I haven't logged my food the last two days. I hope I get a chance to get caught up on that and post my accountability.

Speaking of that - I'm going to post something I got in my e-mail from Tom Venuto (Thanks again Vanessa for the recommendation.)

Quote:
THE 8 REASONS WE FALL OFF THE WAGON

1. NO FOCUS: you didn't set goals, you didn't put your goals in
writing, and or you didn't stay focused on your goals daily
(by reading them, affirming them, looking at a vision board, etc.)

2. NO PRIORITIES: you may have set a goal, but you didn't put
it on or near the top of your priorities list. For example,
your goal is six pack abs, but drinking beer and eating fast
food on the weekend is higher on your priorities list than
having a flat stomach.

3. NO SUPPORT SYSTEM: you tried to go at it alone; no buddy
system, training partners, family, spouse, friends, mentors
or coaches to turn to for information and emotional support
when the going got tough.

4. NO ACCOUNTABILITY - you didn't keep score for your own
accountability - with a progress chart, weight record,
measurements, food journal, training journal, and you didn't
set up external accountability (ie, report to someone else
or show your results to someone else)

5. NO PATIENCE: you were only thinking short term and had
unrealistic expectations. You expected 10 pounds a week or
5 pounds a week or 3 pounds a week, so the first week you
lost "only" 1 or 2 pounds or hit a plateau, you gave up.

6. NO PLANNING: you winged it. You walked into the gym
without having a workout in hand, on paper, you didn't
plan your workouts into your weekly schedule; you didn't
have a menu on paper, you didn't make time (so instead
you made excuses, like "I'm too busy")

7. NO BALANCE: your diet or training program was too extreme.
You went the all or nothing, "I want it now" route instead
of the moderate, slow-and-steady wins the race route.

8. NO PERSONALIZATION: your nutrition or training program
was the wrong one for you. It might have worked for someone
else, but it didn't suit your schedule, personality,
lifestyle, disposition or body type.

Hi guys!

I have been out of it! I'm tellin' you, I am not a good candidate for drugs! I feel like I've been pulled behind a truck.

This is the first that I've been able to sit with my knee bent. Feels kinda good actually. I have one more day off then back to it. That will be challenging. I'm so tired!

I cannot say I've been on plan, but I don't believe I've been horrible. Mostly I've had only crackers, some coffee (believe it or not), and today I had chow mein. I was craving the kind with lots of celery big time. It was delicious!

I'm going to cruise around and see where everyone is. I'm glad to be among the lucid.

It went fine as far as I know, the surgeon came to talk to me when I was still really out of it and he NEVER went to talk to Pupcake. I am calling the clinic tomorrow to find out what the heck is what?

I came out of the anesthetic good, but then was shaking rather convulsively for about an hour and they had a hard time getting on top of the pain for me. I felt like such a baby! For cryin' out loud; I had TWO BABIES without any pain meds. And I can't handle this?

So Thursday is really a blur. We got back to the house around 4:00. DD1 came to stay with me on Friday and I was totally doing my vicodin (spelling?). Drugs and I do not get along, but I took it. It made me really flushed and fuzzy headed.

Yesterday I felt hungover and stopped taking any more of that stuff. Now today I feel like I was beaten up.

Every day is better though right? I can bend it now and I feel stronger.

I have to say it was a bit harder than I thought it would be. I'm a baby! lol

Daisy,

I'm out of the loop. Didn't realize you'd had surgery. I pray your recovery is speedy and you're back to good health and strength soon.

Hoping you have a good day today with pain tolerance...get your rest.

Sending healing blessings your way.

I do feel better today. Just got up, made my coffee, shuffled around the house a little bit. I feel like I have even more of the medication out of my body. I wonder why I'm so sensitive to that stuff? I guess I would have never made a very good drug addict.

My back is much less stiff and doesn't feel as wrenched. Whooo hoo!

My plan for today is to do a few light chores around the house (it is falling apart! lol). I did bring work home with me so I might call my manager and see if I could work from home tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Plan for eating is to see how my stomach handles being back on my low-carb way. Since my surgery I couldn't handle anything other than light carbs; crackers, toast, for the most part. I had eggs yesterday morning and it it made me pretty crampy. I'll take it easy today with eating. Maybe some soup?

My youngest daughter just called me. She was laid off from her new job in SF. She's only been working since July. She is trying to not freak out.

This is just getting worse and worse every day.

oh NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is terrible news. I'm so sorry.
I may be in the same boat soon (fingers crossed NOT)

I was laid off in 4/1995 and again in 10/2001.

it's always an emotional & financial SHOCK and I recovered nicely both times;
actually going on to something bigger & better each time.

but it's NOT fun.

my heart goes out to her.
if she finds she needs a less expensive place to rent; let me know.
we have a spare room w/ private bath for rent

Oh Daisy. it does keep getting worse & worse. WHERE will it end?

ThankGawd we have Obama now -- hope he can turn this around!!

Hi Daisy,

Just wanted to stop in and give you some encouragement. I had a meniscus repair on Dec 30 and I am scheduled to have my other knee done on Feb 12.

It was harder than I expected at first...and it has really taken me a good 4 or 5 weeks to decide that I can do it again.

Be kind to yourself.

I am thinking of you lots

Peace

Hi Jamie - thanks so much for your words. Could you share with me what made it so hard? I am surprised how much it hurts after hearing it was going to be a breeze. This is not a breeze!

Did you rip both of yours at the same time! You poor thing! How does the repaired one feel now?

I couldn't sleep last night. More than likely thinking about going back to work.

Checked my work e-mail last night and read a memo from HR. They are making changes to our vacation. Good grief; what next?? We don't get that much damn vacay as it is. Very irritating.

The next couple of weeks will be difficult. I do wish they would come to their decision quickly and lay off who they are going to hit so we can get on with working and planning our lives.

My poor DD2 is freaking out. She's young and this is her first job and she moved so very far from home.

The company is laying off 7k and will have 1500 jobs to refill. Lorenzo is going to, of course, try for one of those. Who knows what may happen between now and then?

She also heard yesterday that some people will be let go right away - not at the end of April as she was originally told. Good grief.

Terrific Tuesday Daisy,

Sorry you are so stressed...that is scary news for DD.

I didn't hurt my knees at the same time, but pretty close...I tore my left meniscus in September, then while I was waiting for the surgery...I torqued my right. I ended up having the right done first because it really was worse.

I am surprised at how swollen it still is. I am back to almost full mobility and activity...but it swells and is sore. Today is exactly 5 weeks since the surgery...and last night I taught dance...today, swollen, red and sore.

I think if I took the time to ice it after activity...it might be feeling better, I just usually fall into bed after my 14 hour days!

I hope you have a good first day back to work, and TAKE CARE of yourself!!

Hugs
