This timely letter just arrived in my inbox

Turbulence Training Email Newsletter
Brought to you by Craig Ballantyne
==============================================

Dear Deborah,

Brad Pilon might not ever admit this to you, but he once won a
bodybuilding contest. That's right, he was all oiled up, fake tanned,
and wearing a tiny speedo.

Fortunately I was NOT there to be a witness to that.

But...it does prove that he knows a thing or two about helping you
transform your body.

So here are 5 truths about weight loss from Brad Pilon to help you
lose fat without sacrificing your life to the gym or some crazy diet.

*****************************
Brad says...

Since most likely you have already heard the basic guidelines for
competing in a transformation contest (set a goal date, get a support
group, create an action plan) I'd like to share some lesser-known
tips that are equally important.

1. Prepare to be uncomfortable - At least for the first while.

I'm constantly asked to explain what I mean when I say "Eat Less".
If I had to expand this statement I would say, "Eat less than you
are comfortable eating".

If you are carrying extra weight, then chances are you are currently
eating more than you need to.

But when you first start out on your transformation, it is learning
process, and you and your body will need to learn to be comfortable
eating less.

This happens quicker for some people than others, but it will
eventually happen. The key is to use a diet plan that allows you to
eat less, while limiting the 'uncomfortableness' of the actual
dieting process. If done properly, eating less will quickly become
the new 'eating normal' for you.

2. This is probably an obvious one, but it's also one that most
people seem to always forget - Compare yourself to yourself.

Look, everyone's bodies are shaped differently. My opinion is that
drug use by both men and women is far more widespread than most of
us think and the use of expert lighting, touchup makeup and
Photoshop makes almost EVERY picture you see a completely
unrealistic illustration of a human body.

The ONLY person you should be comparing yourself to is yourself.

Strive to be a better you, but don't try to be someone else, because
it's not going to happen.

3. Be patient.

In my experience most transformations go something like this:

FIRST three weeks - most of the dramatic weight loss happens.

LAST three weeks - this is where most of the visible changes happen.

The period in between?

This is where most people get frustrated and anxious. So plan ahead.

Remind yourself that "Yes, there will be large weight loss at the
beginning, but after that it's 'slow and steady' that wins the race,
and it will all be worthwhile during the final weeks when every day
brings noticeable changes to the way you look."

4. Don't justify over-eating with exercise.

You have to make sure you don't eat more food just because you're
doing more exercise. Also be aware of how active you are throughout
the rest of your day when you add the extra exercise.

5. Remember your weight will fluctuate.

I'm 172-ish pounds fasted, and 177-ish pounds fed. My weight goes up
and down 2-3 pounds every day.

Try your best to always weigh in after an overnight fast and
remember to look for the trend not the exact number each day. Don't
worry if you are up a couple of pounds one day...

Stay the course and focus on the weekly trend.
***********************************************

Thanks Brad.

Again, it is no coincidence that over 7 of the top TT Transformation
Contest entries have used Brad's Eat-Stop-Eat program.

It's simple and it works.

I give his program my strongest recommendation and suggest you get
started with his program today.

Click here to visit Brad's website to get Eat-Stop-Eat today:

=> Lose weight, Lose Fat, Eat Stop Eat, Intermittent fasting, weight loss success, Easiest Diet Plan, Increase Growth Hormone

And to be honest, I was very skeptical of his program at first, but
member after member on the TT Forum kept on raving about how simple
and effective the program was...and about how practical it was for
busy people who didn't have time to eat 6 times per day.

So if you're sick and tired of trying to keep to that impossible and
impractical schedule, try his Eat-Stop-Eat program instead.

I guarantee you'll get the results you want.

To your success,

Craig Ballantyne, CSCS, MS

Hi there Daisy,

Oh man I hear you sister! about having a plan I mean. Have had dozens over the years

Interesting article you posted.
Thanks for bringing Mark Sisson to my attention again (other thread). I read about him ages ago, but forgot all about him, am loving the site. Lots of good info there.

Do your thing girl, maybe you'll have a slightly unique plan, but whatever works.

I am running in here for a bit to update.

I am in school full time and am yet to find my school-groove. I am out of school shape apparently! It will get better.

I blogged about it here:

Fashion Plate: Please Don't Call on Me!

and here:

Fashion Plate: If I Knew How to Get There, I Wouldn't Have to Ask

But - updating:
  • No weight loss
  • Sandy! I received my book yesterday! Read it last night instead of studying (bad girl)
  • Going to the gym regularly. Blogged about that too!

Fashion Plate: The Club Grunters

I can't think of any other updates . . . hmm . . .

I bought a small notebook to keep in my book bag so I can jot down food intake since I haven't logged food for days! I keep forgetting.

It's all good! My geezer brain is struggling to get in learning gear, but I am starting to hear things a creakin'.

<edit>
Oh wait, I did lose one pound. Yay me! One is better than none. I am claiming that damn pound since I've had it for over a week.

I love your blog Daisy! I enjoy your writing style! Would you rather we comment in your blog or your LCF journal or both?! My husband just recently started coursework for his doctorate. He works and studies and studies and works! Crazy idea, but we do live relatively close to one another....if you ever want to grab a glass of wine and a bite to eat, I'd love to meet you!

OMgosh - you guys are very sweet to read my blog and have such wonderful things to say! Warms my heart. I would love you guys to comment on the blog or here or wherever you want! Just knowing that you are reading it makes me want to write. I'd be honored to have you guys as followers and readers.

I started my blog right after I lost my job and it has helped me even when things were felt pretty dark.

Sandy - you would LOVE going back to school. You are a child compared to me! I'm totally geezery. My biggest fear was I'd be the oldest in the class, but I had forgotten about the instructors! Ha!

Vanessa - that would be so much fun! I would love to get together. And that is awesome about your husband. He must be a brainiac yes?

HB - Hi! How are you doing? You have a new job yes?

Didn't track yesterday - ack! I get studying and hours fly by. It seriously takes me twice as long as it should to do my reading. This accounting stuff is not coming naturally. Not like design and web work does. But we have a plan and this is my portion of it.

I owned a biz in the late 90s and did my own books so it isn't like I can't do this stuff, it just isn't as fun.

The fun part will be when I'm doing the marketing for hubbins biz and working in tandem with him and some of his clients. Hey! Did I make a plan? Hmm . . .

So - today's plan - school from 9 - 12, then off to Pupcake's firm. I'm finishing decorating his office which has been a blast. I am still working on getting all his certificates and such matted and framed. This stuff is expensive. Trying to find a budget conscious way to do it.

Then we'll have lunch then I have errands to run - groceries and I want to wander around in a drug store looking for almond oil. I'm nearly out. Sidebar: almond oil is totally taking away all my stress-related eczema! Awesome!

I'm having a protein shake with an egg in it this morning - totally found the reference to it in the 6-week plan book. Then lunch - then another shake later in the evening after errands. I think we'll go to a movie. Pup's only fun for the weekend. He works on Sundays too.

Have great days everyone! Stay strong and stay healthy.

Congrats, Daisy, on your returning to school!

That is AWESOME, GIRLFRIEND!

I read part of your blog (intend to read more and KEEP reading).

I LOVE your style -- all encompassing -- and it makes for fun reading. YOU DO HAVE THE STYLE GOIN ON, girl. Love that.

This cracked me up:

Quote:
Pup asks me, "What DO you remember from class"?

Me, "Well, the woman in front of me needed her roots done."
That sounds eerily similar to how I might have responded. My bad.

We bad?

Hope you have a great weekend. I'll be just around the corner.

BTW,

Sitting here having had some carbs with coffee, waiting for them to KICK IN before my workout, and I'm enjoying reading your blog page...

Question: Explain the "labels" thing to me.

I clicked on a few of interest (hot men Friday being one) , and I commented on one of those, but had to do so by way of "ANONYMOUS."

That works I guess.

So.... what about the labels thing?

That's exactly how the labels work - when one looks like something you'd like to read more about, it sorts them according to the label you clicked on.

As far as being able to comment on a post, you can set up an account. For instance, I have one with Google and when I comment on anyone's blog it shows my name and photo.

There is much cool stuff out there to read.

I saw your comment! We love the PB yes?

Update:

This week will be challenging for exercise. We are hard into our winter so outdoor stuff is out (ha!). I had an extra class last night, a funeral tonight, class Wednesday night, and dinner plans with my Momma Betty Thursday night. Friday is date night.

Tomorrow morning I have class, Thursday morning I can get in the workout room. Friday morning as well. Saturday I have class in the morning. And so much studying.

Hmm . . . so

Wednesday - evening, yes
Thursday - morning, yes
Friday - morning, yes
Sat - before studying, yes
Sun - don't think so

Will I work out both Wed evening and Thursday morning? Let's plan on two different things - Wed evening let's do yogo and Thur morning let's do a JW DVD.

I don't think I'll get to the club at all this week. Sad face. Lorenzo got back from SF last night and she is available on Thurs I think, but I need to go to dinner with hubbins and momma - stream of consciousness here, bear with me.

Good - a plan.

Last night I went to a nutrition class with my girlfriend.

I found out that most of the vitamins I just bought are TOTAL CRAP! Grrr - this stuff is making me crazy!

All the meat I buy is CRAP (except for my little piggy that is in my freezer I bought from Pupcake's uncle's pig farm).

My eggs are crap, my cream is crap, my sour cream is crap. Everything is crap.

So frustrating.

Daisy, good girl. You're planning ahead with your workouts this week. You're trying to adapt your busy schedule and make time for exercise.

Gold star for effort.

As for the crap food? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everything we eat is gonna kill us eventually. We can try to make good, healthy choices. But we can't live in a sanitized bubble for the rest of our life. We do the best we can as often as we can and as reasonably as we can.

I'm sure the nutrition class was an eye opener.

D,

Speaking of hair, I was reading your blog the other day -- Fashion Plate -- and was reading an entry regarding hairstyles that you liked, etc.

I like the way you have your hair styled right now, girl. Very flattering.

Question: Have you thought of adding a little fringe of bangs with that style? Not a lot, just a bit. And then on days you don't want them, you can use styling product and heat to blend them in with the rest of your hair. Bangs are more versatile than you realize.

Just wondering...thoughts?

Hey Speedy! I read Diet for a Small Planet & Animal Liberation (when I was 20) and became a vegetarian for 15 years! But, I ate waaaay to much processed soy products. And I always needed to lose 10-15 lbs.

Like you, no meat from the regular grocery store. I can taste the "abuse" in that stuff. Sorry to be so graphic. But hey, like PETA says, we gotta be the Voice for the Voiceless. I love bumping into other humane meat eaters

Daisy, WHY did they think your vitamins & dairy products were "crap"

Daisy -- I know you are on the other side of the Twin Cities from me (I think) but here are some resources for you......

Grassfed Beef, Pastured Egg & Chicken...you can find them at the downtown St. Paul farmer's market even in the winter

Grassfed Cream & Milk...you can find these products at the local food coops

Twin Cities Food Coops...we shop at Valley Natural Foods but there are others around the cities

Let me know what you need help with re:supplements....I've got some resources through DH's job. Any other help I can be for SOLE (sustainable, organic, local & ethical) food let me know!

Do you best like Hummingbird said.

I think for date night we should just go somewhere so Pup can relax. His schedule is ridiculous. I know it's just the way it is this time of the year, but he really works so hard.

The things about this nutrition class that was the most shocking is how many of the things they talked about (and I knew many more than I would have thought - mostly due to the good people of this site - waving especially at Twyla, Vanessa, Fawn, etc.) are becoming well-known to many of us, yet the medical community is still touting the same old junk.

I know the pharm companies rule the roost, but it scares me that there is so little disregard for the truth. What about all the peeps out there that don't know how to find this info? Or fight it because their doctors don't agree? It was a shocking revelation to me.

I think about my ex-MIL, who is a diabetic. Her doctor had her eating potatoes with no butter because butter is bad, but it was perfectly alright for her to eat potatoes. Really? I wanted her to put some damn butter on a butt-load of broccoli. Sheesh. But she faithfully ate that dry-arse baked potato believing her doctor knew best.

Grr and arg!

Believe it or not I have bangs in my avatar picture! I have a five-head (rather than a forehead). It is ginormous! So I need a little something on my shining noggin for certain. I did have more fringy bangs a few years ago and it was cute I think.

I'll post some hairstyle pictures I'm finding. I should update my avatar, my hair is quite a bit longer now.

I had bought them at say Target or the grocery store. For instance, they were telling me that my magnesium needed THIS and NOT THAT (can't remember right now) and of course mine had had the wrong thing.

And she said the quality of fish oil is very important. It confuses me! I buy my stuff everywhere!
