Daisy's Wrecking Ball
I am incredibly jazzed.
I started low-carbing on Monday May 14 and as of today the 17th I have lost five pounds. I am now on eBay bidding on a Callanetics dvd. I've been reading WATCH-ME- SHRINK's journal and am very inspired by her. I am currently a size 12; pushing a 14 if truth be told. If I'm brave enough I'll do a digital pic to mark my progress from the beginning (yuck). |

I won the Callenetics DVD!
I feel much slimmer through my midsection. It's amazing the bloat we carry around when we are eating crap. Last edited by DaisyGG; 05-18-2007 at 06:39 AM.. |

A bit more background:
About nine years ago I decided to quit smoking. This is great, but I was very worried about gaining weight and since at the time I weighed 220 pounds the thought of adding to my size really made me sad. So I quit smoking and bought a treadmill. My wasband thought it was a huge waste of money, but soon became supportive as I hit it very regularly. I had to start very slow becaus I was so out of shape, but soon I was using it at about 4 miles per for 45 minutes every other day. After about six months I added weights for my upper body. It took a year, but I lost nearly 60 pounds. For the most part I've kept it off and have stayed active in one form or another. Before I got divorced I belonged to a gym with my BBF and we would meet 3-4 times a week and exercise together. That was my most successful time hitting the gym. So my goal now is to get back into a serious workout routine, lose 25-30 pounds, and get toned. Even when I was hitting the gym I was never *tight* and hard. I'd like to get that way. My body type is very girly. Boobies, smaller waist, curvy hips. I'm tall so that's a plus. I don't have a lot of muscle as a rule. Even when I have more muscle you cannot see it. |

Yesterday, even though I had to plow through a few very challenging stressors, I did not reach for anything bad. That is huge for me.
My boyfriend and his brother had been working in my kitchen all day and when they finished DB and I went out to eat. I had a lite beer, a steak with mushrooms, and grilled asparagas. I did have a bite of the garlic mashed potatoes, but only a bite. No dessert. When we got back to my house we took George for a walk and hung out outside for a bit since it was such a beautiful night. He ate a few mini candy bars and I did not! Yea for me! Stats for yesterday: grams cals %total Total: 1650 Fat: 109 978 60% Carbs: 33 116 7% Fiber: 4 0 0% Protein: 115 459 28% Alcohol: 12 81 5% |

One week today. The weekend was very challenging! I had a wedding to attend where I had way too many vodka sodas and a piece of wedding cake. I just ate it before I knew I was eating it.
But overall it was a great week. I feel great. And I've lost six pounds even with the weekend cheats. I got my Callanetics DVD in the mail this morning too! I'm going to review it and hopefully start tomorrow. The outfits they wear in the DVD make me laugh, but what great bodies! That 72 year-old woman! She's fabulous. Good grief! I went to MacDonalds with my DBF tonight because we were working on my kitchen and wanted to grab something quick.
I checked on their Web site for nutritional values in their double quarter pounder with cheese no bun and check this out: macbad.jpg Look at the sodium! I knew deep down it was bad, but I had no idea. I cannot wait until my kitchen is done and I can make meals here. ![]() Last edited by DaisyGG; 05-21-2007 at 07:17 PM.. |

Two weeks! I lost one more pound. If you all know what last week was like you'd be cheering me on! It was a hella week and I slipped a few times, but now I'm back.
Memorial weekend was great. We went to a baseball game (Twins one; yea!), a family bbq, and got lots done around my house. Plumber comes tomorrow to start his re-plumb of the house. Then Monday the kitchen installers come and my kitchen will begin. I cannot wait. I have a pile of recipes that I'm itching to try. ![]() |

I am so frustrated. I'm trying to not justify why I haven't started working out full-force, but seriously - my life right now is very chaotic. Grrr!
It's coming soon I know. I just need to be patient and get this kitchen done. |

Okay . . . kitchen isn't "done," but it's a far cry better than it was before. DBF hooked up my stove so I'm going grocery shopping this weekend and start concentrating.
DVD is still waiting for me to crack into it. I am halfway through the book. The pictures are amazing. I am still maintaining the seven pound loss. I see that as a victory. Pictures are part of my kitchen remodel and my poor dog in the middle of the remodel. He actually had a blast yesterday following everyone around. Last edited by DaisyGG; 06-08-2007 at 11:08 AM.. |

I'm a graphic designer and sit for most of the day. Sitting is not good! And with my house being in the middle of a remodel I am having a very hard time working out. I'm totally unfocused.
Grrr . . . would someone please kick my a@@? |

I went out of town for the weekend to visit my BFF (we've been friends since we were 16!!) and we had a great time digging in antique shops and flea markets. Then we hit their local festival in the evening (her DH was our designated driver) and saw Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Does anyone remember them? Very fun.
Then I came home to great news and a mess. lol! DBF had mudded and sanded in my kitchen. That's the great news! The bad news was the mud dust that was everywhere! I used his shop vac and got lots of it. The beat goes on in the kitchen! I need to get on the project manager's butt again to find out when the next state is taking place. Bleh. I have a renewed commitment today. I will be accountable for everything I do and say. |

Ha Ha, snuck n again
Thought I would visit u a bit
That's awesome, ur getting ur kitchen remolded, I so envy u , that sounds like a great diet plan also. I use a portable shake maker like shake makerIf u find one, it's awesome, and it would really work for ur situation. I hate cleaning the blender (I know, I am a lazy lima bean) I have been on the shake kick also, I have been collecting recipes from sites and trying 2 modify, but the "awesome shake" concoction seems 2 work the best for now, so stickin 2 it. ![]() Tic

Here's my nutritional info from yesterday.
DBF and I had errands to run last night (I had to get some carpet cleaner among other things - don't ask [ick!!] so once again we ate on the run. We decided on LeeAnn Chins and I made what I thought was a good choice - the lemon chicken - but is was a bit carb-heavy. But not horrible. On the plus side: I cleaned the carpet in my bedroom area where I think my daughter's cat Natasha is urinating (oh dear). I have no idea why she's being so naughty. I'll have to do the "smell" test when I get home tonight. Another plus for today: The counter installer is at my house right now doing the custom on-site build. Oooooo! Counters! That means I will have most of my kitchen! Oh the excitement! I'm not kidding. The thought of being able to even slice some cheese excites me. I can make coffee in the kitchen rather than in the downstairs bar. Thank you! |
