Twyla! Thank you for your good thoughts. I am very focused. I have to say that many times when I DO want to cave to a known behavior I actually do say to myself, "WWTD"? and "WWVD"? and "WWKD"? And HB and all the women in my challenge. It's really helping me.
These past two weeks have put into great focus how much mindless and narcissistic eating I have done. I always think I DESERVE the snack, bag of chips, ice cream. Good grief! Who do I think I am? ![]() Something is clicking for me this time. The clicks are layering on me. I look good in layers! ![]()

Cal - 1,497 Fat - 116.8 Fiber - 19.1 - look at the fiber! I need to work on getting this kind every day Carbs - 39.5 Protein - 89.4 Exercise - Nordic Track, stretches, and a million flights of steps from basement to main level. Wow! This is the last day of the first two weeks. I haven't chucked it. I have stayed on plan and happy with it. Last night Pupcake and I ran out for a quick bite. We had been working pretty hard all day - me in the basement setting up my exercise space totally and he in his office configuring his new computer. We ran to Applebee's so we could just sit in our day clothes, read the paper, and have dinner. I had the burger where they wrap it in a tortilla - name excapes me - sans the tortilla. And mixed vegi's on the side. A diet coke with lime. It was delicious! Applebees! lolol I was vacuuming yesterday, running up and down the stairs (well, running might not be the exact word I could be using , and I jumped on the Nordic Track too. Very good day.FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal: Public Journal |

Daisy,
Poppin in to say hey and to encourage you towards another successful week. Keep it interesting with your fuel. Last night I prepared some stuff for the week ahead for easy take-along lunches to work. I made Taco Meatballs. Had forgotten how great they are! 1.5 lbs lean gr beef (or gr turkey) 2 eggs 1 packet Taco seasoning finely chopped onion (to taste, I use about 1/3 med onion) 1 cup sharp shredded cheddar clove of minced garlic (optional) Mix very well, make into balls, bake on a cookie/baking sheet at 425 for 15-18 mins, or until brown. Let cool, store in container in frig, or chow down immediately... ![]() These are great to have along with a salad or other veggie, or dipped in Fiesta Dip or Salsa by themselves even. Have a good one.

Oooh that sounds like a good one Twyla. I like having stuff on hand to bring to work. I work downtown and there are sooooo many temptations there. I'm right next to a Starbucks and I do love their raspberry scone. At least I USED to. Ha!

I just spent my lunch hour going over my FitDay from 2002 when I lost weight with low-carb.
I had pretty high calories, 1700-1800, but the incredibly interesting thing is my percentages were way low for carbs, typically 3-9 percent, and the fat was really high. Usually 75 percent, but almost always over 70. This is totally in keeping with what I've read on the boards bunches of times. I'm making a change. More eggs, fat, and meat. |

Cal - 1,808 Fat - 155.3 Fiber - 21.3 Carbs - 41.7 Protein - 83.4 Exercise - Walked George, 20 minutes of Jackie Warner DVD, upper body portion. Sarah and I worked out together in my new workout space. Which is just a 100 year-old basement with a TV and rug. hehehe I'm half teasin'. I have my Nordic Track, my Infinity bar (which I'll be pulling out for Callanetics soon), my hand weights, yoga mat, and soon I'll have my treadmill back I'm thinking. Not for me, but for George. ![]() Working out felt so good. The walk was great too. FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal: Public Journal |

It is -17 below right now! Why oh why didn't I bring work home with me?? I could be staying cozy in my cute house, drinking my own coffee, looking out my window instead of venturing out in this mess. I guess cars are careening all over the freeway. Blerg.
Today little Calvin goes to get his nuggies nipped. Poor little guy. He's blissfully sleeping on my desk without a care in the world, never knowing that his boys are leaving him. I, for one, am glad. He's a rumpster of a fella and needs those nuggets nipped. His claws too. I love that little geezer and will miss him tonight. He'll be so lonely! Do you think he'll remember the vet's office since that's the place where he was brought and raised until we adopted him? I hope so. I hope he remembers the people there. They are the kindest people ever. Why is it that people at vet's offices are always the nicest? I've never met a vet I didn't like. |

The vet tech is my DD1's best friend so I get preferential treatment. Yay!
He has to stay overnight! We can't get him until after noon tomorrow. He's going to be so sad! I'm half kidding on the treatment. The vet tech is a sweet girl that I've known since she was about 12! She's a honey of a girl. I'm her second momma. |

Still hot there? DD2 mentioned that she went to a showing/exhibit thing in Golden Gate Park the other day and she was sweating!
I remember when she and I went to SF last Feb it was a little rainy and cold. We went to dinner one night on the pier and froze our booty's off. This morning it is -10 and my pipes in the laundry room are frozen! Arrg! |

Cal - 1,605 Fat - 123.5 Fiber - 16.3 Carbs - 39.6 Protein - 55.5 Exercise - Nothing unless laughing counts as exercise! On plan. What a good feeling it is to say that. ON PLAN! In fact, it's just natural for me it seems. Now, I mean! I met my BFF at Rosedale to check out the closing of World Market where I bought some Torini Sugar-free Syrups and the 99 Cacao dark chocolate I love (14 g carbs and 7 g fiber! 1 g sugar!) Then we walked over to Chili's and I had a Cobb salad and two cocktails (rum and diets). It was happy hour! I didn't really mean to have two cocktails, but when the server brought them out - what the heck! lol I did lots of reading yesterday about carb cycling. I'm considering giving it a shot. I am going to prepare for this by doing two weeks with macros as suggested. I'm thinking about it anyway. FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal: Public Journal |

Then I did the 2nd half of the Jackie Warner lower body workout with Sarah (she had been doing the DVD while I Nordic Tracked and such. A good workout! Knee is twinging on me a bit this morning, but I have to keep this up. The knee will get stronger. I've really been reading and reading about the refeeding. I am totally planning one for the 24th of this month. I will stock up on a few things like skim milk and FF cream cheese. The rest I have here. I'll plan a depleting workout on the refeed day as well. I don't want to get too sedentary with any of this to truncate my progress. We went and saw Grand Torino last night. Day 18
A bump in my process today. I still don't know what exactly happened. I had a total binge night. I don't know exactly what triggered it. I sort of do. My knee! One day it's better, one day it's twinging. Yesterday it hurt. I had my first yoga class last night and had to bail on future SIL. It hurt too much. My dog is way frustrated because it's been too cold to even play ball in the yard - so he's being naughty. My cat is recovering from his surgeries Tuesday. We had a town meeting at my company yesterday and we're doing horribly. Changes in the wind. So I don't know which of these things did it. ![]() I didn't track what I ate yesterday. It started with a bite of peanut butter. Then on to a bag of trail mix. Then three of those 1 oz bags of cheetos that come in the value pack. Then Pupcake came home and made me a bologna and cheese sandwich. I am very thirsty this morning. Quelle surprise! The good news is I didn't have any sugar. No sugar! And I could have. I am grasping at that as hope for me. Cal - don't know Fat - don't know Fiber - don't know Carbs - don't know Protein - don't know Exercise - nothing I need to look at this as what I said earlier. A bump. Not a total falling off. Or do I need a beotch-slappin'? ![]() FitDay Free Calorie Counter and Diet Journal: Public Journal Last edited by DaisyGG; 01-16-2009 at 05:47 AM.. |

Did I mention that it's 20 below right now?
The saving grace of the very cold temps is that the sun shines and the sky is the most amazing blue you've ever seen. A blue that can only come on a cold morning in Minnesota. God's gift to us for the cold I always think. It was on a day like this that I first quit smoking in 1997. A gorgeous cold-a$$ day just like this. I couldn't believe I was standing out in it all alone smoking a damn cigarette. That was my click. |

Too bad there isn't a NATIONAL BINGE HOTLINE, manned 24/7, 365, and you make that call to avoid crashin-n-burnin when we are feeling weak. Drink water till ya float today....no refeeds for another week. You need to precede a refeed with a low carb day, low to moderate calories. Congrats on breaking the habit, by the way. Yes, it's very cold today! Not 20 below for us, but still. It was 4 degrees at 6:45 this morning, wind chill colder than that, and to beat that, our heat went out upstairs where all the bedrooms are. NO HEAT! I slept in sweat pants, sweat shirt, socks and layered up. Hope it gets repaired today. |

Daisy,
Glad you had a good recovery day. There ya go! As for the Q on the 24th refeed, I wouldn't see why not, except for one thing: How are you going to do a vigorous workout with your knee out of whack? How is that going to work? It's a good idea to combine a refeed with a kickin' weight training workout, and I was just curious as to whether you're ready for that. Another option for you would be to not do a full-blown refeed, but rather just up your carbs by about 100-125, keeping fat rather low (30% or below), then resume what you've been doing for another 2-3 days, rinse and repeat. This attempt at carb cycling will still serve to shake it up and keep your metab running smoother. What are your thoughts? |
