Daisy
These are all very good suggestions for allowing "gentle" exercising. Have you tried Callanetics? There are a few of the movements in Callanetics (not all) that you could do that would offer strengthening and toning as well, during your healing process. Obviously nix all of those which require bending while on your feet, or those requiring a kneeling position. All others are a go. Hope you have a painfree day today. ![]() |

Hi Twyla! I am totally considering Callanetics. I was trying to find something that could raise my heart beat without using my knees.
I'm going to experiment tonight with some of these. |

Another thing to consider, supersets for upper body training. Supersetting is when you go from one muscle group to the next, no rest in between, thereby making the workout more intense and helps to elevate your heartrate.
Choosing supersets that work the same muscle, but with different exercises, will add to the intensity (and challenge) of your workout. Kathy Smith's DVD, "Lift Weights to Lose Weight" is a good example of both LB and UB supersetting, along with a great ab workout section at the end. You can just avoid the LB workouts until your knee heals. |

Hi Ya Daisy,
I am finally back on line after the surgery on Thursday. This one was a much easier repair, so I am hoping for a much quicker recovery. I will be looking forward to read about your exercise journey. Hugs |

DD1 brought over an exercise ball she has, but has never inflated. Pupcake will fill with hot air (his gift - teasin!!) tonight for me.
I tried a few things last night. My knee did fabulous during the first half of the day then crapped out the second half. Still swollen. Grrr! hehehe Did not track in my FitDay. Did a mini fast yesterday to clear out my system. Green tea during the day and then red sauce, meatballs, (from Schwan's - not horrible, but not like homemade) and zoodles. I didn't like zoodles with red sauce. Snuck a few bites of Pupcakes real pasta.

We got word yesterday that layoffs will be announced March 2. The people effected will get paid through the end of the month.
My manager was crabbing that those people's systems will be tied up and what if she needs to get into someone's computer? Sheesh. I wanted to snort, but kept my ladylike composure. Ha! We didn't get paid yesterday either. Luckily it's not a huge issue for me to not get my money right on the day, but sheesh! Some people were freakin out. They had buried this info somewhere in an HR newsletter. Come on! They felt it was no big deal since yesterday was a holiday. Holiday for who? My DD1 works in a bank and it was biz as usual. One of my teammates has her house payment removed on the 15th and she was freakin big time. First we get the pay cut, then they change how our vacation is accrued, then layoffs are announced, now delayed paychecks? Maybe it is time to leave this company. I've worked there 10 years though! Grr I heard from a few of my vendors that we are over 60 days with accounts payables. Oh dear. |

Aaaaah! Thanks guys! This really means a lot to me.
I do fear I have been stress eating, just a bit. I had a rice krispie bar yesterday! I haven't had one of those in months. <sheepish> Yesterday at work was so hard! I thought it would be easier to know when the the announcement will be made, but maybe it's better to be blindsided. I don't know! I have started cleaning off my computer. Actually my two computers. Pupcake and I talked about me buying a new mac for my home office (this one I'm on right now is 11 years old! Can you believe it??) and I have talked to my mac tech about setting me up at home. Focus. Right now, I'm drinking my morning coffee, which is my favorite time of day I think. I do think about the free time I'll have. I think I'd take a week or so to just be domestic for a bit. That calms me! Must be about being able to immediately see your results. Truth be told, and I've talked about it before, I'm a bit burnt out on corporate life. My head does have lots of ideas right now. |

So - today's plan is to eat good food, make good choices about what I eat. Take deep breaths, drink water, get up frequently during the day at work to stretch the knee.
I have tomorrow off! Seems, in retrospect, not the wisest decision to take the unpaid time off, but I am really looking forward to having this day. |

You write as though being layed off is inevitable? Is it
? Or are you just preparing for the worst? What would you like to do jobwise? I mean in an ideal world where you didn't have to think about money, training, or actually finding a job? I am a mac user too. Love my mac! Happy Friday! sandy |

I do feel it Sandy. Could just be the stress, but I feel it. I could be totally proven wrong! So I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst as they say.
![]() I am a creative person - so I'd love to be still in design, but in a different way. Like a stager for real estate. Or a consultant/stylist for regular people. I'm thinking along those lines in my dream. I'm also thinking, this time for real, that if laid off, I will offer up my services on a cadre basis. Who knows? They might decide to print again in the future and I know the culture and biz methods. That might work - that might not work. |

Sat Weigh In
I did NOT want to weigh in today, but I did. I'm still at 191, but that doesn't bum me out in the least considering what I've been doing the past couple of weeks eating wise. Plan for today is breakfast out - 3 scrambled eggs with a bit of cheese and sausage Light lunch - probably something with an avocado that's been looking at me Dinner - TBD - I do have some leftover naked tenders from the BWW I'm only hanging with my BFF for the morning - maybe a bit into the afternoon so I'm going to do something down in my workout room. Maybe more of what I did yesterday- weights and strengthening. Hi guys!
I have been struggling the past couple of days. These days are the longest ever! I have now officially changed my mind. It is NEVER better to know the exact day of any bad news. It is crazy-hard to function normally. Had a good weekend. My BFF had a car accident on her way to my house Saturday morning. She hit an icy patch on 35W, a car spun out and hit her and pushed her into a ditch. Thank goodness there was tons of snow in the ditch and she wasn't hurt. She exchanged info with the woman and her Honda Element crawled out of the ditch in 4-wheel drive! She was very shook up when she got here so we went to breakfast and I let her talk on and on about it. You know how it is when something like this happens. You have to talk about it! In detail! We then went to World Market (Cost Plus) to see how the markdowns were coming along. Got some throw pillows for my couch for $3.47 each! Crazy. Then we went to Trader Joe's and spent a looooong time in there just checking out stuff. Bought many bottles of 3 buck chuck. Nummy. |
