it is just for me.

Hopefully next week this time, Wednesday morning, I will be faced with the low 140's!
